Misty's P.O.V:
I heard footsteps coming from behind us. "Guys," I whispered, "I think someone's following us."
"Who?" Ash was just about to turn around before I stopped him.
I hissed, "Do you want us to get hurt or something? Don't look!"
"Sorry," Ash whispered. I couldn't help but soften at his sincerity.
"What do we do?" May asked. "There's no way we can go up against them."
"It wouldn't be safe to run away either, they'll probably outrun us," I commented.
Honestly, I had no idea how this all started. I was just chatting with my friends, how did we end up trying to escape from assassins?
The sound of footsteps was growing. "They're getting closer," I said quietly.
Drew started speeding up his pace, "We need to come up with a plan, quick."
May jogged to catch up to Drew, "And what would that be?"
"You guys run off, I'll stay behind," Ash said boldly.
I appreciated him being courageous and risking his own life for others, but it wasn't a smart plan.
"Ash, you can't possibly fight off those assassins," I reasoned.
Ash had a determined look in his eyes, "You never know until you try Mist."
A voice yelled from behind us, "Stop right there!"
Paul's P.O.V:
I stared at the scene in front of me, dead bodies and blood. Well, it wasn't my fault they decided to attack me. I noticed a grunt turn around the corner.
I grabbed him by the collar, "Have you seen seven people my age around here?"
He scoffed, "Why would I tell you?"
I glared and my grip tightened, "Answer the question."
Fear showed in his eyes, "T-they escaped."
I threw him against the wall and ran towards the exit.
"Where do you think you're going?"
May's P.O.V:
"Wait," I furrowed my eyebrows, "that was Dawn's voice."
I came to a halt and turned around, "Dawn!"
"We've got to get out of here, fast," Dawn said, dragging us all along. How was she that strong?
Something wasn't right, but I couldn't place my finger on it.
"Drew, something's not right," I whispered.
Drew sighed, "Of course not, we're being chased by an assassin agency, how can anything be right?"
I frowned, Drew was acting weird too.
A sound of thunder was heard, I snapped my head up and looked at the sky. It was clear, quite good weather if we weren't in such a bad situation. But where did the sound come from?
A yell was heard beside me. I whizzed around and saw Ash, clutching his left arm. What had happened?
"Ash!" Misty exclaimed.
Ash gave a weak smile, "I'm fine Mist, don't worry."
What had happened, it was so confusing.
"W-what's going on?" I asked.
Dawn sighed, "Like I said before, we desperately need to get out of here."
"Leaf, what's g-" My eyes widened as Leaf was nowhere to be seen.
Gary looked around, "Where's Leaf?" I could hear the concern in Gary's voice, he really cared for her.
"W-where's Ash?" Misty asked, shocked.
I looked in her direction and noticed Ash was indeed gone. But he was there only seconds ago, what happened? Relying on instinct, I jumped into Drew's arms and buried my face in his chest.
"May, what are you doing?" he mumbled. What was I doing? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Dawn spoke, "I hate to ruin the moment, but we seriously need to get out of here now."
Gary clenched his fists, "We can't just leave Leaf here!"
"Ash as well!" Misty agreed.
"It isn't safe here," Dawn began, "You guys leave. I'll catch up."
Drew cut in, "No, we can't let you do this alone."
So we just escaped, and now we're going back into the base?
"This is really dangerous, you guys should go. I'm serious," Dawn warned.
Gary interjected, "But-"
"No," Dawn shook her head. "I won't allow you to go back."
I can't believe this was really Dawn, she was acting really different. But at the same time, she was being herself.
I saw a look in Gary's eyes, it was the kind of look that would make you run for your lives. Gary was trembling all over, he was furious.
"There is no way I am going to leave Leaf behind," he managed to say, menace with each other his words.
Dawn softened, "Gary, I know you're worried about her. We all are-"
Before Dawn could finish, Gary sprinted off towards the base by himself. He was ignoring all the shouts he was receiving.
I had a really bad feeling about this.
Leaf's P.O.V:
What in the world just happened? I thought I had just escaped, but now I'm back here in the assassin base. I desperately wished I was in a dream. This couldn't be real, could it?
I saw a dead body fall in front of me, what kind of place is this? I know this is an assassin agency, but still. Some person just turned around the corner. Wait, was that Paul?!
What in the world? What has happened to the world?
I felt something against my neck, it was a knife. My eyes widened and I started to panic. I tried my hardest not to struggle since it could cost me my life. What do I do?
"Don't struggle," a creepy voice whispered into my ear. I shivered. Yuck.
I tried getting the words past my throat, "W-what do you want with me?"
I heard a sadistic chuckle, "Calm down. All I want is to have some fun."
Judging from the way he said that, I know I'm either going to be dead or scarred for life.
I was dragged along with him to some dark room. I needed to get out of here, now.
Paul's P.O.V:
Another body clasped before me. A hand clutched my left shoulder. I jerked around to get a good look at the person, about to punch them, before I stopped short. Dawn. What was she doing here?
"Gary, Ash and Leaf are all here," she said.
I shook my head slightly, "No, I've checked everywhere."
Dawn continued, "They were just re-captured. Well, not Gary. He just ran after Leaf."
"Idiot," I muttered under my breath.
We spent the next few minutes sneaking around looking for any signs of Gary, Ash or Leaf. One thing came into my mind. I never got the chance to ask troublesome what she was doing here.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, not noticing the Team Darkrai grunt behind me.
Troublesome jumped forward quickly, kicking him skilfully. Since when did she know how to do that? She went to martial arts class, but she wasn't that good. Not even close.
She was fighting, more like bashing, the grunt. Her fighting style, it's just like Platina's. It all made sense now, it was her all along. It was so obvious, yet I failed to notice. I felt like an idiot. One of the best assassins gets fooled by a wig and contacts, stupid.
"Platina," the words slipped out of my mouth.
She turned to me immediately, "There's no point in denying it anymore."
I rolled my eyes, in attempt to redeem my tough exterior.
"Gary!" she exclaimed. How in the world was she an assassin? I wouldn't be surprised if she woke the dead. Fine, maybe I was exaggerating a little. Now wasn't the time to have a stupid mental argument with myself.
"Leave now," I said bluntly.
"Leaf, she needs me," Gary said, panting.
I glared, "No, you need her."
Gary's eyes widened, realising the truth behind my words. He needed her, just like I needed troublesome.
I mentally cursed myself, for ever thinking such a thing.
A/N: Super rushed chapter.
