Chapter 136

On Saturday May 20th Eve went on a date with Amy at the movies. During the movie Eve got a text. Seeing it was from officer Murphy she went to the bathroom to call him back.

Eve: Is this important, I'm on a date.
Murphy: I just wanted to ask, do you still go to Chris Smith's house?
Eve: Is that really any of your business?
Murphy: Perhaps not. But you were my ally once. I like to think we were friends. I feel an obligation to protect you.
Eve: What does that mean?
Murphy: It means, don't be there tomorrow. Stay safe Eve.

Eve became worried about what Murphy said. It was clear the police were planning a raid. Should she warn her friends, her girlfriend. Would Murphy figure out she'd warned them? When Eve left the ladies room Amy was standing outside. She had a worried look on her face.

Amy: Who were you talking too?
Eve: Why?
Amy: I realize Adam was your friend once. But he hurt you. If I saw him, I might have to hurt him.
Eve: It wasn't Adam. It was just a friend. Amy, don't go to Chris Smith's house tomorrow.
Amy: Why?
Eve: I think the police are planning a raid. Don't ask me how I know, just don't be there when it happens.

After Eve warned Amy she left the movie theatre. The movie wasn't that great anyway. She knew that Amy would probably warn her friends. But then they might know how Eve came across this knowledge. Amy would figure out that Eve had been an informant, and that would mean the end of their relationship. Also, Eve wasn't sure if she'd broken any laws by warning her. She'd betrayed his confidence. But he was the cop, not her. If anything he'd been the one to break protocol. Eve figured she'd been free to pass along what she'd heard. At least that was what Eve hoped. Time would tell what happenned to her.
