When Eve was at work on Monday June 5th everyone seemed excited about the launch. When she returned on Friday June 9th they were talking about what to do now. The plan had been to bring people into their Arks, chosen from Ravenwood executives, employees, and investors. Some believed they should keep a few, just in case the missles failed, or something else came. Others believed they should sell them, make what they could. But with the demand lessenned, they would be harder to unload. Most likely mr Dole would blink first and let the union buy five Arks.
On Saturday June 10th Eve was at home, working on her paper, due Monday. With two weeks left in the school year this was her final report of the year. The assignment was to do a four page paper on a current historical figure. Eve got to do hers on vice-president Kimberly Allen. Allen had been a cop, when she was shot in the leg they offerred her early retirement. Instead Allen took a desk jo and went to law school at night to become a prosecutor. Allen was first elected to congress in 2020, part of the democrats re-taking congress. She had three kids, Zoey, born in 2017, Michael and Sarah, twins born in 2024. In 2027 Allen ran for president, lost the primary but George Mason asked her to be his running mate. This helped with those who thought Mason wasn't pro-choice enough, or wasn't that committed to gun control. Eve figured that, come September, she'd be doing normal assignments like this again. She finished this report on Sunday morning, then went to the movies with Nadia. This film was about the U.S. attemps to introduce baseball to Afghanistan during that war. It was inspiring, seeing that game motivate at least some young Afghans not to become suicide bombers. The movie ended with the main character watching children playing baseball, a sense of hope for the future.
