Chapter 148
.
Eve was at the airport with officer Murphy, waiting to board her flight. Eve was told that another officer would be waiting for her in Texas. Murphy wasn't traveling with her, not much chance she could escape on the plane. Eve was scared, starting a new life under prison guard. Hard to believe that less than 100 hours ago she'd been working on a paper for school. Eve still hadn't gotten her grade from that report. They made the announcement to board the plane. Eve said a quick goodbye to Murphy and got on the plane. As the plane took off, it occurred to Eve. She didn't recognoze anyone on this plane, was going to a foreign state, to serve a prison sentance. There was no going back.
On the plane to Texas Eve became more nervous. That was to be expected. What Eve didn't expect was the rumors people were discussing on this plane. There was still some unrest. Some people were still talking about seccession. The point of secceeding from the union had largely been about the Arks. They wanted to save more people from their own states than other states. Some claimed it was about freedom, but at its heart it had been about self-preservation. With ELE about to be destroyed, that likely wouldn't matter much longer. Ofcourse that assumed that ELE was actually destroyed. Eve remembered that Colby, a man she knew a little, owned the oil site that she was being sent to. Could that really be a coincidence? Could Murphy still be using her, expecting her to be an informant again?
Eve had the kosher meal on the flight to Texas. She'd gotten used to kosher meals since converting to islam. The flight was over five hours. When it finally landed two Texas rangers were there to pick her up. The drive to the oil site was over an hour, but it was awkawardly silent. When they finally got there guards immediately rushed Eve to be photographed. During the pictures they took away Eve's things, leaving her only the Koran. This whole thing was becoming more dis-orienting and frightening by the minute. Before Eve could talk to anyone these guards brought her to her room, more specifically a single cell. They locked Eve inside and left. Eve realized she was really a prisoner, but wasn't sure what was going on.
