Chapter 149

.

When Eve was first brought to her cell she examined it. Small, a bed and a toilet with a sink. No tv, no ruber ball to bounce. It was sealed off, no other inmates to talk to. She wasn't sure how much time had passed because there was no clock. Maybe a few hours, before they brought dinner. When they put the dinned through the door Eve tried to ask them what was going on, but the guards remained silent. Dinner wasn't much, just a turket tv dinner with a bottle of water. Eve ate her dinner. Eventually, out of boredom, she went to sleep. When Eve woke up she had no idea what time it was. She paced nervously, read the Koran. Eventually they brought breakfast, another tv dinner. This one had eggs and milk. After that the boredom got to Eve. Nothing to do but read and pray as best she could. Had there been some mistake, was she sentanced to prison after all? At some point they again brought Eve a tv dinner. She tried to remember when she'd been brought here. Thursday June 15th. Which would make today Friday, June 16th Had it really been less than a week since Eve was working on a school project? Maybe Eve deserved this, but she wanted out. She needed to get out of here.

.

The guards woke Eve up, she had no idea what time it was. They said they were bringing her to see colonel Park, the commanding military officer of this place. Eve wouldn't even have time to shower or change her clothes. As they walked Eve to Park's office she could see outside. It was almost sunrise, probably June 17th, as best Eve could remember. Colonel Park seemed very stern, definitely a change from the smiling colonel Sadler. He asked Eve to take a seat, the guards remained silent during this meeting.

.

Park: Do you know why you're here?

Eve: To help collect fuel for the Ark.

Park; You're here, in this prison, because you murdered your stepmother.

Eve; Is that why I was put in solitary confinement?

Park: Yes. I decided to make sure you're trustworthy, before letting you work on an important task. Luckily officer Murphy speaks very highly of you. So, starting immediately, you will begin work. You'll still have to remain in your cell at night, but you'll be allowed out for meals and showers. If you prove you are trustworthy you will eventually be allowed use of the library and rec-room.

Eve: Thank you sir.

Park: You have time to shower and eat breakfast before orientation. You may leave now.
