Day Two:

Cherry Fairbanks (D11 F 16)

I wake up before the sun even rises. Immediately after I open my eyes, I spot Mapelle to my left. It takes me another second to remember that we're in a tree. Mapelle taught Nylah and I how to climb trees yesterday, so the three of us managed to get up into this one. It's very big, sturdy and has lots of branches, which certainly helped. I notice that Nylah is still sleeping. Good for her. "You can sleep too, if you want," I whisper to Mapelle.

"Thank you," she whispers back as she lays her head down.

I'm happy to finally be able to do something for the group. Mapelle got a bottle of water at the bloodbath, taught us how to climb trees, and has kept watch for the last few hours. Nylah got two bags of supplies at the bloodbath, and kept watch for half of the night. All I've done is get a pack of knives at the bloodbath. Once Nylah and Mapelle wake up, I'll help search for water and food. Right now, we're short on both of those.

Nylah didn't get much food and water in her bags, but she did get supplies. She got a small hatchet, a pot, a piece of flint, a blanket, a first aid kit, a fish hook, a ball of twine, a protein bar, a pack of crackers, and a bottle of water. All we've eaten so far is a cracker each, leaving us with three crackers and the protein bar. Although my stomach rumbles, I know I can't eat any of this food. Once Nylah and Mapelle wake up, we'll finish off the crackers. Then, we can begin the search for food and water.

Jessie Harte (D2 F 14)

Glint and Mason wake up right as the sun begins to peek over the mist. They immediately wake up Alexandrite and Sheldon and start tearing into the food. They need to be careful or we'll run out before the Games are over. I would speak up, but I'm already on the bad side of most of them for being only fourteen. Besides, I'm sure we've all got plenty of sponsors. They can supply us with food if we run out.

Fifteen minutes later, Glint starts talking business. "So who's staying back to hold down the fort today?" Not surprisingly, no one speaks up. "Nobody?" Glint says in mock confusion. "Well, I think it's your turn, Jessie."

This is extremely unfair that the guys have made Alexandrite and I keep watch for the past two days. It stinks to be in the minority. "Whatever," I say. "But only because I'm getting my turn over with now so I can hunt later."

"Fine," Glint says. "So how are we pairing up today?"

"I'm going with either you or Mason," Sheldon says quickly.

"Okay, I'll go with Sheldon," Glint says. "That means you two are together." He points to Alexandrite and Mason. Mason doesn't look too happy with the arrangements, but he goes with it.

I help the four of them pack their bags for lunch. We also include first aid kits in case someone gets hurt, and some extra knives, water, and snacks. At last, they all set off; Sheldon and Glint head for East Island, and Mason and Alexandrite cross the bridge to West Island.

Aria Law (D8 F 17)

At last, Lukas wakes up. I toss him two pieces of beef jerky. "We're going hunting for food in ten minutes," I say. He nods, already chowing down on the jerky. As he eats, I load all of my supplies back into my bag, except for our weapons. When Lukas is done eating, I place my daggers in my pocket, hand Lukas his sword, and keep my spear in my hand. At last, we set off in search of food.

Five minutes after we set off, I find an edible berry bush. We manage to pick off about twenty berries. It's not a lot, but we should be able to find more soon. Sure enough an hour later, we have enough berries for a few meals. So, we begin to focus on hunting animals. The trouble is, though, we can't find any animals, let alone catch them. In the next hour or so, all we manage to spot is a snake, a frog, and a bird. None are big enough to make them worth catching. I find it very surprising that there's barely any animals. Usually, rainforests are teeming with colorful creatures. I bet the Gamemakers did something to mess with the number of animals to make it harder for us to find food. It's the kind of thing they'd do.

I'm just about to suggest we stop looking when I finally spot an animal with some meat on it. Holding out my hand to tell Lukas to stop, I grab a dagger and launch it at the animal. The dagger hits it right in the head, killing it instantly. Walking over, I see that the animal is some sort of large lizard or iguana. I've never eaten any animal like this, so I'm hoping it's edible. I'm also hoping there's enough meat on it since I don't know if Lukas and I will be lucky enough to find another animal like this soon.

Lukas and I drop our bags and clear a spot on the ground for a fire. As he searches for firewood, I skin and gut the lizard. Once I separate the meat, I see that there's enough meat for about three meals for the two of us. That's not too bad for a lizard. When Lukas comes back with the wood, we lay a fire, and then set the lizard meat up on a spit. I light the fire with one of our matches, and sit back and watch as the fire slowly cooks the meat to perfection.

Once the meat's done, I stamp out the fire, and cut the meat into six equal portions. I place four into one of our bags, give one to Lukas, and eat one myself. It actually tastes kind of good. I could live with this and berries for two weeks. When we're done, I look over at Lukas. "We should probably move now," I say. "The smoke could attract other tributes."

"Okay," Lukas says, hiking two of our four bags onto his back. "We also need to look for some water. We've got only one and a quarter bottles of water left."

"Sounds good," I say. "Let's go."

Osborn Trevis (D10 M 17)

"Got one!" I hear Harvest shout. I look over to see that she's speared a monkey. That's the second one she's gotten today.

"Nice job," I say as I hold out my bag for her to place the body in, next to her other monkey and a sloth that I killed. We've been out for about two hours and we already have plenty of food. East Island certainly has lots of animals in it. "Do you think we should cook them yet?" I ask.

"I guess so," Harvest replies. "They'll start to smell if we keep the bodies in your bag for any longer."

After fifteen minutes of collecting and laying firewood, we light a match. We then gut the animals and set up a spit as the fire heats up. Finally, we begin to roast the meat. It takes about an hour to get all of the meat cooked since we've got so much. We have to keep bringing in pieces of wood. Once we're done, we eat up half of the sloth, and place the rest of it into my bag with the monkey meat. Harvest puts the fire out, and we get ready to leave. Before we can do so, however, a loud voice pierces through my eardrums. "Stop right there!"

I turn around and see two tributes sprinting towards us- the boys from District Four and One. Scared, I look over at Harvest. "Run or fight?" I ask.

"Fight," she says without hesitation. "We're going to fight."

The two of us raise our spears as the two careers get closer and closer. When they realize we aren't going to run, they stop. "Lookie who we have here," the boy from District One says, looking at Harvest. "It's the girl who dissed us at lunch a few days ago."

"And her sidekick," the other boy adds.

"Yes," the first boy says. "Let's kill them."

Harvest Anson (D9 F 18)

The boy from District One lunges at me as the District Four boy charges at Osborn. Just like I am, the District One boy is holding a spear. Excellent- an even playing field. He jabs at me first, but I dodge his spear and fight back. He deflects my spear with his. We go on like this for two minutes or so, dodging and deflecting each other's spear and fighting back. Finally, however, I manage to get him in the chest.

I wasn't a hard enough jab to kill him, put I think it did pierce his skin. The boy stumbles backwards, and drops his spear. I throw my spear behind me and pick up his spear. I'm just about to deliver the final blow when he scampers away, his eyes filled with fear. I consider going after him, but decide against it when I look over at Osborn.

I look over fast enough to see the the District Four boy send his spear through Osborn's stomach. The cannon goes off before Osborn's body even hits the ground. Enraged, I dash over to the boy District Four, who's trying to retract his spear from Osborn's body. Letting out a yell, I pounce on top of the boy and thrust my spear through his back. I hold on to my spear as the boy falls to the ground. For the second time in a minute, a cannon sounds. Wanting to get out of this place quickly, I pull the backpack off of Osborn's back and collect the four spears scattered around. Then, I dash off towards our (I mean, my) cave.

Swirl Winters (D10 F 13)

I wonder who those two cannon blasts were for. I bet the careers found an alliance of two and took them both out. As long as Peyton wasn't one of the two deaths, I don't really care who died. Although, I'd prefer that someone stronger died. That way, I don't have to worry about taking them out if I survive for a few days.

For the past few hours, I've been on a quest for food and water. I haven't been very successful with water, but I did manage to kill some sort of mammal with a really long nose. I haven't cooked the meat, but I have separated it from the bones, skin, and guts. Once I find water, I'll have to boil it to make it safe for drinking, so I'll create a fire when I have to use it for both things.

The next half hour goes by pretty uneventfully. I continue to trek through the woods, my throat getting dryer and dryer. I have half a bottle of water left, but I want to save it for emergencies. I'm about to loose hope when I hear a slight trickling sound. Excited, I sprint towards the sound. At last, I see it in the distance- a small stream, slowly flowing through the forest.

Immediately, I take my pot out of my bag and fill it with the stream water. I lay and light my fire, and place the pot in the fire, since I've got no way to keep it above the fire. I'd burn my hands. It takes a while to get the fire up to a hot enough temperature. Finally, though, the water begins to boil. Ten minutes later, using leaves as pot-holders, I take the pot out of the fire. As the water cools down, I cook my mammal meat. At last, the water cools down enough. I drink it in big gulps, making my throat feel a hundred times better. Once I'm full of water, I move on to the meat. It tastes pretty good, for something I caught and cooked myself.

Glint Sulf (D1 M 18)

I'm still pretty shaken by what happened to Sheldon and I earlier. That District Nine girl really has some nerve, taking my weapon right out of my hands and using it against me. I just hope that the two cannons meant that Sheldon killed the two stinking tributes. They deserve it.

Currently, I'm walking across the bridge to the cornucopia. Once I lost my weapon, I knew it would be stupid to keep hunting tributes if I wasn't even armed. So, I decided to head back to Jessie and the cornucopia. Judging by where the sun is, I'd say it's about mid-afternoon, which means that if I want to go out hunting again later, I can. Although, I don't know if I will. The District Nine girl gave me a pretty nasty wound on my chest. I may just spend the rest of the day resting and recovering.

Once I step onto the island, Jessie walks over to me, looking a bit worried. "Where's Sheldon?" she asks. "And why is your shirt all ripped?"

"We were attacked," I say, "by the girl from District Nine and the boy from District Ten. The girl used completely unfair tactics to steal my spear and slice my chest with it. When she had two spears in her hands, the only thing I could do was run, or she would have killed me. My wound made it impossible to fight back."

"Wow," she says, looking bored. "And Sheldon?"

"I don't know what happened to him," I say. "The last I knew he was fighting with the boy from District Ten."

"Well, we'll find out what happens when the anthem plays at nightfall," Jessie says.

"Sounds good," I say.

Rory Cedarby (D7 M 16)

My throat keeps getting dryer and dryer as the hours tick by. We only picked up one bottle of water at the bloodbath, and it's almost gone. Eridan and I are both weak and dehydrated. We've managed to find a few handfuls of berries, which have added a little bit of moisture to our cracked mouths, but not much. I'm starting to believe that there's no water in this arena.

"I think we should stop and set up a camp," I finally say.

"But we need to find water." Eridan looks at me with a look of exhaustion on his face.

"We'll just wear ourselves out," I say. "I think we should rest for the rest of the day, eat some berries, and hope for a sponsor gift."

"We're not going to get a sponsor gift," he says doubtfully. "They cost too much."

"It's only the second day," I say. "Two bottles of water won't cost that much."

"Fine," Eridan says, throwing down his bag. "We'll stay here for the rest of the day."

"No you won't!" I whip my head around to see two careers standing there, a boy and a girl, with weapons in their hands. They've snuck up on us. We must have been arguing too loud.

"Run!" Eridan shouts as he picks up his bag and dashes through the rainforest. I follow him, running as fast as my legs can carry me. My legs, throat, and chest all burn like I'm on fire, but I keep going.

All of a sudden, I feel a burning pain in my back that knocks me to the ground. Looking over my shoulder, I see a bloody knife protruding out of my back. "Got him!" I hear a female voice say. I can't even identify my killer because my vision begins to blacken. In no time, I'm plunged into darkness.

Alexandrite Dazzle (D1 F 17)

"Boom."

I don't even pull my throwing knife out of the boy's back. I have plenty of knives back at camp. Leaving one here won't hurt. I look up at Mason. "Do you think we should head back? It's going to get dark pretty soon."

"Sure," Mason replies. "Let's go."

We don't talk much on the way back to camp- mostly because I'm exhausted. I'm already sick of acting like an airhead towards the other careers- even though we've only been in the arena for two days. I seriously cannot wait until the career alliance breaks up. I'll finally be able to be myself again. Sponsors will support me because they respect who I am and not because I'm allied with the careers.

Two hours later, we arrive back at the cornucopia. I immediately notice the absence of one of our members. "Where's Sheldon?" I ask.

"Don't know," Glint replies. "We were attacked by two tributes out in the forest. I got away safely, but I don't know about Sheldon."

"So one of those two cannons we heard earlier could have belonged to him?"

"Yeah," Glint replies. "Speaking of cannons, do you have any idea who that last one was for?"

"The boy from District Seven," I say. "I killed him. His ally ran away before we could get him."

"I'm going to go get some food," Mason interrupts.

"I'm coming too," I say. I am pretty hungry, and the sun's going to set soon. Only then will we find out if Sheldon died.

Peyton Stanley (D6 M 12)

I have drunk almost my entire water bottle. I haven't had any food to eat in over a day. I have tried to kill animals with the knife Swirl gave me yesterday, but haven't been successful. I'm not too disappointed with myself. I have no way to start a fire, so killing an animal would kind of be pointless right now.

Just then, I hear the sound of the Panem Anthem echoing through the arena. The first face in the sky belongs to the boy from District Four. That's pretty surprising. He was a career. The next casualty is the boy from District Seven. I don't remember much about him. I don't think he was particularly strong or talented. The final death is the boy from District Ten. I thought he would make it farther. The Panem Seal appears in the sky, and the anthem finally ends, leaving the arena in darkness.

Even though there were some surprising deaths tonight, the only thing I can do is be grateful that Swirl is still alive. Tomorrow, the only thought on my mind will be to find Swirl. By now, I'm sure she has plenty of food and water. I can't get any of that on my own, so I really need to find her. Otherwise, I don't think I'll survive another day.

Barely able to keep my eyes open, I decide it's time for me to go to sleep. I don't have the strength or energy to climb up into a tree, so I find a large piece of moss to sleep on. It's not sheltered in any way, but right now, it's the best option I've got. I lay down and fall asleep within minutes.

The Fallen (3):

Osborn Trevis (D10 M 17)

Killed by Sheldon. A spear was sent through his stomach.

Sheldon Thomson (D4 M 18)

Killed by Harvest. He was impaled by a spear while pulling his own spear out of Osborn's body

Rory Cedarby (D7 M 16)

Killed by Alexandrite. A knife was thrown into his back as he tried to run away from Alexandrite and Mason.

Only three alliances remain! I finally got around to knocking off Sheldon, since he was my own tribute. Rory's submitter hasn't reviewed in forever, and Rory himself received only one vote in the poll. Osborn's submitter is also inactive. Plus, he received a grand total of zero poll votes.

Friday is my last day of school before Christmas break, and then I'm off school for two and a half weeks. This means I'll have much more time to write, so be prepared for some new chapters!

I've put a new poll up, so please vote! Now that I've killed off nearly all the tributes with inactive submitters, your tribute(s) may be next on the chopping block due to a lack of votes. Thanks for reading! :-)
