Chapter 170

.

Eve waited anxiously. The sun was starting to set. She heard the announcement that everyone was to report to the main compound. Even those in solitary confinement were to be released for this. Eve reasoned that she was one of the few people exempted from this right now. Ofcourse she was one of the few who realized it was a mutiny. Park began waking up. Eve kept her distance, and kept her gun trained on him.

.

Park: So you finally made your choice.

Eve: Yeah, I did.

Park: What do you prefer to be called? Militia, wolf, collectivist, rebel, traitor, terrorist?

Eve: I don't know.

Park: Even if Douglas siezes all the Arks in his states, there won't be enough space. Will he deny you and Amy? What if only one of you gets chosen? Will you abandon her? Will she abandon you? Will you shoot desperate civilians trying to get in?

Eve: I don't know. But me and Amy are in this together, no matter what.

Park: Lots of Arks in Texas. Will Santos let refugees from other Collective states in, depriving other Texans? Amy's a native of Texas, you're not.

Eve: Shut up!

Park: It's not too late. Help me out, and noone needs to know about your treason. I can give you those things you asked for. Otherwise you'll go to your grave, labled a traitor. The deepest circle of Hell is reserved for those who betray.

Eve: Allah will judge me one day, and you. Someday, maybe soon, we'll learn which of us is right.

.

The sun was almost completely set when Amy finally came to see Eve. They kissed, it was their first kiss since they'd broken up. Right now, each was just glad the other was safe. It actually seemed they might be okay, both of them. That feeling was rare these days, Amy and Eve wanted to savor this while it lasted. They soon recieved word that Santos had arrived, it was time.
