Jackie Lee was in his own little pickle. He had no monster's on his field. All he had was one face-down card. His opponent, a brown-whitish Mohawk haired teacher wearing a blue uniform, had Alpha the Magnet Warrior ( 1400/1700) in Attack Mode and Armored Zombie (1500/0) in Defense Mode.

" You know… when I heard your name was Jackie Lee I thought you'd use more Warrior-type monsters."

" Sorry if you were surprised. But wait when you get a load of this. I summon Mystic Tomato (1400/1100)."

A large blue hole of light ripped open on Jackie Lee's side of the field. From the light a large red tomato appeared. At first the teacher thought it was only a normal tomato. From its side all he saw was its smooth skin and stem protruding out its head. But when it turned around he saw the tomato with a pair of yellow eyes and serrated teeth laughing at him. The teacher didn't flinch.

" If you expect to beat me with that thing, you're out of your core, noob."

" I wouldn't call someone a noob just because they don't use expensive cards. Even normal cards can be deadly if someone knows how to use them properly. I activate Book of Moon; I target one face-up monster on the field and change it to face-down Defense Position. I chose Armored Zombie."

The back side of a Duel Monster's card flipped-up and crushed Armored Zombie under its black-brown surface. Before the monster was it jabbed it's sword up screaming. The teacher still didn't break a sweat.

" He must have a Noblemen of Crossout in his hand. With that he can remove my monster now that he's face-down. When Mystic Tomato is destroyed by battle he gets to Special Summon A Dark monster with 1500 or less ATK in Attack Position. So he's thinking of destroying my Armored Zombie with that. Newbies are so predictable."

" I activate Book of Taiyou. With this card I can flip one face-down monster on the field into face-up Attack Position. The monster I choose is your face-down Armored Zombie!"

" What? Why would he do that? Zombies have zero DEF. He'd be much easier to take down in defense…unless…"

A long, swamp soaked sword stuck out of the ground. The green-skinned, brown samurai armored zombie Armored Zombie with the big eyes appeared. Unlike in Defense Position where he shielded himself with his sword, Armored Zombie had the sword by his waist.

" Mystic Tomato, attack!"

The giant red tomato rolled around like a billiard ball rolling towards Alpha. Alpha raised his shield up pushing the tomato off, but the tomato rolled again towards Alpha, this time ramming into the giant U-magnet on his body. Alpha stabbed his sword into the tomato multiple times as they both crashed into the wall. When the dust disappeared Mystic Tomato and Alpha the Magnet Warrior were nothing but a pile of dust.

" When Mystic Tomato is destroyed by battle I'm allowed to Special Summon a monster from my deck with 1500 or less ATK. I choose to summon Mataza the Zapper ( 1300/ 800)

A large blue hole of light ripped open on Jackie Lee's side of the field. From the light a shadow of a samurai jumped out. The samurai, called bushi by the Japanese, in the upper ranks from magistrate their true names are saburau, he was wearing a green cuirass with a small white band wrapped around his head. His distinctive feature was his long brown ponytail. He had Sode, green rectangular shoulder protection. And carried a long Chokutō; a straight single-edged sword produced prior in the 10th century without differential hardening or folding. The samurai Mataza glared into the teachers' eyes swinging his blade around.

" You know, when you at him close-up he kind of reminds me of you."

" Glad you think that way. Because he's the one who's going to defeat you."

" How? Your monster is too weak to bypass my Armored Zombie, noob."

" I told you not to call me a "noob". And I also told you not to underestimate the destruction of even the weakest cards. Mataza, attack!"

Mataza dashed towards Armored Zombie weaving his Chokutō. He created airy slashes following the trajectory of Mataza's sword movements. Mataza and Armored Zombie clashed. Despite being dead, Armored Zombie swinged his sword faster than Mataza. Armored Zombie slashed his sword at Mataza. Sparks skidded off. The tip of Armored Zombie's sword moved closer to Mataza's eyes Mataza pushed Armored Zombie away stabbing his sword into Armored Zombie's stomach. Mataza performed Seppuku on Armored Zombie. His blade cut through Armored Zombie's unanimated intestines, ripped through his right side, and cut him in half. Armored Zombie exploded.

" What? But my monster had more ATK than yours! How can mine be defeated by the likes of yours?"

" It's because of this…" Jackie Lee flipped one card in his Spell/Trap card zone face-up. It showed the picture of an angry red boar rushing towards something inauspicious. " It's called Rush Recklessly. It's a Quick-Spell that increases the ATK of one face-up monster on the field. I chose Mataza (2000)."

Teacher: 2000

" Fine! I happen to know that card only last's one turn. Next turn I'll summon La Jinn and I'll…"

" There won't be a next turn. Like I said, never underestimate the value of a common card. Because instead of one, Mataza can attack twice per turn. Mataza, attack!"

Mataza sticked his sword in his belt before he rushed towards his enemy, the teacher, whom he went past, unsheathing his blade. A dark wave was created from Mataza's sword, which followed his slash like a wake, cutting the teacher in his back.

Teacher: 0

The teacher was holding his heart. He felt the sting of his blade in his arteries. The teacher didn't like to lose, but he was inclined to show admiration towards his students who did a good job. The teacher bowed ninety degrees to the student.

" Congratulations, kid. You made it into the academy. I only wish I could've used my real deck again you."

Jackie Lee bowed to the teacher also in a ninety degree angle. " Thank you, O' wise sensei. This is a better honour than last Thanksgiving. My cousin ate too much turkey and I had to cut it out of his pantyhose."

" I'd like to say you've all done well today. Except for all those who have failed. You can get the f*** out of here."

" Charmed," Ciel replied. " After my turn I'll help myself to some parfait. What about you…?"

" Jay."

" Jay. What will you have?"

" Shouldn't you be worried more about how you're going to do on the exams and less about what you're going to eat?"

" Only meager worry about their scores. I sum up that I have an eight-seven point five chance of passing. I also once worked a business on an online simulator. I owned a stuffed toy factory in India, but it wound up being sold. It's only natural. Once something has been taken it can never be given back."

Ciel raised a small cup of tea to his mouth and took a sip.

" Since we're on the moment of talking, can I ask you for one thing."

" Hmmmm."

" Can you teach me how to play Duel Monsters?"

" Pfffffttt!" Ciel spit tea out his mouth that splashed over another contestants face. The tea was scorching hot that the man jumped up and down screaming to himself. " YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY?"

" No, it's nothing like that. I know every card from my father's achieve, but the think is I'm using a new deck and I was wondering if you telling me how the game goes will I get better."

" How tedious. How prolong. How drab. But since I'm a young Earl of an important family with nothing else to do with his time I guess I don't have any other choice. Just remember, I'm only going to say the rules once so pay attention. And I'll add my fairy tale version."
