Two Minutes Before the Crash

"Eeeek, these look great!" Juliet squealed, gazing into the open top oven. "Dom, get some mitts and take them out! They're better hot."

"Why don't you do it?" Butler asked, leaning against the counter on the other side of the room.

"Hecks no! I'm not sticking my arms into the deep fires of Mordor."

Butler rolled his eyes at the Lord of the Rings reference that actually bore some degree of accuracy, and opened a drawer for the oven mitts. He found two, boring brown ones, and walked past Juliet to take out the cookie tray.

Juliet, meanwhile, was looking at the time for the bottom one. "The sugar cookies are almost done, too..."

Myles and Beckett cheered. When Butler slid out the tray and set it on the counter, he was swarmed by everyone.

"Can we try one?" Beckett asked. "Please?"

"Of course!" replied Juliet. "But just one. We wanna save most of them for Christmas morning."

Then they heard the crashing and screaming, too. Juliet looked at Butler with questioning eyes, but he could only shrug back a response. Juliet shook her head at her brother and went to look outside the window, and she could hardly believe her eyes. On the lush, green lawn of the estate was some sort of transportation...thing. And a small, male fairy with red-gold cropped hair and bright green eyes stepped out. His expression was grim, but he had the look of a madman's glee in his eye. Juliet gasped when she saw this and quickly sunk below the window so the fairy couldn't see her.

"What is it?" Butler asked, frowning.

'Fairies,' mouthed Juliet.

Lilac froze and felt a chill run up her spine. Fairies? This was terrible. This was worse than terrible. So, she screamed.

Butler quickly rushed over to Lilac. "What is it? Why are you screaming"

"You're all completely mad," said Lilac, playing the innocent and clueless. "Fairies do not exist."

At that moment, Holly and Artemis came racing down the stairs, but Foaly was still looking for information.

"What's going on?!" Holly exclaimed. She was relieved, though, that the screaming wasn't Juliet's or Lilacs.

"Get the twins upstairs, Artemis," Juliet told him. She pushed Myles and Beckett towards him, and, seeing the distressed look on her face and thinking that this was not the time to object, he did what she asked.

"Juliet," Holly tried again, "what is going o-"

"Look outside!"

Holly went to the window and did just that. Her eyes widened. "Do you recognize it? Or him?" Juliet asked.

"I recognize it," Holly said. "It's obviously an air shuttle from LEP. But I don't know what 'him' you're talking about."

Juliet arrived by her side and saw what she meant. The guy that stepped out when she looked was gone. This was very concerning. "But... there was a fairy! I saw him."

"Fairies don't exist," Lilac said. "They're from nursery rhymes and-"

"Oh, cut the act already, Lilac!" Holly snapped, whipping her head around and giving her the glare of glares. "I know what-"

Just as Artemis was coming downstairs, and in the middle of Holly's sentence, the door burst open. Or, rather, something fired a hole through the door, so hot they could hear the wood sizzling. Butler dove for Holly and his little sister, pulling them both out of the way.

"Holly!" Artemis cried. He rushed down even faster. That was an immediate reaction. He regretted it as soon as he had said it.

And in through the hole walked the red-gold haired fairy, grinning like a psycho.

Butler didn't dare move, either. Even when proof knocked down his door and stared him right in the face that Lilac wasn't who she said she was, his feelings for her hadn't wavered.

"Hello," said the red-gold haired fairy. "You're so very kind to receive me on such short notice." The male fairy's eyes wandered across the room, calculating everything and looking for the Mud Person. His eyes landed on Holly and noticed her LEP uniform. "Am I in the presence of an LEP officer?" He bowed, exaggerating.

"Who are you?" growled Holly. "What are you doing here?"

"Elvin," said he, "and I'm looking for a Mud Person."

Holly inwardly groaned and resisted the urge to look at Lilac, since she was the Mud Person Elvin was most likely talking about.

Elvin continued to look around the room and chuckled like a madman, which he probably was. "So many pretty things. So many Mud People, but I don't see my pretty Mud Person."

Lilac was hiding behind Butler and thanking her lucky stars the fairy didn't see her.

"Get out or I will call Headquarters right now," Holly threatened.

"Aw, you wouldn't…"

"Don't test me."

Elvin's face and attitude changed before they knew it, into a much, much scarier one than before. He pulled a Neutrino out of his belt, hidden by his shirt, and stared Holly dead in the eyes. Fearless. "You wouldn't," he growled.

Holly didn't have her gun with her currently. If she did, this would all be over quickly... Luckily, Butler, being the over-prepared, overly-cautious person that he was, did. Tucked in his sock was a tiny gun; tiny, but still dangerous. As fast as he could, he bent down and pulled it out. Elvin turned his attention to him, but wasn't fast enough and Domovoi was already pointing his gun at his head.

"Put the Neutrino down," Butler growled.

Elvin smiled at the corners of his lips. "Or what? You'll shoot me with that thing? I say thing because it's so small I actually refuse to call it a gun. It's more like a grasshopper."

Butler shifted his weapon to the left, just a little, and fired. The bullet whizzed past Elvin (he barely flinched), too fast for them to see and went straight through the door. It was tiny, but it was fast and it could go straight through a wooden door- and then some. "Not to mention you're outnumbered," said the bodyguard.

Artemis made a mental note to himself to take the door repair out of Butler's pay.

"Now, Elvin, who are you looking for?!"

"A little Mud person who goes by the name of Lilac Bloom. You wouldn't happen to know her... would you?"

"No, I can't say I do. You must have the wrong house." Butler smiled.

Suddenly, Elvin's face darkened. His eyes got that psychotic glint in them again... He whispered, "I don't think so." He tightened his grip on the Neutrino, making a show of aiming it at Butler. That's the only reason why he was able to dodge it- Butler. He grabbed Lilac's arm and pulled her to the side with him, as Elvin fired. He missed them, but the goal was not to hit them. That's why he made a big show of aiming at him.

His goal to was to draw Lilac out from behind him... if she was there. Which she was. Butler pulled her to the side with him, but she stumbled and fell out into plain sight.

"Lilac Bloom! How delighted I am to see you," Elvin said with a sinister smile. "Why did you hide from me?"

"I-I don't know who you are. This is a hoax. Leave me alone!" cried Lilac desperately, wanting to hide behind Butler again.

"You don't know who I am?" Elvin said darkly. "You knew who my brother was when you KILLED HIM!"

Elvin screamed the last part and there was a terrifying fire in his eyes as he stared at Lilac. He started walking to her slowly, letting the anticipation ruin Lilac. No one stopped Elvin and Lilac desperately wished one of them would. The male fairy looked up at Lilac in the eye and growled. Like a completely wild animal. Lilac remained silent but her eyes shone with fear as Elvin opened his mouth to speak.

"You killed him, you filthy human! You killed him and you didn't even care!" screamed the fairy.

"Lilac," Butler said slowly and carefully, "what is he talking about?"

"Nothing," Lilac said, switching her stare from Butler to Elvin. "I'll go with you, okay, Elvin? Just... don't hurt them. Please."

Elvin lost his angry demeanor and grew another smirk where his frown previously was. "You made the right choice, love." He extended a hand to her, and, with an apologetic look to everybody (especially Butler), she joined his company. She didn't take his hand, but he put his arm around her and led her to the door.

But Butler wasn't going to let her leave. He narrowed his eyes, held up his gun, and just as he pulled the trigger, Elvin spun around and pointed his own gun towards the bodyguard. Elvin moved so much that he actually moved out of the spot Butler was shooting at... but the psychotic fairy's target was set.

Domovoi's relaxes saved his life. It he hadn't jerked to the side moments before it made contact, it would've hit his heart instead of his right arm. But the pain and the shock still caused him to stumble, almost fall.

"I hope that teaches you not to follow me," Elvin said.

He left through the hole in the door, with Lilac, leaving everyone either in pain, confusion, shock, or all three.
