Duel Academy is the coolest and biggest school in the whole wide world was what Jay Yusui thought getting a tour of the facility. On the outside it was extraordinary and big, but on the inside it was bigger than a building that reached the sky. There were so many stairs, so many windows, so many indoor sport arenas like the tennis court and the track field. What was great about the tennis court was he got to see girls in skirts jumping around swinging tennis rackets that was enough to excite any boy interested in the opposite sex.

There was a bathroom outside of every classroom. Speaking about the classrooms, it looked like a college classroom. Jay found the classroom to be cold when he walked through every one of those door. He would have to find a store that sold jackets just so he could feel warm in the classrooms. There were no maps in the Academy so Jay had to memorize every place he was taken to. Eventually he was taken to the only card store in the academy. You would think at how big this academy is there would more card stores.

All the boys seemed to be focused on the girl behind the counter. She was taller than all of them but didn't seem that much older than them. With blue hair she dyed into a ponytail she still had enough hair to make bangs covering her eyes; hiding her deep brown eyes. She takes a long moment putting her hand in her hair before she puts her hands on her lap and speaks.

" Hi," she says in an overly hyper attitude. " My name is K.T and I am happy to have you here at Duel Academy." Someone was behind her stepping up to the front. She looked much older but still had the cute side of a teenage girl, Jay sounded really stupid thinking that. Her eyes were hazel and her hair was light green. Her hair was covered in a cap with DJ written on it. She had a green apron on her uniform.

" My name is Sadie and I own this store. I know I don't look like it but I had a good teacher. If you have any questions please raise your hands." No one in the front raised their hands. The boys in the front were too tall for the other students to raise their hands. Jay had to push through the crowd just so she could see his hand. " Yes?"

" How much do the cards cost?"

" Good question. We have different price ranges for every pack. We want you to know just because you passed the entrance exams with the decks you used their are cards you might want to change or start with a new kind of deck. A duelist who always did that was Bastion Misawa. Beginner packs cost fifty yen each, that's fifty cents American. We also have packs that cost three hundred yen."

" But you can't buy cards today," K.T. said. " It's a rule that first day students can duel anyone they want but we haven't set up shop yet."

" That's enough about the card shop," the man in charge of the tour said. " We have much more to look at."

The two card shop owners waved good-bye as all the students walked out the door. Some of the male students had silly looks on their face as they looked at K.T's friendly smile. Jay admit to looking back to see her smile. He didn't know if it was a tactic by the card shop for customers to come back to buy more cards.

" Jay," Ciel said walking up behind him. Jay looked at Ciel and saw him holding money up to him. " Take it." Why was Ciel giving him money? Did he break something when he was in his home? " I said take it."

" Why are you giving this?"

" As you already know I was a jerk to you last night. I just thought you needed a little boast in your dueling, but I thought you can give me the duel I always wanted. Your skills are good but you have weak cards. Take this and buy cards that can make you my rival."

" My daddy said never to let anyone give me money but him or my boss."

" Who do you trust? The boy who is giving you money or the man who has given you unremarkable cards?"

" You two, be quiet back there!" The tour guide yelled.

" It's my fault. I asked Ciel a question," Jay quickly lied.

" Don't let it happen again."

Jay nodded and returned to walking with the tour. Ciel didn't give him any of the money. They took them to the library with the comfiest couch cushions Jay ever sat in. He could sit on this chair all day from how warm and cozy it was. They had a medical center for the sick and the damaged. With a big academy like this it was easy to get damaged. This two hour tour ended in the gym where chairs were laid everywhere.

" In ten minutes the counselor will come in and tell you everything you need to know about this academy," said the tour guide walking to the front door and closing it a little. " You're allowed to hang out, take out your laptops, talk, go on your cellphones, do anything but make a lot of noise until the councillor arrives. The doors will open when the councillor finishes her speech."

The tour guide locked them inside the gym. It was like his mother locking him and his father in a room to settle an argument. His father, though a good man, was impossible to talk to unless something extreme happens. Most of their arguments ended with him crying in Jay's bed just when he was getting to sleep. Jay was just sitting in a chair looking through his deck. Some cards were a little week, My Body as a Shield, Prevent Rat, Enchanted Javelin, and Gaia Power.

" You're too kind for your own good." Jay was surprised when Ciel approached him. He sat down with a flare in his one working eye. Ciel was smiling at him, but it looked more like a smirk and made Jay feel very uncomfortable. " What is it that makes someone refuse the other of giving them money? Is it pride or just he doesn't like me?"

" Friends don't give friends money," Jay said.

" We are not friends yet," Ciel said. " We hardly know anything about each other. You know that my parents are rich and I know your mother is a model. That's not enough controversy to explain what brought us to this academy. "

" We have ten minutes to talk."

" Not long enough. I don't need to know your life story, I don't want to follow you around like a stalker seeing your daily schedule, and I don't need to know what your favorite holiday is or your favorite meal. I believe what makes good friends are those that are similar in one way but completely different in the other. You're a good person; and I am not."

" You're a good person."

" No I'm not. How do I explain this to you? Do you know the movies where the anti-hero's have to kill anyone, even their own friends and ruin other people's business just to make a name for themselves?"

" Yeah?"

" Those kinds of people are my parents and it will be me soon. As they say in the Lion King, the Circle of Life, I like to think of it as the Circle of Profit. My dad made lots of money and it is his wish I make more money before I get married and have children who inherit my genetic defects."

" Dwarfism doesn't run in all families. You can be a dwarf and marry a normal size girl and have normal children."

" Do you know what I am? I'm a reminder of how bad people are still out here. I would have to be very stupid to believe I'm no different from all the students in this academy. They have hard work and stupidity, I have money."

" Money doesn't buy love or happiness."

" How would you know? You've never had either."

Before Jay could listen to another one of Ciel's bitter, tainted sentence a man walked into the gym from the backdoor. He was wearing a blue blazer and had shaven brown hair and a bushy brown mustache. His robes had a hood that looked like a raven's beak. He had five yellow buttons over his collar and wearing combat boots.

" Hello new students of Duel Academy," the man said stepping into the gym. " My name is Mr. Lory. I'm the photography club teacher and I like birds. You were suppose to meet Alexis Rhodes your councillor today, but she has business and left the Academy. She is not gone forever just for a few days I hope. You would love to met her because she has clarity and logical flow most teachers are envious.

She came back to duel academy four years after graduating, started off as a teacher working through mottled sentences, and in just two years she became the councilor. However, she is not to be described by any of you as a hot teacher or made any broad statements about her. She is married and has a kid, the end. There are some announcements she was meant to read to you I will say to you."

Jay listened to every word Mr. Lory had to say. Jay was used to watching a video where the teacher pressed a button and different slides showed up. It wasn't Powerpoint. It felt like he was watching a 3D movie on a roller coaster. Every picture had a smiling teacher or a smiling student that was creepy in Jay's opinion. Jay tried being diligent and watch the video like a good student, but Ciel kept tapping his hand.

" What?" Jay said annoyed with Ciel. Basically what Ciel was trying to do was make Jay feel bad about himself.

" You're going to be in Slifer Red."

Fast forward through the video and the very long speech about how the years in the Academy goes by quickly from what he heard about prom in the final years, how most students who go to Duel Academy grow up to live fantastic lives with lots to share in the reunion, and how it is a great place even if you are a Slifer Red to love Duel Monsters. He said kids move from Montana just to come here. Finally was his ending speech.

" When you walk out those doors a man will ask for your name than he will tell you what door you made it in through your test results and he will give you your school uniform. He will then tell you where you can find your dorm. A big feast will come to all your dorms at eight-thirty each. Like the birds who fly south to stay warm, remain with your flock."

The doors opened and their tour guide let everyone out. Just like Mr. Lory said a desk, probably the same as the desk for the entrance exams, was outside. A man with long hair and a colorful headband wearing a blue blazer was there. Jay waited in line just like everyone else and took his uniform. It was red. From what Jay heard Slifer Red is the lowest uniform in the Academy. Thinking back Jay did make mistakes in the exam, but they were so little. Does just those little mistakes make him a Slifer Red?

" I told you," Ciel said holding a yellow uniform for the Ra Yellow dorm. He was in the second highest dorm. " I told you twice you would be in Ra Yellow. Why must we be in the same classes? Why of why? You are not my brother, I cannot lie to you, I wish you were a yellow so I could show you what money can buy. But your not in yellow, I still consider you an unlikely friend, if I had to make a change it would be me in Obelisk Blue and you in Ra Yellow so I can stay one step ahead of you."

' How much of a spiteful bully can a guy get?'

Listening to Ciel talk every since he made the Academy and moving to all those places made Jay tired. Lowest rank, small dorm, dilapidated dorm, Jay didn't care. He just wanted to get to the dorm so he could sleep for the big feast tonight. Maybe he would met nicer people or his roommates on the way there.
