This took a lot of thinking but eventually I was able to finish it. I said I finished it, I never said it's good.
Jay was shivering. It was cold going outside in this Academy. He knows it's September and after September came fall and after fall came winter. How many days of fall did he have to stand outside for to freeze to death? Half of the time it would take him to die of dehydration. Jay had a fear when he found the Slifer Red Dorm it would be locked from the outside. He imagined it to be a dorm of graffiti and trash. The whole complex probably looked like garbage.
When Jay thought of garbage he thought of Ciel. Ciel wasn't a piece of trash lying in the street, he was the boy that liked to call other people garbage because he has such a high opinion of himself. Some of the stuff he said about the Slifer Red dorm was probably right. Crooked, on top of a swamp slowly sinking to the ground, full of carnivorous leprechans who wanted to eat Jay, he didn't care. All he wanted to do was sleep in a bed with covers, he hopes, and sleep until he's warm like a caterpillar warming up to be a butterfly. At least he thinks caterpillar's are warm in the cocoon. He doesn't know what a caterpillar feels when it goes through metamorphosis.
I hope this dorm has a desk so I can write to my parents and tell them all the fun things I am doing in school, Jay thinks wondering if his letters should be truthful if he was having fun or tell them little white lies if it was bad. It was only called little white lies because the person who first called them that was also a big liar. Jay learned that from his dad. Most of the knowledge kids learn is from their parents. 3/4 of the knowledge that will follow them for life is the knowledge from school and the 1/4 was what he would learn from his parents and his fun time. His imaginary ideas of what the Slifer Red dorm would be turned out to be wrong. Jay walked al the way to the west side of the island and came across a cottage with dozens of green doors for the multitudes of low grade and slacker students like him. There was a water heater installed in the left side so they probably had a shower system in the dorm. Jay hoped the shower's were not scalding hot and almost unbearable like those showers in his fifth grade camp field trip. He didn't know how his classmates could stand such hot temperatures. There was also a staircase with one flight of stairs joined to a flat surface and stairs connected to that surface for those staying in the top. Jay was staying in room 03 on the bottom. How splendid. Jay was a little paranoid about being on the top of the dorm; what if someone woke up late for class and tried to make it on time only to fall off the ramp? They could fall and hurt themselves. The mainstream of teachers probably never came here.
Jay put his key in the keyhole and opened the door. It was very bright in here. It felt like he was walking into the girl's locker room and his eyes were trying to protect his innocence by shielding him from any funny ideas. But no, it was just the sun being a jerk on Jay's first day. Jay hated this dorm already. There was empty potato chips on the floor and the sheets were dirty. Who doesn't through away his trash and never changes his sheets. The sheets helped the beds from absorbing sweat from your bod and stops the bed from stinking of your bad odors. Potato chips were also not very healthy. Jay counted nineteen potato chip bags; twelve on the floor and seven under the bottom bunk. Whoever his roommate was probably looked like he weighed two hundred pounds, smelled bad, and made had a very big nose.
It was hard to imagine someone who weighed over two hundred pounds, living in this dorm live it was his cave, and when he looked in the bathroom, the only bathroom which smelled gross, there was no sign of a toothbrush or even toothpaste. Not only was he messy but his teeth probably looked like they have gingivitis.
Jay forgot he left the door opened and was letting the cold air in. He was shivering so badly. He walked to the door and reached for the handle, a sudden figure walked into the room and hit his head into Jay. He hadn't felt pain like this except some mornings when he tries to wake his dad up and they accidentally bonk heads together. Jay remembered his word to tell himself he doesn't have a concussion, 'Zodiakku'. Then an angry, forceful hand raised his face and Jay stared at him directly in his blue eyes. He had the same clothes Jay was wearing meaning he was a Slifer as well. He didn't look very strong. His muscles looked like the only nutrition they came from were protein milkshakes. And his hair was cobalt and spiky like a porcupine.
' Ha," Jay thought looking at his ridiculous haircut. ' Animal, I knew it.'
" Do you have a problem, pal?" The boy glared at Jay with close eyes and clutched his hand in a twisting stomach motion. " This is my dorm, Slifer. Now get out."
" Wait!" Jay raised his hands in fear. " I'm new to the Academy. I was given a piece of paper that says this will be my dorm room until I get promoted into Ra Yellow. It's in my front pocket. It's under my shirt."
Jay looked with his fearful eyes at the right side of his shirt. The boy glared at Jay once again before he reached his hand in Jay's uniform and pulled out a tiny fold of white paper. It looked like the same paper mocking him when he entered the Academy two years ago. He removed that paper from Jay's hands and read what was typed on it.
Slifer Red
Jay Yusui
Room 03
" I'm so sick of his school," the boy murmured folding his paper and giving it back to Jay. "I guess we're roommates. Don't bother trying to decide what bunk you want to sleep in. We'll take turns sleeping in different bunks."
" That's not really a smart decision," Jay said looking at the bunks and the dirty sheets. " Your bed is the one with your covers. Dirt has probably already covered your bed so it would make sense if I sleep in the bed you haven't slept in."
" I like to try new things everyday. Why don't you try new things by sleeping in a different bed?"
" I don't like your idea. If you don't clean your sheets don't make someone else sleep in your dirty bed. It's something no one does."
" You have your ideas on how this is going to work and I have mine. If we cannot settle this with talking then we'll settle it with a duel."
"A duel? But the rules say we are not allowed to duel someone on our first day here."
" Forget about that rule. It only matters if you made it into Ra Yellow or Obelisk Blue. No teacher ever comes by the Slifer Red dorm in the morning. It's the perfect place to duel."
OOO
Jay never tries breaking the rules before. He was a good kid in school. It was just it looked like the kid was stronger than him and he couldn't settle his disputes with fists, and he just got here so they couldn't expel him already. Jay and the boy's Duel Disks glowed with flashing colours signaling the duel was starting.
"Let's duel."
Jay: 4000
Boy: 4000
"Since I'm older I'll go first," the boy said waiting for Jay's response so he could pick up his top card.
" That's fine by me," Jay replied.
The boy picked up the top card of his deck, he smiled with his card. " I activate the continuous Spell Card Heart of the Underdog." A card showed up with the picture of a man with long brown hair with a head band fighting a heat wave. " Heart of the Underdog. Has anyone ever used this card against you?" Jay shook his head. " A shame. It's such a fun card to play. It's effect is so versatile. Every time I draw a Normal monster I can draw another card. But it doesn't start there. If he next card I drew was a Normal monster I get to draw again. I keep drawing until I draw a card that's not a Normal monster. I set one monster facedown and end my turn."
Jay had to be very careful when he picked his card on the top of his deck. Heart of the Underdog didn't seem so scary if it was only letting his opponent draw Normal monsters. If he didn't draw a Normal monster it would be useless. The worse case scenario is he draws a Normal Monster for his draw phase and keeps drawing until he gets a spell, trap, or effect monster. Right now he was nervous about that facedown monster.
' It has to be a monster that destroys a monster when it is flip summoned. That's good. With My Body as a Shield I can destroy his monster before he tribute summons.' When Jay remembered Ciel's way of tribute summoning for those Monarch's he destroyed all the cards he tried so hard to protect. ' I have to use defence.'
" Can you get on with your move," the boy said impatient with the amount of time it was taking for Jay to play a single card.
" Okay. I set one monster facedown, set two cards facedown, and I'll end my turn." For some reason the boy had a cat face smirk on his face when Jay set his monster facedown.
He drew a card from his deck and showed it to Jay. It was a spell card which means her Heart of the Underdog doesn't get its effect. It was obvious he still had a trick up his sleeve.
" You should have attacked my facedown monster when you had the chance, and now you're going to regret not doing it. I Flip Summon Invader of the Throne (1350/1700)." The monster the boy flipped over was a long purple hair woman, tanned skin, and a red dress that looked crushed under the blue-purple throne that matched her hair but with a blue tint. " When she's summoned I can switch her control to another monster on your side of the field. I chose your facedown."
" Joke's on you," Jay laughed. " You don't even know what monster I set. And the only way you're going to find out is if you change him into Attack Mode."
" It was never about what card you gave me," the boy made his comeback. It was about summoning my pride and joy. I sacrifice your facedown for..."
' Here is comes!' Jay thought in fear. ' The Monarchs!"
" Gyakutenno Megami (1800/2000)."
Gyakutenno Megami
was a woman and not a Monarch. She looked like an elf with gold swords that looked like two swords. She had red and purple tattoos painted on her face. What she was wearing was an old fashioned pink dress, a tiara around her neck, a metal bracelet around her right arm, and carrying a long golden staff. She looked like a fairy and not one of those mean Monarchs. She was even kind of cute.
" You are not afraid of my Gyakutenno Megami?" The boy asked.
" Who would be afraid of her?" Jay said.
" I'll tell you who. You when she attacks you. Gyakutenno, take out that traitorous Invader of the Throne!"
Jay now had a reason to be afraid. Her staff was glowing with the same green light as the one in her hair. A star was fired in the air and a meteor shower rained down on Invader of the Throne!
Invader of the Throne: An Earth Attribute monster who is level 4, a Warrior type, 1350 ATK and 1700 DEF, When it is Flipped you can switch this cards control to an opponents monster (your choice). This effect doesn't work if it was flipped face up from an attack.
