Everybody stood quiet and without making a move, Jun, Ken and Cody unknowingly had taken steps back and were distancing themselves from Davis. As for the
chosen of the dark hazard himself, he was still holding the crest at his face level while it gave out the purple and black aura, he could see the fear in their eyes, they
would judge him and they would betray him, at least that was what he thought, this time however he hoped that he was wrong.
"I-I can't believe it, y-y-ou" Ken couldn't finish his sentence because Davis sat down at his side, he glanced up at the sky and began to talk
"Why do you fear the dark Ken? Why do you all fear the dark?"
"It's evil, Davis you may not see what it has done to you because you're under its control but you need to stop" said Jun trying to convince Davis
"Sister, you are wrong, the darkness is not evil, it can do great things, you fear the dark because you fear yourselves, everyone has a side that is concealed and that
can cause much pain to others, each and every one of you have guilt and pain and that is why you fear the dark, because you know that if you side with it then you
will have to face what you fear. Ken you fear the dark because of your past as the digimon Kaiser, Cody you fear the dark because of the regret of losing your father
at such a young age and Jun you fear it because you can't overcome your guilt" he said while he looked at their sad eyes
"Why should we believe what you say?" asked Cody defiantly
"Because it is the truth" he answered
"Then give us a reason, give us a reason to believe in you" said Jun while her teary eyes looked at Davis
"Fine, I only wish for revenge, I need to make them pay for everything they have done, guys, I can hear them, their voices, their screams, their pain, those
innocents, I can feel them right here" he said as he put his hand over his heart "I have done things, horrible and unforgivable things, I have killed, I have tortured, I
have ripped and dismembered, but I have never hurt an innocent, because no matter how dark and evil you may think I am, I will never lay a hand on those that are
pure of heart and clean of guilt" Davis said as his eyes began to glow in different colors, the emotions inside the hazard king were running high and his friends could
see it
"But revenge for who? Against who?" asked Cody
"The gods, revenge against the gods and everyone that is guilty of this pain that I feel, the destined and their new allies are only pawns in this game of chess, they
are being sacrificed by those who they think want the best for the dimension, I will avenge all of them, my parents, my partner, and every innocent that has lost its
life because of this war, this damned war that has made so much blood run" Davis looked at the sky and closed his eyes briefly while taking a deep breath, it was his
way of controlling himself
"I believe you" said Jun
"I thank you for that sister, as for you two" he said while he glanced at Cody and Ken "I will not hurt you, although you may think otherwise. Ken you are my friend
and you have been the closest thing I've had to a brother, you believed in me and trusted my decisions when no one would, I will not hurt you or betray you my
friend. Cody, you are the wisest of the group, you know what it's like to lose a parent, and you've grown so much in such a short time, I have confidence in your
wisdom and that it will guide you away from your prejudice and judgment" said Davis as he walked closer to the group
"This war cannot be won by defeating the other, in this war you will either live or die, please back down, I don't ask you to join me but I ask you to step aside, you
don't have to like me or even talk to me, all I want is to prevent any more bloodshed, please" his voice was pleading and his honesty and preoccupation was reflected
in his eyes
"I'll have to think about it, I still believe that the darkness is evil but I'm willing to give you a chance for old times" said Ken firmly
"Thank you Ken"
"I will step aside" said Cody shocking everyone "Innocents shouldn't have to die, but if you are lying then we will find a way to defeat you"
"What happened to the rest of the teams?" asked Davis suddenly
"Matt told me that they ended up staying in different houses but Takuya, Rika and Koji ended up in the hospital, their injuries weren't that bad but everyone wanted
to make sure" said Jun
"Who's with them?"
"Why do you want to know, are you planning to finish them off?" asked Ken
"No, it's not them I want, I want to help those that are like me" he answered
"Kouichi, , Zoe, Takato, Jeri and the blond girl Alice, they are staying thru the night to keep watch" answered Cody hesitantly
"I must take my leave then, thank you for the information, I promise you that no harm shall come to them" said Davis
"DAVIS!" yelled Ken at him
"Yes Ken"
"Why couldn't that guy Kouichi digivolve like everyone else, why did his partner say that he couldn't attack you?" he suddenly asked
"Because he cannot turn his back on his king" answered Davis smirking confidently
"You mean, he's your servant" said Cody
"No, at least not yet, but I must take my leave, goodbye" he said as he gave his back to them
"Davis, I trust you but I don't trust the darkness, that's why I am not convinced that what you say is true" said Ken as he approached him
"Why is the light so much better than the darkness?" asked Davis wanting a reply
"The light is pure, it helps and protects and will always be there to lead you to a path of happiness" responded the boy of kindness
"Then answer me my friend, where was the light when I needed it the most, when I saw those that I love die in front of me, when I spent countless nights crying
myself to sleep, when I was beaten and abused only because I begged for something to eat, when I starved on the cold ground as the rain fell, when I was rotting in
that orphanage, when everyone that I cared for mocked and bullied me, when my partner was killed. When my whole world turned black, where was the light?" he
said lowly as he continued walking down the pathway.
Ken, Jun and Cody looked at the retreating figure and couldn't help but feel sad for him, his pain was evident, there was a reason he became such a cruel and cold
man, his world had shattered to pieces when he was young and all that was left was but a shadow of a boy who once knew happiness and love.
Odaiba General Hospital
Everyone had taken turns to keep watch over Rika, Koji and Takuya, Alice, Kouichi and Jeri were currently in the waiting area drinking a coffee trying to think on what
their next move would be.
"I can't believe that he defeated my brother and Takuya that easily" said Kouichi
"Tell me about it, Rika is the strongest Tamer I've known and she was defeated with only one blow" said Jeri
"The man, he said something to us. What do you think he meant?" asked Alice suddenly
"Well, I don't know but Loweemon said that his darkness was different, he said that he wasn't evil" answered Kouichi
"I've been meaning to ask, why did your partner refuse to fight? How does he know his darkness is not evil?" asked Jeri
"I-I, well" said Kouichi stuttering
"Are you hiding something Kouichi?" she said
"Well, it's just that, my partner is very sensitive when it comes to fighting, yeah that's it, he doesn't like to fight until he is fully sure that the opponent is evil" he lied
Jeri and Alice looked at each other both not convinced with the explanation that the warrior of darkness had given them.
Meanwhile Davis had arrived at the hospital, he had used his powers and forced one of the receptionists to tell him where the Tamers and Warriors were staying, he
walked towards the hall and there he saw them, the three individuals that had the same pain that he did. Kouichi looked nervous and tried to avoid conversation with
Jeri and Alice, the latter was quietly sitting on a chair playing with her blonde hair, Jeri was holding Calumon on her arms and was looking at Kouichi questioningly.
The chosen of darkness decided to get the conversation started, he went and casually sat down next to Alice, he then looked at her in the eye and saw a pink blush
spread thru the girl's cheeks.
"Are they feeling better?" he asked calmly
"Excuse me, but I think you have the wrong people" said Jeri looking at Davis with a confused expression
"I'll ask again, are Takuya, Koji and Rika okay?" he said while his voice became darker
"Do we know you? Are you a friend of the destined" asked Kouichi
"I was, but it was a long time ago, right now I work alone" he answered
Loweemon suddenly appeared at Kouichi's side and eyed the chosen of darkness carefully, he stepped back when he realized who was in front of him, it was the same
man who they had encountered, he had defeated the other warriors and was now calmly talking to them.
"KOUICHI! IT'S HIM, HES THE MAN FROM THE BATTLE!" yelled Loweemon
"WHAT?! HOW CAN HE BE? HES JUST A TEEN LIKE US" he answered
"Wow, it took long enough" said Davis as he sighed and stood up to face the group "I hope that your friends are feeling better, I must apologize for the situation that
I put them in, but it was necessary I had to avenge my angel and they attacked me without warning" he said
"So his partner is right, YOU ALMOST KILLED THEM!" roared Jeri as Calumon hid his face in her chest
"Now, now, no need to be hostile, besides if I wanted to kill them I would have done so right on the spot, and I told you before that I could help you, that is the
reason I came here" Davis answered as he went to the soda machine and grabbed a bottle of water
"Who are you? Somehow you seem familiar to me" said Alice speaking to Davis for the first time
Davis looked at the group while taking a small sip of water, he sighed and looked at them straight in the eye "My name is Davis Gabriel Luvianne, but I'm sure that
you and Jeri know me by my fake name, I was the child of miracles, Davis Motomiya at your service, love"
"You're lying, the Davis the destined told us about was completely different from you, your hair and eyes don't match the description, plus they lost contact with him
a long time ago when he left to study abroad" said Jeri with venom in her voice
"Is that what they told you? Wow they sure have a wild imagination, I knew you wouldn't believe me that's why I brought this with me" Davis pulled out his old D-
Terminal and the old goggles that Tai had given him "I haven't used these in a long time, after Veemon was killed I lost the miracles inside of me" he said sadly
Jeri, Kouichi and Alice were flabbergasted, the items that the man was showing them didn't seem fake, they were the real things. Alice had remained silent
throughout Jeri's accusations but inside of her she wanted to follow the boy, she wanted her partner back, it was not fair that he had to be sacrificed. The sovereigns
promised to bring him back, years passed and nothing, she was all alone, and if this man offered help then she would take it even if the Tamers would turn against
her. She took a step forward and said
"You say that you lost Veemon, I lost my partner in a battle in our world, I want him back, I need him back, if what you say is true then I want in, I am willing to follow you if it means seeing him again"
"Alice, it's a trap don't you see, he's trying to fool us so that he can get to the others" said Jeri
"Jeri I'm sorry, but I don't have anyone, when Leomon died you had Takato, Rika, Kazu, Henry, Kenta, Ryo, you had everyone. I had nothing, I was left alone and the
only reason I came here was for a chance to see my partner again and if I get it then I will take it. You should do the same, I know you miss Leomon too" she
answered
"You can both join us if you want to, I give you my word that I will not harm you in any way" said Davis firmly
Alice sided with Davis signaling her acceptance of his terms while Jeri and Kouichi seemed reluctant to follow the blonde girl. Davis seeing the acceptance of the
blonde goth decided to step in and talk to the other two.
"Look, I know that I'm not exactly what you would call the "good guy" but I am trying to help you, it's my way of showing you that if you don't interfere with me then
I won't harm you, I have lost more people that I can count in my short life, I will never have the happy ending but that doesn't mean you shouldn't" He said while he
looked at Kouichi "Warrior of darkness, Duskmon is a part of you, you control him not the other way around, I can take you to a place where you can face him and
overcome your fear once and for all" He then looked at Jeri "I don't know the whole story behind your loss but I can assure you that I can help you bring him back"
"You have already said that, but what do you want from us? You want us to serve you?" asked Kouichi
"Only if you wish to do so" he answered as he began walking out the door with Alice behind him
"Guess we'll have to follow them" said Jeri
"I hope this isn't a trap" said Kouichi
The group exited the hospital with Davis in the lead, they walked to a nearby corner and the boy of darkness turned around to talk to them;
"We shall go to Primary Village, it is the place where all digimon are sent to be reborn, since both of your partner's species are fairly common it should not be difficult
to find their body and data"
"How are we going to get there? Izzi is the only one that knows how to set up a portal" said Jeri not convinced
Davis smiled at the girl and pulled out his D4A "Normally I wouldn't have to do this but since you are not transdimmensional then I guess this will have to do" he said
as he spoke in a demanding voice "Dimensional Rift, Primary Village, PORTAL OPEN!"
The group couldn't see what was happening as a light covered their sight and they were sucked into a portal that led them to the place where they would get a
chance to start over and fix their past mistakes, the digital world.
Digital World: Eastern Quadrant: Primary Village
Davis and the group appeared at the entrance of the village, it looked different than the last time Davis had been there, it was new and everything was quiet and
peaceful, the group couldn't help but smile when they saw all the baby digimon playing around happily.
"Let's go over to the nursery area, it is there where you will find your partners"
The others followed after him whispering their doubts to each other, Davis could hear them perfectly but decided to let it slide, he wanted them to understand that he
wasn't their enemy, in the distance they saw the nursery where the familiar Elecmon was tending to the babies and keeping watch over the un-hatched eggs. As soon
as he saw the group approach he leapt in front of Davis in an attacking position while growling fiercely at him;
"You!" he spat "You dare show your face here after everything you have done and after the trouble you have given Lord Azulongmon"
"Oh come on Elecmon is that any way to treat a former destined, have some respect mate" he said mockingly
"I WILL NOT! You lost my respect a long time ago when you decided to side with the dark ocean, you are a vile creature" he answered
"Look, all I want is to help these two lovely ladies, you see they lost their partners and I am offering to help them bring them back but I need to be allowed to enter
the nursery" he said calmly
"I don't give a damn about your supposed benevolence, if they are with you then they must be your pawns just like those dammed demon lords"
Davis flashed in front of Elecmon and with a swift movement he grabbed him by the ears and pulled him up so that he could see his face
"Hazard pistol!" one of the chrome pistols appeared on his right hand and he put it against the face of the digimon who was trembling with fear "Elecmon, please
don't make me do this, let me and the others into the nursery, you have much to lose, the babies here rely on you don't make a mistake and please agree" Elecmon
was now closing his eyes waiting for the end
Jeri, Kouichi and Alice could only watch as Davis threatened the poor digimon, they saw that he was trying to convince him to abandon his post and let them in but he
wouldn't give up and preferred to die. Jeri advanced and began to try and convince the digimon
"Please we mean no harm, we just want to get our partners back"
"Come on don't be a meanie and help us" said Calumon
"I-I can't, if I do, the sovereigns will kill me" he said sadly
"Well they don't have to know, you don't have to know" said Davis suddenly
"What do you mean?" he asked
"Let me show you" he looked at the digimon's eyes and said "Eye of nightmare" the digimon's eyes became glassy and he seemed robotic "You will let us thru this
gate and you will not remember anything, if you are questioned by the sovereigns or anyone else, you will tell them that I tortured the babies and yourself and that
you had to agree for the safety of the whole village. Is that understood?" he asked
"Yes master" he answered in a monotone voice as he led them to the inside of the nursery
"What did you do to him?" asked Kouichi
"I compelled him, he doesn't deserve to die and I don't kill innocents, the sovereigns will not touch him because they will think that I attacked the village and that he
was left with no choice" he said matter-of-factly
"Wouldn't that put you on the spotlight?" asked Alice
"Yes, but that is what I want, I want the gods to see that I am not playing around, by the end of this war the chrome of my pistols will be stained with their blood" he
answered in a tremendously cold voice that made everyone's spines shiver
"Were here" said Elecmon suddenly interrupting the conversation
The panorama was beautiful, small holes in the ground that contained thousands of digieggs adorned the floor, Jeri and Alice quickly felt warmth inside of them, their
D-Power digivices began to signal and pave the way towards their partners. They each went in the same direction with Davis and Kouichi behind them, they soon
found their respective eggs
"I-I can't believe it, I feel him, I feel Leomon" said Jeri happily
"I can feel Dobermon too" said Alice
They grabbed their eggs and lifted them from the ground, as they did so they emitted a bright light and began to hatch, after they did so, two new baby digimon
were born that moment, the two girls couldn't contain their tears as they saw the small creatures open their eyes for the first time and give them a big smile.
"Congratulations girls" said Davis "Now let me present these two little guys, his name is Paomon, he is the baby form of Dobermon, Alice you have your partner back"
he said to the blonde "Jeri, your digimon's name is Punimon, he is the baby form of Leomon"
Alice went over to Davis and without warning hugged him tightly, she was crying her eyes out and even Jeri was surprised because she had never seen Alice so
emotional and alive. Davis reciprocated the hug and then turned to Kouichi.
"As you can see, I have kept my word, now it is time for you warrior of darkness, to face your past and become the true warrior of the dark" he said in a firm tone
"I've been trying to fight him for so long and I can't get him out of my mind, how are you going to help me?" he asked
"That is for me to know and for you to find out but I must tell you that after this experience you will never be the same, now please follow me"
The group and their new digimon followed Davis and exited Primary Village, Elecmon was calmly tending the babies and didn't even notice Davis open up a portal.
Kouichi was nervous to say the least, he was scared of what he would have to face, but he knew that in order to leave his past behind he needed to confront it.
"It's time to go, say goodbye to Primary Village" said Davis to the group
"DIMENSIONAL RIFT! DARK OCEAN PORTAL, OPEN!"
And there it is, it looks like Davis does really want to help those that are like him. Will he succeed in helping Kouichi? Will Jeri and Alice join him now
that they have their partners back?
