Fuji T.V. building rooftop: Odaiba
Davis launched himself at Aldamon before anyone else could react, he grabbed him by his wings and started to spin him, he saw incoming attacks fly towards him
and instead of trying to evade them he used Aldamon as a shield. The digimon received heavy impacts the courtesy of his allies while being forced to cease flight as
his wings had been damaged from the pulling that Davis had administered to them, he fell to the floor and before Davis could administer a blow with his pistols; he
was stopped by Ophanimon X who attacked him and made him drop the weapons.
"EDEN'S JAVELIN"
A beam radiated from Ophanimon's javelin and went directly at Davis who was prepared to dodge it but was intercepted by both Gallantmon and Justimon who held
him by the arms, he managed to activate the hazard barrier in time and although his body wasn't damaged majorly; he was still in pain to a certain degree. He
cursed the two tamers who held him, he managed to yank his arm away and gave a fist of the beast king attack to Gallantmon; sending him flying against
Zeedgarurumon who was busy dealing with Lucemon Miracle mode. Justimon was still holding on to Davis, he sent a powerful kick to the chosen of darkness who
dodged it and retaliated with his own attack.
"DESPERADO BLASTER!"
Paildramon's blasters appeared in Davis's hands and began shooting bullets at an unrecognizable speed; hitting Justimon square in the chest, his body armor was
pierced and red liquid was seen flowing from it, he doubled in pain and the hazard king decided to continue with the rest of his opponents.
Lucemon Miracle mode was preparing to attack the fallen Zeedgarurumon and Gallantmon who were still damaged from the crash that they had experienced, she was
about to send a grand cross attack when.
"AVANLANCHE AXES!"
Kokirakumon's axes were thrown at her and managed to cut the lower half of her golden robe exposing her pale legs, this made her angry and in no time she was
pointing her angelic blade at Korikakumon's neck while the others tried to save him.
"Little Tommy, what should I do with you? In the past I would have killed you, but since I've been in the service of my master I have changed and for that reason I
will spare you"
'STRIKE OF THE SEVEN DARK STARS!"
Seven balls of fire broke thru Korikakumon's tough exterior and went inside of his body, he screamed in pain as his senses reacted to the frightening attack that he
had been delivered, this forced him to lose his warrior form; he hit the floor in his human form, still trembling in pain.
The warriors yelled in fright at their fallen friend and blinded by rage; they continued their assault on the angel of Pride. Lilithmon was currently battling the Tamers
while Davis was busying himself with his former friends, the group was managing well considering their obvious number disadvantage, the chosen of darkness wished
to keep this upper hand and via telepathy signaled his angels for a change of plans.
"Alexia, Victoria, how are you faring my angels?"
"I'm fine master, although my energy is decreasing" answered Alexia as she sent Grand Cross attack at Beowolfmon
"The same goes for me my lord" said Victoria after kicking Sakuyamon into the sky
"Let us take this battle to the skies, it will not only reduce our number of opponents but also give us an advantage"
"Understood master"
"Roger that"
The three stood back from their respective adversaries, they stretched their legs gathering impulse and then used it to fly into the sky in a fit of power that lifted dust
everywhere.
"You seem to fare well on the ground, but will you do so in the sky? Let us prove it"
The opposing group looked up to see Davis and the angels high in the sky looking down at them, Zephyrmon, Gallantmon, Megagargomon, Rosemon,
Herculeskabuterimon, Ornismon, Valkyrimon Grandiskuwagamon and Ophanimon X took off to fight the hazard group while the rest stayed on the ground helping the
injured Tommy. The battle positions had shifted now, before there were twenty one and now there were only nine, Davis decided to divide this number equally so
that each one of them would face three opponents.
"I'll take the warrior and the two tamers" said Alexia via telepathy
"Alright, then I guess I'll take Ornismon, Herculeskabuterimon and Rosemon" answered Victoria
"So it seems that I get to have fun with my little firecracker, ok then, I'll take Valkyrimon, Grandiskuwagamon and Ophanimon X"
The three went on to face their designated opponents who by now were preparing their own attacks, Rosemon invoked her thorn whip and went towards Victoria,
Ornismon put herself behind the angel of lust while Herculeskabuterimon made it impossible for Victoria to escape towards any side, she was surrounded.
"MEGA ELECTRO SHOCKER!"
"COSMIC RAY!"
"BEAUTY SHOCK!"
The ground shook as the attacks hit their target, before being hit Victoria looked over to her master and gave him a small nod, she turned her head back to the
attacks and took them all in with no hesitation and the bravery of the best warrior.
"VICTORIA!" yelled Davis hoping for an answer
"LUST, ARE YOU OKAY?" yelled Alexia too
The mist created from the attack still hadn't cleared up, the three chosen were expecting to see their opponent crash down unconscious or maybe even be erased,
but as the image became clearer they saw that what they had predicted was far from what had really happened. Victoria still stood in the air with cuts and bruises on
her body; while not bleeding she was still damaged as one could see from the condition of her clothing as well as her face which had now morphed into pure hatred
and rage.
"I gave you a chance and was even thinking of going easy on you, that offer has now expired" she said menacingly as she went towards Herculeskabuterimon
"You're going down first bug" she said as gigantic flames appeared surrounding her ATOMIC INFERNO!"
The fire attack hit the three digimon but as predicted by Victoria; it affected Herculeskabuterimon the most, his whole body was incinerated, he screamed and
squirmed in the air trying to ease the pain while his allies on both the ground and the sky could only see in desperation as he crashed down to the floor and
transformed back into the chosen of knowledge.
"Alright princesses, who's next?" asked Victoria mocking Ornismon and Rosemon who glared at her "No one, it's fine, I guess I'll just have to lure you out" she said
Victoria did not wait for her opponents to attack her, she lunged towards Rosemon and kicked her in the stomach while producing a hollow sound which indicated that
something inside of her had been broken, she began to cough violently while her stomach became red, Victoria could see that she was bleeding internally and decided
to end the battle.
"It was nice to battle you, let's do it again sometime" she flew higher into the air and yelled "TERRA FORCE!"
The gigantic energy ball hit its target, Ornismon fell consumed by pain and exhaustion, she transformed back into a barely conscious Sora who was being helped by
the other digimon who were on the ground.
Alexia and Davis had continued to battle their respective foes with high success, the chosen of darkness had delivered a positron laser shot at Valkyrimon; taking her
out of combat permanently. Alexia had used her angelic blade to slash Zephyrmon's wings and watched her fall in a bloody mess, not satisfied with that she had
produced an eye of nightmare attack that prompted both Gallantmon and Megagargomon to attack each other, after they had both sustained heavy damage; she
sent them crashing together to the floor. Davis had been taunting and playing with his opponents, this was the reason why out of all the enemies they were the only
ones remaining, the angels regrouped and took a mental picture of their surroundings, it was three against three, the hazard group versus Valkyrimon,
Grandiskuwagamon and Ophanimon X.
"So it has come to us, just like old times, huh Ken" Davis said as he directed himself to Grandiskuwagamon
"I'll make you pay, for my brother, for T.K. for everyone you've hurt, Davis we will stop you" said Ophanimon X thru gritted teeth
Davis took his gaze to Ophanimon X and ignored everyone else, it was as if only the two of them existed in the night sky "Hikari, what am I going to do with you? In
the past I would of never dreamed of lifting even a finger against you, after all you were my muse, my love, my light" he said as everyone even the angels fell silent
"I know it sounds stupid coming from someone like me but I really cared for you know, but I cannot erase what I've done and you cannot erase what you did to me
all those times, I won't kill you today, I won't kill you tomorrow, I will let you live and see just how much you affected my life and who I became"
"CORONA BLASTER!"
He fired the attack at Valkyrimon who was too caught up in the conversation that had just taken place before to react in time and dodge it, it was a full blown hit, she
doubled in pain and crashed to the floor with her wings on fire.
"YOLEI!" yelled Grandiskuwagamon as he saw his friend hit the ground
"How many more times? HOW MANY MORE TIMES WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT YOUR ENEMY?" yelled Davis in a sudden rage "YOU
KNOW WHAT FORGET IT, ITS TIME TO END THIS BATTLE"
He flew up higher in the air and instructed his angels to petrify both digimon, they quickly stood in front of each of them and petrified their bodies making them
unable to move and by definition; two sitting ducks.
"The time has come, thank you my friends for a battle well fought" said Davis as a gigantic cannon appeared on his shoulder and was then aimed at the two digimon
"POSITON…..LASER!"
The two digimon squirmed trying to free themselves and get out of the way of the attack but failed to do so, their bodies and those of their partners were falling to
the ground and before they could do so they were caught by Davis and his angels who then proceeded to land gracefully back at the rooftop of the Fuji T.V. building.
"Don't even try to continue this fight" he said as he looked at the rest of the digimon with a glare "Your friends are in no condition to continue and with your inability
to fly, you would be sitting ducks for us, you have lost, chosen"
The group looked at each other, they had managed to revive those that had been unconscious and they knew that they couldn't do anymore, they had lost, and they
had truly lost this time. They expected Davis to kill them at any moment, they waited but the attacks never came, he instead sat at the edge of the building while he
looked at the horizon, he looked troubled almost.
"How many times will it take, how many battles will have to be fought until you understand that I am not your enemy?" he turned to the group who was looking at
him with confusion "What happened to Veemon was wrong, it was uncalled for, but I still refuse to kill you, because I know that he would never forgive me for it"
turning to Gatomon and Kari he said "He cared you know, he would sit at our window and look up at the stars and whisper your name, he was hurt that he could
never be the angel you deserved, but unlike me he was selfless and kept quiet and to himself. He loved you right till his last breath"
Davis did not say anymore, he looked back at the group of chosen and made a peace sign with his right hand, he then crept closer to the edge of the building and
with his back turned; he jumped and was followed by Alexia and Victoria.
Gatomon and Kari stood frozen, taking in each word that Davis had said, the cat digimon's eyes welled up with tears while the rest of the group limited themselves to
remembering the look Davis had in his eyes, they reflected the pain behind his words and for the first time since the war had started, the chosen saw a side of him
that they thought was inexistent, they saw a human side.
Kabukicho: Tokyo
The angels had gone home for the night to tend to their respective injuries, Davis had only a ripped shirt and a couple of small cuts that were easily concealable, he
decided to go pick up Lily who he knew was asleep by now. His steps were absent, like he wasn't even trying to move, his body felt tired but not from the battle, he
was tired from his life and it was taking a toll on him, all he wanted to do at the moment was pick up Lily and get some rest.
"Good evening Jade, I hope she wasn't much of a problem"
"Nonsense, she was as well-behaved as always, you could learn a few things from her" she answered to which Davis chuckled
"I'll keep that in mind darling; once again thank you and good evening" he said as he took Lily in his arms and disappeared into the night
Davis kept walking with Lily in his arms until he reached his car; he deposited the sleeping child into the passenger seat and drove off to Olympian towers. The car
sped thru the dark streets while the young man was silent, he didn't put any music on so that Lily wasn't woken by it; he just drove and drove, lost in the silence of
the night and the rumbling of the expensive supercar. He stopped at a gas station to fill up the tank and while he got out of the car he heard a familiar ringing coming
from his D4A, he knew what it indicated, it was permission for a holographic video call.
"My king, you finally pick up I have some important news" said Wisemon thru the holograph looking excitedly
"I apologize, I was in the middle of a battle with the chosen, but in free now; what news do you bring me?" he asked
"As you know I have been in hot pursuit of the coordinates for the location of the central quadrant, until this point I had assumed that it was in Odaiba but was not
sure as to which exact place"
"I don't mean to be rude sensei, but I don't think you called me at this time of the night just to give me information that I have already memorized" he said with
doubt
"Indeed I haven't, my king prepare yourself" said Wisemon
"You are not making any sense; please explain to me what I have to prepare myself for"
"I have found the exact location of the portal to the central quadrant" answered Wisemon
Davis was at a loss for words, he didn't know whether to feel impatient, happy or downright grateful, he had been looking for that damned portal for such a long time
and now it was finally at his reach, he carefully clicked the menu of his D4A and surely there it was; the map and coordinates for the portal.
"Thank you sensei, I am forever in your debt" he said still not believing his eyes
"I am honored to be of service my king, I would advise that you access that portal in the nighttime, as you know the location is not a convenient one and it would be
beneficial if it was opened without any interference"
"I understand, once again thank you, I will see you soon sensei"
"Until then, my king" said Wisemon as the video call ended
The hazard chosen turned on the engine again and headed towards his penthouse, he would wait until morning to tell the angels and then he would come up with a
plan of attack, he would finally get his revenge, he glanced at Lily who slept peacefully in the passenger seat; after all of this was done, he would take her away from
that city and build a new life far away from the past that haunted them all, but for now he would occupy his mind with the location of the portal.
"It's time to give a little visit to Highton View Terrace"
Olympian Towers: Tokyo
Davis opened the door and turned on the lights to the apartment, he went into one of the rooms and put Lily since she was still sleeping, grabbing his old music box;
he sat down in front of the fireplace, in the flames he saw his life, his past, his losses and the battles he had won. Destiny did not apply to him since he had mocked it
so many times, infinite amount of times he had overcome the most difficult tasks and lived to tell the tale, but he would be lying to himself if he said that what had
transpired earlier in the night had no effect on him, in the end it came back to hating, the destined, they hated him, and Kari; she loathed him with such an intensity
that was unmatched.
Where did it all go wrong? He wondered inside his mind, he wondered if it would have been different if he had chosen to stand down, if his parents would still be
alive, if Veemon hadn't been killed, if all the darkness inside of him had been taken out and replaced by light, would it have made a difference.
"I guess we will never know" he said as he chuckled
"What wont we know, Oni-Chan?" asked a child's voice from the hallway
"I didn't see you there Lily, I like your company but what have I told you about staying up so late, missy" he said in a father-like tone
"That I'm not supposed to because I need sleep to become big and strong" she said as she puffed her chest out and flexed her arms trying to show her "muscles"
"Then may I ask why are you up so late?" he asked
"I couldn't sleep Oni-Chan, I started getting bad dreams, I saw mommy and daddy and then they left and I tried to chase them and I'm scared, I don't want to sleep
tonight, I don't wanna dream that again" she said with fright in her voice
The hazard chosen looked at the child and nodded, he knew that these nightmares were the result of the trauma and abuse she had sustained while under the care of
her relatives, they had been punished horribly for their evil deeds but the damage lingered. Lily approached him and took his hand, his eyes traveled to hers and they
could both see the pain that the other was in, Davis smiled at her and went to the storage room to pick up something he was sure would make her forget all her
troubles. He returned to the room and said
"Lily, do you know what this is?" he asked as he showed a musical instrument in his hand
"It's a flute?" she said confusedly
"Hahaha" he laughed lowly
"Oni-Chan! Don't laugh!" she said while pouting
"Alright, alright, it's an ocarina, I bought in one of my travels to Eastern Europe, and I recall you asking me if I could play the flute, I know it is not the same but I
wanted to show you a song that my mother used to play when I was little"
"REALLY!" squealed the child as she awaited Davis's performance
"Here it goes"
Davis put the ocarina on his lips and began to play a harmonious melody that enchanted the senses of those that were lucky enough to heart it, the soft tunes echoed
thru the apartment and escaped thru the window into the sky, the child's eyes lit up with each note that was played and she decided to sit in Davis's lap, looking up
at him she admired his kindness, his devotion and his love for the people he cared about, in her eyes he was a true angel.
The song ended and Davis opened his eyes to find Lily looking at him with such admiration that it made his heat melt, he put the ocarina on a nearby table and asked
her.
"Did you like the song? I know that I'm a little rusty but I hope that it was at least decent"
"ONI-CHAN!" she said as she hugged him tightly "It was beautiful, what's the name of it?" she asked
"Mother never named it, she liked to compose but this piece was one of the few she didn't have the chance to name, I guess it would be adequate to name it, I don't
think she would mind if I do" he answered as he looked at the ceiling
"What are you going to name it?" she asked
"Lily's song" he answered with pride as the child beamed at him
Lily's song, man I'm so original, but getting back on track, the portal has been located, the chosen have been defeated and it seems that we are
finally seeing a side of Davis that is human. How will that new side affect him? Will the chosen still try to stop him? Will Kari hate him forever?
