I woke up in the morning feeling better than I ever had before. Maybe it had to do with not having any emotions, which certainly was liberating, but I was pretty sure it had to do with being a hybrid. I stood by the window and flicked my ring off, basking in the sunlight.
I decided to call over some guys from a local frat house because I wanted some good old-fashioned, possibly alcohol-infused blood. Whether or not I would kill them would depend on how I felt at the time. I definitely wanted to play with my food a little.
I left the ones that had passed out on the stairs. I decided to play strip poker with the ones who were still conscious. The rules were simple. I would get to take a bit from whoever had the lowest hand.
"Xavier, looks like it's your turn." I declared before walked over and gave his hand to me.
"Hey, those two guys on the stairs owe a Persian rug." Damon stated. I turned toward him as I finished. He was with our mother. I assumed Leah and Anna had already gone to school.
"Actually, they owe us a Persian rug." I pointed out. "I live here too. Now would either of you like to play a hand?"
"So I take it this is what Rebekah had in mind when he compelled you to Elena." Mom quipped.
"These guys are helping me enjoy my life." I declared. "Though, I still have to try something else. I don't know when I'll get to that."
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Damon answered it and Nik walked in.
"Where is Sara?" He asked as he walked in and over to me. "She left me here. My tart of a sister left me here."
"You seem to think that I should care." I pointed out.
"You're Rebekah's brother?" Damon asked.
"Niklaus, it's a pleasure." He remarked before turning back to me. "So which room is mine?"
"You can't stay here." I stated.
"And here I thought Southerners were supposed to be hospitable." He declared. "I guess I'll just pick one."
He then looked at our mother.
"Hey, I know you. You're Kol's girl." He pointed out. "Maybe you could come and see me some time."
"I'll pass." Mom stated before Nik went upstairs to put his stuff down. I figured that I should get ready for school.
"Okay, it looks like he's staying." I stated. "I hope that's cool. I'm going to school. You can get rid of these guys."
I went upstairs and changed into a blue sleeveless blouse with a grey skirt with white film reels on it with black hose, pink socks, black boots and a navy scarf. I grabbed myself a bag of blood for the road in case I got hungry. It tasted better warm, but what could you do?
I headed to the school and began to look for anyone who looked delicious. I also figured that I should let Jeremy see the new me. Interestingly enough, I crashed right into him as he was coming out of the bathroom.
"Well what do you know?" I remarked. "It's funny how history repeats itself."
"Get out of my way, Sara." He stated. I assumed that he knew. He tried to moving, but this time I deliberately blocked his path. "What are you even doing here?"
"What do you mean? I go here. Go T-Wolves Woo!" I replied. "And so does Elena, so I'm here."
"I need to get to class." He stated as he tried to walk off.
"Class is that way." I replied as I grabbed him by the arm.
"Let me go, Sara." He ordered.
"You think I want to be a high school student for the hundredth time? If have to be here, so do you. Now go to class." I declared.
"Let him go." Leah demanded. I just laughed and pushed her against the trophy case.
"I have 120 years on you and I'm a hybrid." I warned her. "You should not mess with me. I'll see you two in class."
I headed to class to an empty room. I knew the seniors would be in History. I noticed that a girl was seated next to Jeremy and I wouldn't stand for it.
"You're in my seat." I told her and she promptly got up. I smiled at Jeremy. I was a little bit surprised when I saw who the teacher was.
"Good morning, everyone." Nik stated. "Welcome to Junior English. In this class, we'll be covering some great novels of the past and present. My name is Niklaus Mikaelson. The first book you need to get is Mary Shelley's masterpiece: Frankenstein: Or the Modern Prometheus."
I had to admit the idea of him as a teacher was pretty laughable. I couldn't help but if Rebekah told him to watch over me, Elena, and Tyler. Since he was obviously too old to be a student, it seemed like the only option. He probably was probably qualified to teach based on his long life, even though he had trapped in a coffin for the past 88 years. He had read a little since coming back, but he definitely couldn't have covered that much time.
After school, I noticed that Elena was on the track. I also noticed that Leah had decided to try out for cheerleading since they needed someone to replace Dana because she was too dead. I could tell that Tyler was enjoying being a hybrid because he compelled the coach to end practice.
I began to run beside the doppelganger.
"It's nice to see you again." I remarked.
"Don't you have anything other to do than bother me?" She asked. She was acting like I was trolling her or something. If I wanted to troll her, I would be much more annoying.
"What's wrong? I want to be friends with you." I declared with a fake pout. "That's a nice scarf. It looks good on you. Where'd you get it?"
"Go away, Sara." She ordered.
"Why it is that no one likes you anymore when you suddenly have a poisonous substance that kills vampires produced by your gums? You know discrimination is a bad thing." I joked. She just turned her head away from me. "You know if you think that I'm annoying now, just wait until Homecoming. By the way, do you know who your brother's bringing because I don't want things to be weird for us?"
She kept running and bumped into some guy that I had never seen before.
"Sorry." She apologized.
"Watch where you're going, Douche." I declared as I shoved him to the ground.
"Who the fuck are you?" She asked me as the random student ran away.
"I'm someone that has been assigned to protect a human blood bag." I declared. "Now I'm trying to be nice to you, but if you don't want that, then I can be a bitch to you. Your hair is way too flat. It could really use some volume and no amount of training is going to make you strong enough to fight me, so you might as well not even try."
I then went home and noticed that I had gotten another text from Rebekah. She was using the blood that she had taken from Elena to find more werewolves to turn into hybrids. As far as I knew, she wasn't looking to turn any more vampires, even though I was stronger than any werewolf she could turn. It could have been just because she didn't have any more witches to make the potion.
One thing that I managed to catch from simply listening at school was that Jeremy was seeing ghosts after having been brought to life by Bonnie's spell. They were probably making more of a big deal out of it than it was. It basically meant that he had people talking to him that no one else could see. Okay, that was a bit weird.
I noticed that everyone else seemed to be gone. Well that was what I thought until I walked into the living room.
"So you're still here." I commented.
"You know I was almost expecting you to have a pair of furry ears and a tail." She quipped.
"You probably don't want to see me when I have my tail." I replied. "So it is you or Leah who's dating Elena these days? The two of them looked pretty close last night."
"The only reason that I wasn't here was because Katherine kidnapped me." She pointed out.
"You know I'd love to hear your life story but I have a party to get ready for.
I decided that what I was wearing was a bit formal and changed into a tight white long-sleeved tee and black miniskirt.
The back-to-school party would be different from last year. Last year I was the hot new girl that everyone wanted to get with. Well two of those things were probably still true. I was still hot and everyone still probably wanted to get with me.
It wasn't all that different than last year. There was a bit of supervision in the form of Nik but he didn't really look too interested in being a chaperone. I noticed that Matt and Bonnie were there, but everyone else seemed to be mysteriously absent. I didn't think that they would blow off the party because of me, so it meant that they were up to something. I just didn't really have any idea what their plan was.
There was one difference. They had a keg that wasn't there last year. I decided to help myself to a drink from it while I waited for everyone else to show up. I noticed that Jeremy finally showed up.
"Why are you so pouty?" I asked. "I thought you wanted me to come back."
"I didn't want you to come back as an emotionless wolf girl." He pointed out.
"Then I guess your standards are too high." I replied. "So can I offer you a drink? You know if you don't want to fuck me, I'll find someone else who does."
"So you're just going to sit there and act like you never cared about me." He noted.
"I did care about you but I don't care about you now." I explained. "It's not like I forgot who I was. I just don't want to be that girl anymore."
"Are you afraid to be?" He asked.
"I can't be afraid." I pointed out. "You really should just stop trying to get me to go back to the way that I was and just accept the new me. Or maybe you could move on and stop waiting for me to change."
"Maybe you really aren't the same girl because the Sara that I know knew me better than that." He commented. I then noticed something else more interesting. It was my mother flirting with Nik.
"What is this about?" I asked. "My mother wouldn't just switch brothers like that."
"Well maybe you don't know her that well." Jeremy replied. "You have been gone the past few months after all. Are feeling some sort of emotion?"
"No, my mom can date whoever she wants to." I declared. I realized that they were trying to manipulate me and I couldn't fall for it.
I then noticed that Elena was trying to walk away from the party without anyone else around and I realized that I needed to follow her.
I found out that she wasn't alone. She was with Leah and both of them were very drunk.
"I used to know all of the constellations, Leah." Elena stated. "Why can't I remember them?"
"Because you're drunk." I answered as I walked over to them.
"Looks like someone's here to join the party." Leah remarked.
"You two should probably get home." I suggested. "I don't care whose it is, but you're both wasted."
"Fine, let me get my keys." Elena declared.
"You can't be serious." I replied.
"Uh oh, Leah, looks like the fun police is here." She remarked as Leah giggled. She then climbed on the top of the bleachers.
"Get down." I ordered. "You're gonna fall."
"Rebekah definitely would not like that." Elena stated. "I can't fall if I jump."
Suddenly she was airborne and I raced to the bottom to catch her.
"I knew you'd catch me." She declared. Why hadn't Leah done it? I then suddenly felt a pain in my back and began to feel sleepy. I had fallen for their trap.
When I woke back up, I was being pulled out of the back of Ric's car before it went up in flames. I could only wonder what I had missed when I was unconscious. I also couldn't help but why they bothered to pull me out. I wasn't even sure if fire could kill me. I knew one way I could die would someone ripping my heart out and I assumed decapitation would work but aside from that, everything else was a mystery. Maybe Rebekah would be able to enlighten me on that. It looked like whatever their plan was, like the car, went up in smoke.
I headed back to the house, which was apparently what they did as well.
"Are you done trying to get me to feel things?" I asked. "There is nothing that you can do to get me to turn my humanity back on."
"You were worried about me tonight when I fell." She pointed out.
"No, but I had to save you so Klaus can create more hybrids." I argued. "Do you think that this is your fault? I chose to be like this and not everything has to do with you. Why don't you just blame Tyler for biting Leah or maybe blame Damon for getting Jeremy killed, but it's definitely not your fault?"
"You won't let me die and it's not because of Rebekah, it's because you care about me." She responded.
I then went and grabbed her by the neck.
"If Klaus hadn't told me to keep you alive, I would kill you right now." I told her.
Suddenly I felt a pain in my abdomen. I put her down and noticed that there were two stakes sticking out of me. That was really painful. I wasn't expecting that. I hunched over and pulled them out. Maybe she wasn't as weak as I thought.
As you can see people don't seem to be thrilled about Sara's change. Also Klaus is a teacher. Please don't forget to review.
