Olympian Towers: Tokyo

The first rays of sunshine began to illuminate the living room indicating the start of a new day, Davis was the first to awake and noticed that Lily had fallen asleep at

his side with the ocarina still clutched between her hands, he looked at her and smiled warmly, how could someone so small, so innocent; be so powerful and give

such light to his heart of darkness, he would never know. He placed the still sleeping child on one of the couches and went to take a shower, the warm water ran thru

his body making him feel at peace for a small moment, he quickly dressed himself and headed towards the kitchen to start breakfast, the angels were still showering

and Lily was still asleep; he decided to wake her up so that she could also take a shower before leaving for school.

"Lily, Lily. Are you awake?" he asked poking one of her cheeks

The child turned over and slowly opened her eyes while rubbing them with one of her hands "Oni-Chan, good morning" she said while getting up with the ocarina still

in her hand

"Did you sleep well Lily? Did you have any more nightmares?" he asked with concern

"No, I think the song worked, here's your oca-thingy" answered the child as she handed the ocarina to Davis who didn't do anything to accept it, he said instead

"It's called ocarina; Lily, and I want you to keep it, music has always been an escape for me and I believe that it can be the same for you, it will help you in ways that

you can't even imagine"

"REALLY!" she said overenthusiastically while running towards Davis and giving him a strong hug and a kiss on the cheek

"Yes and I know that it will sound corny but I wanted to say this; each time you play that ocarina I will be there listening to you, in body or in soul but I will always

be there, and each time I hear your song, each time that I play it; you will always be there with me" he said with such sincerity that it made the child tear up

"Thank you, thank you, Oni-Chan, I'll always carry it with me" she answered as she hugged Davis once again

"Now go shower, you don't want to be late do you?"

"Yes Oni-Chan"

Lily skipped away happily to the restroom to shower, Davis took a sip of his Earl Grey while he waited for the angels to come out of the room, Alexia and Victoria soon

stepped out fully prepared for their day, they bid their master good morning and were handed cups of tea.

"How was your night?" he asked

"I slept comfortably, a couple of mosquitoes but who can complain" answered Victoria

"Same for me master, the mosquitoes bothered me for a while until I burned them" said Alexia while Davis laughed at her sincerity

"I'm glad that you slept well, but there is something I must tell you" he said suddenly turning dead serious

"Is everything alright, my lord?" asked Victoria

"Please don't tell us it's the chosen again" complained Alexia

"No it's not them this time" he said his eyes searched theirs "I received a call from Wisemon yesterday as I drove back home, he informed me that he has found the

portal to the central quadrant" after saying this he went quiet

"That's fantastic, finally after so many years" said Alexia happily

"What are we waiting for then, let's go kill those bastards" Victoria said as she drank the last of her tea and headed to the door

"I admire your enthusiasms but there is one major problem"

Davis lowered his cup onto the table and began to pace around the kitchen, his mind swirled and danced around the idea of getting revenge, but there was the

location problem, he knew where it was but the outside interference would surely put a strain in his plans, the angels looked at him quizzically expecting an answer.

"The portal is in Highton View Terrace"

"Highton?" wondered Victoria

"View Terrace?" finished Alexia

The two angels remained in their confusion for a number of seconds until they realized what the location meant; they turned to look at each other in shock and then

looked at Davis who managed to pull off a strained smile

"OH MY!" Alexia was the first one to react

"Please don't tell us" interrupted Victoria

"I'm afraid so, the portal is in the building where Tai and Hikari live" said Davis grimly

"But master didn't you tell us they had moved after the battle of 1995?" inquired the angel of pride

"Apparently they did but after the government deemed the apartment complex to be secure they decided to go back living there, it's logical considering it is close to

school and business and according to Tai the rent is cheap"

"I suppose this means that we cannot just go and open the portal to kill the gods, right?" asked Victoria

"As you know the opening of the portal will make their digivices go haywire, the portal opening will easily be identified, we need to find a way to open it but without

them finding out so they cannot stop us, am I correct master?" said Alexia turning from Victoria over to Davis

"You are correct, my first thought had been to open the portal while they are in school but then I reconsidered the implications that this would bring; the problems we

have been causing will not go unnoticed and the police at the moment are on high alert because of them, we must do it in the nighttime when it is easier for us to go

undercover without being seen"

"But at nighttime the destined will be there, the Tamers and Warriors will probably be close by in some of the nearby apartment complexes and it would be even

worse if they found out and cornered us into a battle" said Victoria while Davis looked thoughtful

"We must not take this lightly, we will not dive into this, let us plan first and then execute our actions, for now let us wait, the portal will not go anywhere" he finally

said with an edge of impatience

*CRASH*

Before Davis could continue with his talk there was a loud crash in the bedroom where Lily was currently brushing her hair, the angels and the chosen of darkness

quickly made their way to the door and opened it to reveal Lily looking at her digiegg that had apparently hatched with a face full of curiosity.

"It's hatched, the egg hatched; Oni-Chan" said Lily as the smoke and light coming from the egg started to clear out

"Are you ok, Lily?" asked Davis hoping that the hatching of the egg hadn't scared the child

"Yes but what about my egg?" she asked

Alexia was standing in the doorway along with Victoria, Davis signaled them to come into the room and analyze the creature that had come out of the egg, the spot

where the egg was had finally become visible and a small digimon started to open its eyes.

"What is it?" asked Lily curiously as she looked over to Davis for an answer

Davis looked at the baby digimon and grabbed it careful not to hurt it, it was slimy and looked at exactly like Patamon's baby form, the digimon jumped from his

arms and went straight towards Lily who didn't know what to do, as soon as the creature was standing in front of her it began to glow once again, the digimon soon

began to grow bigger and change into a form that Davis and the angels knew all too well

"Tokomon?" said Davis in confusion

"It's not Tokomon, look at its forehead" said Alexia with the same confusion

The digimon was exactly like Tokomon except for one major difference; on his forehead was a massive X that distinguished it from any other in-training digimon,

Victoria was the only one that didn't have a look of surprise on her face; she had heard of the powerful X-antibody but this was the first time that she had seen it in

such a small digimon, she decided to speak up so to clear all the doubts that were suddenly bombarding Davis, Lily and Alexia.

"My lord if I may, that digimon is Tokomon X, the reason he has that X on his forehead is to signal that he possess the X-antibody, the latter is a special type of data

modifier that makes those that carry it able to reach levels of power that are considered beyond normal for their species"

"I see, so not only is his appearance different from Tokomon but his power is also greater" said Davis while his chin rested on his left palm

"Curious creature that he is, I guess that in the end Lily was destined to have an angel as a partner" said Alexia looking over to the spot where Tokomon X was

The small digimon jumped into Lily's arms and snuggled against her chest, the child looked at the digimon and beamed at him before doing the same in Davis, Alexia

and Victoria's direction, the chosen of darkness felt a mix of happiness and uncertainty in his emotions, his facial mask was in its place but inside of his mind he

couldn't get the thoughts to go away.

"Another point in the prophecy has been completed; if everything goes according to that damned tablet then she will have to fight, NO! I REFUSE TO LET AN

INNOCENT CHILD FACE SUCH A CRUDE REALITY" he thought

"Oni-Chan, I think he's hungry" said Lily as Tokomon X began to chew on her shirt

"Yes, in-training digimon eat a lot, now why don't we go to the kitchen and ill prepare something for both of you" said Davis from the doorway "While I make

breakfast, can you two explain to Lily how to take care of the little guy" asked Davis to the angels who nodded and followed him thru the door

The rest of the early morning passed with no further surprises, the angels had explained to Lily how to take care of the small digimon, she had been very attentive

and quickly understood the responsibility of having a digimon partner, Tokomon X would stay in the apartment since he seem to be calmer than most in-trainings and

his food was already conveniently placed on a low table for him to eat during the day. Davis and Lily bid the angels goodbye and headed towards Odaiba elementary

to drop off the chosen of purity, she happily sung the tune from the previous night and gave Davis a goodbye kiss as she exited the car and happily skipped into the

school.

Odaiba High School

The walk to school was different than other times; it was quiet and peaceful, his headphones were in his ears and the music cruised thru his senses making him

forget the imminent face off that was going to occur once he arrived at the school. Those involved in the battle were still in the hospital so the number of destined

would be greatly diminished; only Matt and Joe would be present at school since Cody still attended middle school.

"Gabriel, Gabriel" said a voice he recognized as Yuzuki

"Hello Ms. Tezuka, it has been a while" he said politely as he greeted the girl who held a stack of papers in her arms

Yuzuki looked at the boy that had saved her and gave him a small smile at his politeness "You don't have to be so polite, call me Yuzuki please"

"Very well Yuzuki, how have you been?" he asked honestly curious about the development of the teenager's life after Osamu's death

"It's been good, I'm part of the student committee and its really fun, I get to organize events and meet lots of cool people" she said with enthusiasm "Oh! I almost

forgot, here" she said as she gave a flyer to Davis "This is for the school's annual music festival"

"And what is this music festival you speak of?" he asked with curiosity

"Well, it's an event that lasts from 7pm to midnight, choirs, bands and singers from all the schools gather in the main auditorium and perform for a chance to win a

grand prize, you should try it, I hope this year is different though" she explained

"Why? What happened in other years?"

"The same people won twice, the teenage wolfs have won the thing for two years in a row, it's time for someone new to win" she said

"Alright, so if I decide to sign up, can I come to you?" he asked

"Yes, all you need is to specify if you are a solo or a band and if you're in a band then write down the names of the members"

"Very well, I shall keep that in mind, than you Yuzuki and have a good day" he said politely as he walked away with the flyer still clutched in his hand

"From seven to midnight and the wolfs are probably performing, that means the chosen will be there and not at Highton View, I think I just found the perfect

distraction" he thought as he made his way to the classes

The first half of the school day passed relatively calm for Davis, he didn't see Matt or Joe until his physical education class and the teacher was in such a bad mood

that it made it impossible for the destined to even approach Davis without being scolded. Lunchtime came all too soon, walking over to the cafeteria he spotted both

chosen sitting at the usual table, he searched for an empty table and found none, the only thing closest was the table were Kohaku the guy Davis had saved from

being bullied was currently sitting at.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" asked the chosen of darkness

Kohaku looked up from his food and saw the familiar face that had saved him once, he gave him a nervous smile and motioned him to sit down, Davis began to talk

to Kohaku about how things had gone with Satoshi and his group of bullies.

"How have you been Kohaku? Have those assholes tried to bully you again?" he asked

"No, after the beating you gave them they started to be nicer to people, they still give me a glance from time to time but they haven't tried anything" answered the

teen as he played with his food

"That's good, nobody should take advantage of another person like that, you know what I hate about school" he said

"What?" asked the other boy

"The judgment that is given by all the students, I mean people can't stand that everyone is different and that we all like different things, you know, I wish that people

would just accept others like they are and not gossip and bitch about others but I guess that's too much to ask"

"Why do you say that? Did you get bullied?" said Kohaku with surprise

"Trust me when I say that I went thru hell, not just because of my appearance but also because of what I like, the same as you"

Davis and Kohaku continued talking and eating, Davis got some surprised glances from the students who apparently thought that it was wrong for someone as

popular as him to sit down with Kohaku; the chosen of darkness didn't mind what everyone thought so he continued to talk with the boy who turned out to be a very

nice person. As the talk progressed and both of them began to discuss their hobbies; Davis learned that Kohaku was very good with electronics, lighting and effects

since he used to be part of the drama club back when he was in middle school, he formulated a plan in his mind and made the teenager an offer.

"Are you going to participate in the music festival; Kohaku?" he asked

"Probably not, I don't sing or play any instruments Ill attend but it's just to see the bands play" said Kohaku rather sadly

"I have a proposition to make, Alexia, Victoria and yours truly will be performing that day and we need someone to help us with the lights and special effects, I was

wondering if you could help me?"

"I guess I could help you, what effects do you have in mind?"

"I'll call you about them, here's my number" said Davis as he wrote down his number on a napkin

End of the day

Davis hadn't seen Matt or Joe since lunch and he expected them to be at the hospital were the chosen were currently hospitalized, he called Victoria so that she could

pick up Lily from school and then Alexia to check on Tokomon X who was in the penthouse alone. The drive to the hospital was long since it was on the other side of

Odaiba; Davis made the supercar roar as he exited the storage lot and headed towards the hospital.

"It's never enough to say I'm sorry, it's never enough to say I care, but I'm caught between what you wanted from me and knowing if I give that to you I might just

disappear, nobody wins when everyone is losing, it's like one step forward and two steps back no matter what I do you're always mad, and I, I can't change your

mind, I know it's like trying to turn around on a one way street, I can't give you what you want and its killing me, and I, I'm starting to see, maybe were not meant

to be"

The love song played loudly making Davis reminisce about Kari, he couldn't help but compare the lyrics to his actual situation, they were not meant to be and even

though it was a truth that was supposed to hurt; he wasn't going to let it stop him from completing his objective.

Odaiba Hospital

The chosen were all gathered in the waiting hall of Odaiba hospital, some had stayed throughout the night while others like Matt, Cody and Joe had arrived right after

school ended. All of those injured were making healthy recoveries but the bitter taste of defeat still lingered, Davis arrived in the parking lot and headed towards the

front desk were a young nurse was currently rapidly filing information, he cleared his throat to get her attention and after seconds that passed like hours the woman

finally looked up and offered assistance.

"Is there anything you need?" she asked

"Yes I am looking for two people that came in yesterday in the early hours of the morning" he answered

"What are their names?"

"Ken Ichijouji and Hikari Kamiya"

She began to type furiously on the computer and after various clicks and scroll downs she found the two chosen "Here they are, both of them are on the twelfth floor

in the recovery department, Ken Ichijouji is in room 124 and Hikari Kamiya is in 117"

"Thank you I'll be on my way" he said as he disappeared in the hallway

He reached the elevator and stopped headed to the gift shop/cafeteria first and after purchasing what he needed he made his way to the 12th floor, he expected the

chosen to try and stop him from seeing the two destined but it didn't matter to him, this time he wasn't going to challenge them, he came in peace after all.

Odaiba Hospital: Twelfth Floor

Although the waiting hall was vast the group of worried teenagers made it seem relatively small, all of them discussed the events from the previous night, Gennai had

been informed of their defeat and he showed anger instead of worry, he went ahead to report to the sovereigns who in return had stayed silent leaving the chosen to

fend for themselves.

The elevator was in the middle of the hall making it impossible for anyone to exit without being seen; the doors slid open to reveal a young man with the features of

an angel and the movements of a noble. Davis exited the elevator and narrowed his eyes at the large group of teens who were flabbergasted to see him standing in

front of them, Koji and Matt were the ones to rage on like always and tried to stop the chosen of darkness who turned to them menacingly.

"I'm not here to fight, I just want to see Ken and Kari" he said truthfully

"WHY YOU LITTLE!" said Matt as he went for Davis who dodged his punch

"I suggest you lower your voice since there are sick people that need the silence, now let me thru please" he said in a calmed tone

"Like hell we will" answered J.P. as he stood blocking Davis's path

The other chosen did the same and soon the whole hall was blocked by a big amount of teenagers who refused to let the chosen of darkness pass, Davis was losing

his patience but didn't want to cause a scene in such a public place, he was losing his calmness because even after all this time the chosen still hadn't learned their

lesson; never piss off the dark king.

"I will give you five seconds to move out of my way, if you don't then heavens help me I will kill each one of you" he said in a venomous whisper

"Five" The chosen looked in horror but stayed firm

"Four" They started to tremble

"Three" The chosen looked at each other with fear

"Two" Davis lifted his hand and pointed at the chosen

"One" He began to walk towards them and not surprisingly they stepped aside

"Thank you, you are too kind" he said as he stepped forward making his way to the room

The king of darkness slowly opened the door to reveal a tired looking Ken who was currently eating a pile of blob that looked vile, he closed the door behind him and

before Ken could say anything he pulled up a chair and sat close to the edge of the bed.

"I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you, I know that it doesn't justify what I've done but I still consider you my friend and I hope that you can someday forgive me for

all the things I've made you go through"

Ken looked at Davis with a loss for words, he looked so honest, so human, that it was impossible to not try and feel bad for him, his actions made him seem like a

monster but deep down they were taking a toll on his humanity that refused to be put down.

"After all of this is done I will leave this city and none of you will ever have to see me again, I give you my word that I will never bother any of you again after my

task is completed" he said solemnly

Ken took a deep breath before finding the right words to say to such a sincere apology "Davis, you have done horrible things that cannot be corrected, you have killed

human beings with no remorse and yet I still find myself believing every word you have said" he paused as he looked into his friend's eyes "You forgave me after all

the horrible things I did against innocents, although you have killed I have never seen you harm an innocent, you protected Jeri and Alice and even prevented Ai and

Mako from seeing the gruesome scenes at Fuji building, this tells me that although you are darkness you are still human and the part of the Davis I knew is still

there, and as long as that part of you exists I will always forgive you my friend.

Davis stood up from his seat and looked at Ken while giving him a sincere smile that made the chosen of kindness reminisce about the times he had seen it before,

he hugged Ken careful not to hurt him and after a couple of minutes he separated himself and said.

"Thank you Ken for everything, for staying with me thru all the hardships, for defending me when I needed it, for not betraying me, thank you Ken you are a true

friend"

"I have one thing to ask you Davis" said Ken before his friend could leave

"Yes?"

"Stop attacking them, they are judgmental and afraid of the darkness but in the years you were absent they were consumed by guilt, I heard from Yolei that Kari

cried herself to sleep for almost six months after you disappeared and Tai lost his will to play soccer, you may not notice it but all of them felt the weight of their

betrayal" responded Ken while Davis stared at him blankly

"I give you my word, I shall harm them no more, goodbye Ken" said Davis shortly and exited the room

Davis re-entered the hall and was met with the chosen's death glares, he shrugged them off and continued his way onto Kari's room, the chosen flinched as he

opened the door for they did not expect him to see her, he simply nodded at them in a way that said he wouldn't harm her, he stepped into the room and was a bit

relieved to find Kari sleeping peacefully, searching his pocket he found the thing he was looking for.

"She looks so peaceful, who would have thought that we would turn out like this" he thought as he took out a piece of paper and started to write a phrase for her

"You know, when I was young I used to think that I would somehow win you over, that it was going to be like in the movies, that you would be my savior and would

take me away from this hell, how silly of me" he whispered in a hoarse voice "I know you hate me with all your might and I honestly can't blame you, my only

consolation is this"

After saying the latter he bent down and gave her a peck on the lips, the girl smiled in her sleep, turned around and slowly started to open her eyes, Davis saw this

and quickly put the gift and the note on the side table. Kari was opening her eyes and registered that another person was in the room with her but before she could

see his face he turned to the door and all she could hear were sad words that threatened to consume her.

"Get well Kari, I'm sorry, we weren't meant to be"

Aww poor Davis, I'm sorry if I made Davis look like wimp but come on give the guy a break he's had his heart broken more times than he can count,

also I should warn fujoshis that this is NOT SLASH; JUST BECAUSE KEN AND DAVIS HAD A MOMENT DOESN'T MEAN THEIR TOGETHER! *calms down*

Thank you, now with that being said;

Will Davis ever get his revenge? How will his promise to Ken affect the future events? What gift did he give to Kari? What did the note say? How will

the music festival turn out?

The song is called Not meant to be and is performed by Theory of a Deadman
