It had been five weeks since Mako's injury. Most of his bruises had faded. Only the worst ones remained as a yellow tinge on his pale skin. The laceration on his face was a thin scar barely even noticeable, except on close examination, thanks to Korra's skillful waterbending-healing. The avatar had also confirmed that his internal injuries were well healed. The last week she had given the OK to resume full sexual activity and low impact exercise. Yet, at his current examination she was reluctant to allow a return to full activity.

"Korra, I have been out of the office for five weeks, I really should be returning." said Mako.

"I've already talked to the president" she said, crossing her arms "He said to take as long as you need for a full recovery. Besides, I have been bringing your paperwork home and you have been finishing it at record speed. I don't see what the rush is."

"I'm going stir crazy. You just said it yourself that I am healing nicely, but you won't even let me go for a walk unless you are with me. I feel like I'm suffocating." Replied Mako

"Oh, so because I am concerned for your health I am suffocating you? Asami and I caring for you is too much? We aren't giving you room to breath? It doesn't seem to be an issue in the bedroom."

Mako ran his hand down his face in exasperation.

"Korra, hun" said Asami "I don't think Mako Meant it like that."

"Thank you Asami" offered Mako, "I didn't. Korra I am not trying to fight with you. I just don't understand why you are being so difficult about letting me go back to work and back to my place. In fact all need to get back to our lives, which you two have had to adjust so much because of me."

Korra's lip trembled as she looked from Mako to Asami. She turned her back to them as tears threatened to spill out. She may be the avatar and the most powerful person alive, but her emotions ran as high as her strength. No matter how hard she tried she had a difficult time controlling her emotions.

"Fine you two just go ahead and pair up against me. It doesn't matter that Mako nearly died a month ago, and that I just want to make sure he is at full functioning capacity before we all get back to our lives. Lets just ship him back home so that we can get some space from each other. I wouldn't want him to overstay his welcome."

Asami and Mako looked at each other, wordlessly, trying to see if the other knew the reason for Korra's sudden temperament. When it was apparent neither one had any idea Asami went over to Korra and placed her hand on the avatar's shoulder.

"Hun, what's really going on? What has you so upset?" Asked Asami, her hand rubbing circles over Korra's back.

"What's going on," Korra sniffed with her back still facing them, "is that I don't Mako to go home, and I don't want you or him to want him to go back home either." Korra turned around and Asami tried to take her in her arms, but Korra brushed her off.

Looking at Mako she continued "How can you say we need to get back to our lives? I thought being in this relationship meant we had but one shared life, not two or three separate lives. Seeing you almost die made me realize that I can't live without you anymore than I can Asami. But, staying with us has made you feel suffocated?" She turned her attention on Asami, "And you think it would be best for Mako to go home too? I thought our relationship was ready to move to the next level but now I wonder if I am the only one that thinks that."

Asami forced Korra into an embrace. The avatar stood rigid, while Asami smoothed out her hair in a comforting gesture. Mako on the other hand stayed seated where he was. He didn't want to be the first to speak as it wasn't that long ago that he and Asami weren't on the best of terms. He didn't feel he had equal right to weigh in on the idea of him moving in, or their relationship moving to the next level, whatever that entailed. Thankfully only a moment of silence lapsed before Asami spoke.

"Our trifecta type relationship hasn't even passed the six month mark. It's not that I don't want Mako moving in, or moving to the next level, but I have to wonder if we decide to do this if we aren't moving too fast?"

"You and I moved in together only a few weeks after confessing our feelings for each other." retorted Korra defiantly, neither pushing Asami away, nor returning her lingering embrace.

Asami sighed "We also didn't fight so much, nor did our relationship have so many obstacles to face until we added a third member."

"What are you implying?" asked Korra, looking at Mako over Asami's shoulder. His expression told her he wondered the same thing: was this relationship doomed to failure because of him?

"I am not implying anything." responded Asami calmly trying to ease Korra's agitation. "I am just referring back to what Mako said about a three way relationship being more complicated. I don't even know if we are all one the same page, nor do we know what Mako thinks about any of this."

Asami let go of Korra and the two women looked at Mako. He looked from Asami and Korra, taken slightly off guard.

"I uh," Mako cleared his throat "I have been very happy over the last few weeks, and feel very fortunate to have two of the most amazing women helping with the majority of my rehabilitation. That said, I also know what a burden I have been and how much I have disrupted your normal routines. I don't want to leave so much to get back to my life, but as to let you two get back to yours. I want us to live together when the two of you are both ready, and not because I have forced my way in." Mako could feel how red his cheeks were as his blood rushed in embarrassment. It was always hard for him to talk about his emotions.

"All of us know I want you to move in." Korra turned to Asami "So...are you against it?" Korra asked nervously.

Asami looked at Korra. Her eyebrows were tilted upward in apprehension, and her blue eyes sparkled with a polarbear-puppy look. Asami couldn't say no to her adorable little pout.

"I have my reservations, but...I think I am ready to give them a try. What's the worse that could happen?" said Asami as Korra gave her a bone crushing hug.

The avatar then ran over to Mako and he stood to receive her hug, only she surprised him when she jumped up and wrapped her legs around his waist, and gave him a full kiss on the mouth.

"I am so excited." Korra said, hopping down from Mako.

"Hold on," said Mako his face quite serious "If we are really going to do this, I have one stipulation."
