...Huh. I'm...mildly surprised at how short this chapter was...I thought I made it longer. Anyway, enjoy!
We walked for what seemed like hours.
I made sure to keep Lima close to me as our teams stayed fairly close to each other. I kept an eye on Sword, making sure he didn't do anything rash. However, what tore me apart even more was the fact that Lima's ears were flattened out more than usual from the distance between her and Wind, who was situated more at the back of the group.
Suddenly, Lima stopped, her ears perking up. I stopped with her as she moved them from place to place, almost as if she were trying to find something. Everyone else stopped as she looked around, almost as if she were trying to locate something. My sword handles clicked in place as she finally looked towards the rear.
Straight at Sword.
Sword almost offended, reached for his sword as I asked, "So it's behind us?"
Lima nodded, reaching for her axe.
Dagger stepped in front of Sword as Wind turned around himself.
Suddenly, a Beowolf exploded from the underbrush, catching Wind off guard as he waved his hands, manipulating wind to send the Beowolf to his left as he pulled out his sickles, throwing them at several more that jumped out from the underbrush.
I then looked out in front of me, suddenly seeing a Beowolf's jaws right in my face.
My world seemingly moved in slow motion as I saw my life flash before my eyes, suddenly finding myself on the ground, as well as Sierra mauling it with her fists, finally pulling out a knife and slitting its throat rather violently.
Scrambling to my feet, I drew my swords, ducking as Hotel's spear came slashing over me, slashing another Beowolf apart as I stood back up, slashing another in half, then jumped as he swung under my feet, cutting the feet off of another as I came down with a downward slash on it, cutting it in half as he stabbed forward over me, catching the next in the throat. I followed up with a horizontal slash, cutting it clean in half as Hotel swung it around, flinging it at the Grimm that Rusty was engaged with, nailing one that he wasn't engaged with as he turned around, cutting its head off, then swung his claymore back around, cutting another in half.
I then took my attention to Lima, who was still using her axe in rifle mode to pick off any stragglers. However, a Beowolf had shockingly got around her, causing her to turn around as she was right about to get sandwiched. I threw my swords at one of them, waving my left hand leftwards, slashing my right hand downward, one of my swords flying right down on it, then waved my left arm right, cutting its head clean off.
"Nice one Delta," Sierra said, patting my shoulder. I turned around to thank her, only to see a trio of Beowolves jumping at us. I was about to bring my sword back, only for her to sigh and snap her fingers, a wall of knives appearing behind us, flying at the Beowolves. I looked away as the sound of the three Grimm croaked, their blood soaking into the ground behind us.
As quickly as it began, it ended.
I whistled, materializing my swords back into my hands, slashing them clean of the blood on them. Sheathing my swords, I walked up to Lima, who was staring blankly at the space in front of her as I patted her shoulder and said, "Good job."
Lima turned to face me, nodding as she put her axe away. Suddenly, her ears perked upwards as she suddenly went for a beeline right at Sword. I reached out to her, trying to stop her, barely missing her as he turned around and jumped in place at the sight of her running head long for him. He raised his sword, ready to slash her down, only for her to run past him as a Beowolf appeared, raising its claw at them. I watched in horror as Lima braced herself for impact.
"LIMA!"
Blood filled the air as Lima went flying to the side.
Sword turned around, swinging his sword at the Grimm, only for his blade to get caught in its hand.
Suddenly, Sierra appeared on its back, violently cutting its throat, then grabbed at its head, violently ripping it off.
I ran over to my partner, who was bleeding from her forehead. Three diagonal cuts from her let shoulder down to her waist soaked her shirt as she continued bleeding out, her blood covering the ground before me as I picked her up. Her breaths came in short burst and gasps as I said, "Lima, stay with me! Lima, don't you dare die, stay with me!"
Lima's irises trembled as Wind ran over, holding her cheeks as he said, "Lima, don't you dare leave me! Don't you dare leave me like this!"
I could faintly hear Sierra screaming in her communicator as my partner's eyes half-lidded, the light in her eyes fading fast. I could feel my eyes grow watery, tears streaking down my cheek as I pressed my cheek against hers. I began mumbling gibberish as the sounds of a chopper quickly filled the air, her breathing slowing down some.
"Don't die…," Wind mumbled, "Please…don't die…!"
Please don't…please don't leave like this…!
"I love you…," Wind continued, "I love you…and I need you…please don't leave me…!"
Suddenly, we were pulled off of her as men began putting her on a stretcher, putting an oxygen mask on her face. I instinctively struggled against the grasp on me as Hotel said, "Calm down, Delta…! She'll…she'll be fine…!"
I knew he was holding back his own tears. I finally went limp as Wind continued struggling against his holders, screaming gibberish as Lima was lifted into the chopper and taken to Vale. I closed my eyes, the tears streaming out even more as Wind's screams of agony filled the air.
LIMA! NOOOOOOOOO!
Anyway, hope y'all continue to hang with me!
