The mainframe of the central quadrant was a complicated and protected one, Izzi was trying his hardest to speed up the process to no avail, the battle was currently
at a stalemate with no side emerging victorious, Davis was holding off the attacks with his hazard barrier, while the angels who had managed to get on their knees
were doing the same as the king of darkness. The chosen had all gathered around Izzi while their digimon stood protectively surrounding them, the sovereigns still
remained oblivious to the fact that they were being hacked, but that wouldn't last much longer, they were merely distracted but in the end they would realize the
truth and then things would get ugly.
"V-LASER!" yelled Davis as he sent an attack towards the right side of the army he was currently facing
The attack hit the target intended and injured all of those that were in its way, the digimon dispersed once again and those able to fly took off into the sky, Davis
looked over to his angels and realized that they too weren't doing well against their opponents, he attacked once again with all the power he could gather.
"MAGNA BLAST!" the attack was dodged by the digimon who it had been directed at, Davis was beyond surprised at how easily they had avoided his attack, this
meant that his speed and power were diminishing, he looked over to the destined and hoped that whatever they were doing was done fast, if not then many would
die.
Wisemon was receiving full force attacks and had managed to evade them for quite a long amount of time, he had battled formidably and had managed to kill dozens
of opponents, but just like those he protected, his energy too was wearing down, his evasion tactics were beginning to fail, his attacks were becoming weaker, he
knew he needed to rescue the king of darkness but inside of his mind he was aware that if he didn't save Lily first, then Davis would never forgive him, as if he had
been reading his mind, Davis yelled to him from the spot he was currently holding attacks off.
"GET THE CHILD" he yelled in desperation
"BUT MY KING, WHAT SHALL HAPPEN TO YOU!" he yelled back as he plunged his sword into the stomach of a Bluemeramon
"I SAD GET LILY! FORGET ABOUT ME! SAVE HER!" Wisemon hesitated at first but then flew off into the sky with his enemies trailing behind him, while on the air he
battled them in an attempt to get rid of them and rescue the child of purity, Lily watched from afar the carnage that was taking place, she held Tokomon X close to
her chest and sobbed quietly while the servants of the sovereigns held her captive.
"Oni-chan, please win, you promised" she whispered to herself while tears slowly slid down her doll-like face
It was almost ready, the hacking process was beginning to charge and now it was only a matter of time, the destined could see Lily in the horizon crying silently and
holding her partner close, they were surprised when they had first noticed her and could not believe that she was involved with Davis, but no matter how evil and
cruel Davis had been to them, they wouldn't let a child get hurt.
"It's almost done you guys, it should take a couple of more minutes at the most" said Izzi while the others crossed their fingers hoping for the process to speed up
The sovereigns were atop the plateau watching the battle with interest, they had not expected the chosen children and their former subordinate to present
themselves at their home, but it didn't matter, the king would not leave the quadrant alive, the angels and Wisemon were of not threat to them without Davis to
command them, as for the child of purity, well they hadn't decided on what to do with her yet, maybe they would keep her as a pet or as a souvenir. They watched as
Alexia and Victoria were on their knees trying to continue using the hazard barrier for protection, the sovereigns laughed at how weak the group seemed while smiling
at each other for their impending victory, everything was going well for them, that is until Baihumon looked over to the spot where the chosen were huddled
together.
"Azulongmon, what is that?" he asked with curiosity
"What is what, Baihumon, can't you see that I'm trying to watch something here!" he replied with annoyance
"But look, the destined, they seem to be doing something with that computer" he replied with a hint of worry as he got the attention of the rest of his comrades
"WHAT!" said the rest of the sovereigns as they looked around trying to understand what Baihumon had just said
The chosen had stuck together using the armor digimon as both protection and as a distraction, the sovereigns finally took notice of this and understood what the
chosen were trying to do, they were hacking into their mainframe.
"CHOSEN! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!" yelled Azulongmon, but before any of the chosen could answer, Izzi had already finished the process
"I got it!" exclaimed Izzi with excitement in his voice
"Well then, what are we waiting for, let's get them!" said Tai with decision
The sovereigns were beyond angry to say the least, they had underestimated the loyalty and humanity of the chosen, they didn't know what they had done to the
quadrant program but they feared for the worst, Fanglongmon being the leader, asked them in a calm voice that in reality was hiding a raging anger.
"Chosen, we have noticed something in our mainframe, are you responsible for this?" he asked trying to hide a menacing tone
The chosen had been so distracted by the battle and the success of hacking the central quadrant that they hadn't realized the sovereigns had discovered their plans,
they fearfully looked up to the top of the plateau were they could see the rage-filled faces of the sovereigns who were looking at them with menace in their eyes,
another battle was on its way to begin.
Davis had resorted to laying on one knee in order for him to apply more pressure to the hazard barrier that was currently protecting him, he had for openings in the
digimon's rows and when that happened he had attacked them without them noticing, he had managed to cause quite a considerable amount of damage to his
opponents, the reality however, was another one. For each enemy he killed, many more came up, he had lost count of how many blood had been shed, but it didn't
matter to him anymore, he had wanted to spare these puppets at first but that had all changed when they had taken Lily captive, he would rip out the hearts of a
thousand beings if it meant seeing the small child free and happy. He had taken notice of the chosen and their plans for some time now, he didn't comprehend their
plan to a totality, but he deduced that it had something to do with the functions of the central quadrant since he had seen Izzi handling his computer and rapidly
typing in what seemed to be codes and numbers. At first he had been thinking that the chosen had decided to aid the sovereigns in his demise, but now he was not
so sure, the sovereigns could be seen on top of the plateau and they didn't seem very happy with the chosen, he didn't know what they had done to anger them but
he hoped that they could defend themselves in needed.
"CHOSEN! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! Yelled Fanglongmon at the chosen who looked back at him with an expression of guilt and decision
"Were sorry, but we can't let you hurt him anymore" said Ken
"You've made it clear that you will kill him and the ones that are on his side, we can't let you do that, it's not fair to him or to us, we have seen the best and worst of
him, and although we hate what he has become, we can't see him die" answered Kari with a decisive tone that marked a silence that continued
The sovereigns looked at each other in surprise and tried to formulate a response, if the chosen were to turn on them then they would have to destroy all of them, it
was a measure of stakes, what did they want more, to defeat the king of darkness or to continue having their allies on their side.
"Then we are very sorry, but we cannot allow that" said Baihumon
"The darkness will be eradicated for good" said Ebounwomon
"Nothing shall stop us from ridding the world of that piece of filth that you see on its knees" said Fanglongmon
"I am sorry children, but if you are not with us, then you are against us, which unfortunately means that" said Azulongmon as he made a pause and Zquiaomon took
over
"YOU WILL DIE JUST LIKE HIM! TROOPS! REGROUP AND ATTACK THE CHOSEN!" yelled Zquiamon
Izzi looked over to the thousands of new enemies that had appeared as reinforcements and knew that it was time to test if the hacking process had taken effect.
"Guys, it's now or never, LETS DIGIVOLVE NOW!"

Jeri, Alice, Ai and Mako, were the only ones that could not biomerge, this was the result of either their digimon being too weak to get to that level of digivolution or in
the case of Ai and Mako, both of them being too young to perform such a risky evolution. They had instead decided for Impmon to digivolve into his mega form and
the other two into their champion forms for protection, they would not take part in the battle but would defend themselves if necessary.

The chosen of the dark hazard observed with surprise the actions that were currently taking place on the battlefield, everyone had heard the command of the
sovereigns and now they had thousands of new enemies to worry about, he didn't know whether he should be thankful for the chosen's interference, not only were
there more enemies in sight but also the four tamers had to be protected because with the sovereigns as commanders, he wouldn't have been surprised if they did
the same thing they did with Lily and use them as bait or for blackmail.
"Angels, it appears that the sides have changed, let's use this new alliance in our favor" said Davis telepathically to his two partners
"My lord, we are doing everything we can, but our powers are diminishing, we may be strong but we are outnumbered, four to thousands"
"Master, we are sorry, we will try but we can't guarantee that we will succeed, our power levels are too low"
"I understand, you have fought valiantly and I could never ask more of you, I however have one last request, please rescue Lily, I don't care about my fate, do not
worry about me, as soon as you have Lily, all of you including Wisemon, exit this quadrant, leave and don't turn back"
But master"
"My lord, why?"
"This is my battle now, promise me you will do that as soon as you rescue her" he said as a pause in his telepathy happened while seconds passed slowly
"We're sorry"
"But we don't know if we can keep that promise" finished the angels as they cut off the mind communication and resumed their battle while Davis looked back at
them with sympathy and regret
The chosen had engaged in battle and had noticed that these enemies were far stronger than they had expected, they were managing to stand their ground and had
begun to destroy and break some of the enemy lines, but they knew that in order to help Davis they would need much more power than what they currently had.
Lily watched from far away as new digimon began to fight against the enemies that were hurting Davis, she felt so powerless and sad, she couldn't do anything to
help him, she was still very young but she understood how much this meant for Davis, she would always stick by him until her last day. She was currently being held
with brute force by three mega level digimon that had been identified by Tokomon X as Darkdramon; a cyborg digimon, Ignitemon; another cyborg and finally
Whitekingchessmon; a puppet digimon. The three had stayed quiet for the battle and had only growled and cursed at Lily when she was abducted once again after
she had tried to escape, her body was now pink and purple from the bruises and attacks that she had received but she still believed in Davis, he would win and they
would get out of that horrible place.
"ONI-CHAN! YOU CAN DO IT! YOU'RE STRONG, SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF!" she yelled before she was silenced again by a hit on her ribs courtesy of
Darkdramon
Davis watched as the little girl shouted encouraging words at him and felt his power begin to replenish, it was a figure of his imagination of course, his power level
was really low in reality but he couldn't let her down, he couldn't let her get hurt more than she had already been, he gave a long deep breath that came out hollow
and distorted, it was now or never, fuck everything, his views, his thoughts, his body, his soul, his life, fuck it all, it didn't matter anymore.
"AHHHHHHH! POSITRON LASER!"
The gigantic canon appeared and blasted all nearby opponents into oblivion, it destroyed the lines that the digimon had and even the chosen had to evade such an
attack because it was close to hitting them, this outburst caused everyone to look back at Davis who was now radiating pure dark power, light digimon stepped away
as he launched himself towards Lily's direction not caring about the amount of opponents that were in front of him.
"DEMONIC BLADE!" he yelled as Victoria's blade appeared on his left hand
His right arm had been heavily damaged and could not hold the weight of another blade, so instead he called upon his most trusted weapon.
"HAZARD PISTOL!"
The chosen had managed to dodge the positron laser and were now looking at Davis who was massacring opponents left to right, his blade and body were covered in
blood and data flowed to the sky with each kill that he made, they continued to fight and eventually began to get closer to him.
"DAVIS!" yelled Ken "Get your friends, we can't take care of them"
Davis decapitated one of his opponents and then turned around to the spot where all of the chosen were battling out; he nodded at them in a sign of resignation and
continued his advance onto enemy lines. The angels had seen Davis's determination and they too were beginning to rise from the floor and fight back, they invoked
their respective blades and began slashing their way onto Lily who had her eyes closed and was sitting with her knees up to her face. Wisemon was currently looking
for an opening to rescue the child of purity but it was proven to be more than difficult, he was in the process of evading hundreds of opponents that attacked him not
only in the sky but also from the ground.
The sovereigns were oozing anger and their hateful gazes followed the battle that was taking place below the plateau, if they conspired against them then they would
pay a big price for what they had done, that brat that called himself king, they would enjoy watching him die a slow and painful death, but in the meantime, maybe
they should remind him who they truly were.
"This brat thinks that he can do whatever he wants, I think I'm going to have a little fun with him" said Zquiaomon sinisterly as the other four sovereigns looked at
him confusedly
Davis was running full speed towards Lily who looked at him from afar with an expression of happiness and contempt, the digimon still tried to attack and stop him
but they found themselves facing off against the angels, Wisemon and the chosen, this put a dent in their plans, giving the chosen of darkness enough time and
space to get close to Lily and rescue her. The three megas that were guarding her stood their guard as they saw the king of darkness approach them, as soon as he
was in close range they began to attack him with all of their power, he dodged many of the attacks and waited for them to come closer so that he could kill them off
without hurting Lily.
The three megas continued their assault on Davis leaving the young child completely unattended, she grabbed Tokomon X and made eye contact with Davis for a
brief period of time as if waiting for an indication, Davis picked this up fairly quick and nodded at her to stay in the place she was at, he grabbed one of Darkdramon's
wings and ripped it up, he then proceeded to grab his arm lance and pierce the body of Ignitemon with it, deleting him at the moment, one down and two to go, he
used Darkdramon's mangled body as a shield for Whitekingchessmon's attacks, as the other cyborg was deleted, he approached the chess king and with a rapid
move, shot him in the mouth making his head explode into bits of blood and data.
"Lily!" he said with desperation looking for the child
"Oni-chan" she answered as Davis found her sitting on the floor covering her eyes while Tokomon X stood protectively in front of her
"It's over sweetie, come here" he said as he hugged her while she cried into his arms "It's okay, I'm here, everything will be ok, they won't hurt you anymore"
Davis had to resort to using a lot of strength to simply carry Lily away from the battle, he began running towards the spot where he knew was the entrance to the
quadrant in an attempt to put Lily to safety, the sovereigns watched from the plateau and ordered all of their subordinates to retreat and forget about the chosen and
everyone else, they had two new targets.
"DESTROY THEM!" roared all of them simultaneously
The army obeyed the command and attacks began to be thrown at Davis who was running as fast as he could while carrying Lily and Tokomon X, his evasion tactics
would not be of any use in that situation, he was too weak and was carrying a fragile child, he was trapped. The chosen, the angels and Wisemon had followed the
army of digimon and they began to attack them from all angles in hopes of distracting them and preventing them for carrying out their orders.
"Lily don't worry, we'll get you out of here ok" he said almost breathlessly
"ONI-CHAN WATCH OUT!" she yelled
An attack from the sky hit Davis on his right leg cutting him deeply and making him lose balance, this caused him, Lily and her partner to fall to the ground, Lily
managed to fall on her behind while Davis unfortunately fell face first onto the ground, he tried picking himself up but was unable to due to the injuries he had
sustained during the battle. He was on his knees as he saw Lily run towards him, why was she running, she seemed to be crying but why? He began hearing voices,
but what did they say, why did Lily look at him like that, he paused for milliseconds and then it hit him.
"PURGATORY CLAW!"
"MASTER, NO!"
"KING!"
"DAVIS WATCH OUT!"
It was Zquiaomon's attack that had been fired from the top of the plateau, it was heading right towards him, he couldn't dodge it and the hazard barrier was unable
to stand such an attack since he was already too weak, it was over, there was nothing he could do, he had lost. He closed his eyes, gripped his hand and then
touched her mother's locket.
"Mother, Father, Veemon, Lily, Alexia, Victoria, everyone, I am sorry, I am truly sorry that I couldn't protect you" he whispered while he waited for the attack to hit
him and terminate his life
But the pain, the burning sensation of the end, the light and dark right before death, those never came, instead he felt a push and his body reacting to it by moving
out of the way of the attack. It took his mind time to absorb what had just happened, he looked around to the spot where he had been kneeling and he saw her, that
small child had protected him with her own life, she was laying on the floor covered in her own blood while Tokomon X dispersed into the sky.
The battle stopped and everyone froze, nobody made a move, the army ceased its attack and the chosen stopped dead in their tracks, nobody was crying yet, they
were all in a state of shock and couldn't comprehend what had just happened
But it couldn't be, why her, why her, no it was a lie, it was all a lie, he was dreaming, yes, it was all a nightmare and he would soon wake up and she would smile at
him and tell him about all of the things she learned in school. But that moment never came, she laid agonizing on the ground while Davis crawled over to her and
cradled her with love and desperation.
"Li-Li-Lily" he whispered "P-Please, d-do-n't"
"O-Oni-Ch-han" she answered in a barely audible voice "Pl-Play a-a s-song" she said as she extended her bloody hand and gave Davis an ocarina bathed in blood
Davis's eyes were full of tears as he grabbed the instrument and began playing the child's song, her gaze was becoming lost and her breathing more hollow and slow,
the melody was full of pain and sorrow, everyone refused to move or even attack as they watched the touching moment. The song ended and the ocarina fell to the
ground where it mixed with dirt and blood, Lily lifted one of her hands and caressed Davis's cheek, she smiled weakly at him and said.
"Re-Remember t-th-the b—butterflies" she said as her gaze become lost again "I s-see them, t-th-ey ar-are calling me, I-I-I see, m-mo-mmy and da-daddy, t-they
are wai-waiting f-for me"
"Lily, please don't say that, you can't die, you can't leave, I promise you, I'll take you anywhere you want, we promised that we would see the butterflies again,
remember?" he pleaded while the child gave a loud sigh and with all her strength pulled herself up and gave him a peck on the cheek
"Go-od-Goodbye O-O-ni-chan, I love you" and with those final words the chosen of purity gave one last smile at the king of darkness while she closed her eyes and
succumbed to the eternal slumber
Davis shook the child's body waiting for a response but it was too late, she was gone forever, he would never see her again, he would never watch her play again, he
would never hear her voice laced with innocence and curiosity, he would never hold and protect her, he would never watch her grow, he had lost her, he had lost his
purity, he had lost himself. He invoked his pistol and looked up at the sky, not paying attention to the angels that had somehow managed to get closer to him without
anyone noticing.
"Oh dear lord, what have I done!" he said in desperation as he grabbed the pistol and pointed it at his head while he wept, deciding to end his life of suffering once
and for all
"MASTER NO!" yelled Alexia as she held Davis from one side
"DON'T DO IT MY LORD, IT WONT SOLVE ANYTHING!" yelled Victoria as she restrained Davis from his other side
That's when everything inside the king of darkness became hollow, he couldn't hear anyone anymore, everything was becoming red, his chest began to burn as if
someone was setting him on fire, he lifted his body from the floor and threw the angels away as if they were nothing.
"ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" he yelled as he gripped his head and chest
The whole dimension began to shake, it was as if a gigantic earthquake had begun, Davis's crest began glowing with tremendous force and it continued to burn with
so much intensity that it began to leave a mark on his body, Davis gripped the crest and then something happened, something that no one expected to happen, the
seal of the crest had broken.
"OH NO!" said Wisemon in fear
The chosen looked over to the digimon who was trembling and asked with fear
"What happened, why are you trembling"
"It's been broken" he said as he looked over to Lily's dead body "Grab the body, and run, run before its too late"
"Too late for what?" asked Ken
"The seal has been broken, and its power will kill us all"
So after a long hiatus, I am back online, this chapter was difficult to write but it is personally my favorite, everything has been building up this moment. Now that Lily has passed away, the seal has been broke, what will happen to Davis? Why is Wisemon so afraid of? Who will win the war?
I apologize for killing Lily off, but in this case it was necessary, I really hope this doesnt bother readers a lot because it was something that I had planned since the introduction of her character.
