Sovereign Plateau

Davis held Lily's body and stared off into infinity, his pain was so much that it could simply not be expressed by any type of expression, he wanted to cry, to

scream, to die, truth be told that he would give up his very soul to bring back those that were gone because of him. The chosen one by one had managed to

get back on their feet and were now unsure of what to do next, the carnage that they had been witness off could not be put off but even so, they still felt like

the battle was over, not because they had won, but because no one there had really won anything.

The angels had made their respective weapons disappear into the air and were now walking towards their master who seemed to not be present at all; he

looked so hollow, so dead and empty that it froze the eyes of those that saw him. Walking passed the chosen and their digimon they nodded as a sign of

peace and before they could interrogate them on what was happening; they lifted their hands as if brushing off some wind and continued walking to the spot

where Davis was.

"Master?" said Alexia in a questioning tone

Davis couldn't bear to face all of the people behind him, not just the angels but everyone there, all the things he had put them through, especially the young

ones, how innocent and peaceful they were and yet they had received the worst experiences of them all, he had scarred them for life, they would never be

able to grow up healthy after seeing such hate.

"I-I'm so weak, so so weak" he said in a low voice as he grabbed Lily's body and rose up from the ground

"It's not your fault, master, war only brings destruction and pain but it is in times like these when we must stay strong, we are here for you, we know it will

be difficult but we will be there holding your hand every step of the way" said Alexia as she put her hand on Davis's right shoulder in a sign of understanding

and empathy

"She was a lovely girl and her memory will be cherished forever, we all loved her and that love is what will keep us from falling, you are not alone, my lord"

responded Victoria as she did the same thing as Alexia

Davis heard these words but he did not understand why he couldn't bring himself to believe it, even those angels that had seen and done it all, even they did

not know what he truly felt, they had never been in such situation, he felt like he was alone, and alone he was. His path of destruction had caused almost the

entire dimension to be obliterated, he was a menace to every living being, what could he do now, he could not go back to his life of money and power, all he

wanted was repair the damage that he had caused; but it was now too late.

"I'm sorry, Alexia, Victoria…..but I can't, I simply can't"

He said those words with a sea of emotions that could flood an entire planet, he then called upon his wings and without another word he flew away rapidly

with Lily still in his arms, he had flown away from the battlefield but in his heart all he wanted to do was fly away from his own self.

Ken saw Davis fly away and walked to the spot where the angels stood not knowing what to do, he knew that the chosen of the dark hazard was in

tremendous pain and that his regret would haunt him everyday, but he also knew that Davis was strong and he had faith that he would make it out of his

own self-inflicting torture.

"Let him go, he is in far too much pain to listen to reason, trust me, I know what it's like to feel that" said Ken to the angels who was now nursing a badly

injured right hand along with a few broken ribs

"Do you think he'll be ok?" asked Alexia

"I don't know, but I just don't want him to ever become that beast again" answered Victoria

"He won't" said Ken as both angels looked back at him with pleading eyes looking for assurance of his statement "I have known him for quite a while and I

never knew the full length of his problems or his fears, but if there is one thing that I am sure of is that he is not a coward, he will not let this tragedy be his

demise, no, he is far too strong and brave to be beaten"

"I hope you are right, I really do" said Victoria

Alexia looked back at the destined who had been tended to by Wisemon so that they could make the journey back to the spot where the portal to Highton

View Terrace was, the mentor digimon stood up and signaled the destined to start walking, silence reigned the whole time, far in the sky they could see a

pair of black wings that cruised through the air, mixed feelings were in the hearts of those that were present, they could not forgive the king for his actions,

but they could not hate him after they had seen his love and devotion for the child of purity.

After some time they managed to get to the exact location of the portal, there they saw Davis still with his wings unfolded and his back turned on them,

before anyone could approach him he simply whispered for the portal to open and without a word he signaled for the rest of the people to go in front of him,

they passed Davis with uncertainty and suspicion but nevertheless they continued onto the other world. After all of them including the angels had gone

through, Davis looked back to the quadrant's far horizon, empty and bare of anything alive, he had killed a whole world out of pure sorrow and anger, and

yet the lives of those that were there did not matter to him in the least, it was the face of the young child that he was holding in his arms that would cloud his

mind without it ever ceasing, he sighed with impotency in his body and mind and slowly began to drag his feet into the dimensional rift.

Highton View Terrace: Odaiba

"What if something happened to them? They have been gone for hours, it's almost dawn and they still haven't come back" said Ms. Takaishi

"What if he hurt them? That monster almost killed my daughter, you saw how he was, he's dangerous!" said Ms. Takenouchi

"I'm sure that they'll come back, I have faith in them, it's not the first time they have faced things like these and they've always managed to get through,

let's calm ourselves a little bit and try to not give up hope" said Ms. Ichijouji trying to ease the other parents' worries

A bright light began to appear in the spot where the portal was first opened by the chosen; signaling the opening of the dimensional rift, first came the

chosen who immediately went over to their respective parents, then came the Tamers and Warriors and finally the hazard group with the exception of Davis

who was still in the middle of crossing the rift, all of them were in horrible conditions, their bodies still showed damage despite Wisemon healing most of

them so that they could make the trip back home, their clothes were ripped and their faces were succumbing with fatigue and sadness, as if they had seen

the worst of the worst.

"What happened to you?!"

"Did he hurt you?!"

"My baby, you're bruised"

"Are you okay? We were so worried"

"I'm so happy that you are fine!"

Jun walked over to Ken who was currently in the arms of his mother, she knew from the look on the angels' faces that something had gone terribly wrong,

not only that but Davis had not appeared along with them.

"Ken, what happened? Is everything alright?" she asked

But before the chosen of kindness could answer the question; the portal signaled the entrance of another being into Highton View Terrace, everyone went

silent for they knew who was crossing the rift, the chosen shielded their parents instinctively while their digimon stood in front of them in case another battle

were to arise, the angels along with Wisemon stood to the side with looks of sadness. He walked through the rift with the young child still clutched in his

arms, the look of confidence and power was not there anymore, only the blank eyes of a man that was merely a shell, a walking corpse that could breath and

pump blood, the once ravishing clothing that he wore with such pride and elegance was no more; replaced by torn raggedy pants and a full exposed torso

that showed the scars of not only the last battle but his existence as a whole.

As the portal was closed and only the light of the nearby city illuminated the scene; those present realized the gravity of the situation, they did not know who

the child was or what the reason for her death was but nevertheless; innocent blood should never be spilled, Davis did not acknowledge their presence at all

and merely stood there gazing at the clouding sky that announced a future storm.

"Is that?" whispered Mrs. Ichijouji to his son and fellow chosen

"Yes, that's her, she's the little girl Davis was looking for" answered Kari

"But what happened?" asked Mrs. Takenouchi as she swallowed back the lump that was forming in her throat "She's practically a baby" she thought

Davis could overhear all the words and questions that were being thrown back and forth by the parents and chosen alike, his dry throat could barely produce

any sound at all but with all of the decision he could come up with he spoke.

"S-Sh-She s-saved me" he said loud enough for everyone to hear "I was supposed to die there and yet…." then he made a pause and swallowed back his

tears "Why do I still breathe while she sleeps eternally? Why?

There were gasps coming from all of those ignorant of what had gone down in the central quadrant, the sky thundered loudly as if it was screaming in pain,

Davis lifted his gaze to the sky once again, one drop of water fell onto his face and then another, pretty soon there was a powerful rain soaking everyone, but

instead of seeking refugee from the storm they stood there looking at the young king with disappointment and empathy.

"She loved the sky you know" he said as everyone paid attention to him "She said that when it rained it meant that the sky was sad" he paused "She was

right….. the sky is crying" he finished as he choked on his own words and tears fell from his eyes in uncontrollable agony

He didn't say anything, he did not look at anyone, standing at the edge of the building he flew away with no known direction leaving the parents in surprise

that he could become an angel, the angels tried to chase him in an effort to console him but were stopped by Wisemon who explained the need for Davis to

mourn the loss of his little flower, no one said anything else, there were still many things to be said and done, but the day when all of that was performed

would be another, without any further words each of them went their separate ways, the chosen to their respective homes to rest and the hazard group to

the luxury skyscraper in Tokyo metro.

Japanese Countryside: Mitsue, Nara Prefecture

Mitsue was a small village of no more than 3000 inhabitants, nothing extraordinary or out of the normal ever happened there, it was surrounded by a

beautiful forest and bursting countryside, an old abandoned church on the outskirts of the village paid tribute to the failed attempts of the western Europeans

to spread Christianity. Davis arrived in front of the ruined church and looked around for any outside interference, he found none since the rain was still very

heavy and without further or due he walked into the church, it was a simple temple with images of saints on the walls and the characteristic crucifixion at the

center of the church, the glass windows were shattered and the benches laid disorganized and in shabby conditions, the chosen of dark hazard walked with

Lily in his arms and laid here in front of the image of Jesus on the cross while he himself kneeled down as well.

Many things had occurred in the young man's life, he had endured what no other man had, he had survived events that not even the most powerful could, his

heart had been broken more times than he could count, his very soul had been tainted with the ink of sorrow since such a young age, and yet he had never

give up, he had always remained on top, on his feet like a god that could never be beaten, but that was all gone, that man had died at the moment Lily had,

he looked up at the cross and then took a deep breath; preparing for what he would say next, with all of his heart and emotions; the king finally let all of his

emotions run wild.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!" "WHAT?!" he roared "IF YOU TRULY ARE REAL, THEN WHY?! WHY THEM?! WHY HER AND NOT ME?! IF YOU WANTED TO

PROVE A POINT THEN YOU'VE MADE IT, IM WORTHLESS AND WEAK! I WAS READY TO DIE! THEY ARE ALL INNOCENT! KILL ME! KILL ME! WHY DID YOU NOT

KILL ME INSTEAD OF THEM?! WHY?!

His voice was full of remorse and resentment, he cried and screamed while the thunderstorm outside became more powerful, it seemed as if the sky itself

responded to his agony, after some time he finished his burst-out and was now sitting on the floor cradling Lily in his arms and sobbing quietly.

"P-P-Please, b-bring them back, please, I'll give anything" he mumbled as he shivered because of the cold rain

But no one answered, the sky continued to cry and the church shook with each bolt of lightning that passed, it is said that a true warrior is like a king,

powerful and courageous, it is also said that he will always remain on his feet no matter what he faces, but as the young man sobbed and hugged Lily's body

close to him it was clear; the king had fallen.

There it is; another chapter, THIS STORY IS STILL NOT DONE! I wanted to add more drama to the story by using the element of a higher

power and faith, I am not trying to offend anyone's beliefs or practices, if you feel that you are being targeted then I apologize for that was

not my intention at all.

There are still some loose ends that need to be tied, what will Davis do now that he has lost Lily? Will the chosen ever forgive him? Will Davis

go back to his angels? Will he ever find peace and redemption?
