Olympian Towers
Davis woke up feeling groggy and with a pounding headache that assaulted the sides of his head. he immediately remembered the reason he had been asleep and
the revelation that he had had, he had been given a second chance, or at least he had thought so. Looking around he realized that he was in the same damned place
that he had been since he had fallen asleep, the luxurious bedroom and silk sheets on the bed had not changed at all, that damned box that held the ashes of his
angel of purity was still there intact while her ocarina laid on the floor next to the bed.
"NO! NO! NO!" he screamed as he realized the truth
It had all been a dream. a cruel and heartless demonstration of the powers of guilt and despair, his mind had toyed with him, used him as if he were a mere puppet,
it had given him the hope of changing what was set in stone, it had lifted his soul right up to the stars and now it had made it crash into the ground.
Davis got up from the bed and threw the box with Lily's ashes onto the floor, thankfully it had remained sealed but the rest of the room was not safe, he grabbed the
nightstand and threw it over to the wall where it made a large hole, the TV was thrown onto the closet where it cracked the wall and made the clothing racks break
leaving clothes on the floor everywhere, he then proceeded to enter the bathroom. The young chosen continued his breakdown by using his strenght to rip the toilet
from its base and propelled it with such force that it made its way to the shower where it made contact with the glass door thus shattering it, the glass pieces made
contact with Davis's feet and arms and made some minor cuts that began to bleed onto the wet floor.
He was now in a fetal position and had begun to hyperventilate, he mumbled words that sounded like gibberish and cried helplessly as the final stage of his
breakdown began, he opened and closed his eyes wanting for the reality to be simply a lie, but as he opened his eyes for the dozenth time he saw something that at
that moment seemed like the answer to his whole existence, one of the hazard pistols was now at his side.
The trigger of the gun felt cold and heavy, Davis was still hyperventilating but had managed to sit against the wall of the bathroom, he opened his mouth and slowly
began to put the cannon of the pistol inside of it, memories of his life flashed on his mind, he saw his parents and how much they had loved him, he saw his former
team, the digidestined that had once fought alongside of him, Hikari; the only woman that had once taken his heart, his battles, his wins and losses, he saw death,
he saw life, he saw darkness and then he saw light. One pull was all it would take, one bang and then everything would be fine, no more sorrow, no more pain, no
more right or wrong, no more black and white, only an eternal slumber, that prize was so easy to reach and yet it seemed so difficult to attain, and finally as he was
about to pull the trigger he saw her, her big brown eyes looked at him with innocence and devotion, she smiled in that unique way that only she could pull off and
said to him.
"Oni-chan, I love you"
Davis opened his eyes rapdily and was scared of what he had had almost done, he flung the pistol until it hit the wall on top of his bed and fell behind it, tears fell
down his cheeks as he silently sat in the same spot for a couple of minutes until the shock from the actions that he had committed had faded. The whole room was
destroyed from the outburst, the fact that the angels or even Wisemon had not shown up to find out the cause of the problem made the chosen worry, stumbling
around he walked outside of his bedroom and into the kitchen in hopes of seeing them there, when he saw no one he checked the rest of the bedrooms and their
balconies.
Not wanting to waste anymore time he decided to quickly take a shower in Victoria's room so that he could wipe off the dried blood and accumulated sweat that he
had on his body and then proceed to look for his companions, the water fell against his back as he looked at himself in the glass door, his scarred body still showed
signs of needing further healing and the new wounds inflicted by the shattered glass still bled small lines of blood. He dried himself carefully so that he would not
stain the towel with blood, his wounds were bandaged with some gause that he found inside of the medicine cabinet, he went back into his room and after looking
around the disaster that was his closet he found a decent attire, he grabbed his D4A and car keys and exited the penthouse.
As the elevator made its way down to the main entrance Davis looked at the ceiling with a lost gaze, his mind was clear but not because it was calm and peaceful, it
was clear because everything was too much to process, each day of his life that passed only served to extend his agony further, he would be lying if he said that he
didn't think that death would be merciful.
"Do I deserve mercy?" he thought "Should I see to my own death? After all those that sacrificed their lives in order for me to live, would it be just for me expect
compassion?" "Of course not! If I were to die right now then all of their sacrifices would have been in vain" The young man leaned against the back of the elevator
and continued his thoughts but not before giving a long sigh "I want to die, I want to close my eyes and never open them again, I failed at everything I ever wanted
to achieve, I won I kill them and I lost everyone. BUT I WONT DIE I CANT DIE! I WILL KEEP BREATHING UNTIL MY BODY WEARS WITH TIME AND MY MOMENT
COMES! ALL I CAN DO IS HOPE THAT MY DEATH COMES SOON!
The elevator door opened and before the young chosen walked into the lobby area he whispered lowly to himself a couple of words that would mark the begining of
a whole new journey for the king of darkness.
"Se la luce me ha abbandonato, poi Io abbandoreno la luce" (If the light has forsaken me, then I shall forsake the light) he said in his Italian mothertounge and
stepped out into the lobby area
On the front desk of the sat Kiyoto the porter that was in charge of greeting and instructing the visitors and future residents on the locations of the specific spots that
they wished to check out, Davis made his way to the man and as he saw him he gave him a kind smile.
"Mr. Luvianne, is there anything that I can help you with sir?" asked the man
"Ah yes, have you seen Alexia and Victoria?" he asked
"Yes, they along with Mr. Rashid left about an hour ago"
"Did they leave some kind of message for me? Or did they tell you where they were going?"
"Not exactly, but they did mention that they were heading for Odaiba park, I don't know if you will find them there but if you plan to look for them then I would
suggest you start there, maybe they went for a picnic or a walk at the park" he suggested
"Fine, thank you for your help Kiyoto" said Davis
"No problem sir, by the way it's good to see you again after almost two weeks, at one point I thought you had moved without anyone noticing" said the man in a
joking manner
Davis heard those words and was immediately taken aback, he had just seen the man the day before when he had come back from Jade's burial.
"Almost two weeks? Kiyoto I just saw you yesterday don't you remember?"
The man smiled sadly at the young boy, he had known that the young man was going through tough times based on the way he carried himself but he never knew it
was so serious, he decided to let it rest and pray for Davis's recovery.
"Of course, how silly of me, I must have mistaken you for another resident, my apologies Mr. Luvianne"
Davis eyed the man looking for an answer and said "It's ok, I'll see you later Kiyoto"
"Take care sir"
Odaiba Park
The angels had called a meeting with the chosen children in order to explain what was happening to Davis, at first they had been hesitant to accept but after the
angels told them that they could help them get back to their respective dimensions they reluctantly accepted. They were now sitting down in a circle on the grass in
the far side of the park close to the parking lot, Joe was currently talking, since he had always been very knowleadgable about medicine.
"So, he hasn't woken up?" he asked for the fifth time
"We've told you he hasn't, we don't know what to do anymore, his vital signs seem to be in order but he just will not wake up" said Alexia
"Have you tried waking him up by force?" asked Joe
"Of course we have, me and Pride have hit him various times, we've thrown water at him, made a loud booming noise, we've shaken him and even gave him a small
electric shock, and nothing, nothing works!" answered Victoria exasperated
"But how can his health still be perfect? Rashid-" said Joe turning to Wisemon "You've checked on him since he fell asleep, has there been any change in his vital
signs, blood pressure elevation, dehydration, malnutrition, anything?"
Wisemon thought for a moment and answered "Not that it is noticeable, but the only thing that has me perplexed is the fact that he has not evacuated in all this
time. I am not very familiar with human biology but I can almost assure that after so much time he would have at least urinated or something of the like even in very
small quantities"
"But how is that possible? How can he be alive and not even perform the most basic human actions?" asked Izzi who was at Joe's side listening intently
"It's like he's frozen" said Ken as everyone turned to him "Frozen in time"
Rainbow Bridge: Tokyo-Odaiba
Davis had decided against calling the angels, he needed the fresh air and highway to clear his mind from what had happened in his dream and back at the apartment,
so he was now driving his supercar across the Raibow bridge to get to Odaiba park so that he would hopefully find his partners.
Odaiba Park
A loud engine coupled with an equally loud exhaust was heard from the parking lot, the angels recognized the sound and turned their heads towards the direction of
the sound and the rest of those present soon followed, they saw the luxurious vehicle in the parking lot and immediately recognized it, the engine was turned off and
a couple of minutes passed before the door opened.
Davis watched through the tinted windows as everyone's attention was now directed at the car because they knew he was in it, he was prepared to go outside and
face them but after seeing Ai and Mako hide away behind Jeri and Renamon in fear he began to be hesitant. He was nerveous to say the least, he grabbed an old
bottle of water from the passenger seat and took a large gulp trying to calm himself, the trauma that he had caused those two children would haunt them for the rest
of their lives, they would have horrible nightmares in which they would see his monstrous face, there was only one thing he could do, he had to face what he had
dreaded, and with that thought in mind he got out of the car in one swift movement.
"Were you liying? You said he was unconscious" asked Ken with a calm tone because he did not want to start a fight even if they had been tricked
"No of course not, he was still unconscious when we left earlier in the day. I don't know how he's here" answered Alexia while watching Davis walk towards them
"You were right, he seems to be in good physical condition, he doesn't seem to present any evident signs of body malfunctions" said Joe taking a look at Davis's
approaching figure
Ken listened to his friends and the angels exchange words and theories about Davis's sudden appearance but was not paying total attention to them, his eyes were
focused on Davis, his gaze looked so old compared to how he remembered it, it looked as if he had lived a thousand years of tragedies and sorrows, his once
confident walk had turned into absent steps that made him appear as if his feet were not touching the ground and he was merely gliding through the air like a spirit.
The chosen of kindness saw the fear that both Ai and Mako had as they saw Davis coming towards them, he could not blame them since they had been traumatized
by that monster that Davis himself had become, but he now comprehended that had to be extremely difficult for the chosen of darkness as well since he seemed
hesitant to approach the group.
"Good day" said Davis as he positioned himself in front of them group that had broken from a circle and was now lined up in front of him "Alexia, Victoria, I was
worried"
"My lord" said Victoria as she and Alexia went and hugged Davis tightly "You're ok, you had us worried sick"
"Why were you worried?" he asked ignorantly making everyone's attention shift to him since there were very few times when he seemed naïve about a situation
"You wouldn't wake up, we tried and tried, time and time again to get you to open your eyes" answered Alexia
"Listen" said Davis as he put his hands on each of the angel's shoulders "I know I haven't been myself and that has gotten to you, and that's fine. But I don't
understand the reason why you seem so worried when I only slept for a couple of hours" he answered speaking as if he was stating the obvious
Both angels separated from Davis and stood in front of him looking at him worriedly, the rest of those present stood behind them just as troubled as the angels and
waiting for a response.
"You really don't remember? Do you?" asked Alexia with soft words that carried a heavy worry
"But remember what? There's nothing to remember" answered Davis now growing impatient
"DAVIS!" called Tai at his former protege "What's the last thing you remember?" he asked, not wanting to extend the situation more in fear of a possible retaliation
from the king of darkness
"I already told you there's nothing to remember, I came back from Jade's funeral and went to sleep for a couple of hours. Why is that so hard to believe?" he asked,
now turning to everyone present
"My lord" spoke Victoria as her eyes darkened with concern "You weren't asleep for a couple of hours
Alexia continued where Victoria had left off "You have been asleep for almost two weeks, eleven days to be exact"
Silence, silence everywhere, Davis looked blankly at the group, his mind could not comprehend what he had just been told, eleven days had passed, but that was
impossible, he would have known, he would have woken up, no one can sleep that long no matter what their body goes through.
"It is a lie" he finally managed to say while looking at his angels for answers "It cannot be true, it's physically impossible"
"It's not a lie, king of darkness, you slept for eleven days and never did you wake up, making you open your eyes proved to be impossible for we tried many times to
do so, we had lost hope and without any other choice we came to the chosen for help" restated Wisemon
"BUT HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!? HOW!?" he yelled in frustration to no one in particular making everyone even the angels back away in fear of a violent outbreak, he
noticed this and did his best to try and calm himself, he reminded himself that he was not there to fight "But, did I o anything, did I talk or move or something?" he
asked
"No, you stayed frozen in the same position without any movement, your breathing was slow but in the normal range, you did not turn or anything, also you did not
even perform any of the basic human necessities which is something that baffled us even more" said Victoria
Joe listened to the exchange of conversation intently, his dream since he was a child was to become a famous physician, even with all of his knowledge on the human
body he had never seen something as extraordinary as what had taken place with Davis, he was curious to find out the truth behind it and so putting aside his usual
nervousness, he asked the chosen of dark hazard.
"Davis" he said as Davis stopped talking to his angels and turned to him to give him undivided attention "Did you hear or feel anything while you were asleep?"
Davis scratched the back of his head in a way that reminded the destined of when he was younger and still was the leader of the second generation.
"No, not that-" pausing abruptedly he remembered something of uttermost importance
"Yes?" asked Joe urging him to continue
"Dream" he asnwered vaguely "A dream, I had a dream"
By this time everyone was expecting him to continue, Joe and the angels signaled him to explain the dream to them and that is what the king of darkness tried to do.
"In the dream I was-" he said as he tried to remember
The king's mind was foggy, he tried to remember what he had been told and what he had seen, he knew it was something that made him angry beyond control since
he remembered the outbreak from earlier in the day. As his mind searched for answers he began to feel a throbbing pressure on his head, the pain was light at first
but then it increased and increased and increased.
"Master, are you ok?" asked Alexia clearly seeing him struggle
"Yes, I-Im...AHHHHHHHHH!" he suddenly yelled as he fell to his knees
"MASTER!" "MY LORD" yelled Alexia and Victoria as they tried to get close to him
"NO! NO! STAY AWAY!...ARRRRRGHHHHH! I NEED TO REMEMBER!"
Davis felt his breath and consciousness slip away from him, he tried to remember as much as he could but all he could see was a mountain with a blurry background,
the voices of the people present now sounded like echos and were soon joined by another sound.
*tic toc* *tic toc*
A clock, it was the sound that a clock made signaling the passing of time, Davis's eyes were closed but in his mind he saw what appeared to be a shadow.
"Do not speak, do not say, time ticks away, you have chosen your route, be aware that time is running out"
Davis managed to open his eyes and realized that he was now lying on a bench surrounded by the chosen, their digimon and his own partners, he slowly sat up and
faced them, he realized that his mouth tasted like blood and he had stains of red on his chest and shirt.
"What happened?"
"After you doubled over in pain, you told us to stay away when we tried to help you, then you began to bleed from your nose and ears and passed out" answered
Wisemon taking over
"All of that started after I told you about the dream" he answered now having recuperated most of his energy
"You never told us what it was all about" said Joe
"I-I" he said trying to find the correct words "I can't remeber" he answered finally
Joe looked at Davis to try and see if he was lying, he knew that it was of no use since the young man could fool the devil himself if he wanted to but even so he still
found himself believing what he had just heard, the rest of the chosen did not press the matter any longer as well because of the state that Davis had been put in by
trying to remember what had happened.
"There is no reason to continue this conversation, I believe that at this moment we have more important things to talk about" said Davis regaining his energy and
speaking in a firm tone that left no objection
Davis slowly stood up and walked a few steps away from the chosen and his team, he was now facing all of them, he noticed Ai and Mako still hiding behind Jeri and
Renamon and decided that it was time to adress the issue that had been bothering him since the end of the battle.
"The monster I am has hurt many, I have so much blood on my hands that it could fill an entire ocean, I have whole cemetaries of souls on my conscience, since I
became the king of darkness I promised myself that I would never hurt innocents." he said while everyone listened intently with both fear and disappointment "But I
broke that promise, I hurt two innocents that are standing here alongside all of you, I've learned through the course of my life that the past cannot be changed, but
the future can always be altered. Ai and Mako will never grow up like normal children thanks to me, I have become the monster that will appear in their nightmares
and will keep them awake every night, I cannot let that happen."
Davis paused and now looked straight at the Tamers group, he lowered his voice and said in a careful tone full of tact.
"That is why I am offering them something to change that. As you all know I can rewrite a person's memory at will"
"Are you suggesting what I think you are?" asked Rika trying to sound calm but still with a hint of anger in her tone
"Yes, I can make all of those things that they saw go away"
Impmon thought carefully about the offer that the king of darkness was giving them, he did not trust the man, in fact he could say that he hated him for what he had
done not only to Ai and Mako but to all of the group as a whole, but even with his resentment he wanted to do what was best for the children, he knew that they had
taken the incident very hard and it showed each time they closed their eyes. He looked back at his partners who seemed troubled, they were trying to understand
what Davis's offer consisted off but their age was a factor that could easily lead them to being manipulated, so Impmon nodded at them indicating security and began
approaching Davis.
"IMPMON WARP DIGIVOLVE TO...BEELZEMON!"
"IMPMON! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" asked the Tamers loudly
"STAY OUT OF THIS!" he replied just as loud
Alexia and Victoria saw Beelzemon walking towards Davis and their first thought was to intercept him, they looked back at Davis for confirmation and he waved his
hand up and down indicating them to stand down and let the digimon get close to him.
"Beelzemon, it's been a while. I assume that you did not transform merely to look taller, is there anything you would like to say to me?" he asked calmly but loud
enough for everyone to hear
"I understand what you're saying buddy, but let me tell ya, I don't believe any of the crap you just said" answered Beelzemon now standing in front of Davis, his
height making the king of darkness look small and weak
"And why is that?" asked Davis
"Cause I know guys like you, you lie and promise all the shit in the world and then you just scam and hurt people, you've hurt not only my partners but all of us here.
Why should we trust your word when you are nothing more than a lying snake"
Davis thought about his answer, he frankly wanted to rip Beelzemon's intestines out but knew that his plan with Ai and Mako would fail if he did that
"For two reasons. Number one, if I wanted to kill you I would have done so already, trust me when I say that when it comes to humans my ways of sending them to
the other side are much more creative than with digimon. And number two, because I was like Ai and Mako, when I was their age I lost two people, I lost them to
monsters like the one I turned into, with time, betrayal and pain I was driven to make a choice, and I chose to become what I am now. That path is something I do
not wish for Ai and Mako to walk, if I could I would remedy many mistakes but I cannot, this however is something I can. I will not force them to do this, if they wish
to continue living with those memories then I can't do anything about it, but I'm not going to lie, it will only become harder from now on"
As he explained this he looked at Beelzemon straight in the eye without waivering for a second, the digimon replied by doing the same but Davis could see the
insecurity behind his actions, he was rough and vulgar but he knew that he had to be prudent because Davis could easily kill him.
"I see, so lets say that Ai and Mako agree to this, how can we be sure you will not hurt them? Like I said before, you aren't someone to be trusted, for all I know, this
could be a trap and you're just giving your damn speech to buy yourself some time"
The king of darkness had predicted that he would run into situations like the one he was currently in if he tried to help the young tamers, so he had formulated a plan
in order to demonstrate how serious he was about helping them, but before doing that, he had to know the children's answers.
"I will answer that question with pleasure. But first I need to know their responses." he said looking at Ai and Mako
The pressure that Ai and Mako felt at the moment could only be described as crushing, they wanted to forget what had happened but truth be told, they were terrified
of the man across them, he was a monster and they knew not to trust him, doubts filled their young minds while minutes passed and no responses were heard.
"It seems that the response is no, I'm sorry that you will need to live with this, but if that is your choice then I will respect it" said Davis
The king of darkness turned around and began walking away not bothering to say goodbye or have the angels follow him, the chosen stood looking from him to Ai
and Mako back and forth, but when Davis was halfway back to the parking lot he heard someone scream at him.
"WAIT!"
He turned around and found that it was Mako who had yelled at him
"OK! WE SAY YES!"
Davis smiled sincerely and began walking back towards them, he was stopped by Beelzemon who stood protectively in front of the children.
"Not so fast buddy, we need to make sure that this isnt some bullshit scam that you are doing to us. Cause you're crazy if you think I'm letting them close to you
without having an advantage."
"I understand, but I can assure you that what I am about to say will calm your nerves"
Davis extended his palms and invoked his power.
"Now I will very slowly call upon the hazard pistols" he said as Beelzemon eyed him suspiciously "Next, I will need two other digimon. Hikari and Takeru, merge to
your mega forms, the park is empty so there should be no problem if you do so"
T.K. and Kari looked at each other and then at their group, they knew that there was a reason that Davis was picking them out of the whole group and they wanted to
know why.
"Ok, but why us, Davis?" asked Takeru
"Glad you asked, because you two are the ones that hate me the most" he said as his demeanor went from composed to bitter and hateful
"But Davis, that's not true" said Kari trying to disperse the tension that was being created
"Hikari, I understand your need to be good to everyone since you are the chosen of light, but let's not lie to ourselves, you and Takeru hate me for what I've done" he
said and then gave a low laugh "And I don't blame you, I humilliated your brother, beat up the guy that you're probably gonna marry and turned into the king of the
place you are still terrified of. And as for Takeru, well I beat him in every aspect known, I turned into the type of creature that he despises the most, and most
importantly, I demonstrated that my darkness surpassed your powers. So that is the reason I am choosing you, because if it is needed, you will not hesitate to hurt
me and that's the whole point of this"
Davis did not like to be kept waiting so right after he finished the last sentence, he urged the two chosen to biomerge into their mega forms, at first they were too
shocked and in T.K.'s case angry to respond, but after some seconds they managed to biomerge.
PATAMON BIOMERGE TO...SERAPHIMON!
GATOMON BIOMERGE TO...OPHANIMON X!
"Now for the weapons" "HAZARD PISTOLS!"
The two chromed weapons appeared in Davis's hands making everyone nervous to see his power again, but instead of using them, he turned them around and
grabbed each one by the cannon, he then walked over to Beelzemon and said.
"Here, take it" Beelzemon grabbed the pistol as Davis turned to Ophanimon X
"For you as well, take it"
He then glanced over at Seraphimon "Call upon your excalibur sword and I will explain in a minute"
Seraphimon obliged and in front of Davis now stood three mega level digimon all armed with very powerful weapons, the king of darkness slowly fell to his knees and
looked up at the large group of people and digimon who were confused as to what he was doing.
"Ophanimon X, Beelzemon, and Seraphimon, listen to what I have to say. Ophanimon and Beelzemon, you both stand on each of my sides"
The two mega level digimon stood at each of Davis's sides and still had the pistols in their hands
"Seraphimon, please stand behind me"
Now the digimon surrounded Davis on three sides, the angels watched hesitantly as Davis gave the digimon their last order.
"There we go, now I want you to point all of your weapons straight at my head"
"Wait what!?" asked everyone loudly
"Brilliant plan isnt it? If they think I will hurt Ai and Mako they can either pull the trigger or in Seraphimon's case bury the sword into my head. Now children, please
come forth"
The two young tamers walked nervously towards Davis, they constantly looked back at their friends for support, the steps that they took to get to the chosen of
darkness felt eternal and when they were finally there they refused to meet his gaze.
"Ai, Mako. I know you're scared, but I need you to look at me straight in the eye, if you don't do it then all of this will not work. Can you do that?"
Mako was the one to lift his gaze up first, Davis could see that they were trembling with fear and their eyes watered a bit, he decided to not take any more time and
without further or due he said.
"MEMORY DISTURBANCE!"
Davis's eyes became completely white while the children's gaze became blank, he proceded to dig into their memories and began to try and remedy the traumas that
they had been exposed to.
"You went on an adventure with your friends Impmon, Jeri, Alice and the rest of the tamers, it was a whole new world were you met new friends and their digimons,
you met a lone chosen that travelled with two very pretty girls, they were quiet so you rarely talked to them, although you miss home you still like it here because of
all the fun moments you've had along with your new friends"
The words were taken by the wind one by one until there was only silence, Ai and Mako's gazes became normal again as well as Davis's, the three digimon that
surrounded him lowered their weapons as the king of darkness rose from the floor and wiped the dirt of his knees. The two children looked around surprised at their
surroundings, but before they could begin to ask questions, Davis took over by conceilling the truth behind their sudden confusion.
"Ai, Mako, that was quite the fall you took, don't climb that high up on the trees because you can get hurt"
"What are we doing here?" asked Ai confused
"See I told you, we were playing tag with everyone, you were on my team and after I got caught by Seraphimon and the rest of the gang, you decided that if you
climbed on top of the highest tree you would be safe from getting tagged, do you remember?"
"Oh yeah, I told Ai that we could hide between the branches and the leaves so that nobody could see us." answered Mako leaving everyone to look at Davis
flabbergasted at his power of manipulation
"We lost as you can see, but it was a very good game, we lasted quite a while. Guys you can change back, the game's over, it's time to take a rest"
The three megas changed back to their human and rookie forms, Ai and Mako went over to Jeri happily chatting with one another as if they had not one care in the
world, although they had been liberated from the burden of their memories, there was still some things that needed to be taken care off, and the children could not
be present to hear that conversation.
"Jeri, could you do us a favor?" he asked and Jeri nodded "Can you, Alice, Mako and Ai, go to the convenience store to get some food, I'm sure that after all that
running and playing everyone must be very hungry, the place is not that far, you just go to the parking lot and it's like a block and half from there"
It didn't take long for the two older Tamers to understand the reason behind Davis's request, so without any objection they started walking towards the parking lot
but not before Davis pulled out his wallet and gave them 25000 yens, the latter making the chosen's eyes wide because of the lack of care for his money.
"Now that they are gone I want you to listen to what I have to say...You can never tell them what happened in that quadrant, never remind them, never even speak
about it in their presence, if you do so, the results could devastating for their sanity, do you understand?"
Everyone including the angels nodded accepting Davis's order, the chosen of darkness suddenly regained the uncomfortableness that he had arrived with, he stayed
quiet and looked up at the sky that had suddenly turned cloudy, it then hit him, everyone there hated him, everyone present had suffered because of him, he smiled
sadly at his misfortune, this did not go unnoticed by those close to him, Ken was the first one that asked why he had suddenly become quiet and was smiling.
"Davis, what's so funny?"
The young king thought about his answer and when he found the correct words he said
"Nothing, all I was thinking of was how life can be so ironic at times"
"How so?" asked Ken
"Well" he said chuckling "Imagine being the person everyone loves because he saved the world and then becoming the being everyone hates because all he does is
destroy. Quite funny really." finished the young man crudely
"Davis I-"
"Don't worry about it, I don't expect anyone here to give a bouquet of flowers and tell me how much they love me, and to be honest I kind of don't like some people
here because of my experiences with them, so in a sense I guess we're even."
Davis finished these words by looking at T.K. and then looking at the rest of the chosen, he searched his pocket and pulled out his car keys.
"Ken" he said "Do you remember what I said to you when I went to visit you and Hikari at the hospital?"
"Yes, you said that you would leave" answered the chosen of kindness getting everyone's attention
"Indeed, I told you that after all of this was done you would never have to deal with me ever again. And that time has arrived, there's nothing left for me here, I
won...and I lost. Eventhough I am not fond of the majority of the people here, I would be lying if I said that you weren't worthy opponents, congratulations on your
survival and I sincerely hope that we do not cross paths again. Goodbye chosen"
Davis turned around and rapidly began walking back to his car, Wisemon ran after him while the angels stood quietly at the side of the chosen.
"King!" he yelled and Davis turned around
"Yes?" asked Davis more out of politeness rather than actual care
"As you know the Tamers and the legendary Warriors need to head back to their own dimensions." said Wisemon
"And might I ask how is that my problem?" answered Davis with hostility
The answer that Davis gave shocked even the angels, he suddenly seemed so detached and cold, he was behaving nothing like a few moments ago when he was
helping Ai and Mako, his emptiness had come back and it was now showing.
"Tamers and Warriors. I want you to understand one thing, yes I hurt you and yes I committed horrible acts but I never brought you here, I never called upon you, the
sovereigns did, you fought me and did not believe any of my words, I did not bring you here so I will not help you leave, you can ask Wisemon over here or Alexia or
Victoria to help you if you would like, but do not expect help from me. In summary, it's not my problem, deal with it"
Wisemon was left speechless and so did everyone else, Davis got into his car and rapidly sped away into the street and then into the highway leading back to Tokyo
metro, everyone was too caught up in what just had happened that they didn't notice Jeri, Alice and the children come back from the convenience store until Alice
asked.
"Hey, where did Davis go?"
Olympian Towers: Tokyo
The tires of the european supercar screeched loudly as it came to a definite stop, Davis got out of the car almost running, time was not on his side, he knew that
dream and that voice were calling him, he had to find out why and he had a lead, a mountain, there were hundreds if not thousands in the world, but that would not
stop him from the truth. The angels would arrive soon and he could not leave if they were there, what he was doing, abandoning them, it was wrong and he knew it
but uncovering the mystery of that dream and that mountain was a priority, not only that but he needed time, time to accept that Lily was gone, time to accept that
his life would never be the same and time to understand that he would never be the same.
He raced to the elevator and pushed the button for the last floor, the doors swung open to reveal an empty space to which he entered, arriving at his penthouse he
opened the door and noticed that the water leak had fortunately stopped, he thanked for the electric drain system that notified of an leak in any apartment and shut
down the water supply. In his room he quickly grabbed the biggest bag that he could find and put all the clothes and accessories that he thought he would need to
survive in his trip, he grabbed the box with Lily's ashes and rushed out of the room, in the kitchen counter he left the keys to his car and proceeded to exit the door.
Taking the stairway he made it to the top of the tower, looking at the far horizon he felt a knot in his throat, he hated to admit it but he would miss the constant
encounters with the chosen, he had grown used to seeing them, not only that but the presence of his two angels made everything so much more easy to deal
with, they were a team and by leaving he knew that he was letting them down.
"Some friend I am" he said to himself
Odaiba Park
"I understand that what the king said may have come off as rude but I can assure you that we will do everything possible in order to send you children back to your
respective worlds" said Wisemon serenely while the chosen looked at him with doubt
"Then why don't you do it now? If you are truly gonna help us then do it" said Rika
"I was expecting you to say your goodbyes but I see that you have already done so, very well, please stand back" answered Wisemon
"DIMMENSIONAL RIFT! TAMER DIMENSION OPEN!"
The digimon yelled loudly and expected the familiar vortex to appear in front of him, but nothing happened, only the wind blew and the Tamers were still there.
"TAMER DIMENSION OPEN!" he yelled again
"DIMENSION OPEN!"
"OPEN! OPEN! OPEN!"
"WISEMON!" finally yelled Alexia after the poor digimon almost popped a vein from trying to hard to open the portal "Let us try it"
And so, both Alexia and Victoria positioned themselves at the spot where Wisemon was standing and said
"DIMENSIONAL RIFT! WARRIOR DIMENSION OPEN!"
"DIMENSIONAL RIFT! TAMER DIMENSION OPEN!"
And the result was the same, nothing, the air only grew thick with tension and impatience, the chosen did not know whether or not they should be angry at Davis,
they knew that out of the four he had the most power but was blocking the entrance to other dimensions even possible to do.
"The entrances are blocked, it's no use, I can't open the rift" said Victoria after her 20th try
"But how is that even possible? You can't just block out a rift from appearing, you would need tremendous power to do that" explained Alexia looking at Wisemon for
an answer
The protector of the crest looked at the chosen and when their gazes met he understood what they were thinking, they believed that Davis had something to do with
the fact that the portals were blocked.
"Children, I know what you are thinking, but I can assure you that even the king of darkness cannot simply restrict dimensional rifts. Although our powers are similar
they are not interconnected, what I or any of the two angels do, cannot be controlled by Davis or anyone else."
"We've seen Davis open those damn portals all the time without even breaking a sweat, now you tell us that they're blocked!" said Koji raising his voice
"Yeah, YOU WORK FOR HIM! HE'S PISSED BECAUSE HE LOST THE KID AND WANTS TO TAKE IT OUT ON US BY LEAVING US STRANDED HERE!" yelled Rika at the
hazard group making everyone stay quiet
Alexia did not say anything and put a hand on Victoria's shoulder so that she would remain quiet, she walked towards Rika who had Renamon by her side and said in
such a tone that it reminded the Warriors of the times they fought her in their own dimension.
"If you ever, ever, speak ill of Lily again I will make sure that your voice is never heard ever again because I will rip your tongue from your mouth and feed it to the
dogs at the shelter" she then looked at Renamon "Keep her in check, we all know that you don't stand a chance against me"
Olympian Towers:Tokyo
Davis had decided to call the angels once he was in another part of the world, if he did so right now it would be impossible for him to leave, he would break and he
knew it, looking back at the city behind him he called upon the words that would take him to a far away place.
"DIMENSIONAL RIFT!...PORTAL OPEN!"
The portal appeared in front of the young chosen, he slowly began to move into the portal but before he could get in fully, he experienced a blinding pain in his head
which made him double in pain. In his mind he saw a snowy mountain range and someone on top of it, he recognized that mountain from the vision he had when he
was with the chosen, but that was all he could remember, the vision stopped and Davis rushed to the portal before anything else could stop him.
Unknown Location.
"Come on Davis, come on, find me kid, find me soon before its too late. Tic toc goes the clock"
El Rosario:Michoacan:Mexico
Davis appeared in the middle of a beautiful forest in the southern part of Mexico, before Lily's death he had been researching about butterfly migration because he
planned to take Lily to see them since she was so fond of them, now that she was gone all he could do was keep that promise. The trees were covered in brightly
covered butterflies that attached themselves to the trees' branches, Davis began to walk further to the top of a nearby hill, once he was there he put his bag on the
ground and reached for the box of Lily's ashes, he silently cried as he opened the box and the ashes flew into the horizon accompanied by thousands of breathtaking
butterflies that finally took Lily away forever.
"Fly away my little flower...I love you Lily" he said while a butterfly stood on his shoulder, and in that moment he swore that he could hear her voice.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT IS DONE! The grand finale of The Crest of Darkness, after more than two years and many encouraging words I have
finally completed my first fanfic. Now it's not over yet, as you can see from the chapter, there are many things left unanswered which means that I
plan on making a continuation for this. I am still not sure when I will start this because I am interested in writing a small Harry Potter fic since it's
always been my dream but I can guarantee that I will not abandon this project.
I thank you all for such a warm and positive support that you have given me since I started writing, I hope that you are not too mad because of how
I ended the story, and if you are then hopefully you can still continue reading my stuff and maybe I can make you happy again. Once again thank
you so much for everything, it has been a blast.
