Summary: "I'm sorry I need to leave, but I think that we both need time, so I'm leaving for the city where I can forget it all." Only one problem, what city is that? And Phineas has to find her, or lose her forever.

A/N: Yep, I got a song stuck in my head. So yeah... part of it appears in this chapter.

I do not own Phineas and Ferb. All © go to Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh.

Chapter 17: Heading Home

Phineas spent the next few hours underneath the tree on the hill, waiting for Isabella to regain consciousness. Phineas was actually very surprised when Isabella had lost consciousness when he had injected her with the spare set of memories. Looking out over the city, Phineas ate a sandwich as he waited for Isabella and by the time the sun was beginning to set, Phineas noted that Isabella was finally beginning to regain consciousness.

"Hey sleepy head," Phineas smiled as Isabella began to sit up. "How you feelin'?"

"Phineas?" Isabella rubbed her eyes, trying to rub the sleep out of her eyes. "What are you doing here? Actually... where is HERE exactly?"

"Well, HERE," Phineas motioned around at the city below. "Is Israel. Specifically, Tel-Aviv, the de-facto capital city of the country."

"Israel.." Isabella furrowed her brow, trying to think past the last week or so. "I don't remember anything in the past week after taking off on the plane from the airport. How did you even find me?"

"Isabella, you have to remember who I am," Phineas smiled before explaining. "Your genetic code began returning to normal a few days ago. Once it got close enough to your original code, I managed to track you heading West. After that, all I had to do was follow where you'd been. So, now its my turn to ask some questions." Phineas waited for Isabella to nod before continuing. "Why? Was this really worth it?"

"I think so," Isabella shrugged. "It proved you cared about our friendship."

"You know I have a horrible sense of time!" Phineas protested. "I had actually circled the date on my calendar.. actually... being today. Not last week. Sorry. Anyway, now that you've got your memories back, shall we go home?"

"Home?" Isabella asked. "Oh.. right..."

Phineas just sat there, as did Isabella, neither of them moving to get up. Phineas then found himself singing softly to himself without even thinking about it. "Bow, chicka, bow-wow. That's what my baby says. Mow, mow, mow. And my heart starts pumping. Chicka-chicka choo, whop. Never gonna stop. Gitchee gitchee goo means that..."

Phineas looked over to Isabella expectantly. "I love you," Isabella finished, looking back at Phineas.

Phineas smiled at his neighbor. "So Isabella, are you willing to come home with me? Or are you going to stay in this desert?"

"You know, for all the thrills that happen at home, the desert is starting to grow on me," Isabella explained, looking out over the city. "And chances are, you're going to forget our friendship anniversary again next year. You always do. And then I'll do something even more stupid than this year get you to remember. Maybe if we go home, we should just stop worrying about celebrating it. It would make things so much easier for us."

"If?" Phineas asked. "You might not come back?"

Isabella shrugged. "I don't really want to keep doing this year after year Phineas."

"Isabella..." Phineas began. "I told everyone back home that I wasn't coming back unless you were with me. In fact, I'm probably gonna be grounded till we have grandchildren for coming after you."

"...what?" Isabella looked up, only hearing the last part of the comment.

"My mom wasn't pleased with me pulling a disappearing act on her before school started," Phineas explained. "That being said. Can I ask why you chose Christine as an alias? I mean, between your DNA change and changing your name, I almost couldn't find you."

"It sounded nice," Isabella admitted. "Nothing fancy or special about it other than how it sounded."

"And for this whole stunt," Phineas waved around. "The memories, the chase, the letter. This wasn't a spontaneous plan. It must've taken you a while to figure that all out and put it together. How long have you been planning this scenario?"

"A little over a year," Isabella admitted. "Just in case the worst case scenario happened. Although I admit, I wasn't really expecting to use this for our friendship anniversary."

Phineas sighed before starting to plead. "Please come back Isabella. We can work things out." Phineas shook his head. "Wow... I sound like some married guy trying to placate his wife."

"On the possibility of sounding redundant ...what?" Isabella asked, only catching the wife part."

"Nevermind," Phineas waved it off. "So, will you come back with me? I've got the plane tickets already. We just need to hop in a plane back to Danville and we can go."

"Alright, but if you forget our anniversary next year, you're going to regret it," Isabella warned with a hint of a sadistic smile on her face.

"I promise I won't forget," Phineas held up his right hand. "Scout's honor."

"You're not a scout Phineas," Isabella pointed out jokingly as they both got to their feet and began heading towards the outskirts of the city where the airport was located.

"Not yet, but maybe next summer," Phineas smiled. "Who knows. There are a lot of years to come."

A/N: Ooh, so I made a reference to my new series the Loyal Brotherhood of the Fireside Boys. One more chapter after this and then I'm freeeeeeee!
