Author's Note: Sorry, this is short I know, but I had to end it where I did. Next chapter is long, and with any luck, I'll be able to get that up in the next couple of days.
Chapter Fourteen
It had been a week since Chasity had last seen or spoken to Jon. She knew he had returned from the last leg of the WWE tour because she'd driven past his apartment earlier in the day and his saw car sitting in its assigned parking spot in front of his apartment complex, and when she looked up at his apartment window she noticed there was a light on inside. She had tried texting him several times, but he wasn't responding, and she hadn't bothered to try calling him because chances were, if he's not responding to her texts, he wouldn't answer her phone calls, either. She didn't know what else to do.
To say she hated this entire situation would be a gross understatement. They had just gotten back into each other's lives, and already they were arguing and fighting. The worst part was the amount of emotions she found herself battling due to it. She was angry because Jon promised he'd help her, and now instead he was ignoring her. Disappointed because she had allowed herself to trust and believe him, and it only ended up getting her burned again. And her biggest and worst feeling in all of this was regret. If she hadn't pushed him about the baby's name maybe he wouldn't be ignoring her. Why'd she insist on needing his approval? After all, he was technically right when he said he had no actual say in the name of the baby. But noooo, she couldn't just leave well enough alone. Nope, instead she had to keep pushing him; fishing for his approval where it wasn't really needed. She felt so stupid. Now because of her actions she'd once again lost her best friend and would likely have to return to her old ways to care for her son because nobody else would give her a chance.
She'd royally fucked up once again.
Jon had read every one of Chasity's texts, but hadn't respond. Not because he didn't want to, or because he was ignoring her, but more because he had no idea how to respond. He wasn't the type of guy that usually apologized. Normally he'd just never speak to the person again, or at least until he thought the ordeal was forgotten and didn't need to be talked about anymore. This was different; he knew he needed to find a way to apologize to her.
He pondered all of his options over and over several times before he finally decided to just go to her apartment because this situation would be best dealt with face-to-face. Grabbing his wallet, keys and phone he headed out the door, but as he stepped out he nearly knocked someone over. On instinct, Jon reached out and grabbed ahold of their biceps to keep them on their feet. Looking up he released his hold once he was sure they were steady and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Hi," was all he could manage to spit out when he opened his mouth.
Chasity decided to do something about this situation. She wasn't going to lose her best friend again. Not like this. She fucked it up, so it was high time she go and fix it. Grabbing her belongings she rushed out to her car and quickly cranked the engine, driving over to Jon's apartment. She was hoping and praying he was still there.
Upon arrival into the apartment complex parking lot she noticed Jon's car was still there as she pulled the keys from the ignition and jumped out of the car. Shoving the keys into her purse she raced up to his apartment door as quickly as she could. She had just raised her hand to knock on the door when it was suddenly swung open and Jon stepped out almost knocking her off her feet. But his reflexes were quick enough to grasp onto her biceps, making sure she remained on her feet. When he looked up, locking eyes with her, he released his hold and shoved his hands into his pockets. A movement Chasity knew he had always used as a defense mechanism when he didn't know what else to do with his hands. "Hi," he softly spoke. Chasity rubbed her hands together and nodded.
"Hi. Can we please talk," she questioned. Jon gave a short nod and motioned her into his apartment with his hand.
"Sure, let's talk. I was actually just on my way to your place, but clearly we had the same idea and you beat me to the punch," Jon chuckled, allowing Chasity to walk past him before closing his apartment door and following her back into his apartment so they could finally discuss their issues.
With any luck, by the end of this discussion they will have their issues behind them, and left in the past where they belonged, while Jon and Chasity worked on getting their friendship back on course to where it had been back when they were in high school.
