Chapter Sixteen
Author's Note: Someone commented that they thought Chasity getting tired so quickly after a nap meant something was wrong. Tiredness is a downfall of pregnancy because the body is working for two when it's use to working for one. Tiredness is very common in pregnancy. I promise nothing's wrong with her or Kaleb. (I don't have the heart to do that even if this is just fiction.)
Non-story related: WrestleMania: I'm still in shock about the streak ending. To me, the streak was the main storyline of WrestleMania season. It's gonna be so weird next year when there's no streak talk. The Shield's match was quick, but they won. Not only did they win, they won in dominating fashion over three guys from the attitude era! We all know how awesome the attitude era was, so the fact they beat them so quickly is pretty awesome.
RAW: I think RAW made it very apparent that the future is NOW! Daniel Bryan has the title, The Wyatt's defeated Cena, Sheamus and Big E in dominating fashion (and the only member of the Cena team had any extended offense in the match was Big E), Adam Rose and Bo Dallas are on their way to the main roster, Paige is the New Divas Champion; Emma beat Summer Rea with the Emma-lock; Rusev destroyed poor Zack Ryder; and The Shield helped Daniel Bryan take out the Authority to end the show. And to top that, tonight, live on Main Event on the WWE Network (for those that don't have access to the network yet, or who can't afford it check your local listings tomorrow night) The Shield will take on The Wyatts again in six-man tag action. Yes, after last night I'm 99% sure it is safe to say: The future is no doubt NOW!
Okay, sorry. I rambled for a while here. I'll shut up now. Enjoy the new chapter.
It had only been seven o'clock when Chasity went to bed; entirely too early for Jon. So instead he sat on the sofa flipping through channels on the TV trying to find something interesting to watch. He had flipped through seemingly every channel and still couldn't find a single interesting program he wanted to watch. "How can you have a thousand some channels and still not be able to find a single thing to watch," he rhetorically asked himself as he turned the TV off and tossed the now useless remote onto the coffee table in front of him.
Getting up he went to the kitchen and decided to clean up the dinner dishes. He quickly rinsed each dish and slipped it into the dishwasher before turning it on. He sat at the kitchen table and listened to the dishwasher go through its usual cycle as he looked at his phone. Its clock display showed that it was only seven-thirty; time was really crawling along tonight. He needed a distraction from boredom. Opening his text app he found Colby's name before he started typing a message to his friend.
Chasity felt exhausted when she was sitting at the dinner table, but now that she was in bed, sleep was evading her. Go figure. She wasn't sure if it was because she was in a strange bed, or because Kaleb wouldn't quit moving around; or perhaps a combo of the two. Whatever it was, it was beginning to irritate her. She just wanted to sleep and she couldn't. It was really annoying.
She laid there with her eyes closed a little while longer before finally deciding it was time to get something to help her fall asleep. "Maybe a warm glass of milk will help," she thought aloud about one of the old sleep remedies she learned as a child. Forgetting she had removed her pants and was only in her t-shirt and panties, so she could sleep comfortably, she walked out to the kitchen and pulled the gallon of milk she had seen Jon had from his fridge before grabbing a mug from one of his kitchen cabinets. It felt weird to be walking around Jon's kitchen like it was her own, but she figured if she wanted something she had to be independent and get it herself. Besides Jon was on the phone when she'd walked into the kitchen and she didn't want to disturb him.
While she was preparing her mug of milk for the microwave she got suspicious about Jon's conversation when he went completely silent midsentence. Popping her now full mug of milk into the microwave she turned it on before turning to see why Jon was suddenly quiet. He was staring at her with his mouth wide open. Chasity gave him a strange look before glancing down toward her feet. A surprised gasp left her mouth when the realization that she'd forgotten to put her pants back on before she came out of the bedroom hit her.
Jon had called Colby after Colby had told him he wasn't doing anything except sitting at home with his girlfriend. They were talking about something they were going to do during the upcoming part of the tour when Jon heard Chasity enter the kitchen. Looking up to see what she was doing he couldn't believe she was standing in front of him pants-less. He couldn't help but stop talking mid-sentence as his mouth dropped open and he'd totally blocked out the conversation Colby and he were in the middle of.
When Chasity realized she was standing in front of him sans pants, her gasp broke Jon out of his shock filled haze. "Uhh, C…Colby I have to go. I'll call you tomorrow, or something," Jon sputtered out before hanging the phone up without giving Colby a chance to respond. He couldn't help but eye Chasity's naked legs. He was a guy, after all; and she was a beautiful girl, standing in his kitchen in nothing but a t-shirt and her underwear.
Chasity darted back to Jon's spare bedroom and quickly slipped her pants back on. Reentering the kitchen she gave Jon and apologetic smile. "Sorry, I forgot I had taken them off to get comfortable. You didn't have to get off the phone on my account." Jon managed to clear his mind of the image of Chasity standing before him without pants and shrugged.
"It was just Colby. I can talk to him anytime I want; we travel together," Jon informed her. "Why are you still awake? I thought you were going to bed?" Chasity nodded. "So did I, but despite being exhausted, once I was actually in bed, I couldn't fall asleep. I'm not sure if it was because I was in a strange place, because Kaleb has decided it is play time, or a combination of both of them, but I couldn't fall asleep." Chasity shrugged. "So as a result I decided to come get a glass of warm milk to see if that would help any," she informed him, pulling the milk out of the microwave as it beeped signaling it was done heating the mug of milk. Walking over to the table she placed her warm mug down on the table and sat down across from Jon.
It was now close to nine-thirty and Chasity had finished up her milk and hour ago, yet she was no closer to sleeping now than she had been before. She sighed in frustration. She just wanted to sleep, but nothing was working, and sleeping pills weren't an option because of her pregnancy. Besides, they aren't healthy for you anyway, and it's a bad habit to get into. Jon could see the frustration and exhaustion written all over her face as he cleared his throat and nodded his head in the direction of the living room. "Let's go see if we can find anything to watch on TV." Chasity didn't argue with him; she didn't have the energy, so she got up and followed him into the living room and they sat down on the sofa.
Jon grabbed the remote off the table where he'd previously laid it earlier in the evening, and handed it over to Chasity before patting his lap. "Lay your head in my lap. Does rubbing your head and scratching your scalp still help you relax?" Chasity shrugged, laying her head in Jon's lap. "It might. I haven't had anybody use it on me since the last time we were friends and we hung out," Chasity told him. "At this point I'll try just about anything to get some sleep," she confessed, beginning to flip through the channels as Jon began to gently run his fingers through her hair and softly scratch her scalp.
Chasity managed to find "Full House" on Nick at Nite. Putting the remote beside her, they began watching the episode and she focused on Jon's finger's running through her hair. She closed her eyes and concentrated on Jon's fingers gently scratching her scalp. Soon the sound of the television became distant background noise as Chasity finally, slowly began to doze off.
Jon knew Chasity had finally fallen asleep because her body had completely relaxed. But to make sure she wouldn't wake back up he decided to continue to alternate his fingers between running them through her hair and gently scratching her scalp in random spots.
After a while he readjusted their bodies a little bit to make himself more comfortable and went right back to running his fingers through her hair until he too dozed off; his fingers still tangled within Chasity's hair, and the TV still playing another episode of "Full House" quietly in the background.
