Author's Note: Sorry it took me nearly two weeks to get an update up. Work kicked my ass the last couple of weeks, and then last weekend was my birthday, so I was busy celebrating that. lol But here is the new update, and hopefully the end of it will make up for taking so long to update. ;)
On a non-story-note: I am sooo looking forward to Extreme Rules and The Shield vs Evolution. One of the best storylines in awhile! Alright, onto the update. Hopefully you enjoy it. :)
Chapter Nineteen
The room was so silent you could've heard a pin drop. Jon stood across from Chasity, his muscular arms folded across his broad, muscular chest waiting for Chasity to speak. He had all day, so he'd wait until she was ready. "I have all day, Chas, I have nowhere to be, so I'll stand here until you finally say something. I have no problem with that," Jon told her, leaning back against the wall that was behind him causing the black t-shirt he was wearing to stretch across his broad chest and become skin tight, showing off just how muscular he was without being able to actually see his muscles.
Chasity took a deep breath. Jon's shirt now being skin tight wasn't helping her in this ordeal at all. It also didn't help that her mind kept going back to seeing him in nothing but a towel as he came out of the shower two weeks prior. "I… I…" Chasity couldn't spit it out. "I can't do this, Jon," Chasity panicked, darting for her bedroom and slamming the door shut before locking it. She couldn't tell him. It would destroy their friendship, she was sure of it, and she refused to lose him because she was pregnant, horny and couldn't control her hormones.
Normally Jon would've stopped Chasity in her tracks before she could get out of the room and forced her to talk, but when she darted he was too surprised to move. He just wasn't expecting her to run like she had. Once the shock had worn off Jon finally walked down the hallway to her bedroom door. She had to open up to him if she wanted them to be able to get back to the same friendship they had back in high school. Jon tried the door knob only to see she had actually locked it. Sighing, he knocked on the door. "Chas, come on, open the door, please," Jon called through it.
Chasity sat on her bed and listened to Jon beg her to open the door. She couldn't do it. Her bedroom was too tempting of a place to have this conversation. If she saw him in here she was liable to jump him. She just couldn't take that chance and risk everything.
Jon's patients were beginning to wear thin. He was getting sick of her ignoring him. "Chasity, open this damn door now, or I swear I will kick it in. I'm done with this childish bullshit." She knew that wasn't a threat, it was a promise. Jon had no problem following up on whatever he said. Getting up she headed toward the door. "One…," Jon shouted through the door. "Two…," Jon called again as Chasity quickly unlocked the door and pulled it open before he could start kicking it. Without looking at him she walked back over to her bed and threw herself onto it face down before she grabbed her pillow and hugged it to her, burying her face in it. It made it much easier to fight the temptation to jump him if she couldn't see him.
Jon entered the room and stood at the foot of Chasity's bed. "I have no idea what's going on with you, but whatever it is, you need to start talking." Chasity cringed at his pissed off tone of voice. Walking to her side of the bed, he planted himself on the edge and yanked the pillow away from Chasity's face. "Now, Chasity," Jon sharply demanded, throwing the pillow far enough across the bed so it was out of her reach. Clearly he wasn't going to let her hide from this.
She hated when Jon was angry. She knew he'd never actually do anything to her, but that didn't make him any less scary when something pissed him off. "I don't know how to tell you, Jon. It could ruin our friendship, and I don't want to do that. We just rekindled it. Destroying it again would kill me, so it's best if I don't tell you."
That response got the wheels turning in Jon's head. "So if you're not seeing anyone new and you're not trying to keep me away from Kaleb, the only other thing I can think is you went back to working at the club. Is that what's going on?" Chasity was surprised by his question.
"What? No!" Jon searched her face looking for any sign of deceit, but he saw nothing.
"Have you switched teams, are you seeing a women now?" Panic was starting to seep through Jon's voice. Chasity was honestly shocked by Jon's questions. What the hell had gotten into his head?
"No, that's not it, either." Jon threw his arms in the air.
"Then what in the fuck is it because I'm really at a loss here. I don't understand how we went from getting closer to each other, to sitting here discussing this. So you need to stay talking." Chasity knew it was time. She had nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. She heaved a huge sigh and went for it.
"I'mattractedtoyou,Jon. That's my problem. I'm…" Chasity spilled so quickly she hadn't even understood herself, so she knew Jon hadn't.
"I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that. You said it way too fast, repeat," Jon said, leaning closer to Chasity.
"I said I'm attracted to you. That's what my problem is. That's why I've been avoiding you."
The look on Jon's face said it all. He was shocked, to say the least. He hadn't been expecting that, but he'd be lying if he said he wasn't attracted to her, too. The odd thing is she's not the typical type he went after. He usually went for the tall, busty, ditzy blonde bombshells who were the 'love 'em and leave 'em' type. Chasity was the complete opposite. She was short, not at all 'busty' and had auburn colored hair, but she was still beautiful in her own right; pregnant or not.
This whole situation made him think back to their high school days and how close they use to get when they were intoxicated. Was that some type of sign they should've picked up on? He couldn't say he remembered their sexual encounters from back then because they usually happened when both were too drunk to remember what day it was, let alone anything that happened in bed between them, but he did know that he never regretted it. Not then and definitely not now.
Jon was snapped out of his reverie when Chasity attempted to shove passed him to get out of the bedroom and away from him again. This time, Jon didn't allow the shock to freeze him as he gently grabbed onto her shoulders and turned her to face him before she could get past him. "Say that again," Jon demanded gently. She shook her head.
"I already said it twice, I don't want to say it again. Please, don't make me," Chasity begged, tears threatening to spill from her eyes. "This is gonna destroy our friendship and everything we've built up to this point. I know it is…," Jon put his finger against her quivering lips, effectively making her go quiet.
"It'll only destroy our friendship and everything we've worked to build up to this point if we let it," Jon told her, removing his finger from her lips. "You know what I was just thinking about after hearing you say that," Jon questioned. Chasity shook her head. "High school. All the drunken encounters we couldn't remember the next day. But despite the fact I couldn't remember any of it, I do know I never regretted it. Maybe that was a sign we missed all those years. I say we give it a shot and see where it leads," Jon confessed.
Chasity was shocked into silence by his confession. She had no idea how to respond, and on top of that she was still worried about losing everything they'd managed to build to this point. And Jon knew it. "Maybe this will only stand to make us stronger; make our friendship, and our relationship stronger, not destroy it. But we won't know unless we try!" Jon released the hold on Chasity's shoulders and grabbed her hands, squeezing. "Let's just try it out and see where this road leads us. After all they say you're supposed to end up with your best friend, right? Maybe that's how this is supposed to end."
After a few more moments of careful contemplation, and Jon squeezing her hands a couple of times to try to encourage her, Chasity finally nodded her head. "Okay, we can give it a shot. But if we start drifting apart or something happens that makes the relationship unsalvageable, we end it immediately. I will not let this destroy our friendship. If being together isn't meant to be, then I want us to at least be friends," Chasity announced. Jon nodded his head and leaned closer to her.
"Deal," he accepted before pressing his lips to hers in a kiss that ultimately sealed their friendship into a new found romantic relationship.
