Previously –
This was going to be a fun ride.
LPOV
As we 3 boarded the plane along with Eddie, Mia and a few other guardians, I suddenly felt scared. Scared because what if –
"Liss" Rose said out loud. Everyone stopped and looked at us, giving us a concerning look. When they realised that we were talking through the bond, everyone carried on with their own business.
Rose came up to and gave me a hug, a comforting one. I hugged her back.
"Liss, it's going to be ok. There is no need to be worried. We'll find him. In one piece. Hopefully" I gave a small chuckle.
"But seriously though, this is Dimitri we are talking about. He's Russian. He can do anything. He's an adult. I'm damn sure he take care of himself". This time we both laughed. We took our seats and waited for the plane to take off.
After around 12 hours, we landed in Novosibirsk, Russia. It was in the evening, so everyone was on alert, ready for anything and everything.
We all exited the airport and went straight to the hotel we would be spending our night at before leaving for Omsk by car. We decided its better to travel in broad daylight than night. Better to be safe than sorry.
RPOV Next Morning
I couldn't exactly figure out what was happening. I was in the adjoining room, which I obviously shared with Lissa and Christian. It was around 3 I woke up. There were muffled voices and footsteps coming from the other side of the divider. Steadily I got out of bed, my stake from under my pillow secured tightly.
I tried to get into Lissa's head, but it just won't work. It was like it was blocked, like she blocked me out on purpose.
I was definitely was not going to go in through the dividers. Luckily, I had a balcony in my room. I opened it enough for me to squeeze through. We were on 5th floor. I could see Lissa's balcony door was open. I looked over the balcony and down to where there seemed to be a commotion. Some people were looking around, somewhere looking up at our floor. The gap between the 2 balconies wasn't much, I think if I tried and jumped high enough, I should be able to jump across, without making any noise.
I stood up steadily on the frame of the balcony, trying to wake up myself and to gain strength.
1,2,3…
And with that, I jumped. My ankle stung a bit, but I got over it. Whoever who was inside, must've heard the commotion that I created. As quickly as I could, I scrambled to my feet and hid behind the door. Because the curtains were drawn it helped me hide from the intruder.
And that's when I felt it. The nausea. My strigoi alarm. The alarm that goes off whenever a strigoi is near. I probably didn't catch it because I was too focused on protecting Lissa.
The strigoi came out on the balcony as I crouched down. He turned around just a bit, but thankfully didn't notice me.
Another strigoi came and stood just behind the balcony doorframe. "Steve, you guard the balcony. We've got the Dragomir and Ozera kid. We will be in 10 minutes". As the strigoi left, he closed the double-doors halfway.
The strigoi, Steve, was leaning against the railings and looking down at the people. I took small steps and without any further-ado, I drove my stake through his heart. Just in time, I covered his mouth with my hand so he doesn't make any noise. I decided against throwing his body 5 floors down.
I lowered him in the chair so he was facing the view. I crouched down just behind the halfway double doors and I was just able to see what was happening in the room.
The first thing I noticed was Lissa. Unconscious. I felt like killing myself. I was her guardian and I let her down. She was strapped to a chair and she looked paler than her normal pale. Deathly pale.
Next to her was the love of her life, Christian Ozera. He however was awake. His blue orbs as large as they could be.
"I can't believe you are doing this. Stop. Trust me, don't you want to be normal again. We've done this before, we can do it again" His eyes pleadingly staring into the strigoi's. Who was it?
"Christian, you have no idea what you are missing out on. Being a strigoi is blissful. It's surreal. Drinking blood is just… wow. It has no words. After I turn you, you'll know just how amazing it is"
The voice. I've heard it somewhere. Where? It's so familiar. I took one look at Christian and a chill ran down my spine.
You're kidding. No way. How? Why? I can't believe a person would go to such lengths. They would become a strigoi.
It was…
