Chapter Twenty Three

It had been about two weeks since Chasity had finally gotten Jon to crack. They had been staying at his apartment together ever since, but today she was back at her own apartment until at least next week because he was headed back out on tour. He told her she could just stay at his place, but she wasn't comfortable with staying there alone just yet, so she decided to head back to her place until he returned again.

She had been dreading today since he informed her about it the previous week. This wasn't like their usual weekly tour. No, thanks to the holidays this week's tour didn't consist of the usual five days on, two days off ritual. Instead this week Jon and the rest of the WWE roster wouldn't be getting any time off until sometime next Friday, which would be December the 20th. They would do their usual weekend house shows followed by taping that week's RAW and Smackdown, but instead of coming home on Wednesday morning like they usually would, WWE had made the schedule so that they would have house shows Friday through Sunday, then the taping for RAW as usual on Monday, followed by taping next week's RAW on Tuesday, and taping this week's Smackdown on Wednesday, and then following that up with this weeks scheduled Smackdown on Thursday. It did make sense. Christmas and New Years were huge holidays, so they did it that way to ensure all their talent got the entire week of Christmas off to spend with their families before doing two house shows in the mid-west and getting the rest of the week off to have more family time for New Years. That didn't make it any easier for Chasity, though.

While Chasity admittedly hated the nightmare of a schedule Jon would have to endure for the upcoming week, she had to admit she couldn't wait for him to have a full week off. It would give them both time to prepare a little better for Kaleb. As of now she felt like nothing was ready for his arrival, and by the time Jon returned from this leg of the WWE tour she would be just about down to the final two months of her pregnancy. She was currently thirty weeks, or six in a half months, so when he got back next week, she'd be one week shy of the 32 week, or seven month mark of pregnancy. With Christmas and New Year's and all the other crap that fell around this time of the year, she knew the final two months would end up flying by; she would be a mother before she knew it, and Jon would be stepping into the vacated 'father' roll even though he wasn't obligated to. She couldn't have been anymore grateful, she just hoped he knew what he was getting himself into this time. She wasn't sure she could deal with another one of the 'meltdowns' like he had earlier in her pregnancy. Not while taking care of a newborn, anyway.

Chasity was snapped from her thoughts when her cell phone pinged, signaling she had a new text message. Grabbing it off the coffee table she saw she had a text from her best friend, and former co-worker, Tara. She hadn't talked to her much since she had left the club with Jon's help a few months ago. She felt bad for pushing her away just because Jon was back in her life. She hadn't intended to do that, but with her pregnancy and then unexpectedly rebuilding her relationship with Jon it kind of just happened. With Jon's pending trip out of town and Tara contacting her now, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to fix the problem.

Upon opening her text Chasity realized Tara was apparently on the same wave length as her because Tara was texting her to see if she was available to meet up for lunch any time this week. Chasity smiled and quickly responded telling Tara she was free all week, so lunch whenever she was free sounded like a great idea.

Chasity was so lost in her current text conversation with Tara she never even heard Jon knocking, or opening her front door with the spare key she had given him to use in the case of an emergency. She had also forgotten he was even coming over before he had to leave for the airport because she had told him she would take him there and drop him off to say goodbye.

When Chasity failed to answer the door after his third knock, Jon panicked a bit and used the key she'd provided him with to get into the apartment. Throwing the door open once it was unlocked, Jon rushed through the threshold of the door, but came to an immediate halt when he saw her sitting on the sofa, safe and sound. "What the hell, Chas," Jon shouted, scaring the hell out of her.

Chasity jumped at Jon's loud outburst causing her phone to fall out of her hand. Not realizing Jon had knocked three times before using the key, Chasity grew annoyed. "I think I should be asking you that. I gave you that key to use in case of emergencies, Jon," Chasity said, clearly annoying. "Not so that you could use it whenever the hell you felt like it. We're not ready for the 'walk in when you please' phase in our relationship yet," Chasity vented. Now Jon was angry; his beat red face and angry expression did a good job of proving that.

"So you have no problem with me sleeping beside you, or seeing you naked, but God forbid I walk into your apartment without your permission," he spit, the anger evident in his voice now, too. "Don't worry, I wasn't entering without your approval because I wanted to. I actually believed this was an emergency because I knocked three different times and you didn't answer the damn door. So contrary to what you believe, I thought you were in real trouble and this was an emergency," Jon seethed, slipping the key from his key ring and showing it to her. "You also don't have to worry about me entering your apartment without your permission anymore. Here's your damn key," he told her, slapping it down against the table that she had sitting right inside her front door. "If this is going to be how you react when I use it, then I don't want it anymore."

Chasity's anger quickly dissolved to worry as she saw how angry and concerned Jon truly was. "No, don't do that, Jon. Put the key back on your key ring," she told him, calmly, trying to keep the situation from escalating any further. "I'm sorry, I never heard you knock. I guess I was too wrapped up in my conversation with Tara. I haven't really seen her since I quit the club, so we were setting up a lunch meeting for while you're out on this leg of the tour," Chasity explained, struggling to push herself to her feet.

Jon watched Chasity struggle for a couple minutes before finally walking over and putting his hands out. Chasity stopped struggling and placed her hands in his as he gently squeezed her hands and effortlessly tugged her to her feet. Chasity gave him a sheepish smile. "Thanks," she whispered. He gave a curt nod and released her hands, stepping back away from her again. Sighing she walked over and picked up the previously discarded key before turning back in his direction. "I know you're upset with me, but I said I was sorry. I got lost in my conversation. It wasn't intentional, and I didn't mean to scare you, or make you think I was in trouble" she explained. "And I understand you weren't using the key just because you felt like it, and I won't react like this every time you use it, so please put it back on your key ring," she asked, holding the loose key out toward him in the palm of her hand.

Jon knew he was being a little unreasonable when he ripped the key off and slammed it on the table, but he had a ton of emotions running through his mind; anger is just the one he finds easiest to display. Sighing he took the key from her outstretched hand and slipped it back onto his key ring before gripping her wrist and pulling her into a tight hug. "I know you didn't do it to intentionally scare me, or make me think there was anything wrong when there wasn't, but you know how I am with my emotions," Jon said, pulling out of the hug and tilting her chin upward so she was looking directly at him. "When you didn't answer my heart leaped into my throat. Every bad scenario that was remotely possible ran through my head as I was digging my keys out of my pocket to use the spare. When I came in and saw you playing with your phone a whole new batch of emotions ran through me," Jon explained. "I was relieved because you were okay, angry because I thought I was being ignored, and yet, at the same time, I was happy because it also meant Kaleb was okay," he informed her, as he tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "But the anger is the one that I was able to voice easiest. That's just the emotion I find easiest to put on display. It's a bad habit that I'm really trying hard to break," Jon told her, pulling her into another tight hug. "For that, I apologize," Jon confessed.

Chasity wanted to be mad at him, but she couldn't. While he was being a jerk he was being a caring jerk, and he did admit he was in the wrong for getting angry like he had, and for that she couldn't be mad at him; not to mention, she wasn't completely innocent in this situation, either. She had accused him unnecessarily when she jumped to a conclusion she shouldn't have, so she had no right to be mad, even if she really wanted to be. "I want to be mad at you, I really do, but I can't because I know you only did it because you absolutely care about Kaleb and myself," Chasity leaned back away from him a little bit, so she could look him directly in the eyes. "And I also realize I was in the wrong, too. I shouldn't have been so quick to accuse you of something without having any proof and being absolutely positive," Chasity confessed. "And for that, I apologize. But I do have to wonder why you didn't call or text me before using your key," Chasity couldn't help but question.

Jon had never even thought of trying to call or text her before using his key. He had gone into panic mode and only thought of the key and getting into the apartment to check on her. Jon shook his head. "In all honesty, I never even thought of calling or texting you. When you didn't answer the door my first thought was that you were in trouble, and using the key was the only way to get to you as quick as possible." Chasity nodded.

"Okay, fair enough," She admitted. "What time is your flight," she questioned, changing the subject completely as she squatted down to grab her phone off the floor where it had landed when she dropped it. "I'm surprised I can squat that low anymore with my belly in the way," Chasity joked, as she stood up and straightened herself back up. "Anyway, your flight?" Jon chuckled at her.

"I have to be at the airport in an hour. Are you still going to drop me off," he questioned as he wrapped his arms loosely around her waist from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder. Jon had let the subject be changed pretty easily, which was another different attribute for him, but Chasity wasn't going to mention it. As much as she was dreading him leaving she knew if she didn't see him off she'd end up regretting it later.

"Yeah, I'll still take you. But I have to go shower and get ready." Jon nodded as Chasity slipped back out of his arms, but before she could get too far Jon grabbed her wrist gently and tugged her back, placing a kiss against her lips. After a couple minutes, Chasity finally pulled away making Jon release her. "As much as I'd love to continue this, I really need to go shower and get dressed before you miss your flight," she said walking in the direction of her bedroom. Jon thought about following her and continuing their escapades in the shower, but in the end he knew it was a bad idea. He needed to catch his flight on time, or he was going to be in big trouble. Sighing, he plopped down on the sofa to wait for her to finish getting ready so they could head to the airport.

Author's Note: So they had their first argument as an official couple. Fairly minor, but still an argument, and they seemed to have survived it. Now they face their next challenge as a couple; also another "first": extended time apart due to Jon being a WWE Superstar. Think they can survive it?
