What's up y'all!? I hope you're all still hanging with me! And once again, my lemons appear to be fairly popular, don't they? Well, there won't be anymore lemons in this story, but there will be fights. So, I hope y'all enjoy and continue reading the next two chapters!
I continued running over my battle with Adam, trying to think of ways to counter his high speed swordsmanship. Had I thought about my semblance? Obviously. Only, I didn't want to expose myself. Not yet, anyway.
But they already know who I am…do I really want to keep my semblance a secret?
"Hey, Delta."
I looked up and turned around, spotting Jaune walking up to me. With a grunt, I stood up, greeting my fellow swordsman as he said, "So from what I hear, that guy you fought must be really strong."
"He is," I replied, "probably one of the strongest I've ever fought."
"Oh," he said in what sounded like a down mood, "So then…I'll probably be useless in a fight like that then?"
"Jaune," I said back to him, "Don't ever say you're useless."
"Huh?"
"We all have something that others strive to have," I replied, reaching up and placing a hand on his shoulder, "Trust me; when I first started out, I was a lot worse than you."
"What? No way," Jaune replied in disbelief.
"Yes way," I replied, turning back around to sit down. He followed suit, sitting down next to me as I sighed, looking down on the many people below. Closing my eyes, I then said, "Jaune…you were the first person at Beacon that befriended Ruby…thank you for that."
"Huh? Oh, no problem," Jaune replied as I opened my eyes again.
"…You know," I then stated, "You're lucky to have someone like Pyrrah."
"H-huh?"
I turned my face to face his.
"I never had anyone push me like she does to you. Well, actually I sorta did, but I didn't have someone to physically push my limits," I explained, "Pyrrah is someone that you should cherish and thank after everything's all said and done."
"O-oh," he replied, "Yeah…I've been meaning to give her a proper thank you."
"Not to mention she's a dominatrix in bed," I then said, shooting him a sly look. Jaune opened his mouth to say something, but then froze, causing me to laugh hysterically. His face turned red as he turned away and said, "Please forget that! If Pyrrah were to find out…!"
"Oh, don't worry," I replied, "As long as you keep yours and Pyrrah's mouth shut about Ruby and I."
"A-alright," he replied nervously, seemingly flinching at the knowledge of me pointing one of my swords at his head in a threatening fashion.
I sighed, trying to keep the sound of the DJ out of my mind as I tried to locate anything out of the normal. I could hear Lima growling behind me at the sound of music playing as I heard the DJ yell, "LET'S KICK THINGS UP A BIT!"
The crowd roared as he began mixing up the discs.
I sighed again, shaking my head as I turned back to Lima and asked, "Anything out of the normal, partner?"
Lima shook her head, still growling at the sound of blaring music.
"…Can't…hear…," she growled, slipping on a hoodie, immediately pulling the hood over her head. I chuckled at the somewhat cute gesture, but given the seriousness of the situation, I returned to my vigil, scanning the area left, then right, then left again.
…this is ridiculous….
With a sigh, I reached up to my ear and pressed the button on my earpiece and asked, "You guys getting anything?"
"Nope," Sierra replied over the earpiece.
Grimacing, I put my hands in my pockets as I sat down, staring down at the building with the strobe lights flashing in and out of the windows.
I wonder if they're having fun in there.
I suddenly felt depression wash over me, immediately thinking of Ruby, who had been dragged to the dance against her will by Yang.
Stop it. Focus.
Shaking the thought from my head, I immediately turned back to Lima, who had her back towards me. Smiling, I turned back to my original vigil, trailing my eyes upwards to stare at the moon. Sighing again, I smiled as I could mentally see Ruby smiling at me while shoving another guy who wanted a dance away.
"…Delta…," Lima said, catching my attention. Turning around, I could see her ears perked up. I raised an eyebrow in curiosity as she said, "…Choppers…."
I furrowed my brow, then turned back around, spotting several dark lines streaking against the moon's shine.
"Sierra," I said, turning on my earpiece, "We've got choppers airborne."
"Roger that," she stated, "I'll take Lima and Hotel. Delta, you stay and make sure nothing goes wrong here."
"Roger that," I replied, albeit hesitantly.
Why does she want me staying behind?
"…Delta…."
I turned around yet again, only to feel Lima peck my cheek. I blushed as she smiled at me, her ears wagging slightly as she turned and ran the opposite direction.
"Hehe," I chuckled, "See you later, partner."
I continued sitting at my vigil, scanning the area.
…Still nothing from them….
It had been a full half-hour since Lima had taken off. I fought against the urge to ask them what was taking them so long; last thing I needed was to get an ear full from Sierra about my impatience. But there was something that seemed off. Even if I weren't with them, it still wouldn't take this long to go for a scout job.
…What the fuck, this is taking too long.
I stood up, finally having lost my patience, only to hear a voice behind me ask, "Shouldn't you be enjoying the festivities?"
I turned around, seeing a lady with crimson red hair and eyes with a mask on. She stood around my height with a red waist jacket. A black shirt covered the rest of her upper body, as well as black pants and boots as she approached me. I immediately took notice of the extra bracing in her boots, eyeing them suspiciously as I said back, "I could be asking you the same…."
"Well," the lady replied, "I was just…."
Suddenly, she bit her finger, catching me off guard as she stated, "Enjoying the VIEW!"
She then jumped up into the sky, causing me to reflexively draw my swords as she landed, kicking the ground in front of me, making a large explosion, throwing me off the roof of the building. I gawked in surprise at the force she kicked the building at as I readjusted my body, landing on a stray piece of debris, jumping off quickly as it hit the ground. Grimacing, I looked back up, only to see a heel headed straight down at me. I quickly leaned to the right, feeling the wind behind the kick brush down from my shirt as the zipper on my hoodie snapped open. I could also hear my earpiece buzz.
"Tch," I spat, rolling out of the way as the girl spun her other leg around for a crescent kick. Standing back up, she grinned at me as I threw the earpiece away, holding my swords up. She turned her body back towards me as she said, "My my, you're a quick one, aren't you?"
"You could say that," I replied.
The lady then charged me again, spinning for a spin kick. I spun myself, hitting the hilt of my right sword against her heel. I then followed up with a stab with my left sword, whiffing as she kicked off the hilt of my right sword, spinning on her hands as she sent another kick towards my head. I simply ducked under it, swinging my sword at her again. However, she then swung her body so that she was on her hands and feet, going just under my blade as she then jumped back.
"Not just quick," she stated, "But fast as well!"
"I'll take that as a compliment," I replied, watching her as she stood back up. I kept a wary eye as she began tapping her foot against the ground, a grin plastered on her face. I narrowed my gaze as she said, "No wonder Adam couldn't get a grip on you…."
!?
Suddenly, I felt a kick on my sternum, getting sent backwards as I felt what felt like glass break behind me, causing me to let out a choke of pain. I could then hear the startled screams of people around me as I spun back to my feet, instinctively deflecting away several more kicks. Gritting my teeth, the girl continued with her grin, only to glance upwards and kick off of me as I saw Yang's fist land in front of me, causing the area to ripple. Just then, I saw Ruby fly forward with Crescent Rose drawn, suddenly getting kicked backwards. I then followed up, synching with Crescent Rose, ripping it out of Ruby's hands as I followed up with a horizontal slash, stopping it with my sword, then fired a round backwards as I tackled the lady back outside.
Regaining my footing, I breathed out, "Good grief…."
The lady let out a chuckle, then stood back up, her crimson eyes locking squarely back onto me. I returned the sharp gaze, only to hear Ruby yell, "Delta!"
The lady then grit her teeth, then said, "I'll be taking my leave now…."
She then turned around, only to stop as she said, "By the way…tell dear Sierra that it's not over."
Huh?
"Wait, what?"
The lady then grinned, then jumped, leaving a crater behind.
"Wait!"
I made to chase her, only to immediately lose her as Ruby caught up to me and said, "Where'd she go?"
"Forget it, Rubes," I replied, handing back Crescent Rose. Ruby sighed, taking her weapon back as I immediately felt eyes on me. Lots of eyes.
"Oh," I breathed out, "For the love of…."
Turning around, I looked at everyone who was just in the dance hall all staring at me. I sighed, about to apologize before my mom's voice said, "Nothing to see here, kids! Get back to your previous activities! C'mon you brats, get going!"
