Chapter Twenty Nine

Chasity had made it to week thirty-five without any major issues. She had a couple of contractions off and on, but nothing that made her panic and rush to the hospital over. However, it was enough to tell her she would definitely be on bed rest until Kaleb was able to be delivered safely and healthy. She had to keep reminding herself, despite how boring this situation was, that it was necessary. Only a couple more weeks and Kaleb would be in the clear if she was to go into labor again.

The closer they got to the "safe" zone, the more the thought of going into actual labor scared her. With the preterm labor, there was never any actual contractions of pain; just blood. Blood that was still a mystery to everyone. She was afraid something was going to go wrong during the delivery and she'd end up planning a funeral instead of a coming home party. When she'd expressed these fears to Doctor Mitchel at her last visit, she had gave her a sympathetic smile and told her it was totally normal for these types of worries this late in the pregnancy. Chasity thought she was insane. How can it be "totally normal" to think your child was going to die at birth? That's not normal; that's a nightmare come to life!

Of course, Chasity had made the stupid mistake of expressing her fears to Jon, and now every time he was away he would text her to see how she was and if Kaleb was moving. He did keep to his promise, though. He was only texting her every four or five hours and calling every morning and night while on the road, and Chasity liked it that way. It gave her the space she wanted, yet it also allowed Jon to know what was going on at all times. Perfectly blended.

Tara was still come over to Jon's apartment; where she'd been staying more and more, to keep her company while Jon was away. She was beginning to think it would make more sense to just give up her apartment. She was never there and it was only a one bedroom, compared to Jon's two bed room. She felt at home at his place. Whether he was there, or Tara was there, it felt more like home than her apartment did. She'd have to talk to Jon about giving up her apartment and officially moving in to his with him. Hopefully it wouldn't send him into another of his freak out modes.

Today felt different than all the other days she'd been on bed rest so far. Chasity wasn't sure why, but there was definitely something different, and she wasn't sure if it was a good or a bad different yet. Jon was home today for the first time in two weeks, so she was hoping that was why it felt different, but she couldn't be sure.

As if on cue, Jon entered the bed room and threw his jacket on the top of the bassinet that he had set up beside Chasity's side of the bed not that long ago. Looking at the bassinet, Chasity frowned. "You know, that, the car seat and stroller are literally the only items we have for Kaleb. Well, aside from a few outfits I picked up while I was in Babies R Us making the registry a few months ago," Chasity questioned. She sounded so defeated. Jon hated it, but he couldn't give away the secret. Tara and Donna would kill him, so he just shrugged it off.

"We'll survive. If worse comes to worse, as he grows closer to outgrowing the bassinet I'll go and buy his crib for the nursery," Jon covered. Chasity didn't like that answer at all.

"So you expect me to raise him with a bassinet, four outfits, a car seat and a stroller? And where in the hell am I going to give him a bath, or entertain him when he gets a little older and is bored," Chasity snapped. "Or hell, what about feeding him? How do I do that with no bottles or formula," she shrieked. Jon knew this was one of her mood swings she'd been having lately, but he couldn't tell her what was going on. So he'd just have to take the tongue lashing because in the long run, it would be worth it. And she'd probably feel so bad for snapping at him that she'd treat him like a king for the next few days; well, as much as she could in her bed ridden state.

"Relax Chas, it'll work out. I promise," he exclaimed. Chasity folded her arms across her chest and sulked as Jon pulled his t-shirt over his head. "I'm gonna go take a shower, then I'm gonna help you down to the lobby for a bit. Perhaps a change of scenery will help change your sour mood," Jon called over his shoulder as he went into the bathroom.

Due to having his back to her, he had missed the open mouthed death glare Chasity shot at the back of his head. She couldn't believe he was acting like it didn't matter that Kaleb having next to nothing was no big deal. You cannot raise a child with no supplies. So much for the baby shower she had envisioned when she decided she was keeping the baby, and then again when she had found out he was a boy. Laying her hand on her stomach as Kaleb moved softly beneath it she mumbled "You're not even biologically his child, and yet, somehow, you can be just as pushy or stubborn as he can be. How does that even work?"

While Chasity was having her meltdown and freaking out at Jon over having nothing for Kaleb, Tara and Donna was downstairs in the lobby with a bunch of Chasity's friends that she knew from the club. None of them were super close with Chasity, but they were close enough to agree to help throw her a baby shower. Somehow, even Joe and Galina and Colby and Leighla – who hadn't even met Chasity yet – had wound up there. Had to have been a Jon invite. After all, Jon had been the one to run the idea of the baby shower in the lobby by Donna before the invites officially went out. After hearing about Chasity's per-term labor scare and the bed rest was now on because of it, Donna Okayed the idea without a second thought. She also asked if she could help Tara set it up; Tara, of course, agreed. She could use all the help she could get.

Tara and Donna only had about three hours to fix the lobby up and make it look like a baby shower belonged there. Jon had come down to throw out the trash almost an hour ago – or at least that's what Chasity thought he was doing; the trash was just a decoy – in reality he came down to warn them he'd be bringing her down in roughly forty-five minutes. They were just about ready, except for putting the cake out on the dessert table and hanging the "It's a boy" banner over the entrance door way. The sofa Chasity would be sitting on had two blue baby blankets on each cushion, with 'it's a boy' and plain blue balloons one each side of the sofa. Baby blue and light green streamers ran from one corner of the room to the other in four different directions. The tables had baby blue table clothes with 'it's a boy' written multiple times in various places and center pieces that were shaped like storks carrying a baby blue bundle.

Making sure the 'It's a boy' banner was hung straight both ladies walked into the little kitchenette that was located next to Donna's office and each grabbed an end of the cake tray and slowly walked it out to the dessert table. The cake had a fairly large blue rattle surrounded by a teddy bear, bottle and pacifier, and in the center of the rattle Tara had the bakery write "K.J.G." and below the picture of the rattle and other baby items it said "Is on his way!" She was initially going to have them put the baby's name, but then a game idea came to mind, so she did his initials instead. It was written in blue and white icing. In addition to the cake, they had a tray of cupcakes with blue and white icing that had pacifiers, bottles, teddy bears, rattles and the baby's initials that matched the cake, as well as cookies, white fudge covered pretzels – which were covered in dipped in blue food coloring to make sure they matched the 'boy' theme the party had – and other random sweets.

"I think we're all set," Donna said, eying the room to make sure they didn't miss anything. "Decorations are complete, desserts are all out and set up, presents are on the table closest to the sofa she'll be sitting on, and the party favors are all in a bag by the door, so people can collect them as they leave. Nothing more we can do." Tara nodded in agreement as she watched the last of Chasity and her friends walk in.

"Hey girls, you can place the gifts over there," Tara said, directing them to the designated table. "Jon should be bringing her down any minute now."

"Do you think surprising her with this is a good idea? I mean, she's high risk, right? What if we surprise her so much she goes into labor again," one of the girls they worked with at the club – Michelle – asked.

"No, I think she'll be able to handle this. I've been with her almost every day for the last month and she's done well with surprises," Tara said. "One day while she was napping, Jon managed to get the baby's nursery painted, and the next day, after he was sure it was void of the 'new paint' smell, he took her in to see it. She was stunned, but thrilled at the same time," she informed them as her phone buzzed in her hand, notifying her of a text. Unlocking her screen quickly she saw Jon's 'warning' text. "Alright girls, he's bringing her down now, so shhh," Tara called, getting everyone in the room to quiet down.

"I don't understand why you want to take me down to the lobby so bad. There's nothing down there," Chasity argued as Jon walked her out the door.

"Sure there is. There's a change of scenery. You've been in our room for three weeks straight now, you need a change of scenery. You can sit on the sofa for a while and talk to Donna; people watch as you watch people walk down the street; get some fresh air when the door gets opened," Jon said as he pressed the 'down' button on the elevator. "It'll be good for you, trust me."

Chasity didn't like the idea of randomly sitting in the lobby, but perhaps Jon was right, maybe it would be good for her. She had been in their room – yes, she caught the fact he said 'our' instead of 'my' – for an awful long time. She was hoping that meant he wouldn't freak when she brought the idea of permanently living together up to him later.

Jon helped her onto the elevator and followed her on as he hit the button for the lobby. This party wasn't even for him; he wasn't even going to be staying – him, Colby and Joe were coming back up to the apartment to hang until it was over – yet he was excited about it. Probably because he knew it would brighten Chasity's day; maybe even her month. She'd get to see some of the girls she use to work with, but hadn't seen since she left the club all those months ago, and it would put her mind at ease over having nothing to raise Kaleb with. They were essentially killing two birds with one stone.

As soon as the elevator doors opened and the girls all yelled surprise Chasity's mouth went agape and tears immediately filled her eyes. Jon stood behind her, arms wrapped loosely around her waist, chin resting on her shoulder. "See, no need to worry about having nothing to care for Kaleb with. I told you it would work itself out," Jon whispered in her ear, a smirk evident on his face.

Chasity was speechless as the girls all walked up to her one by one to give her hugs and congratulate her. She couldn't even get out a measly thank you she was so speechless. Once the girls had all hugged and congratulated her, and Jon had introduced her to Galina, Joe, Leighla and Colby, he walked her over to the sofa and helped her get situated. "Alright, I'm gonna go back upstairs with Joe and Colby. I'll be back down to get you and all the goodies in a few hours," he told her, quickly kissing her. He pulled back and went to turn in Colby and Joe's direction, but he didn't get far as Chasity latched onto his hand and tugged him back toward her. Motioning for him to lean down, she placed a chaste kiss of her own on his lips.

"Thanks," she mumbled. Jon chuckled.

"Don't thank me, thank them. All I did was get the idea Okayed by Donna and invite Galina and Leighla, so you'd finally get to meet a couple of my best friends," Jon said, winking at her. "Enjoy the day out of bed, and have as much fun as possible. But you know the rule. Just because you're not in bed doesn't mean you can walk about freely. No getting up unless you absolutely have to," Jon reminded her. Chasity nodded.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. I'll stay here and get one of the girl's to help if I need anything," she smiled.

"Good. I'll be back in a few hours," she said, giving her one last quick kiss before leading Joe and Colby back up to his apartment for some 'guy time' while the girls spent time talking about baby's and girly things.

After the group had played a couple of games, such as the 'baby clothes pin' game – where you're not allowed to say the word 'baby' and if you do, whoever catches you gets to take your clothes pin from you, and whoever ends up with the most clothes pins at the end of the game wins. Then there was the 'guess the baby food' game – where you take jars of baby food, peel off their labels and make the guests guess what flavor baby food it is – there was no winner for this game, it was just for fun. Tara even got the girls to play 'guess the mother's weight' game. Chasity detested this one, and didn't know who had won because she wasn't paying attention to any of the girl's guesses.

Her favorite game by far, though, was the 'guess the baby's name' game. They all knew his initials, thanks to the cake, but the only one that actually knew his full name was Tara.

"So, his initials are K.J.G. Well, I'm gonna guess the "G" stands for Gains, but I have no idea what the K and J are," Chasity's friend from the club, Sarah, said. Chasity shook her head, but didn't straight up tell her she was wrong.

"Does the K stand for Kevin," her other friend from the club, Kayla asked. Chasity laughed.

"No, it doesn't stand for Kevin."

"I know what the "G" stands for," Galina smirked. "I think I even know what the "J" stands for, but I'm not giving anything away until everyone's guesses are in." She and Chasity laughed at the groans. "I will admit I have not the slightest idea what the "K" stands for, though," she admitted.

Once all the girls had written down their guesses on little folded pieces of paper Tara had handed out, Chasity took each one and opened it to read them.

"Well, despite the fact I said Kevin was wrong, Kayla still put Kevin as the first name," Chasity chuckled. "No, Jason isn't his middle name, Kayla. And because I know it's likely going to be on nearly every piece of paper I'm going to open and read, I'll tell you now that Gains is not his last name." All the girls groaned.

After reading all of the papers that consisted of names like 'Kevin Jason' and 'Kasey Jaxson' as well as 'Kristopher Jacob' Chasity finally opened up Galina's and smiled. "How can it be one of the girls that knows me least gets his middle and last name right," Chasity chuckled.

"That had to be pure luck," Sabrina called out. "But now that we know someone got part of his name right, what is it?"

"Hold on, I still haven't opened Leighla's guess," Chasity said unfolding the last piece of paper. Once again she chuckled. "Well, nobody got his first name, but Galina and Leighla got his middle and last names. Glaina's first name guess was Karson; Leighla's was Kayson," Chasity revealed. "Although, I do have to wonder if they cheated. Have you two talked with Joe and Colby? They're they only other two, besides Tara, that know the baby's full name." Galina shook her head.

"If I had talked to Joe, don't you think I'd have gotten his first name right, too?" Chasity shrugged.

"That is a good and fair point."

"No, I didn't talk to Colby, I just put two and two together," Leighla laughed.

"Well, come on now, stop keeping the rest of us in suspense. What's his name going to be?" Chasity chuckled.

"K.J.G stands for Kaleb Jonathan Good. We're sort of naming him after his daddy," Chasity revealed as all the girl's awed at his name and reigns of 'that's adorable' and 'that's so sweet' reigned from within the group.

But there would always be that one person that had to spoil the fun, right?

"But Jon's not really his father, is he?" Chasity's happiness had taken a hit with that simple question. Glaring at Catalina – another of the girls she use to work with at the club that she had been friendly with – spoke from the middle of the group of girls. She had never truly been 'friends' with Catalina, but they were friendly enough for her to get an invite today. But apparently, that was a mistake. Tara elbowed her in the chest as if to say 'seriously?! You're an idiot!'

"No, he's not, but he's going to be Kaleb's father because his biological father is a jackass who was forced on me the night I conceived," Chasity said. Catalina smirked.

"Are you claiming you were raped? Is that the card you're trying to pull here?"

Chasity was getting more agitated by this bitch little by little. "I never once said I was raped. That phrase never once left my mouth."

"You said the baby's biological father was "forced" on you," Catalina said, air quoting the word forced. "How is that not rape," she questioned, pushing Chasity's buttons even more and causing her to choke back tears.

"That's enough," Donna shouted, seeing the turmoil in Chasity's eyes. She didn't want to relive any of this; especially not at her baby shower, but this bitch just wouldn't let it go. So much for a nice baby shower and hanging with friends she hadn't seen in a while.

Chasity had heard Donna, but she couldn't ignore this anymore. These girls deserved to know what a jackass their boss was. "It wasn't rape because while I knew it was a bad idea, and as much as I didn't want to do it, I did it willingly. I was being threatened with my job by my boss if I didn't do it. I couldn't afford to lose my job at the time, so I felt it was my only choice at the time," Chasity confessed. "If not for Jon coming back into my life when he did, I'd probably still be there doing all this degrading shit that I'm not proud of," Chasity admitted as the tears she had been trying to hold back finally came pouring down her face.

As Galina watched the altercation transpire she quietly pulled out her phone and quickly texted Joe telling him to get Jon down here ASAP because one of the girl's that had been invited decided to pick a verbal fight with Chasity. Unbeknownst to any of the other girls, Joe had told Jon and they – along with Colby – quickly rushed down to the lobby and walked in just as the tears began to pour down Chasity's face.

"So you're trying to tell us Mr. Smith forced this guy on you? Are you serious?" Before Chasity could respond a pissed off and red faced Jon stepped in front of her, blocking her previous view of Catalina.

"Get the hell out of my apartment complex now before I completely lose it." She laughed at him.

"You don't scare me. If you touch me, you go to jail, and that puts your career at risk," Catalina said smugly. "You love wrestling too much to risk it. You said so yourself. You told the whole world wrestling doesn't owe you, YOU owe wrestling."

"Maybe he doesn't, but we should," Galina said, as she, Tara, Leighla and Donna all stepped up beside Jon. They'd heard enough from this bitch.

"What you're doing is uncalled for. Chasity doesn't deserve to have her baby shower ruined by a bitch like you. Now, do what Jon just told you and leave, before the four of us personally remove you," Tara said, clear venom dripping from her voice. She felt this was partly her fault for inviting Catalina in the first place.

Turning on her heal and flinging her hair back over her shoulder as if to say she was better than everyone else there, Catalina left the building. Jon watched her exit the building and after he was sure she was definitely gone, he turned toward Chasity. Seeing the tear streaks staining her face broke his heart. Walking over he pulled her into his arms and wrapped her in a tight hug. "It's okay. I'm not sure exactly what all was said, but I can tell you just from my short encounter with her, she's a complete bitch," he said, rubbing his hand softly up and down her back trying to calm her down. "You really need to calm down. If not for yourself, than for Kaleb," Jon whispered in her ear as he continued to rub his hand soothingly up and down her back.

Listening to his words, Chasity began to take slow, steady, deep breaths to get herself calmed down. She knew he was right. She couldn't be all worked up; especially not in her condition. Anything could easily trigger her labor again and she wasn't ready to welcome Kaleb into the world yet; it was still too early.

"You ready to open your presents and cut the cake," Tara asked. Chasity continued to hug Jon and shrugged. Jon kissed her temple and tugged her to her feet before pulling her back down to sit in his lap.

"Come on, I'll help you open all the presents. Then we can eat cake and then head upstairs, where we'll attempt to figure out where to put all this stuff," Jon said glancing around the room.

Jon kept his word. She sat in his lap as he helped her open all her present and then Tara and Donna brought the cake over and he helped her cut it into pieces for everyone to have a slice. They conversed with a few other people around the party before Joe and Colby helped Jon carry all the new baby things – from the bouncy seat to the swing to the diaper bag and bath tub, as well as bottles and a few pacifiers – up to the apartment. They placed a large majority of it into what would eventually be Kaleb's nursery, and left the rest in the corner of the living room for the time being. Looking around the apartment, Jon shook his head. "Never thought I'd see the day where my place was covered in baby paraphernalia. This feels so weird, yet it feels so right." Joe laughed.

"It'll continue to look weird until Kaleb is actually here and using it. Let's go get our women," he said, throwing his an arm around Jon and Colby and leading them back down to the lobby, where Tara, Galina, Chasity and Leighla were all conversing with Donna and trying to get the lobby back to looking like a lobby. Well, Tara, Galina and Leighla were; Chasity was just conversing while watching somewhat helplessly from the sofa she'd been sitting on since the shower had started.

Once the lobby was restored to order, and Joe, Galina, Colby and Leighla had left Jon helped Chasity back up to their apartment. He was tired, he could tell she was tired, so he quickly helped her get into her pajamas before getting into his own. Then they both fell into bed beside each other and cuddled up before falling fast asleep. The events of the day had totally exhausted them, but they – especially Chasity – would sleep much better knowing that Kaleb would have everything he needed, both emotionally and physically.

Author's Note: I wasn't even initially thinking of doing a baby shower, but as I started typing, this idea just popped into my head and I just ran with it. The cake idea was slightly inspired by google images. I didn't come up with that idea on my own; however, the cup cake icing idea was mine. But anyway, if this chapter sucked, it was literally thrown together in the matter of the hour it took me to type and then proof read it. lol Oh and, as of now, I'm not sure if the Catalina character will make another appearance or not. We'll have to see what my brain decides to cook up. Haha. ;)
