Interrogation

As the last rays of evening light faded over the tree-lined horizon Shizuka found herself relaxing in the dining room awaiting the return of Ichiru and Zero. She sat reclined in a chair next to the window, the cup of tea resting in her hands had long since grown cold but she didn't care, she merely continued to gaze out the window; admiring how the last rays of evening light reflected through the fragile petals of the blooming sakura trees that lined the path leading to the house.

The open window allowed a refreshing breeze to drift into the room; she closed her eyes as the cool evening air flowed about her bringing with it the fresh scent of flowers. As she sat there, staring out the window surrounded by a comfortable silence; she couldn't stop her mind from wondering at what her life had become. The last four years had been so peaceful; it was actually strange for her to think of the time she had spent practically confined behind the barrier that surrounded the Kiryu mansion in this way, after her years of imprisonment by the council in that gilded cage for her so-called protection; the truth, in these last four years she had felt far more alive than in any of her centuries of life.

Although she was forced to remain within the barrier to prevent those who sought her from being able to find her, she was not a prisoner and for the last four years she had not been idle.

Though she had not been able to leave the barrier the twins could.

The simple thought of those two boys brought a smile to Shizuka's lips, in the dark light of evening; with her slightly glowing eyes and starlit hair drifting behind her in the breeze the smile almost looked sinister…almost.

In four short years both boys had grown in skill and beauty; surpassing any expectations and limits Shizuka had set upon them when they had first crossed her path. Their growth had only been aided by the training provided by the former Hunter Kaien Cross. Though she would never admit it out loud she had to thank Kaname for that one.

A glint of silver drew Shizuka's attention back to the tree-lined road.

The twins had returned and they had not come alone.

Rising from her seat Shizuka made her way through the empty halls, the light swish of the black silk shirt and white Thai pants she wore as well as the jingle of the bell attached to the sash wrapped around her waist being the only sound to follow her. Stopping at the top of the stairs that led down into the entrance hall she leaned against the banister, resting her elbows on the rail she placed her chin on her folded hands and stared at the front door as she patiently waited for it to open.

Moments later the two boys entered; Zero walking slightly behind Ichiru with an unconscious red-head covered in seals ungraciously slung over his shoulder. As soon as they entered they could feel her eyes upon them, stopping Ichiru lifted his gaze to meet hers while Zero unceremoniously dumped their guest at the foot of the stairs.

The impact with the floor seemed to jar the red-head back to consciousness as a muffled gasp of pain escaped past the seal covering his mouth followed by a series of strained coughs as he tried to recover the air that had been knocked out of him.

Not wishing to waste time Shizuka lunges over the banister and almost glides down to the floor, her bare feet making barely a whisper of sound as they touch the cold marble floor. She lands just in front of the twins and only has to take one step forward in order to draw them both into a loose hug.

"Okaeri" both twins relax slightly in her gentle hold but Zero soon backs away as Ichiru clasps her hand in his own and whispers a small reply "Tadaima."

"Did you have fun?" Ichiru narrows his eyes playfully at her slightly patronising tone; he casts a knowing look back at his brother who simply shrugs while having trouble concealing the smirk that is playing across his lips.

"We thought you said it would be a difficult assignment?" She can see that he is trying hard not to laugh "Cross san's last basic training session proved harder than today. Right Ichiru."

Ichiru turns back to face Zero as he answers; "no kidding, they couldn't even scratch us."

She feigns a look of disbelief "really? If that's the case perhaps I will have to tell Cross san to take it easy for a little while, I can't have you two getting hurt from simple training."

The exact same look of horror flits across the twins faces as she says this.

"NO!" their simultaneous cry is both desperate and horrified as they gaze at her with pleading eyes, "you'll only make him worse" Zero all but groans as he covers his eyes; looking as though he is trying to repress a less than happy memory.

Suppressing a laugh Shizuka steps back as she quickly assesses both twins, as Ichiru said neither of them has sustained even a scratch; the only hint that they have just returned from eradicating a host of some four hundred level E's being the layers of dust and ash that stubbornly clings to their clothes.

Satisfied she finally turns her full attention to the prone form that rests before her.

His red hair and fine clothes are in disarray, blood and dust can easily be seen coating his clothes where seals do not cover it, but his most notable feature is the haunted look of terror that swims in his ice blue eyes as he follows her every movement.

Kneeling down beside him she gently brushes some of his red hair from his forehead, she is sure he would flinch at her action if he could. "Ichiru let him speak" her words barely break above a whisper but immediately the seal that was covering the vampires mouth is ripped away.

A gasp of pain followed by a series of deep breaths that devolve into choked coughs escape the vampire as he lies paralyzed on the floor, completely at her mercy.

"It has been a long time hasn't it Koyama san?" her tone is cordial even friendly but one look in her eyes affirms the depths of loathing she holds for the creature before her. How many times had he revelled in her torment at the behest of his Master? How many times had he watched her suffer with eyes that only held a sick sadistic glee? He had been one of the many assigned by the council and that man to maintain her gilded cage, to ensure that her existence was sustained until that man came for her; he was one of the lucky few who had not been there when she finally broke free. Now his luck had run out.

"Sh-Shiz-"his stuttering is cut off with a scream of agony as Shizuka sinks her claws into his left shoulder, the ragged cut that mars it causing him excruciating pain as fresh blood flows from the wound.

"Shizuka sama…pl-please, my only p-purpose was to protect y-" a harsh crack resounds through the room as she stands suddenly bringing down her heel on his shoulder, his cries of pain only intensify.

"I don't want to hear your pleas" her voice is low but each word can be clearly heard over the pitiful wails of the once powerful aristocrat. "Tell me Koyama where is your Master?"

Between chocked gasps for precious air and pathetic whimpers the vampire practically whines his answer "I don't know."

Not hearing the response she wanted Shizuka increases the pressure with her heel, before long the sound of creaking bones transforms into echoing cracks and wretched screams as she slowly crushes his bones under foot.

"That's not the answer I was looking for Koyama san" she steps back giving the vampire a moment to recover so he will be able to speak again.

"There are other ways I can get my answers Koyama san, but these methods are far less than desirable to me" she begins to pace, circling his frozen form and growing closer with each step. She can sense his fear growing, his overwhelming desire to run like the prey he has become.

"I don't know" the words escape him as a strangled whisper the despair that laces them clear for all to hear.

The next moment she is upon him, her hand wrapped around his throat in a vice like grip. Slowly she raises him from the floor until he stands before her practically suspended in the air. "Wrong answer" her features are a mask of loathing when she finally speaks and this is the last image he will ever see as she swiftly and mercilessly rips into his throat.

Disgusting, vile, rotted and depraved; all words she would use to describe this taste, it makes her want to retch but within it she will find her answers and so she endures it.

The images that flash before her mind's eye are mostly fleeting and inconsequential or just plain sickening to her and so she moves on quickly disposing of everything she doesn't need leaving him with nothing. Finally she finds what she needs; in an instant she releases him allowing him to crumple lifelessly back to the floor. It isn't long before what little life remained in his eyes drains away, his body slowly crumbling into a pile of ash at her feet.

An unsatisfying end to a very unsatisfying life; it could almost be seen as poetic.

Throughout the entire process neither twin had moved, they had simply stood in the background and watched as she had ripped the answers she sought from the vampires' blood.

Wiping her mouth and hoping that the horrid taste would fade quickly Shizuka stepped over the pile of ash gesturing for Ichiru and Zero to follow her as she made her way back to the dining room; she wanted to hear more about their outing and wanted to be comfortable while she listened. Retaking her seat by the window she waited for the boys to enter and take their own before she began her questions.

"So, was it truly as simple as you would both lead me to believe or is there something I should know?" The look the twins shared at her question was practically an answer in it of itself and caused her ebbing curiosity to quickly flare back to life.

"What?" that simple word told both young men that there would be no dodging her question.

Ichiru was the first to speak "we weren't the only ones there."

She had not been expecting that but she waited patiently for them to continue.

"He was a hunter by the looks of things" Zero explained as he reached into the inner pocket of his jacket, drawing out a silver gun with the words 'Bloody Rose" inscribed along the barrel. "He was carrying this."

Picking up a cloth that lay discarded on the table she holds out her now covered hand in a silent request. Without question Zero walks across the room and deposits the gun in her outstretched hand.

It is a beautiful piece, simple in design but elegant and efficient; she doesn't dare touch it with her bare hand even as her hand hovers just above the engraved barrel tracing the lines that form the Hunters coat of arms.

As silently as she took it she hands it back to Zero who quickly stows it back out of sight "what became of its previous owner?"

"Before or after he was being tortured by Koyama?" Zero lets out a sigh at his brothers' attempt at humour but it does nothing to distract Shizuka.

"After."

"I knocked him out cold; he had lost so much blood that he could barely stay conscious, there was no way he would have been able to focus on what was going on around him." As he says this he meets her eyes with a fierce stare, almost daring her to tell him that he should have killed the Hunter.

She let the tension hang in the air for a moment, waiting to see if either of them would back down; they don't.

With a light huff she resigns herself to the fact that she will never be able to change the boy's views on this point. For the moment it is of little consequence unlike a certain matter concerning Zero. Even as he tries to hide it she can sense it; he always pushes it until the last minute, unwilling to accept his true nature.

"Ichiru; can you go and get me the files sent by Kaname kun last month, I want to see what sort of threat this Hunter could pose?" as he looks between his brother and her it is clear that Ichiru knows what is about to come, however he also knows that it is necessary for his brothers sake. Sharing a quick look with his brother he bows his head and leaves the room without looking back.

When the door closes Shizuka waits as she listens to Ichiru's retreating footsteps, as they finally fade into the distance she turns once again to face Zero. He remains at the opposite side of the room to her, his stance is defiant but still she can see weakness in the way he stands; once again he has forced himself past his limit.

Walking to a sideboard she opens the top draw, it doesn't take her long to find what she is searching for. Grabbing a glass and a pitcher of water that was resting on top she walks back to the dining room table.

Zero watches her, his eyes narrow in disgust as she fills the glass and when she places a small black box on the table he turns to leave the room.

"Zero stop." At her words his hand freezes just as he reaches for the door handle, she can see the tremors that run along his arm, the stiff set of his jaw as he fights to regain control. It comes to nothing.

Picking up the glass she walks slowly to his side speaking softly as she approaches "you can't change it, nor can you run away from it." His struggles only increase as he falls to one knee, his breath now coming in great gasps as his fingers begin to wrap around his throat. Shizuka continues as she stands over him, the glass of water held before his eyes now dyed red by the tablets "Yet you insist on pushing yourself to the limit…"

Eyeing the glass he stubbornly turns away.

Even with his obvious rejection she still holds the glass before him "Zero; it will take away the pain. Drink it." It is not an order but the sound of her voice nevertheless holds power over him, she can see his eyes begin to glaze over, his free will beginning to ebb as his nature compels him to obey.

"No!"

In a flash of movement the glass is knocked from her hand, as it spills its contents across the carpeted floor the glass shatters leaving scattered fragments strewn across the room; she ignores them choosing instead to keep her attention focused on the trembling teen kneeling before her. "If you keep refusing it will only become more painful for you" they are the same words she tells him each time he reaches this stage but as with each time before he refuses to listens.

"Shut Up!" the words escape him as a growl each word laced with the pain that flows through his body.

"You're not leaving me with much of a choice Zero" at these words he seems to regain some of his composure and with it comes some of his control; he faces her as he stands, his breath calmer than it was but still slightly ragged. He staggers back leaning heavily against the wall as he attempts to distance himself from her…A wasted effort.

Bending down Shizuka picks up one of the many shattered pieces of glass, with one swift flick she draws a line across her palm. The blood flows smoothly from the cut and soon it is tracing a path down her arm and slipping easily through her fingers.

"Drink it" it is not a request but an order this time but still he tries to resist, even as the room fills with the scent of his Master's fresh blood, even as his eyes become the colour of the blood the beast inside him so desires…still he resists.

Finally she grows tired, she steps closer as she issues her command once more.

"Zero…you will drink it."

Haze replaces the once clear focus of his eyes showing that his free will has finally been subjugated by her command. Like a puppet on strings he closes what little distance remains between them and gently takes her hand; the cut has already healed but the blood that had flowed from it still covers her palm. Bowing his head Zero traces his tongue along the trails of blood that mark her fair skin before sinking his teeth into her wrist.

He drank deeply as his instincts took hold; suddenly he was holding her tighter as he moved from her wrist to her neck, his right hand holding the back of her neck with an iron grip that was almost gentle as his fangs tear into her yielding flesh.

After a moment he backs away as if he has been burned, his hand flies to his neck as he blindly stumbles back. Beneath his fingers she can see the red glare of the Vampire seal as it tries to suppress his vampiric nature.

He collapses to the floor as the pain becomes too much and soon enough his eyes close as exhaustion claims him.

Kneeling beside him she places her hand against the seal and attempts to repress its power, eventually the angry red lines that trace across Zero's neck recede and fade as the power of the seal wanes. The lines of pain that were marring his brow slowly retreat as he falls deeper into a restful sleep.

After a few minutes Ichiru returns, worry clearly etched in his features he silently crosses the room depositing the file Shizuka had requested on the table before walking straight towards her and picking his brother up gently from the floor.

Without a word he turns to leave but before he can reach the door Shizuka speaks.

"It was for his own good."

Looking back over his shoulder he briefly meets her gaze but quickly turns away.

"I know." With that said he swiftly exits the room leaving Shizuka with much to think about.

Standing by the bed where his student lies unmoving Yagari cannot repress the guilt that hangs over him like a dark cloud. His mind keeps coming back to the same thought; over and over again it circles through his mind 'I should have been there'.

It had been almost a day since Kaito lost consciousness and there was still no sign of him waking any time soon; the poor kid was in a right state, his right arm completely bound in bandages and seals used to promote healing, wires and tubes lined both his arms and chest as machines monitored his condition. As Yagari had guessed before several of Kaito's ribs had been broken and he was exceptionally lucky that none of them had pierced anything vital, although a few stray bone fragments had caused some minor internal bleeding. The full extent of his head injuries would not be made clear until he woke up but at the very least he would be left with a concussion and a bad migraine.

A huff of frustration escaped Yagari as he began to pace about the room in an attempt to dissipate some of the tension that swarmed around him; it didn't work.

Minute after minute he paced, his mind going over what he had found at the abandoned school. After he had ensured that Kaito had been stabilized and was not going to die he had returned to the site and combed the ruins for any clues that would tell him what had happened in that God forsaken place.

He had ruthlessly searched each floor using all his years of experience to try and piece together what had happened but after hours of searching he had discovered very little and as a result his frustration had only grown.

Finally he reached the room in which he had found Kaito; the first thing Yagari noticed was the half dried pool of blood in the centre of the room. Forcing himself to look away he took in the destruction that surrounded him; rubble and debris lay scattered around him, deep cracks ran from floor to ceiling along each wall and to his left an opening had been ripped through the wall revealing a room that looked like it had once been a library.

Walking further in his attention had been drawn to a dark patch at the base of the wall directly opposite him. Kneeling Yagari easily recognises it for what it is; blood but judging by how much of it there was there was little chance that it had come from Kaito. Looking closer he could see that the blood had been smeared leaving a trail that led away from the wall, it appeared that whoever had been injured was dragged and then carried out. The sporadic traces of blood were almost lost amongst the dust and ash; the remnant of vanquished vampires spread about the room. This posed no problem for Yagari though, carefully following the trail he made his way through the empty halls, intent on finding his answers. The trail ended when Yagari exited the building, it didn't gradually fade and there were no signs that the person was trying to cover their escape, it simply stopped.

Frustration and desperation began to well up in him as he realised that coming here had been a complete waste of time. Forcing his eyes shut he tried to reign in his warring emotions, taking a few deep breaths he turned to leave resigning himself to the fact that he would have to wait for Kaito to awaken before he got any answers; that was when he saw it. It was merely a glimpse of motion in the corner of his eye but he saw it. Turning back he walked to the remains of a rusted chain link fence that hung listlessly against the building, there caught in the twisted links he finally found something; the half shredded remains of a Hunters seal.

Taking a seat next to his students' bed once more he draws the remains of the ruined seal from his pocket and studies it. He cannot shake the feeling of familiarity the seal brings; he knows he has seen something similar recently but with the stress of recent events he can't bring himself to remember where.

'Between what befell Kaito and the meeting with Ku-' his thought stops dead as soon as the name crosses his mind. Standing Yagari swiftly exits the room and heads down the corridor, only stopping long enough to instruct one of the nursing staff to come and find him should his apprentice wake up. After receiving a stuttering "hai" from her in reply he continues down the corridor at a brisk pace.

Reaching the archive room he ignores the girl at the front desk and heads straight towards the files he is searching for, within minutes he has found what he is looking for. Before him spread across a desk lays a familiar set of pictures depicting the sites of five different missions all of which had one thing in common.

Picking up one picture in particular Yagari studies it closely before pulling the remnants of the seal he found from his pocket, placing the two on the table next to each other there is no denying the similarity between the seal in the photo and the one lying on the desk in front of him.

The theory that begins to form in his mind slightly unnerves Yagari as he continues to look between the seal and the photo. The words that Kaito spoke echo again and again in his mind refusing to leave him alone.

'That silver haired bastard and his doppelgänger'

Doppelganger…

Twins…

A Hunters' seal…

Silver haired twins…

Kiryu.

As Yuki looks out from her perch atop the balcony she has to work very hard to prevent her eyes from drifting towards the dimly lit windows of the classroom behind her. The Night class has been in session for the last four hours and so far it has been a quiet night; as a Guardian (prefect) of Cross academy it is her duty to safeguard the tranquillity of the Night class while they are on campus.

However as a Guardian (prefect) it is also her duty to keep an eye on both the Day and Night class students to ensure that they are conducting themselves in a manner befitting a student of Cross academy. One little peak couldn't hurt.

As subtly as possible she glances at the window behind her, she cannot suppress the slight blush that dusts her cheeks as the form of Kaname Kuran comes into view. Just this afternoon he had helped her when a bunch of Day class girls in their desperation to get close to the Night class had knocked her to the ground; just the thought of his gentle touch as he helped her from the ground is enough to send a phantom tingle shooting through her chest. Her embarrassment had caused her to back away quickly as she quietly thanked him while trying to hide the annoying blush that always seemed to paint her face whenever she saw him. At her actions he simply smiled and with an almost wistful look had said "you always speak so formally to me. It almost makes me feel lonely" this only caused her to feel even more flustered as she quickly stuttered "um…well…because…you saved my life." Her retreat was slowed when he gently placed a hand on top of her head and smoothed out her slightly messy hair. All too soon the moment came to an end as the Day class girls began to make a bigger fuss, snapping back to reality Yuki had burst into action; bringing out her whistle and frantically waving her arms she somehow managed to herd the girls away from the Night class and back to their dorms. When she finally got a chance to look back Kaname and the other Night class students had already disappeared into the main building.

Yuki was drawn from her memories of that afternoon when she suddenly feels an intense gaze drilling into the back of her head, looking up her eyes meet the stern gaze of Souen Ruka. Sheepishly she returns to her duty and prays that Ruka was the only one who saw her staring.

Not five minutes later her sight is drawn down to a small wooded area by the sound of a branch breaking and a small gasp of pain, it takes a moment for her eyes to adjust to the change in light but soon the figures of two darkly clothed girls emerge from the darkness. "Those are girls from the Day class".

With a sigh Yuki throws herself from the balcony and latches onto an outstretched branch before landing heavily just in front of the two shocked girls. Standing to her full (actually quite meagre) height Yuki adjusts the position of her prefect sash on her sleeve and with a confident voice calls out to the two girls. "You there! Give me your name and class number! Leaving the dorm at night is prohibited in the school rules! It's dangerous out here. Go back to the dorm quickly!"

The girl with longer hair is the first to defend their case "We came to take pictures of the night class. A few minutes shouldn't matter." Yuki barely hears these words as she gets a good look at the girls' shorter haired friend; she is crouched on the ground, her hand clasping her knee where a shallow cut is bleeding. It is only a small wound but Yuki's own blood freezes at the sight of it, in her shock she can only stare as the obvious question escapes her "you're bleeding?"

Instantly she has both girls on their feet and is pushing them forward "not good…hurry! Get back to the dorm!"

The longer haired girls' intelligent reply to this is a confused "huh!"

Having no time to explain or come up with a viable excuse Yuki simply continues to push as she shouts for them to "Hurry!"

A chill runs up her spine and for a moment Yuki is paralysed. In a flurry of black cloth she draws Artemis from its hold; elongating it to its full length she takes a defensive stance as she whirls to face her opponent. "Who's there?" Artemis is already flying to strike her target when it is brought to a sudden stop when a firm grip catches hold of it and Yuki is brought face to face with the scenario she has been dreading since she saw the girl bleeding. Two members of the Night class stand before her; their predominantly white uniforms almost glowing in the moonlight.

"Scary..." the mirth in the vampires tone is clear as he easily diverts her strike "the Headmaster has taught you well."

The aura that surrounds both the teens is one of danger; Yuki can clearly see it but the two girls standing behind her seem completely ignorant of the risk the two males pose, even in this situation they are trying to get past Yuki in order to get closer to the boy's.

"Oh! The Night class…Akatsuki Kain! Hanabusa Aido!" the girl with the injured leg seems to have forgotten about her pain in the presence of the two vampires, her friend is in a similar state only being able to mutter a small "wow" as she continues to stare.

Stepping closer to his companion Aido takes Artemis from Akatsuki hold; who obligingly steps back as Aido begins to speak "Oh dear!" much like his friend he has a hard time keeping the laughter in his voice under control "we only came to look because we smelt blood…how mean, Yuki. We just happened to drop by…" He pauses as he takes a deep breath; sniffing the air as if he has caught a delectable scent "Ah…such a nice smell." When he opens his eyes again his gaze is fixed on Yuki "Oh…it's your blood."

Seeing the way Aido's eyes begin to narrow Yuki takes a defensive crouch; ready to pounce at the slightest hint of aggression. She is slightly distracted when she hears the loud squeals of the two girls still standing behind her "Kyaah! What should we do?! He says we smell good!" For the most part Yuki ignores them as she confronts the threat before her.

"Aido! If you even touch these girls I will punish…"

"Did you fall?" Aido's question completely throws Yuki and for a time all she can do is stand frozen as Aido walks towards her and gently takes her hand. "The nice smell is your blood…Yuki" at these words Aido turns her hand upwards exposing the deep cut that runs along her palm.

In a panic Yuki quickly tries to remember when she did that. 'Darn! When I grabbed that branch.' She tries to pull away while she still can "well thanks but…" as she stutters she tries to wrench her weapon free but she soon realises it is useless.

"I'm really very tempted" she watches in horror as Aido lowers his lips to her wrist the words that he speaks laced with desire. His teeth lightly pierce her skin even as she continues to try and escape his grasp.

In the background Yuki can barely make out the exclamations of shock that come from the Day class girls; "is…is he a vampire?!"

"No, there's no such thing."

She is far more concerned with getting Aido to stop.

"Aido, no!"

"Aido…"

He isn't listening.

"I want more" he draws her closer to him, trapping her back against his warm chest, Artemis now lies useless on the ground well out of reach.

"May I partake from your neck?" By now his eyes have been fully overtaken with red.

By this time the two Day class girls have passed out but Yuki no longer has time to be concerned about them, she has to figure out a way to make Aido stop; before it's too late.

"No…no, no, no! I can't give you any!"

"Aido!"

She tries to push him away, to twist her way free but he is far too strong.

"Aido."

The voice that speaks is neither loud nor threatening but it has an instant effect on Aido. Without warning he drops Yuki and she stumbles forward before ungraciously landing on her knees.

All confidence and bravado suddenly leaves Aido and from the corner of her eye Yuki can see Akatsuki trying very hard to fade into the background as Kaname Kuran emerges from the trees.

"Kaname sama…I just…"

Aido's explanation is cut short as Kaname slashes his arm through the air; the movement is so quick and precise the only evidence that confirms Yuki didn't imagine it is the thick gash that streaks across Ado's cheek.

"Just?"

Aido doesn't dare to meet the enraged Purebloods gaze; all he can do is stare meekly at the ground as he whispers a small apology.

"Kain."

At the sound of his name Akatsuki points at himself while maintaining a look he hopes looks innocent.

"Why didn't you stop Aido? You're also to blame." At the Presidents words a heavy cloud of depression seems to descend upon Akatsuki however he says nothing.

Grabbing Aido by the back of his collar Kaname turned to face Yuki who is still sitting in the grass; "Yuki…what should be done about the memories of the two who've fainted? You'll take care of it?"

"Oh! Yes Kaname." Is her quick answer as she stands to attention but she soon corrects herself. "I mean, the Headmaster will erase their memories…"

She spares a glance for the two collapsed figures behind her "…Although I feel a bit sorry for them." Even though the girls brought this upon themselves she cannot stop the pang of sympathy that runs through her chest at the sight of them curled up in the grass; all they had wanted was to get a little closer to the people they admired…just like her.

Releasing Aido Kaname begins to walk back to the main building and the rest of his classes but before he leaves he addresses Yuki once more. "Alright then…I ask you to take care of the rest. Please inform the Headmaster I will be there to see him about this matter first thing in the morning…"

For a moment he pauses.

"I'm sorry we scared you…Yuki."

"No! I was just bitten a little…I'm fine!" at her assurances he bows his head slightly before disappearing back into the night along with Aido and Kain.

Even after he is gone Yuki continues to gaze at the spot from which he faded back into the darkness; the thoughts that run through her mind all leading to the same conclusion 'Kaname really is different…'

She is dragged from her musings when a sharp pain lances through her hand. Looking down she notices that the cut and more importantly the bite mark from Aido are still bleeding. Practically blanching at the fact she quickly binds her hand with the ribbon from her uniform as she struggles back to the Headmaster's private residence as she drags the two unconscious Day class girls with her.
