After Tara's lyching Eve realized that, despite everything, she still wanted to live. She wanted to have a child, to be a mother. But her only chance was rapidly coming to an end. If Eve wanted to raise a child in the Ark, she had to give birth before January 1st. Factoring in 9 months of gestation Eve would have to get pregnant very soon. Eve vowed to get pregnant. Whether the father was a rebel or a guard Eve didn't care. She would've eve had sex with colonel Sadler of Dr Weber to have this baby. It was now March 18th. As much as Eve would've liked to take a day to properly mourn Tara, the clock was ticking. She had to get started.
In the final weeks of March Eve had sexual relations with a number of males in camp 81, both guards and inmates. It wasn't hard to seduce any of them. She just touched their had softly, motioned towards an available closet or whatever, and most followed Eve in there. Some guards refused to do it while on duty, but not during downtime. Most likely they were also trying to get into an Ark this way. If that failed, they wanted to spread their genes to the next generation. Some females used this sexual intercourse to try and get out of work, but Eve wanted to prove she was still useful, so she continued to work in the infirmary. She never asked if this was her only job now, not exactly anxious to tell colonel Sadler that she hadn't worked in the mines for awhile. Eve had heard about guards sexually assaulting inmates, but she saw one of that herself. She knew it probably happenned, but what she personally saw was all consensual. She gave herself up willingly to try and save her life. Even with Jerusalem gone, the world was still slouching towards Bethlehem.
March 30th 2035. 478 days until impact. Eve also feared she wasn't pregnant yet. That could really pose some problems in the not too distant future. This night was also movie night at camp 81. Although movies were shown most of the time the inmates on good behavior were allowed to leave their barracks at night for this. Thus it had become the unnofficial date night of the prison. This could also present final opportunities. Eve clearly wasn't the only one with this idea. Ever since she first worked on the Pennsylvania Ark Eve had learned to block out people having sex close to her. She also saw what the theatre was showing. Zoey Allen in a boxing match to entertain loyalist troops, and apparently collective P.O.W.s. Zoey was already 3-0. Given her status most prisoners were rooting for her opponent, only a few bet on Zoey. But Zoey beat her opponent, now 4-0. The theatre also showed a vampire movie. In this one vampires were bitter from such a long life. Having become used to "Buffy" Eve figured a creature would have to be a soulless monster to want to live forever, to not care about killing that many. In this movie an old vampire was capable of much good, or much evil, depending on their particular mood, not unlike governments. Who could realistically be expected to remain the same for centuries. In one scene a vampire was asked if he ever missed being human. He admitted that once, in the 15th century, he saw a bird with a wounded wing, struggling just to survive. To have to struggle that hard, probably also made each day seem like a gift. For a brief moment, this centuries old vampire envied the wounded bird.
