Chapter 10: The Necromancer
Last time we left our heroes they had meet Marik Ishtar also known as Doctor Strange. The young teen held one of Atem's millennium items, the mystic rod which amplified his magical powers. According to good doctor he had a strange feeling that overcame him that he had to be here within Atem's pyramid. Marik also alerted the two heroes to the fact that he came across an army of zombies which seemed to be in control of a necromancer. But soon enough the zombies had surrounded the three heroes. This caused Phantom to curse out loud as Atem took control over Yugi's body forcing the ancient pharaoh to summon forth magic that he hasn't had to use since his death.
"Come and aid me oh servants of the shadow realm. Come forth Hitoma soul!" Atem called out as a large fireball appeared before him. The fireball had a human like face as Atem directed it to attack the zombie horde. The fireball rammed into all the zombies setting them ablaze and making a path way out of there. Atem began to feel weak almost instantly as Phantom grabbed a hold of his friend.
"Marik can you drive a motorcycle?" Phantom asked as Atem's form changed back into Yugi. The young teen was breathing hard as Danny who was within the void grew concerned for his friend. He has never seen Yugi like this before as he wanted to help his friend but he allowed Phantom to do what he needed to do.
"I believe that I can." Marik replied as he mounted Atem's motorcycle. Phantom held Yugi close to him as the sorcerer supreme followed behind as the three of them moved through the pyramid looking for a safe spot where Phantom could help Yugi and Atem.
*You best not die on me again Atem. I won't allow you to.* Phantom growled mentally at his friend. A sudden passage opened up allowing the three to enter the room as they ended up in a room filled with large verity of hieroglyphics. Yugi had passed out again do to fight and Atem using his shadow magic. Phantom was also worn thus causing Danny to feel the same.
"Will you be alright?" Marik asked as he got off of Atem's bike. Phantom had gotten off his bike as he laid Yugi down onto the ground.
"Maybe…. I need to rest for a bit." Phantom said as he started to slowly pass out transforming back into Danny. 'Note to self don't use that much power again until Danny can handle it better.' Phantom thought to himself as he slipped into the void. Danny felt dizzy and light headed that he wobbled on his feet as Marik helped him slowly sit down. Marik conjured up some water handing it over to Danny.
"Here this shall help you." Marik stated as he seemed unfazed by Danny and Yugi transforming back to their human states after the spirits of vengeance left them.
"Thank you Marik." Danny stated as he sipped on the water slowly. "I suppose that I have a lot of explaining to do."
"Not really my friend. Being sorcerer supreme, I can tell that you and your friend are the hosts to perhaps two of the most powerful spirits of vengeance ever created." replied Marik. This caused Danny to look at Marik in shock.
"I never heard of Phantom and Atem referred to as that but then again I am kind of flying blind here. Oh forgive me, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Danny Fenton. My unconscious friend is Yugi Moto." Danny replied extending his hand out. Marik smiled softly as he shook Danny's head.
"It is nice to meet you Danny." Marik replied. The second their hands touched a hot burning sensation spread out on top of Danny's right hand and on Marik's upper left arm almost where his shoulder was. Both watched in wide eye as a symbol began to appear on their skin. It was the same symbol that was on Atem's and Phantom's jackets as well as their mystic motocycles (the medallion of power). It was inside of a tribal sun that almost looked like flames had surrounded the symbol (see scrletfyre. deviantart art/ Tribal- Midnight- Sons- Sun- Tattoo- 444676575 (remove the spaces). Yugi bolted upright as his eyes looked like they were glazed over as Marik's had done the same.
"Light and dark, two halves of the same coin shall come together. Both friends and allies shall gather all together and unite under two powerful spirits. These people will all bear a sacred mark to help destroy the ultimate evil that threatens the world. Several items will have to be collected and brought together in order for the darkness to be beaten. You will need everyone's help in order to succeed. Friendship is a power that all will have, making the will stronger than any power combined. The Midnight Sons shall rise again." the two spoke in an eerie voice. Danny looked a bit creeped out by the way Yugi and Marik started speaking then again Danny had heard bits a pieces of this... prophecy. Now hearing the whole thing, it jumped the creepy factor up by ten points, sanity factor down by three. Yea they weren't getting out of here and playing this like nothing every happened.
"Well... that was...ummm..." Danny trailed off as Yugi and Marik returned to normal. Well what was normal for them anyway.
"What happened?" Yugi asked rubbing his temples trying to get rid of the headache that was now forming.
"How are you recoving so fast?" Danny asked as Yugi just shrugged his shoulders. To hell if he knew.
"Where are we any way?" Yugi asked looking around trying to regain his bearings.
"We're in one of the many secret rooms that this temple has to offer." Marik said reading one of the many walls trying to figure out where they were and why. Yugi suddenly heard what sounded like the voice of a little boy.
"Can you help me mister? Please I am lost..."
"Um... guys do you hear a little boys voice? Or is it just me?" Yugi asked. Both Marik and Danny stared to hear what Yugi was talking about.
"Can you help me mister? Please I am lost..."stated the child voice again. This time to Yugi it sounded like his own voice from when he was a young child. Yugi's violet eyes went almost dull and lifeless.
"Yugi?" Danny questioned as Yugi walked over to the hieroglyphs that showed a picture if him dressed in regal robes. Yugi didn't reply to Danny as he held out his hand mirroring the image shown. Danny's eyes widened as he could see both Yugi and Atem in human form standing side by side. The hieroglyphs began to glow as a light beamed to Yugi's chest. Images began to dance in the back of Yugi's mind as he relived Atem's past. Yugi could see himself as Atem as a young child as he stood lost within the pyramid. Atem had found an older looking man with long white hair dressed almost in clothing that resembled that of an archeologist.
=Flashback=
"Excuse me mister could you help me? I am lost..." Atem stated in Egyptian. The man whom looked Indian in decent knelt down onto one knee before Atem.
"Where did you come from?" the man asked.
"I don't remember. Please I am scared. I want to go home." cried Atem.
"Fear not young one. I shall help you." replied the man as in his hands he held an upside down pyramid.
"What's that?" asked Atem pointing to the object. When his small fingers touched it, the pyramid began to glow.
'It seems that this child is no ordinary child. It also seems that he is the rightful heir to the millennium puzzle.' the man thought to himself. The man smiled as he reached into his pocket pulling out a piece of rope. "It seems that the millennium puzzle has chosen you. You must be someone very important and powerful as the millennium puzzle can only be wielded by the strong." stated the man as he tied the puzzle around Atem's neck. 'I can also sense a great darkness within him. But it doesn't feel evil in nature.' the man thought to himself. "What is your name child?" asked the man.
"I am not certain. But I can hear these strange voices calling me Master Atem." replied Atem. The man studied Atem as he could see creatures and monsters appearing behind the child. 'He holds the power from the shadow realm! Then by rights he is to become pharaoh but, he doesn't know how to control his powers.' the man thought to himself as he smiled at Atem. "Alright then Atem. You shall stay with me as I am going to help you in ways that you never thought possible." Atem slowly nodded his head as the man rose to his feet.
"What's your name mister?" Atem asked taking a hold of the Indian's hand.
"Shadi. If you ever get lost or lose your way remember that the millennium puzzle shall help guide you." replied the man. Atem lightly touched the millennium puzzle that hung around his neck.
=End Flashback=
The light began to change as it formed a golden upside down pyramid hanging around Yugi's neck. Seeing the millennium puzzle materialize caused Marik to gasp.
"What is wrong Marik? What is that around Yugi's neck? It looks almost like your rod." asked Danny.
"The millennium puzzle. It's was said to have been lost since the death of the previous owner. A pharaoh named Atem." replied Marik. The glowing light finally vanished as the millennium puzzle sat against Yugi's chest. Yugi was dazed for a moment before looking at the puzzle around his neck.
"Okay what just happened?" Danny asked. Before anyone could answer the whole pyramid shook sending everyone to the ground.
"What's going on?" Yugi asked after the shaking stopped.
"It's the necromancer. He must be trying to summon something that could kill us all. We must stop him." Marik replied standing back up.
"Can this day get any worse?" Danny asked. The answered came by causing the room they were in to start to fall apart around them.
"Danny, next time keep your mouth shut!" Yugi growled as he and Marik climbed on to his bike with Danny doing the same. "Hold on this is going to get bumpy!" Yugi stated revving the engine and tearing out of there like a bat of hell with Danny right behind him. A passage opened up and the three of them run smack dab in the middle of a zombie horde.
"You drive. I'll deal with them." Marik stated firing a blast at the horde. Suddenly the millennium puzzle around Yugi's neck glowed and showed them a path to go. It led to where they didn't know but, anywhere was better than being in the middle of a horde of zombies that was for sure. Yugi drove fast and hard to get out of there with Danny right on his tail. It wasn't long until they reached the burial chamber and the medallion of power on both Danny's and Yugi's bikes began to glow once again.
"Here we go again." Danny stated with a laugh slamming his hand down on to it triggering the transformation as Yugi doing the same. The three of them dismounted the bikes as Marik became fixated by the statue's that stood on either side of the doors. The statue on the left had a remarkable appearance to both Yugi and Atem combined, while the statue on the right had a remarkable appearance to both Danny and Phantom combined.
"Is this possible?" Marik asked. Neither spirit answered as they opened the chamber doors. The doors opened wide and the three steeped inside, in the center of the chambers stood a human dressed almost in vampiric clothing as he stood inside of a summoning circle. He turned his head slightly smiling at the three who entered the chamber. A loud low snarl escaped from Atem's lips as his fangs lengthened and his eyes began to glow he resisted transforming into his true form. Phantom also wanted to take on his true form and tear this guy to shreds. Evil laughter erupted from the man as it seemed that both spirit's and necromancer recognized each other.
"Well this is definitely an unwelcome sight to see you both here yet again. How long has it been Atem, Phantom?" asked the man
"Centurious. How dear you break into my resting place!" Atem snarled.
"What on earth are you up to Centurious?" Phantom growled.
"You know full well solder. It seems you've also brought the sorcerer supreme with you. Now I can kill three birds with one stone." Centurious replied. By now Marik recognized what Centurious was up to.
"Are you crazy? You are tampering with forces that shouldn't be tampered with." Doctor strange replied as Centurious just laughed.
"No I am not crazy my dear doctor. I only believe that I am taking what should be right fully mine. Ask Atem and Phantom they know more about this then anyone." Centurious replied
T.V. announcer: And welcome back to the Riders tribute. And here are you host's Scrletfyre and Drangonstar101. *audience claps*
Scrletfyre: Welcome back everyone today on the show will be talking with Centurious. *Dragonstar101 walks in wolf form dragging Centurious behind her*
Dragonstar101: Hi every one sorry I'm late he *points to the beaten up Centurious* wasn't being reasonable about coming here. *throws Centurious on to the cough and sits down next to scrletfyre*
Centurious (snapping): Why on earth should I even talk to you welps? You are only going to kill me off in the next chapter. *scrletfyre growling low into Centurious ear only to have him look at her in surprise*
Dragonstar101: What on earth did you say to him?
Scrletfyre: trust me you don't want to know. *turns to Centurious* How do you feel about returning to this part?
Centurious: It would have been fine until you whelps have to go around and kill me yet again.
Scrletfyre (growling): Watch it Centurious you are already on thin ice.
Centurious: Like I care! *bolts off stage leaving everyone baffled*
Dragonstar101: Well that could have gone better.
