Rain
Chapter XVIII
Sam was shocked to say the least. He had not expected the sudden embrace or the mirth he saw written all over Peter's face. He had not predicted what followed as well which was the reason why he continued moving around not as freely as he would have liked. His responses were not well-timed as well. It had taken him about ten good seconds to reciprocate the hug, fifteen to smile broadly and nearly twenty precious ones to find the courage to deepen the delicate kisses Peter was drowning him in. All in all, it was a fun experience, one Sam would love to repeat and even take it further given the right time and right place.
As time passed and the surroundings came back into full view Sam and Peter decided it was high time they pulled back in order to breathe. Both were panting, but neither minded. After all, they had waited for this for years and they would deal with whatever consequences the aftermath brought.
"What about..?" Sam began to question, but Peter immediately silenced him, sealing his lips in a desperate kiss once more. Their lips moved against each other with frequency only innate to tsunamis and hurricanes. As time went on their fervent nature kicked in and soon they found each other devouring one another as though this was the last time they could share together. Soon the tsunami and the hurricane met, creating a beautiful blood-red that would consume not only the skin, but would blaze a path inside as well. The crimson colour traveled everywhere in their bodies, from the toes to the fingertips, from the pelvis to the scalp, from the veins to the heart, from the neurons to the brain, from the body to the soul, connecting the owners of said bodies in a heated dance that would seal their paths for eternity and beyond.
Peter pulled back in order to catch a much needed breath before he dived back in, choosing to kiss Sam slowly this time, trying to convey every promise that he had made in his head during the past few years. Sam responded just as gently, afraid that if he put too much pressure Peter would either shatter or simply disappear. However, some time afterward they had to pull back again.
Peter panted as he ran a hand up Sam's arm all the way to his collarbone. He then traced a small path all the way to the boy's chin, marking a trail his lips would soon follow. His fingers then proceeded to Sam's swollen lips. Peter licked his own when he noticed just how red Sam's had become. The latter found himself mimicking the movement when Peter's hand made its way toward Sam's face and gently stroked a slightly visible cheekbone.
"There is no engagement. I broke it off." Peter suddenly said. His soothing motions soon stopped when Sam went rigid against him. Nonetheless, Peter's stance did not falter. He held on firmly to the boy before him and soon after he had convinced himself that Sam would neither try to run away, nor would the boy attempt to escape, he explained, "It was Ava and before you ask anything I want you to listen to me, okay?"
Sam's expressions changed so fast Peter had a hard time reading them, but one remained prominent – guilt. With a sigh Peter stroked Sam's cheek and said, "It is not your fault, do you hear me? My relationship with Ava was doomed anyway. Even if you had not come back or even if you had and we had not met, she still would have left me."
Fury suddenly passed through Sam's eyes, but Peter immediately acted. "I do not mind. In fact, I am happy for her."
Confusion settled on Sam's face, making Peter smile before he moved his other hand to Sam's cheek and began stroking it as well. "She is in love with someone else and I am certain they would be very happy. Neither she, nor Danny have acted upon their feelings except for a few very rare occasions I am not going to discuss with you here and now. The point is, I love her, but I am not in love with her. The same goes for her. She and I have both decided to move on and pursue happiness elsewhere. She has found hers and I think I have found mine."
Trepidation made its way to Sam's face and Peter did not falter this time as well. He stopped his caresses and locked his intense gaze with Sam's before he said, "The person I want to pursue happiness with…. is you."
Sam's eyes widened before the information was taken in. After a few seconds a huge grin split his face in half before he brought his hands up and placed them over Peter's. He looked into those blue depths that were gazing at him with much familiar warmth before he smirked and said, "I love you, too, web-head."
Peter's eyes widened. His mouth fell open and he was about to protest when Sam simply chuckled before capturing Peter's lips with his and even after they had pulled back and Peter was still adamant about protesting, Sam chuckled once more. Naturally, Peter grumbled, but smiled, nonethless, when Sam engulfed him in a tender embrace.
