chapter 17: spirit battle

Tucker and Seto watched in horror as both Yugi and Danny transform into the spirits of vengeance. Even for a half ghost like Vlad Masters he had heard of the spirits of vengeance. This made Vlad laugh at the irony. But neither Atem and/or Phantom looked amused.

"How in the...?" Tucker asked as he kept his weapons trained on both Atem and Phantom. He wasn't sure of what was going on or even what in the world his friend had transformed into.

"Trust me... They are on our side. It's one thing I have learned so far, never piss off possibly the two most powerful spirits of vengeance." Seto stated as he pulled Tucker back away from the two spirits.

"Vladimir Masters... Plasmius... Your hands are stained with the blood of the innocent!" both Phantom and Atem stated in unison. Phantom reached up grabbing a hold of the necklace that hung around his neck as it transformed into a scythe. Atem pulled the mystic chain that hung around his chest channeling hellfire into the weapon. Plasmius just glared at the two.

"Oh... Really?! And what do plan to do about it?" Plasmius asked.

"The innocent demand justice. You will pay for the innocent lives you have taken." both Atem and Phantom stated in unison. Plasmius held one hand out before him flexing it at the two.

"Bring it!" he simply stated. The two spirits of vengeance charged at Plasmius as Atem whipped his hellfire infused chain at Plasmius. Plasmius tried to phase through the object but he was stopped by Phantom who had struck at him with his scythe. The hellfire chain wrapped around Plasmius's body causing him to scream out in pain. Phantom moved in as his eyes looked to be on fire. 'Oh shit!' Plasmius thought to himself. Plasmius managed to phase through the chain before he felt the fiery burn of the penance stare. Tucker watched in both awe and fear as the two fought against Plasmius. He had Jarvis run a scan on both to see just how powerful they were.

"Sorry sir but it seems that their power levels are off the chart." Jarvis replied. Tucker's jaw nearly dropped to the ground.

'And one of them happens to be my best friend. What in the world happened to him?' Tucker thought to himself. Tucker turned to Seto as if looking for some sort of explanation.

"From what I know, Danny and Yugi are the reincarnated bodies for the spirits of vengeance that possess their bodies. We are part of a group called the Midnight Sons that is supposed to help them fight an ultimate evil known as Zarathos. Each of us has an object that used to belong to either Atem and/or Phantom when they used to be alive before they became the spirits of vengeance. We also happen to have some sort of link to the original Midnight Sons." Seto explained. Tucker nodded his head as he undid part of his armor to reveal a small staff which seemed to be made out of rubies.

"You mean something like this?" he asked showing Seto the staff. Suddenly without warning the staff flew out of Tucker's hands and into Phantom's as he transformed into his true angelic form. Tucker's jaw nearly dropped once again when he saw this. Warning bells and alarms erupted from Jarvis.

"May I suggest sir that you and Mr. Kaiba get a good distance away from those three." Jarvis stated. Tucker grabbed Seto as he blasted out of range.

"Tucker what's going on?" Seto shouted out over the roar of Tucker's engine.

"Don't know. Jarvis's censors are going haywire. Whatever is going to happen is going to be big!" Tucker replied. Seto believed him as he had seen first hand what Atem was capable of.

Back with Phantom, Atem, and Plasmius... Plasmius stop dead (pun not intended) as he watched Phantom change. The staff once in Phantom's hands started to charge with the same energy that Iron Man uses. Phantom smirked then charged Plasmius striking him with both the scythe and staff. Unlike the first time when Iron Man shot Plasmius, this one hit and it hit him hard. Plasmius went flying only to be stopped by Atem who grabbed him by his ankle with his hellfire infused chain and threw him back down to the earth, only to create a mile long trench in the earth.

"Atem head back to where Iron Man and Punisher are. I'll finish this!" Phantom stated. Atem hesitated before nodding and joining the others whom were at a hill top three miles out.

With Punisher and Iron Man... once Tucker landed Seto looked over towards the battle field with Tucker doing the same.

"Seto what the hell is going on? And what did we just see happened to Phantom?!... Or was that one Atem?" Tucker asked.

"Phantom is the one with the white hellfire hair. According to what I know they are both capable of other forms. I think what we saw was one of those forms." replied Seto.

"What you saw was our true forms. The ones we used to have when we were alive. Phantom is both an angelic ghost while I am a vampiric demon." stated a dark voice. Atem had approached the two heroes looking warn out.

"Where's Phantom?" Seto asked.

"Taking care of Plasmius. I trust that you explained things to Iron Man." Atem stated as Seto nodded his head yes. "Good." Atem transformed back to Yugi who panted wildly as his eyes where red and his fangs were elongated. *Abiou (partner) I am sorry as I know that I have warn you out. You need to feed as I used up more of my power than you are used to.* Atem stated in the back of Yugi's mind before he disappeared back to the void. Yugi could smell the metallic scent of blood fill the air as Seto had cut his wrist.

"Here Yugi. I have a feeling you need this." Seto stated as Yugi just weakly nodded his head yes.

"Will Danny be alright?" Tucker asked in concern. Yugi stopped feeding for a second to answer Tucker's question.

"I know that Phantom will not allow any harm to happen to him. I know that he is going to be even more warn out than I am." Yugi replied as he went back to drinking Seto's blood.

Back over with Phantom and Plasmius, Phantom stood as energy flowed through out his being. The ecto-ruby staff was fueled not only by Phantom's angelic energy but also Iron Man's. Plasmius slowly climbed out of the trench wincing in pain.

"Get used to that pain Plasmius. You reek of innocent lives that you have taken. For what purpose?" Phantom asked.

"Power. And to get what I deserve." replied Vlad.

*He wants me and my mom. He believes that we belong with him not with my father.* Danny told Phantom mentally. *There has been a few instances where he tried to kill off my dad.* Phantom hissed at the memories shown to him by his human host. No matter what Plasmius was going down. Without warning Phantom charged at Vlad as the energy that has been flowing through his body went into the staff and scythe.

"No more! I will not allow you to harm another life!" roared out Phantom as he slashed at Vlad with scythe in hand causing the older halfa to scream out in pain. While in close quarters with the half ghost, Phantom blasted him close range with the ecto-ruby staff. His eyes glowed a fiery red as hellfire shot into Plasmius's eyes. "Feel the pain that you have inflicted onto others. Feel the fiery burn of the Penance Stare!" Phantom roared. Vlad screamed out in pain as he transformed back into his human form as he writhed in pain as his eye sockets became pure black cinders. Phantom slowly undid his angelic transformation as he slowly moved to rejoin the group. Suddenly without warning Phantom transformed back into Danny who was panting wildly. Tucker moved to catch his friend before he passed out.

"It will be a while before we see Vlad again. I don't think he is bothering anyone for a long time." Danny stated as his eyes slowly began to close.

*Rest for now Danny. We used far too much of our power against Vlad.* Phantom stated before he vanished back into the void.

T.V. Announcer: And welcome back to the Riders tribute. And here are you host's Scrletfyre and Drangonstar101. *audience claps*

Dragonstar101: Welcome back everyone.

Scrletfyre: Today on the show we are going to speak with Vlad Masters also known as Plasmius.

Dragonstar101: So without further ado please welcome Vlad to the show. *audience claps*

Vlad: Thank you for having me.

Dragonstar101: At lest out of all the villains we interviewed you were at lest willing to let the plot do what it has to... *mumbles* and you haven't threaten to kill us either.

Scrletfyre: Hallelujah. *throws hand to the sky*

Vlad *chuckles*: Well I don't see the reason to threaten you two. You both are the authors and I say what goes on in your version of the story should be allowed to happen as you are the ones controlling the scenes.

Scrletfyre: It is about damn time that someone understood that. Besides that how dose it feel to be in this story?

Vlad *sighs*: Can I set the record straight and say that I am nothing like my characters both in the television series and/or this story. But I guess that it can't be helped that I play a rather convincing villain. Even if I say so my self.

Dragonstar101 *grins*: Gosh Vlad you flatter us. We should have more guests like you. *can hear previous guests shouting*

Scrletfyre *sighing*: Here we go again!
