Chapter 19: a man with a hidden past
Meanwhile in what looks to be a mansion turned into a school, a young man tossed and turned in his sleep. A golden necklace that sat around his neck was glowing as he was having visions of what looked to be the future. In his dream he could see two fiery entities along with a small group of people fighting against a dark entity. The man bolted wide awake covered in sweat as three metal claws came shooting out of his knuckles as he gasped wildly trying to calm himself down. He allowed the claws to retract back into his hand as he then ran his hand through his thick black locks.
"Having that same dream again Duke?" asked a voice. Duke Devlin turned to see a man sitting within a wheelchair. The man was completely bald when it came to his hair.
"Professor. I wish I knew what it means. It is almost like my past. I can't remember a thing.
"The only reason that I even have a name is because you gave me one. You took me in and educated me despite my hidden past." replied Duke. The professor smiled at Duke as he watched as the necklace that looked Egyptian in design finally stopped glowing.
"I think we should take another look into your mind Duke. The answer is in there somewhere." stated Professor. Duke looked at Professor Charles Xavier as it seemed that the man wasn't going to drop this. Duke sighed as he slowly nodded his head laying back down. Xavier moved his chair next to Duke's bed as he placed his hands by Duke's head. Both Duke and Xavier closed their eyes as the professor used his mental abilities to shift through Duke's memories. Duke could see himself laying on a metal slab as various needles and liquids was going into his body.
"He is ready, Skulker." stated a mysterious voice.
"Begin the adimantium feed." replied the voice belonging to a man known simply as Skulker. Adimantium was a metal that was able to cut through any substance and nearly impenetrable. With Duke's natural healing factor, he seemed to make the perfect test subject. Duke was wearing the strange Egyptian necklace around his neck. The two men watched as Duke was feed the adimantium as it bonded to his skeleton. Duke after words destroyed the complex that gave him the adimantium claws that laid hidden in his knuckles. Duke ran off into the night. During the vision Xavier could see where Duke could find answers. Xavier pulled back opening his eyes as Duke did the same.
"Go back to Quebec Canada. There is a broken down lab that maybe has your answers." stated Xavier.
"Thanks professor. Lets hope that I can find out who I am." replied Duke as the man left the room allowing the young man to pack for his trip.
Elsewhere back in Amity Park, we find Danny looking out over a cliff. It has been a week since the group got back from visiting Tucker and now a new problems was creeping up. Danny didn't know how much longer he can keep his secret from his parents. Danny knew that Yugi was is in the same boat. But now with the added weight of what this week meant for the Fenton family well, things just got ten times more complected for pour Danny.
*What's wrong Danny?* Phantom asked.
"It's this week and the fact that I don't know how much longer I can keep you a secret from them." Danny stated.
*What is it about this week that seems to make you both sad and happy?* Phantom asked reading the emotions that his light was showing. Danny sighed getting back on the Wolfe Rider motorcycle riding it back to town.
*I was five at the time. My family had gone to Quebec Canada for a camping trip the week started out as normal as it could with my family.*
=Flashback from Danny's P.O.V.=
It was a Wednesday night was when it happened. Jazz and I were playing "Go Fish" when we all heard an explosion nearby. My parents told us to stay in the cabin while they went to investigate. Twenty minuets later they came back caring a man no older then twenty years old. He was badly injured and from the look of things he was trying to stay conscious but failing. Once my mom and dad laid him down on the couch we saw his wounds close up without medical aid. Jazz was curious, I thought it was cool, my mom was in awe, and my dad was excited. My mom said that we should let him rest until he was better. Sometime in the middle of the night around midnight, he had woke up startled. I was already up because I felt as if something was wrong. The young man looked kind of rough almost feral like a wolf.
"Are you ok?" I asked the man looked around and seemed to calm down at my presence.
"Where am I?" he asked in a rough voice with a very heavy Canadian accent.
"You're in our summer cabin. What happened? My parents found you hurt and weak." I asked he looked at me a bit confused.
"I-i don't know..."
"Danny what are you doing up sweetie?" my mom asked when she saw me up. She then realized that the young man was awake. "Oh... you're finally awake. You gave both me and my husband quite a scare." she stated as she turned to me. "Danny why don't you head back to bed."
"Ok mom. Good night Mr. Wolf." I replied before going back to bed.
=Flashback Ends=
*The next morning we found that he had left. Ever since we've gone back to the cabin every year. Hoping that we would see him again and in one way or another give him a family.* Danny finished.
*You called him Mr. Wolf?* Phantom asked laughing at Danny's memory.
*I was five at the time so cut me some slack. Plus he did sort of looked like a wolf.* Danny snapped back while pulling up to the house. "Hey mom?" Danny called into the house after he entered inside.
"Downstairs Danny." Maddie shouted out as Danny ventured down to his parents lab. He found Maddie in one of the many closet's looking for the camping gear.
"Hey mom do you think we can take Yugi and Mr. Moto with us this year?" Danny asked.
"I don't see why not and there are some ruins near our cabin." Maddie replied knowing that the old archeologist would be interested in the ruins. Danny quickly hugged his mother thanking her repeatedly. "Your welcome sweetheart. Now go and tell your father not to pack every ghost hunting device we have. This trip is to get away from those sort of things."
'That's going to be a bit harder for Yugi and me considering strange things seem to follow us like the plague.' Danny thought to himself. He could hear the ghostly angel laughing in the back of his mind.
*Ah come on Danny and live a little. It's not like we ask these things to happen. Who knows, something good may come out of this.* stated Phantom. Danny just shook his head as he went to call his best friend.
Meanwhile, Duke was on his black Kawasaki motorcycle driving up to Quebec Canada. Duke remembered a strange family finding him after his alteration as he managed to get away from the destroyed lab. He remembered the small boy that called him Mr. Wolf.
'He must be in his early or late teens by now. I wonder if they still go to that cabin. I would like to meet them again.' Duke thought to himself as he played with the military dog tag that sat around his neck. Engraved on the tag was simply the name Wolverine which Duke used as his codename for the X-Men. He found it kind of ironic that the kid would nickname him Mr. Wolf. 'Danny... that is what his mother called him. I hope the kid is alright as I hope that one day our paths will cross again. Lets just hope that when that time comes he still remembers me.' Duke thought to himself. Suddenly he began to notice the Egyptian necklace around his neck beginning to glow again. 'Not again.' Duke thought to himself as he pulled his bike over. He closed his emerald green eyes allowing the visions to dance in his head. He wasn't physic like the professor but this item seemed to give him that ability. Images began to play in his mind. But this time it wasn't the future which he normally saw but bits of his own past.
=Flashback begins=
Duke found himself in what looked to be ancient Egypt as he was very young maybe no older than ten years old. He was standing next to a beautiful Egyptian woman who had the strange necklace that he wore now around her neck.
"My son... I have foreseen terrible things that are going to happen to you. I fear that soon my life may end and yours will forever change. I want you to have my millennium necklace. It will help guide you in the times to come." stated the woman as she unclasped the necklace putting it around Duke's neck.
"No... mama... I can't. The pharaoh gave you this to help him." Duke stated.
"I know my son. But there will come a time when you will be able to help him just as I did for him. Please my son. You are the only one I can trust with this item. Guard it with your very life."
"Yes mama... I will do as you say." replied Duke sadly. The images then changed to show both him and his mother being attacked by a strange dark shadow. The same dark entity that plagued his dreams. That's when he saw three bone claws shoot out of his knuckles as he attacked the shadow that possessed his mother as she begged for him to end her life. "No... mama... Please don't die. Don't leave me!" Duke shouted out as he held his bloody mother close to his body.
"Fear not my son. My light will always be with you. Please be strong as you will face numerous tasks that is to come. Be strong as I know that in my heart you will grow up to be a fine young man. Remember that the pharaoh will return to claim the item you now wear. Please help him in the time to come to defeat the evil that threatens our world." she gasped out before closing her eyes one last and final time.
"NO... MAMA... ISIS!" Duke screamed out.
=End Flashback=
Tears rolled down Duke face as he sobbed silently. His name still escaped him but he could remember his mother and being alive in ancient Egypt.
"Mom... Isis... I will keep my promise. Please watch over me and protect me from up in Heaven." Duke stated as he took off back on the road. Little did he realize that her ghostly spirit was with him as she gently kissed Duke's cheek. She had foreseen all the terrible things that would happen to her son thanks to the millennium necklace but she knew in her heart that he would be strong. His strength and unique ability would help the pharaoh in more ways that she could ever dream. She had foreseen the terrible darkness being reborn. But hope remained as she had also seen the pharaoh being reborn in two different ways. Both stronger together than apart. And he was not alone. His most trusted and mutual friend and guardian was there with him.
~May Ra protect them all. May the gods guide them to one another. And to keep them safe from harm.~ she stated as she vanished from sight.

Dragonstar101: not gonna work Duke I have a younger sister and brother who do that so pouting isn't going to work on me.
Duke: Dam it.
