Chapter 21 Fire and an old friend.
Before entering the town Yugi, Danny, and Jazz saw smoke coming from a building.
"Whats going on?" Jazz asked worried for the safety of the people.
"I don't know but I'm not standing around and not helping." Danny replied while speeding up. Yugi agreed and followed suit. Arriving at the source Danny and Yugi skidded to a stop at seeing the Comfort Inn in flames. They quickly hopped off the bikes as both Danny and Yugi ran in despite Jazz's yelling at the two of them to stop. Breaking the front door Danny and Yugi saw Duke coming out carrying and leading injured people out of the building. Seeing two other people standing within the flames caused Duke to to see the fiery entities from his visions. Putting that thought aside Duke called out to them.
"There are still other inside!" The two teens nodded their heads as Yugi ran inside while Danny shouted at someone. He then ran in to help Duke with the people he had with him.
+With Yugi+
Yugi headed further inside of the burning inn as he could feel the flames lick his body. He could also feel Atem's presence in the back of his mind.
*Abiou listen to me carefully. These flames aren't natural. I can sense the flames akin to my own. It is clearly demonic. Call upon my powers to control these flames.* Atem stated. Yugi didn't reply to his other half as he took off the shirt he was wearing allowing Atem's power to surge through him as the demonic wings manifested from his tattoo. Yugi extended his hand out as he controlled the flames. Yugi dashed through the hotel looking for survivors. He found several in the far back of the hotel. He knew that he couldn't allow them to see him as he was as he was about to power down Atem's power but, the millennium puzzle began to glow brightly as Yugi could sense that he was not alone. Atem took control as he was in full demonic form growling darkly at the demonic presence that both he and Yugi had sensed.
"Knew that you would show up sooner or later Dark Angel or shall I call you by your true name... Atem." stated a dark voice.
"Azmodeus. Why am I not surprised to see you once again. I see that once again you have escaped from your prison within hell. Are you here for me or someone else?" Atem asked.
"I am after the man known as Wolverine. I believe that you know him once as Dameri. He know goes by the name Duke Devlin." replied Azmodeus. The demon from hell could feel Atem's dark powers surge as the former pharaoh seemed even more dangerous than before.
"I will not allow you to take him." growled Atem as he charged at Azmodeus.
+With Danny and Duke+
Danny could feel and sense Yugi's and Atem's power surge. He could sense that something was wrong. He could feel Phantom's presence stir in the back of his mind.
*It can't be...* the former angel hissed in the back of his mind.
*What? Phantom what is wrong?* Danny asked.
*The person before you. I know him. Back from ancient Egypt. He was the son of the previous millennium necklace owner. His name used to be Dameri.* Phantom stated.
'But then why is Atem's and Yugi's power surging like something is wrong? I don't like this feeling.' Danny thought to himself. A part of him wanted to rush to Yugi's and Atem's side to help him out with whatever he was facing. Danny was so deep in thought that he didn't notice the beam cracking above him as he began to fall.
"Danny watch out!" Duke cried out as he allowed his adamantium claws to come out of his knuckles as he rushed over to where Danny stood. With one quick swipe, he cut the beam completely in half covering Danny with his own body to protect him from the flames. Duke's natural healing abilities allowed him to heal from the fires as it seemed to be getting more intense.
"Thanks. I owe you one." Danny stated as Duke stood back up.
"Don't worry about it. This fire is getting worse." Duke stated as his millennium necklace began to glow as well as Danny's diamond necklace. They could both feel the shift in power.
'Yugi!' Danny thought to himself as he tried to rush towards his friend. Duke's hand grabbed Danny by the arm. "Duke I have to go help him." Danny stated.
"You can't. Not as you are now." Duke replied. This caused Danny to look at Duke in shock.
*It's the power of the millennium necklace. He has foreseen things and somewhat knows. Although his isn't visibly conscious of it. Danny... let me take control. I can sense Atem is close to loosing control. I can help stop him before its too late.* Phantom stated. Danny turned to Duke.
"Duke after all of this is over with I promise you that I will try my best to explain everything. Do you trust me?" Danny asked. Duke nodded his head causing Danny to let out a long soft sigh as he willed his body to transform into Phantom.
+With Atem+
Azmodeus could feel Atem's power growing as he could see his fiery breath begin to chill. Goosebumps lined the demon's skin as he could feel and sense something dark and ominous coming. For the first time possibly within his life Azmodeus was feeling fear. He had heard stories about what the former pharaoh was capable of. But the demon knew that he could not return empty handed as it would mean his life. The shadows seem to leap to life surrounding both Atem and Azmodeus. As words seem to spill from Atem's lips in a language that the demon didn't recognize. Every instinct was calling him to run... flea for his life. The shadows and flames merged together creating a dragon.
"What in the world?" asked Azmodeus.
"Allow me to introduce you to Uria, Lord of Searing Flames. With his powers I will make certain that you don't return. But first tell me who is after Dameri's life?" Atem demanded. Azmodeus considered his options and none of them were promising so he opted for the truth.
"I know not his name but he and Dameri have history and he wishes to finish what he started." Azmodeus said Atem snarled he was slowing losing it and started to attack Azmodeus once again.
+with Duke and Phantom+
Duke was running along side Phantom who was flying rather fast.
"Shit He's losing it we need to get there now." Phantom said taking a sharp right with duke at his heals getting to where Atem and the Demon where. only to find Atem acting like a wild animal slashing and clawing the fiery thing Phantom hadn't stopped until Atem reeled back for another attack. Azmodeus got a face full of shoe knocking him back a foot or two.
"Get the people out of here while keep ugly here busy!" Phantom called out and duke did so in the most interesting way allowing the adamantium claws to come out Duke cut a hole in the wall that lead to the out side and help get them out before returning to Phantom and Atem side. White hellfire danced off of Phantom's hand as he threw it at Azmodeus face all the while he was trying to calm Atem down. He was a bit thankful that Yugi was still conscious and was helping to get his darker half to think and not let his anger cloud his judgement.
*Mou Hitori No Boku (my other self) calm yourself. No one is going to take your friend away from us.* Yugi stated softly letting his light help.
*Listen to your other half Atem. No one will take Dameri from us not after we had found and reunited with him once again.*Phantom stated mentally. By now Duke had returned to both Phantom's and Atem's side. An evil feral grin crossed Azmodeus's face.
"Just the man I was looking for. You are a hard man to track down Wolverine. I have come to get you as your master hasn't finished with you yet!" stated Azmodeus. This caused Atem to lash out as he lost control over his demonic nature. Atem moved so quickly that no one had a chance to react.
"Atem... No!" shouted out Phantom as he watched as the demonic form of Atem fuse together with Uria as the two ripped into the other demon destroying it completely. Images danced in Duke's head as he knew that he had to stop Atem. Duke quickly leapt onto Atem as the former pharaoh sank his fangs into Wolverine's arm. Duke let out a low hiss as he spoke softly into Atem's ear.
"Pharaoh... my pharaoh... please don't give into your dark desires. You are far stronger than this. I know that whatever is coming is possibly the greatest evil the world has ever known. But only you and Phantom can stop it." Duke stated. His millennium item along with the millennium puzzle was glowing brightly. Atem started to calm down enough to let Duke's arm go.
"...D-dameri...?" Atem asked dazed
"Yea its me we need to get out of here before the rest of the building comes down on top of us." Duck said helping Atem to his feet Phantom gave a sigh of relief just as the hall way behind him collapsed. "Lets go before Jasmine try to drag us out of here." Phantom stated going over to the hole that Duke had made. Duke was just behind him with Atem slung on his shoulder who was snarling slightly at the situation.
*you did it to you self Atem. Also I don't think walking would be the grandest of idea's right now.* Yugi depended.
*... I have nothing to say...* Atem stated and fell silent all the while Phantom laughed along with Danny at the former three of them got far enough away as the spirits gave their human hosts control. Yugi's head was still spinning because of what Atem did. Jasmine came around the corner relieved to see her little brother safe as she ran to him scooping him up into her arms.
"Daniel Fenton that was either the bravest thing I have ever seen or the most stupidest. Don't ever do that again as you had me worried to death!" screamed Jazz.
"Sorry Jazz. But you know me... I had to help out. You could say that it is in my nature." Danny stated softly. Danny's words caused Duke to burst out laughing as Yugi rolled his head. The two had to yet explain things to Duke about everything and to find out what happened to him all those years ago.
"If it isn't too much trouble can we head back to the cabin? I am in desperate need of two really strong aspirin." Yugi moaned.
"That sounds like an excellent idea. We have a lot to catch up on." Duke stated. Danny and Jazz nodded their heads agreeing to Yugi's idea.
"But do you think in your condition you are safe to drive Yugi?" Danny asked.
"Duke can drive. I am not even sure if I can remain conscious." Yugi replied.
*Sorry Abiou (partner).* Atem stated softly.
*Its not your fault Mou Hitori No Boku (my other self).* Yugi replied as he slowly climbed onto his bike along with Duke. Danny and Jazz climbed onto Danny's bike. Then the four of them set off. Little did they know that they were being watched.
"You shall be mine once again Wolverine, as I not done with you yet." hissed the mysterious figure.

Dragonstar101: Welcome back everyone.
Scrletfyre: Today on the show we have Duke's mother from his past life. So please welcome Isis to the show. strong*audience claps*
Isis:Thank you for having me.
Dragonstar101: Not a problem. So how does it feel to play this roll?
Isis: Even though it was a very short roll that was seen through a flashback, it feels pretty good.
Scrletfyre: It seems that way with some of the characters we have featured. It isn't like we go out of our way to make some characters feel less appreciated.
Isis: That is understandable. Even though it was a short roll, I feel that your characters who aren't playing an active roll should be happy that they are being used.
