Chapter 23: alter egos revealed
That night Duke stayed with both Danny and Yugi since the hotel he was staying in was burned to the ground. Duke was extremely grateful to the Fenton Family for trying to help him out in the past. But he could feel it through every bone in his adimantium body that same exact feeling that plagued him long ago. Duke wasn't the only one feeling it. Danny's hero complex was kicking into high gear as he could feel something terrible was coming. Hell even Atem could feel it through his power of shadow magic as it was affecting Yugi allowing the young teen to show parts of his vampiric side. Thankfully both Danny and Duke was there. Duke had to give Yugi some of his blood in order for the teen to curb his vampiric desires. Thank heavens for his regenerative healing as he was able to keep Yugi calm and collected. Occasionally Duke would see the millennium necklace glowing showing him a brief vision of the future. He could see through the vision armed ninja's surrounding the cabin. The only thing was that the Fenton family and Solomon Moto didn't know about Danny's and Yugi's alter egos. Duke knew that he couldn't allow Yugi and Danny to risk showing their family the truth about what resides within them. Duke tried to use the power of the millennium item he wore to see all possible outlooks of the future but all he kept seeing was the same vision.
"I think that this thing is broken. All I see is the ninja's surrounding the house." he told both Danny and Yugi quietly. Everyone else had turned in for the night as the three heroes stayed up when they confirmed that something terrible was going to happen.
*No its not... It is just I think that the future events are all going to turn out the same.* Atem hissed mentally. Yugi relayed the message.
"I don't like this. Clearly it is those same ninja's we saw that first night. Could the one known as Deathwatch figure out who we are?" asked Danny.
*I highly doubt it. No human besides those we have allied with know the truth about us.* stated Phantom. This didn't sit well with the two teens. They couldn't run the risk of their family finding out.
"I could always lead them away like I did the last time." stated Duke.
"NO!" Atem and Phantom shouted out through their hosts. This caused Duke to look at the two in confusion.
"They don't want to lose you Duke. Not after reuniting with them. There are only a few that has lived this long that they hold a very close bond with." both Danny and Yugi stated in unison. Duke seemed to understand as he could remember how protective the pharaoh Atem was of him. Atem knew what it was like to be viewed as a monster by others. That is why he didn't tell his people the truth about what he was as only a small select few knew that secret. Of course Duke was one of them, along with Mahad who became the Dark Magician, Phantom who was under the guise of Daniel, and Bakura who had now become Blade.
"This isn't going to end well is it?" Duke asked as he allowed his adimantium claws to sheath out of his knuckles. His millennium necklace was glowing brightly in the dark night.
"Not at all. We will try to get our family to safety in the meantime. Hold them off as much as you can." stated Danny as Duke nodded his head.
Suddenly the group of ninja's stormed into the cabin awaking both families as Danny could hear the shots of out sounded like an ecto-ray gun going off.
'Thank you dad and mom!' he thought to himself as he ran to his parents room. When he rounded the corner he could see both of his parents hovering protectively over Jazz as both were armed with ghost ray blasters. "Mom... Dad!" he shouted out.
"Danny take your sister and get her to safety. We can handle these pajama clad jerks." commanded Maddie as she let out a shot from her ray gun aiming for the ninja that was behind Danny.
"No... I am not leaving you!" he shouted out. That's when he felt it. The same dark feeling as before when they were in the hotel.
"Grandpa!" Yugi shouted out.
*No... Atem... Don't do it! The humans... Our host's family...* Phantom pleaded with the former pharaoh.
*They are after them! They have harmed an innocent! There will be hell to pay!* Atem roared out mentally. Danny noticed that several armed ninja's standing behind his family. He could feel Phantom's rage as if it was his own. He could feel Phantom's powers flowing through him as he unleashed a ectoplasmic blast. Danny's family stared at him wide eyed. That's when several of them managed to grab the Fenton family.
"Danny... Run!" his parents shouted out. But he couldn't, he knew what he had to do just as Yugi did. He had to reveal his alter ego to the family he loved and cared for.
"Please forgive me." Danny stated as tears streaked down his face as Phantom emerged forth shocking the whole Fenton clan. Yugi had done the same causing his grandfather to look at him in sorrow. The older man knew something was up with his grandson but nothing like this.
"Release the hostages!" both Phantom and Atem hissed in low voices. The ninja's didn't seem to listen as they through their shuriken at the two spirits of vengeance. This caused both Fenton and Moto family to scream out. Reacting quickly, Atem and Phantom undid their mystic chains as they whipped the chains intercepting the shurikens that were aimed for them. The ninja's pulled back taking the hostages with them.
"Not so fast!" called out a new voice as the spirits of vengeance watched as another ninja dressed in dark purple and black gear appeared behind one of the ninja's that was holding Jazz. He thrusted his short sword through the ninja releasing Jazz from his captors hold.
"Shriker!" called out Duke.
"Wolverine... protect the girl!" shouted out Shriker. No one noticed that Phantom was the one who reacted the quickest as he became like a ghost phasing through the chaos to grab Jazz. This caused the ninja's to pull back.
"We have what we came for. If you want them back come and find us. Wolverine and Shriker know where. Skulker and Deathwatch are waiting. Don't make them wait long!" stated one of the ninja's as they all threw down bombs that emitted bright lights dazing the four heroes giving them time to escape. When the light cleared you could hear the ghostly and dark cries belonging to both spirits of vengeance.

"Let go of us you monsters!" Maddie shouted struggling to get free so she could get back to the boys. Now that she knew that Duke was a mutant, her son, and his best friend were gods only knows what. She was confused by what she had witnessed Danny become. It still looked like him but it wasn't her little boy.
"Once I'm free, I'll tear you limb from limb! Do you hear me?!" Jack screamed out as he was going to make good on his threats.
"Shut up!" growled the lead ninja. The Fenton family and Mr. Moto had become quite for the remainder of the trip as they were brought to a burned down and destroyed lab which had brand new equipment in it.
"Place the bait in holding cells until its time to spring the trap." some guy in an armor suit said without turning around from his place at a table with a chemistry set. The pajama clad ninja didn't answer and did as told roughly throwing the group into the same cell. The pajama clad ninja left them as he went back towards the front.
"What the hell is going on?" Maddie yelled out receiving no reply. She shivered slightly as Jack wrapped his arms around his wife.
"I think I might know what this is all about." Solomon stated. Both Jack and Maddie Fenton turned towards the older Moto. "Tell me what do you know about the spirits of vengeance?" he asked them. Both Fenton's looked at him in confusion.
"The spirits of vengeance?" they questioned.
"It is an old tale as I am surprised that you haven't heard about it before. I thought with your background of ghost hunting you may have heard about them." stated Solomon as both Fenton's shook their heads. "It has been said that they appear whenever innocent blood has been spilt. Whenever innocent souls have been taken and demand justice. They are more appropriately known as Ghost Riders. These spirits of vengeance reside within human hosts until they are needed."
"And you believe that these spirits are within Danny and Yugi?" questioned Jack. Solomon simply nodded his head.
"Now that I have seen the riders manifest, it also brings about many questions. If those spirits are who I think they are, these guys are in a lot of trouble." Solomon simply stated as he prayed that the kids were alright.
T.V. Announcer: And welcome back to the Riders tribute. And here are you host's Scrletfyre and Drangonstar101. *audience claps*
Scrletfyre *breathless*: Welcome back everyone.
Dragonstar101 *panting*: Sorry that we seem a bit out of breath but we had to elude Skulker.
Atem and Phantom *storm onto the set*: What in the world are you two planning?! Whose idea was it to have both the Fenton's and Mr. Moto taken hostage?
Scrletfyre: It was mine.
Atem and Phantom *growling*: You are so dead! *Danny and Yugi storm onto the stage stopping the two from attacking*
Danny and Yugi *shouting*: Atem... Phantom... You promised not to hurt them!
Atem and Phantom *snarling*: We aren't going to hurt Dragonstar101. Only Scrletfyre!
Scrletfyre *blazing up in fiery aurora*: I have had enough with your threats on me. *shoots Atem and Phantom with the aurora having them transform into chibi children forms. Both break out crying*
Dragonstar101 *shock*: What in the world? Don't you think that you are going a little bit overboard?
Scrletfyre *powering down*: Not at all. I can't help it if my muses have me the idBoth authors ask that you leave your comments and reviews telling us what you think.
