Alright ladies and gents, figured I'd give you an Easter day present. Here's a chapter for you that would most likely never happen in reality. It's pretty much chick flick material haha. So be open minded and enjoy! I rewrote it three times because I just wasn't happy with it but I needed to post it eventually in order for the story to move forward, so here you go! Let me know what you think after!

Disclaimer: James, nor anything Harry Potter will ever be owned by me. Bleh.

I'm thinking it over
The way you make me feel all sexy but it's causing me shame
I wanna lean on your shoulder
I wish I was in love but I don't wanna cause any pain
And if I'm feeling like I'm evil, we've got nothing to gain

Waiting Game, Banks

Chapter Five: The Rebellious

The next couple of days flew by relatively fast. The beginning of the year always brought about it a vigour of students who had promised themselves to do better academically this year. This new found vigour would only last the first couple weeks or so, but the effort was valiant.

Sirius, who had been paying close attention to James behavior over the last couple days, had noticed his either sullen mood. All due in part to Lily's quidditch date with Liam Crosley no doubt. By Thursday evening, he had had enough of his mate's behaviour and had scouted Eva out to help with his predicament.

"Eva, my sweet angle," he cooed when he found her on the Gryffindor common room couch. Her face was buried in a magazine. "No Alice or Lily present?"

Eva chucked her magazine on the table, knowing better than to try and read it when Sirius wanted her attention. That was the thing about Marauders, they always demanded your attention no matter what the situation was. Peace and quiet weren't apart of their vocabulary. "What do you want, Black?"

Sirius plunked down on the table, right on her magazine much to her chagrin. "I have a plan."

"Doesn't that usually involve your three other mates or have I been upgraded to honorary Marauder?" she asked dully.

Sirius skewed his face. "I don't think they would appreciate what I have in mind much. Or maybe he would. Probably after the fact though."

Eva let out a sigh. "He? Alright, what is this plan of yours?"

Sirius smiled his golden smile; the one girls flocked to his feet for. "Sweet! So you know how James and Lily totally have this unsatisfied sexual tension? Or as I like to call it UST. Well I want to do something about it, tonight to be specific. The two of them have a meeting together. Something about Head Duties. I don't really know. I wasn't paying much attention when James told me about it."

Eva considered Sirius' proposal. It was true James and Lily had very palpable UST, as Sirius put it. Maybe if they could just get it out of their system they would finally leave each other alone. "What did you have in mind?"

"Ah, good girl!" Sirius grinned. "It's pretty obvious James is attracted to our dear Lily bean, despite how much he'll deny it. He tries to put up a good front but the poor boy is whipped. We just have to get Lily to realize how attracted to James she really is!"

Eva nodded and bit her lip in thought. "Yeah. Yeah, okay. I like it. But how are we going to get her to realize this?"

Sirius grinned wickedly this time. "By doing something brilliant and sexy."

Lily arrived to the designated room five minutes early. It was a cozy little meeting room with two large windows looking out onto the lake. Setting her bag on the table, Lily pulled out her notes and set up. She had been busy brainstorming the last couple days for school events. A fancy dress party for Halloween in muggle fashion, a Christmas ball, maybe something for Valentine's Day, if Potter didn't veto any of it. She had a suspicious feeling he might just to spite her. If there was one thing James loved to do, it was destroy anything she valued or held in high regard.

Speaking of the devil, James walked in through the door slamming it rather loudly behind him. Lily tried not to roll her eyes as he plopped down across from her. He had taken his robe and sweater off sometime during dinner, his white dress shirt rolled up to his elbows, tie loosened. It was a look that flattered him well. That was about as sweet as Lily would ever get on him.

Stretching the neckline of her sweater, Lily took notice of the rising room temperature for the first time. It was hotter than she had first realized. Pulling her water bottle out from her bag, Lily took a swig of it and cursed silently as some dribbled down her chin. She wiped the rogue water away hastily hoping James hadn't noticed. Setting the offending water bottle down, she turned her attention to James who had been staring at her intensely.

"What?" she asked defensively.

James averted his eyes. Ignoring her comment, he pulled out his notebook from his own bag and slapped it down on the table. "So, what are we to talk about this fine evening?"

Lily was already ahead of him, flipping through her notes to the designated page. "A couple of things. We need to schedule the next meeting with the prefects, preferably within the next week. Permission slips should be coming in for Hogsmeade from the third years then. Also we need to review detention slips as a couple have been filled out incorrectly the last couple days. Ummm…" Lily was biting down on the end of her pen she had picked up when going through her notes. Quills were only necessary for class and a real inconvenience. "We should also brainstorm some ideas for school events. I had a couple in mind that I should run by you. Round schedule is okay for now. And I think that's everything." Lily looked up at James. He was staring intently at her notes. "Anything you wanted to add?" she prompted.

"Nope."

"Okay." Useless git. "What time do you think we should schedule the prefect meeting?"

"Whenever."

"Right. How about next Wednesday? Seven o'clock?"

"Sure."

Lily took a deep breath in. "Alright then, how would you like to gather the Hogsmeade permission slips?"

"Anything works for me."

Lily let a heavy breath out. "Fine. We can get the prefects to do it and collect them at the second meeting."

James shrugged.

"And the detention slips?"

"However you want to deal with it."

Lily slammed her pen down. "Alright, enough is enough. There are two Head students for a reason so do your damn job and participate."

James leaned back and crossed his arms, his shirt stretching across his chest. Had it always been so tight?

"I'm here, aren't I?"

Lily clenched her teeth together. "If only that were good enough. Unfortunately, I'm required to get your opinion on the matters at hand. So for once, give me your damn opinion. Shouldn't be too hard for you."

"Fine. Yes to everything you've said so far. We can post a demo detention slip on the prefects board so they know how to properly fill them out. I'm assuming you're going to want to have a Halloween fancy dress party. You're always blabbering on about it this time of year so sure. A Christmas ball? Why not. And Valentine's Day monograms. Because who doesn't love that. And while we're at it, why not massive scavengers hunt for Easter? Nothing like first years hopped up on sugar for a week straight." James finished by running a hand through is hair. His bicep seemed to fight against the fabric of his shirt Lily noticed unwillingly. Stop staring. Stop staring, you stupid girl. "Did I forget anything?"

"Your manners," Lily mumbled as she scribbled down 'Easter egg hunt' onto her list.

James ignored her and leaned forward in his chair, his weight resting on his forearms. A musky scent filled Lily's nose. A hint of pine mixed with sandalwood. It was utterly intoxicating. Lily leaned away from James, eager to be rid of the scent. This was the arrogant prat Potter, not some dashing knight in shining armour. She felt need to remind herself of that.

"Want to play a game?"

Lily's eyes shot up to James'. "Excuse me?" Her voice was an octave higher than she meant it to be.

James smirked and rubbed his thumb along his jawline in thought. "Don't worry Evans. You get to keep your clothes on."

"Potter! How dare you suggest-"

"Relax Evans. It seems we have this whole room to ourselves for the next fifty minutes. What's a simple game of 20 Questions going to harm anyone?"

Lily blushed furiously at his previous insinuation. Willing her heart rate to calm down, Lily tried to relax the tension in her back. "Okay then, a simple game of 20 Questions. Suppose I can do that. If we can manage to keep it civil of course."

James mouth quirked up at the corners. "I'll go first then. We'll start simple. Favourite colour?"

"Green. You?"

"Really? I wouldn't have pegged you for a green type of girl."

"Reminds me of nature."

"Huh. Mine's red."

Lily scoffed. "Of course it is. A Gryffindor through and through. Alright, favourite book?" James stared at her blankly. "Never mind, favourite vacation?"

"Brazil. Two years ago. You?"

"We drove to Wales once." Lily hoped he wouldn't press her on that one. Her family hadn't had a ton of money to travel. Any vacations were meagre and honest if there were any at all.

"Interesting. Favourite sport?" he asked.

"I really like volley ball. Played all the time every summer," she answered.

"I'll pretend like I know what that is," James responded, his lack of muggle knowledge clearly evident. "Obviously quidditch tops it for me." Pulling at the fabric of his shirt, James looked at Lily. "Your turn."

"Favourite type of music?" she asked as she watched him scratch at his arm. "Is everything alright?" She would be damned if anyone caught her caring for his well-being, but the boy seemed to be slightly distressed.

James pulled hard at his sleeve. "That's two questions."

Lily frowned. "Yeah, but you look like you're struggling. A lot." She said the last two words pointedly.

James was now grasping at his chest rather violently, the fabric clinging to his skin. "This bloody shirt is driving me crazy." Trying to pull it away from his skin, James came up empty handed. The fabric was stretching dangerously across all of his muscles. Lily watched in horror and appreciation as the shirt began to burst at the seams. "What the-?" The shirt seemed to be shrinking, and shrinking quickly at that. The hem was now up to his belly button, exposing smooth muscle beneath. The buttons threatened to give way now, dangerously close to their breaking point. Trying to grab purchase of the fabric, James's shirt ripped along the seams completely as his biceps flexed. His chest was the next to break free, his torso being liberated last.

Lily stared at the horrified James, a look of incredibility on her face. He sat there shirtless, tatters of white fabric by his feet. All that remained was his tie.

"You just- you just pulled a reverse Hulk!" Lily finally stammered out. Her eyes drunk in the very delicious and shirtless James Potter. A furious blush covered her face, nearly matching the shade of her hair. He's a prat, he's a prat, he's a prat! "How the hell…" but she was at a loss for words.

James was apparently too. The only thing stopping him from bolting out the room was the hungry look in Lily's eyes. It was utter appreciation, desire, and embarrassment all mixed together. He would kill to have her look at him like that every day.

His ego being fed vigorously, James became increasingly confident and more pleased by the second. Leaning back, James relaxed into his chair. The look Lily was giving him was incredible and if the price was the expense of one of his better shirts, so be it.

"My shirt has apparently rebelled." Lily's hand shot to her face as she averted her eyes. Oh how James was enjoying this much unexpected but brilliant situation. He wasn't sure what the right word for it was, cliché maybe? No, that didn't sound right but it was close.

Lily had found a spot on the ceiling which had become incredibly fascinating in the last five seconds. She channelled all her energy onto it. "Apparently so. How defiant of it," she squeaked.

"Indeed. Now I believe you previously asked me my favourite type of music. I'm a bit of a sucker for classic rock but I don't mind some of the new stuff they play on the radio these days. EDM I think the muggles call it."

Lily was thinking fast now, her interest for the ceiling diminishing quickly. Bolt out the door or stand her ground? James seemed completely content now with the current situation. He seemed in no rush to be doing anything about it. "Can you stop doing that?" she blurted out before thinking it through. Her eyes met James and a cocky grin flashed across his face.

"What? I'm not doing anything?" he said innocently.

"Stop being shirtless you dolt. Put something on!"

"Eventually," he agreed with a half smile. "I just really enjoy making you uncomfortable."

"I am not uncomfortable," Lily replied weakly. The expression on James' face told her he gathered just as much.

"I think we both know you are. Want to know why? When was the last time you were around someone as good looking as I was shirtless? Oh right, probably never, cause no man in his right mind would willingly want to be with you. Drink it all in Evans, this is as close as you're going to get." The sudden change in his demeanour was unwarranted. James was being cruel and he knew it. It was just something about the way Lily had looked at him with pure desire after all those years of rejection set him off.

Lily burned with hate and resentment. His words had rung true even if he only meant them to infuriate her. Boys avoided her like the plague, making her feel like the world's number one undesirable. It wasn't that she needed a boyfriend to feel complete, just the feeling of being wanted would suffice. A little reassurance every now and then. She got enough strife at home from her sister. She didn't to feel unwanted here either.

Looking for a distraction, Lily dropped her pen on the ground shamelessly. She used the time bending over to collect herself. Her eyes were burning and she refused for him to see how badly his words had burned.

James was adored by anyone and everyone. His mere presence had girls tripping over their feet for him. Professors were easily swayed by his boyish charm and the marks followed in suit. Everything was practically handed to him on a silver platter, his initials engraved on it in gold. The word struggle didn't even exist in his vocabulary. Put spoiled and good looks together, it equalled one selfish, entitled prick. His type probably couldn't even fathom what she had been through, nevertheless what she was going through.

It was all she could do to reassure herself; list the few good qualities she possessed. She struggled for the words, however, her self-worth having always been low. She was organized, respectful of her peers, academic, loyal, and trustworthy. There, that was a start. James May have had his good looks but his personality ruined everything that followed. If only he knew how to filter the things he said and the way he acted.

Feeling slightly superior in morality, Lily straightened back up, pen safely on the table. Before she could make her exist from this disastrous situation, however, Lily was met with a smack in the face. James' Gryffindor tie slithered down to the table and landed in her lap. Lily stared down at it, her emotions a hectic turmoil. "You God damn prick," she merely whispered to herself. He was only proving her point.

"You want the pants to come off next?" James wore a wicked grin on his face. He knew he was pushing her buttons. It was only a matter of time before she cracked completely and he would be subject to a front row seat of her epic meltdown.

"You want your head to come off next?" Lily wore an dangerous look on her face now. "I can do that for you easily." There. She could do this. Play with wit to win over the situation. It took the stress off of her internal crisis.

James absentmindedly rubbed his neck. "I think I'm good on that front. But speaking of head-" his sentence was never completed as Lily's pen smacked him in the nose. "Ow."

"Hm. I missed. Next time I'll aim better for the eye though," Lily promised as she leaned back. "I think we're done here anyways." She was ready to bolt now.

James, however, was taking his sweet time. He had retrieved Lily's pen from where it had fallen on his lap. "Interesting," he said as he examined it closely.

Lily felt a twinge of annoyance dating back to her primary school days. A pen taken was a pen never returned. "Give it back, Potter. I have other place to be."

James ignored her and reached for a piece of parchment paper. He squiggled a line experimentally, amused and delighted at how easily it wrote. "And no ink bottle to dip into? Brilliant," he mumbled to himself. He was stalling. Partly because he was pleased with how irritated she seemed and partly because he wasn't done being in her presence yet.

"Seriously, I have to go so give it back now," Lily spoke again. She leaned forward when James pulled back, the pen just out of her reach. He wore a look of wicked amusement.

"What are you willing to do for this?" he asked. Lily made for another grab, coming up empty handed. James pushed his chair back and stood up, encouraging Lily to do the same.

She huffed and followed, annoyed but motivated to collect. "I am not playing this childish game of yours," she demanded.

James held the pen high above his head, using his full height to his advantage. "Then I guess you're never getting your thing back."

"Pen, Potter, it's called at pen."

"Then I guess you're never getting your pen back," he tried again.

Lily moved forward, arms on her hips. For a moment she reminded James of a scolding mother ready to reprimand her child. "Those things get lost easily. I went through twelve of them in one semester last year and you can't find them anywhere in the wizarding word. So please give it back!" This was a matter of principle, she told herself as she lounged again for the pen. James sidestepped easily, diverting her attempt.

"How much do you reckon I could sell this for? Imagine never having the ink bottle spill all over your homework again! Kids will be lining up for this thing!" Lily wasn't sure if James was being serious or just trying to annoy her. Either way, she was equally pissed.

"I will ask you politely one more time. Potter, please give my pen back." To Lily's shock, James outstretched his hand toward her, pen ready for her grabbing. Reluctantly, Lily mirrored him, hand forthcoming to take what was rightfully hers.

Just as she was about to make contact, James stumbled forward. Lily was thrown backwards as he collided with her, her back connecting hard with the floor. A heavy weight slammed against her chest, the air escaping her lungs violently. James was on top of her, clearly as confused as she was.

"Gerroff me," she squeezed out between wheezes.

James was on his elbows instantly, a look of deep concern in his hazel eyes. "I swear I did not do that on purpose!" The words were out of his mouth before she could insinuate anything. His arms bulged to keep his weight off of her, his chest aligning with hers. She could feel his rib cage rising and falling rapidly with his breath. His legs intertwined with hers. At this close distance, Lily could make out the stubble that peppered his jaw, his glasses askew from the fall.

James himself was a bundle of nerves. The girl he had fantasized about for years was underneath him in all her glory. Her red curls blanketed the floor, her lips only inches from his. He could see the look of surprise and dismay written across her face. But there was something else too. Before he could recognize it, Lily had placed both her hands on his chest. The contact sent a violent shiver across his body before she began shoving. Taking her heed, James pulled himself off of her and extended a hand out to help her up. Lily ignored it and pushed herself off the ground.

"The hell was that, Potter?" she yelled.

James stumbled back a few steps, not ready to be pulled out of his fantasy turned reality. "I didn't do it!" he blurted out. "I swear I would never try anything like that on you." Not without her consent, of course. But the look she was giving him told him she believed otherwise. "I swear it! Something pushed me from behind."

"The same thing that shrunk your shirt?" Lily's arms were crossed now. Her weight had shifted to one hip.

James could only shrug. He had no idea what was going on, no more than Lily did. "None of this was my doing. I'm only ever talk, no play with you!" A look of pure innocence riddled his face. "You have to believe me on this one!"

"I'm not really sure what to believe! First your shirt combusts and then you're on top of me half naked! But not before you insult me, god forbid! I have absolutely no idea what to make of this!" She was angry and justifiably so. She had half a mind to slap him right then and there, knock some sense into him.

"I realize it looks suspicious but I would never sink to that level," he tried to defend himself.

Lily's face became incredulous. "That level, hey? What, I'm not good enough for you?" She wasn't sure where she was going with this anymore. Words were just angrily tumbling out of her mouth in a frantic haste. "The great Potter would never bother with someone like me? Of course not! And why would you? You made it perfectly clear I was useless and a perfectly good waste of space. Your message was received, loud and clear!"

James realized how his words had sounded as soon as they left his mouth. He only meant he would never take advantage of her sexually. He had only ever dreamed of being with her for years in a romantic sense. She was taking everything the wrong way and running off into the distance with it.

"That's not what I meant! At all! You're twisting my words!" How could he get her to see reason?

"Bullshit! I know exactly what you meant! It's what you've been saying for years. So fine! I give in. You want me gone? I'm out! Don't bother coming to the next meeting, or any other meeting after that. I can handle it myself. You get to enjoy the title of being Head Boy but I'll do all the work. That's how it's always worked for you anyways!"

James squirmed under her gaze. No matter what he said, Lily would find some way to twist his words. He just couldn't win. He let her know so. "Is there any way to win with you?"

That was apparently the wrong thing to say. "You and your God damn games." With one last scornful look, Lily was out the door, leaving a very defeated James behind.

James sulked all the way to the Gryffindor common room. He had repaired his shirt with a quick wave of his hand and returned it to normal size after Lily had left. He couldn't remember a time she had been so angry and upset with him, and they had had many rows to consider from.

Upon entering the tower, he was ambushed rather quickly by Sirius. "So?"

James stared at his friend with a blank expression. "So what?"

Sirius huffed and rolled his eyes. "So, how did your meeting go? I'm surprised your still wearing your shirt actually."

James froze as the realization rolled over him. "You."

"Yes, me," Sirius said confidently.

"You, you, you-"

"You amazing son of a bitch?" Sirius offered for him.

James had to exercise maximum control not to strangle him. "Son of a bitch is right."

Not realizing James' tone, Sirius was growing more excited by the minute. "Right? I had the idea to shrink your shirt. bloody brilliant if you ask me! But Eva takes credit for knocking you into her."

Counting to ten, James took his time to calm down. Sirius was too busy congratulating himself to notice the growing tension. "I will kill you. Not now cause I'm tired and extremely annoyed, but I will kill you." Before Sirius could ask him why, James was off to his old room. He wasn't even going to bother returning to the head dorm. He and Lily clearly needed some space and he needed time to figure out how to deal with Sirius. All in good time, he promised himself. All in good time indeed.
