A/N: Things might get a bit tricky here! Please bear with me, let me know if any of the new characters are OOC (or if I got any details wrong O-o)
The appearance of the Elitists will be brief just because there are already so many characters, though they will appear in other stories :). They'll also come in waves, so I don't overwhelm you guys XD. They'll come in with a bang, to show you them in action, but after the first half or so they might be written back out for now. It depends; I generally do these notes before the story begins to write itself, so I may find a way to make everything work.
I have a feeling I'm not going to like this chapter.
The room quieted as the chief stepped up the aisle. Deiya was wringing her hands, looking over at OHiccup and his girlfriend. Sure enough, the blonde was helping out the young chief, who was beginning to hyperventilate. The Elitist frowned a bit before reaching for a small object in her pocket. She tossed it into his trembling hands.
"Eat it; it'll help you calm down."
"A Kit...Kat?" The man read, confusion already drowning out his nerves. He shrugged and opened it, snapping half of it off for his girlfriend to try. As they began to munch on the candy bar contentedly, they heard the familiar sound of swooping dragons' wings at the back of the room.
Two girls appeared, one on a Nadder and the other riding a Stormcutter. Hopping from their respective companions, the two introduced themselves.
"I'm Kit!" The girl on the Nadder began, waving to the group. Kit moved over to Deiya, as her friend introduced herself.
"...and I'm Kat!" She too joined the Elitist.
Deiya giggled at the various looks she was receiving from the riders in the room. "These two are some of the members of the Elite Rider Department. They came to, well, to deal with you." All heads turned to Stoick as she gestured blindly towards him.
"And what does that mean?"
OHiccup stepped up timidly, not wanting to make the situation any weirder. "If you stay, you're not going to like what you see. Trust me, I still have a hard time with it..." While Stoick squared up, unaware of who the older two were, the teens all clenched their seats. What was going to happen, if oHiccup was so scared of Stoick seeing it.
"Oh, and who might you to be?" The younger version of his son took it upon himself to elaborate.
"Dad, that's me and Astrid in five years..."
After checking him up and down to see if it was the, he clutched his heart. "How can this-"
Deiya had had enough. "Listen, okay- I'm Deiya, I'm the mastermind behind this little party of confusion. I can explain everything in a bit, but I need to know how you got here."
"Well, when my son abandoned the job is assigned-"
"I highly doubt this is considered 'abandonment'...plus I thought no time was supposed to pass?!"
"-I went to get rid of that weird egg myself. As soon as I touched it, I came here..."
"Alright, that's fixable. Kit, Kat," they perked at the mention of their names. "Can you go get rid of the portal? I didn't close it properly, so it looks like just about anyone can get i-" She was cut off by the sound of more footsteps. The Elitist leader rolled her eyes. "Who now?!"
As if on cue, Gobber strolled up the aisle. He grinned cheekily, taking a seat with no questions asked. Twiddling his thumbs, he was forgotten as the conversation marched on.
"Okay, as I was saying, I need you two to close the portal. If these two got in, it means I must have done something wrong in my hurry. That means..."
Kat finished for her, gasping. "...that it'll be opened in the other timeline now!"
"Exactly! If anyone from, er, older Hiccup's time gets through, it could be even more chaotic. Not to mention the fact that apparently the portal from little Hiccup's time is right in the middle of the town. Anyone might show up-"
Again, she jinxed herself. Kit could be seen counting heads as half of Hiccup's village came pouring through the door, dazed and intrigued. Deiya muffled a scream with her fist.
"Scratch that, I need you two with me. Get Lola and Jordan in here." The last command was aimed at the two dragons the Elitists had rode in on. They nodded their scaly heads before flying out to find the requested members.
Another figure could be seen walking through the doors, and Deiya almost flipped out until she saw it was a familiar face.
"Chancey! Thank goodness! I need you to start policing the Vikings...we're having a bit of difficulty. Kit, Kat, I need you two to begin explaining everything to the Vikings as soon as they're settled. The three set out with a quick salute as they scurried to fulfill their duties. Kit and Kat's Nadders then reappeared, carrying the two requested members of the ERD.
"Perfect! Thanks!" She scratched them both affectionately, then turned to offer commands. "Okay, I need to send you both out to make sure that no one else gets through those portals, or else more-" Deiya couldn't help it. She screamed as another small horde of Vikings and even some dragons waltzed right in. Everything was a mess, even with the teens now helping the Elitists to usher everyone into a decorum. At least no one had asked questions about why there was a future Hiccup and Astrid a few heads turned to her, eyes attempting to ask what her problem was, she yelled at the top of her lungs; in the process, she silenced the noise of the room. "Might as well make it a party, then!" She clapped thunderously, wide eyes all around, and the rest of Berk was instantly brought into the room. Unfortunately she got a bit carried away; she had transported none other than the "deceased" wife of the chief, from oHiccup and oAstrid's time.
"Uh oh..." Deiya muttered, rushing off to hide her from view, as well as the two younger Vikings of the future. Soon all the Elitists had returned, and helped to corral the town into the seats. After taking a deep breath, and receiving supporting looks from the Elitists, she addressed the Hooligans.
"Ok. Sorry, everyone. You might feel a bit tingly, but don't worry about it; you won't recall a thing." She beckoned forth Kat, who began an incantation under her breath.
"Alright," she said, finishing her chant. The group that were to be sent back now seemed exceptionally tired, and a little tipsy. "I'm going to need help sending them all away, though..."
"Perhaps I can be of assistance?"
"Summer!" Deiya just about cried, happy to be provided with even more relief. The girl flew in, riding a Night Fury, and landed to help send away the excess spectators.
Once the group was back home, Toothless came up and sniffed the dragon. He tilted his head, utterly confused.
Summer laughed, and provided an answer for his unspoken question. "Well, since we can time travel, there's an alternate timeline where...well, say hi to your daughter!"
He perked, playing with the other animal, until Summer called her away.
"Alright, thanks guys! I don't know what I'd do without you!"
"Scream."
"Cry.
"Yell."
"Faint."
"Explode."
"Die."
"Thanks." Deiya deadpanned, before laughing along with the six riders; they were right, to be fair. She saluted, and they did the same. In a flash, they had all hopped on their dragons and flown out.
"Whew. That was...intense?" She turned to the young teens and the chief, who all looked terrified. "Heh. Sorry. Oh, yeah! I have to introduce you..." She pulled Valka and the other two from their hiding spot and brought them over.
"Well, I mean, you already know them but whatever. Stoick, meet your future family..." They waved awkwardly, before reclaiming their seats. Valka and Stoick couldn't keep their eyes off each other, both looking as though they'd seen a ghost; as far as they were concerned, they had.
"Shouldn't we get back to the movie? I don't think Stoick's going to leave for whatever you didn't want him seeing..." Fishlegs pointed out, Stoick's set jaw showing he was right. Now that his wife was here, there would be no convincing him. Deiya clapped, and the movie rolled once more.
[Drago's ship sails, Drago striking a chain with his bull hook. At the stern, the riders and Eret are about to walk the plank.]
Snotlout: Could this day get any worse?
Tuffnut: Uh, let me see. You'll jump into freezing cold water and then die from drowning.
Eret: Looks refreshing. Please, ladies first.
"Stormfly took a dart for this jerk? I can't believe it!" Astrid huffed, oAstrid surpressing a smirk. OHiccup had to fight a smile as well, seeing his younger counterpart baffled.
"Man, I'd been so sure he's changed his mind!"
Astrid: You are a steaming heap of dragon-
Eret: Duck.
[Eret knocks Drago's soldiers unconscious and unchains himself.]
"Woo! Is there any way he isn't perfect?!"
Now that he had proved himself alright, Astrid giggled and poked her friend. "So, you go for older men, hm?" This guy was obviously at least five years their senior. Ruffnut grinned mischievously, snickering along with the other blonde girl.
Soldier: Warn the others!
"Or, y'know, you could not..." OHiccup suggested, raising his eyebrows in request. Stoick kept turning to the man- that was so weird to think about- that was standing before him. He was still Hiccup, it seemed, just all grown up. And then there was Valka. Oh, sweet Val. Why she hadn't returned if she was alive this whole time he didn't know; he assumed she had an ulterior motive, though it still stung a bit.
Hopefully she would return to him.
Ruffnut: Get 'em, you son of an Eret!
[Eret knocks out the rest.]
Ruffnut: Okay, I love you again.
"You got that right!" Ruff winked, making her brother scream into his helmet in anguish.
"Make her stop! I'd rather eat my dad's left boot!"
Stoick snorted, very unlike a chief should, and blushed when his wife looked at him in interest. She decided that the seat beside him looked exceptionally comfortable, and moved over to join him.
"You've done a wonderful job with our little Hiccup." She whispered, staring into his green eyes with her own, compassion evident in her voice. Delicately she laced her fingers with his, smiling even brighter.
"Only because he reminds me so much of you. I wouldn't have known what I'd do if he were as big of a-"
"Stoick!" Valka shook her head in interruption, laughing.
"-As I am."
"Oh, you..." Val remarked lovingly, staring even deeper into his eyes. "Well, now. Let's watch this movie." They smiled one final time before turning back their attention.
[Snotlout looks hurt]
Tuffnut: Ugh. Pathetic. You can still jump.
"Girls of Berk 2, Snotlout 0." Astrid joked, high fiving her future self, as both Hiccups sent their cousin a sympathetic glance. Ruff had began applauding her brother, who was continuing to urge his friend to jump. Fishlegs looked surprisingly disheartened, yet pleased at the same time. Stoick and Valka were too busy returning each other's loving glances to pay attention to the teens.
Eret: So, are we going to save your dragons and get out of here or not? [Astrid nods] Check every trap. They're here somewhere.
[Astrid checks a trap and finds Meatlug.]
Astrid: Meatlug?
"Meatlug!" Fishlegs whimpered, glad at least that his dragon was being rescued. Hiccup eyed OHiccup, both disgusted by the thought of trapped dragons.
Eret: Anyone coming?
Ruffnut: I don't know, you just keep doing what you're doing. Keep cranking.
"Great lookout skills, Ruff. Glad to see your training really pays off in the future." Hiccup deadpans, oHiccup rolling his eyes and Stoick staring at the now sheepish girl sternly.
Eret: (To Stormfly) Thank you for saving my life. [Stormfly pushes her head to Eret's hand] Now let me return the favor.
Hiccup was smiling widely at the screen, enjoying the bonding. Perhaps they could even convince the man to adopt his own...? As if reading his thoughts, which wouldn't surprise him after all that'd happened that day, Deiya spoke up. Unlike the last few times, she seemed a bit cold and distant.
"He gets a dragon in the end." Hiccup noticed his future counterpart look at his dad, before looking down sullenly.
[The dragon's den]
Hiccup: Mom, you'd never even recognize it, where we used to make weapons, we now build saddles, wing slings, we even fix dragon teeth. You wouldn't believe how much everything's changed.
Stoick: Your son's changed Berk for the better. I think we did well with this one, Val.
"Oh, now doesn't that sound familiar." Speaking loudly for the first time, and laughing along with Stoick, it seemed to just occur to Hiccup that he had a mom. In the room. Sitting inches away.
He snuck over, a gleam of curiosity never leaving his eye, and sat beside his mom and dad. That was weird to think about. Toothless came over to the young version of his teen and sat as well, momentarily making for one happy family.
A second of hesitation, and then Hiccup decided he needed it; he leaned in for a hug from his long-lost mother, relaxing a bit when she returned it. They smiled softly, before Hiccup returned to his girlfriend.
"Oh, hey, Astrid; I think you might have some dirt in your eyes..." He joked, though he stopped in shock when he noticed the other teens were teary-eyes as well. He hadn't meant to be so public about that...oh well.
Hiccup: Thanks Dad.
Stoick saluted his son and the boy's future counterpart, acknowledging that those were indeed his true thoughts.
[Valka drops the fish. Cloudjumper eats it before Toothless can. Cloudjumper regurgitates some of it for Toothless.]
"That's incredible! Sharing?!" Fishlegs squeaked, mouth stuck in a slack-jawed state.
Stoick: Oh, ha-ha. I got it.
Valka: I'm a little out of practice.
OHiccup looked at his mom, raising an eyebrow; now that he wasn't blinded by excitement, it looked more like she was referring to his touch than serving food. She shrugged, and he took it as a confession.
Stoick: Well, you know… I didn't marry you for your cooking.
"-and gods forbid I marry you for yours!" OHiccup teased, getting an elbow in the gut in return. Wheezing, yet still managing a chuckle, he looked up at his girlfriend; she seemed like she was really trying to be offended and annoyed, though it wasn't working. "Worth...it." He managed to breathe out.
Stoick beamed at the two, glad that in just a few short years they'd be so close. He started thinking about marriage, and then Hiccup becoming chief, and the two having children together...
"Grandbabies. I want grandbabies."
"Dad, what?!" Hiccup practically screamed, he and Astrid instinctively scooting away from each other. Valka tried not to snort as she smacked him across the back of the head, silently agreeing.
"Did I say that last bit out loud...?"
"Yeah, sorry, you did. I totally agree, though." Deiya looked at the older pair, a goofy grin plastered on her face. It flipped into a frown, as she continued her thought. "I guess it is up to them, though..."
"Oh, gee, thanks." OAstrid grimaced, though she didn't go as far as backing away from OHiccup. He rolled his eyes at the crowd, used to this kind of pressure by this point; well, more so than before.
Gobber: I hope not, her meatballs could kill more beasts than a battle axe. I've still got a few knocking around in here. Ha-ha.
"I told him not to taste them until I perfected my recipe!" Valka scoffed, putting her hands on her hips. Stoick chortled, eying her.
"If that were the case, he'd have starved to death." As Hiccup laughed with the others, he couldn't help but keep staring at the two as a couple. If things stayed in his favor, this was going to be a great movie...
Of course, he is Hiccup; something was bound to happen soon.
[Gobber takes a bite, grimaces in disgust, and feeds the rest of his plate to Grump]
"For a man in his mid-fifties, he behaves like a ten year old..." Val grumbled, good-naturedly.
Hiccup: And once you move back in with all your dragons, oh Drago won't stand a chance. Everything will be okay!
"Sorry. I got excited." OHiccup blushed, his younger self following suit. Only, instead of the expected mockery for taking things a bit fast, he turned to see more...what had Deiya called it? Fangirling? All the Vikings were either getting teary eyed, smiling like dorks, or flapping their arms like a baby Nadder stuck in a crosswind.
"Stop. Being. So. Cute. Adnogkormesmcne." OHiccup had no clue why Deiya was spazzing out, or how she had recovered pretty much instantly, but he decided he really didn't like this. He was about to ask if she was okay, when Hiccup interrupted him.
"So, everything seems perfect. How did I jinx it this time?" Though beginning his sentence in an upbeat manner, he dropped his tone to one of irritation as he realized his mistake. Whenever he points out how good he has something, it always messes it up.
Stoick: Slow down son, it's a lot to take in.
"That's for sure..." The Haddock boys said in sync, not even flinching at the fact that they were thinking the same thing.
Hiccup: Oh, gotcha.
"Sometimes I swear you're four." Astrid teased, the twins laughing at the man who now was acting only slightly more matured than they usually did.
"To be fair, my birthday's on a leap year..." Hiccup shot right back, laughing.
"So?" Snotlout seemed to be one of the few not enjoying the movie.
"Technically, I could say that in this movie I'm only 5."
The teens lost it at this, even Snotlout, and without another word they all returned to the screen.
[Stoick begins to whistle "For the dancing and the Dreaming"]
Gobber: Oh, I love this one.
Stoick stood, in a daze, and held out a hand to Valka. Hiccup looked genuinely confused, especially when he saw how excited his future counterpart was becoming. Deiya was flipping out once more, and rushed over to where OHiccup and his girlfriend were, forcing them up and into the same position.
Toothless was even getting in on the excitement, nuzzling Deiya and crooning. She smiled, a hint of mischief apparent, and scratched his scaly head.
"What's all this-?" Astrid voiced, seeing as her friends couldn't find the words.
"Vikings at their finest." Was all she got in reply from the Elitist. OAstrid was just as confused. She whispered into her slightly stunned boyfriend's ear.
"No, seriously, what is this...?"
"Just follow my lead, I guess?" He whispered back. Without further adieu, they let the screen continue.
Stoick: Remember our song Val?
"A song? That's so sweet!" Fish said in a mix of a mumble and whisper. The teens couldn't help but agree.
I'll swim and sail on savage seas. With ne'er a fear of drowning, and gladly ride the waves of life if you will marry me. No scorching sun, nor freezing cold will stop-
Gobber: Will stop me on my journey, sorry. [Hiccup and Stoick both glare at Gobber]
"I don't think I've ever seen you more pissed, honestly...even earlier, when you were alone on Toothless." Astrid was barely able to keep her voice down, trying exceptionally hard to not laugh. It was kind of weird, seeing him mad, but kind of amusing as well. It just didn't fit, and she hoped it never would. Instead of her Hiccup responding, it was the other, who seemed to tense a bit.
"Yeah, that's just the tip of the iceberg..." He shuddered, wishing he hadn't brought himself to think about ice. Shaking his head, he refocused on OAstrid.
Stoick: If you will promise me your heart and love…
"Woah, is she not going to do it?!" Tuffnut gasped, Ruffnut gaping as well. They were answered as the movie continued.
Valka: And love me for eternity. My dearest one my darling dear your mighty words astound me but I've no need of mighty deeds when I feel your arms around me
Stoick and Valka began their dance, as OHiccup led his own love out to mirror them. Both pairs danced gracefully, surprising Hiccup who didn't think that was in his vocabulary. It truly was a sight to behold.
Stoick: But I would bring you rings of gold
I'd even sing you poetry [Valka: Oh, would you?]
The entire group of teens laughed and cheered, as the dancing groups smiled enjoying themselves. Deiya was humming along with Toothless, though together they kind of sounded like a diseased narwhal.
And I would keep you from all harm
If you would stay beside me
Valka: I have no use for rings of gold, I care not for your poetry. I only want your hand to hold
Stoick: I only want you near me
Stoick and Valka: To love to kiss to sweetly hold. For the dancing and the dreaming, through all life's sorrows and delights I'll keep your love inside me. I'll swim and sail on savage seas with ne'er a fear of drowning and gladly ride the waves of life if you will marry me.
More cheering, as they finished their cute little dance. OAstrid stopped abruptly at those last few words; her boyfriend cocked his head in unspoken questioning.
A kiss answered for her, and the crowd erupted. Things, if only for now, were pretty great.
Gobber: Me-eee-e. I'm still goin'. [Hiccup elbows Gobber] I'm done.
"Sheesh, don't mess with you, huh Hiccup?" Snotlout teased. Both rolled their eyes playfully, and waited for the movie to continu. All the future Vikings knew that things were about to go downhill.
A/N: There we go! Sorry, had to squeeze the proposal in there because I couldn't resist. There won't be many more chapters, it seems...
But I will make them as good as possible!
Hope you enjoyed, let me know what you think please! (Ayyy One of my longer chapters!)
