A/N: Here we go! Last chapter! Sorry it took so long, I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to happen here. I was expecting to have this up months ago, so sorry if I misinformed anyone who asked about this. Anyway, I'll start the sequel soon. If there's anything else you want me to react to, like Boneknapper or GotNF, just let me know! I'm still not happy with this, but I really need to get back to writing. Everything else I've writing has been suffering from neglect, too.
Any ERD members in this chapter asked explicitly to be brought back in for this last chapter, and even had preferred scenarios. Sorry to the others who weren't featured as prominently, but I tended to forget who was where with all the characters. If you haven't noticed, I also tend to forget about Toothless quite a bit, because most of my writing seems dialogue based. I apologize in advance.
"So that was...something." Snotlout coughed awkwardly, the others nodding in agreement. Deiya giggled at their murmurs, before taking initiative.
"Any questions? I'm looking at you, Fishlegs..." She teased, before raising her eyebrows in surprise; it was actually Astrid who raised her hand.
"When do we, um..." She gestured between herself and Hiccup, blushing and clearly uncomfortable with the idea. Despite being vague, the others understood and snickered at the pair; the older pair of the two found it especially amusing.
Deiya sighed. "You're like eighteen or nineteen, officially speaking. I don't know how it happens yet, but whatever." Astrid seemed to sulk a bit, but if she was disappointed she was quick to cover it up. Deiya smiled, motioning to the future Vikings. "I'll leave the rest up to these three."
"O-Kay...is it as bad as we thought? Y'know, being chief or whatever?" Hiccup asked OHiccup, squirming under the sympathetic looks from the others. He always despised being called upon as interim chief, though he always did reasonably well for a teen.
"Not really, no. But do yourself a favor and pay more attention to dad; he really is just trying to help, and I don't remember half of his chiefing lessons..." The older boy blushed a bit, the twins snickering at him.
"I'm here now, aren't I?" Stoick beamed, walking away with OHiccup to discuss some pointers on chiefing. By the way they each kept grinning as the conversation rolled on, it appeared that the new chief was doing things perfectly. Eventually OAstrid joined the two, seemingly embarrassing her boyfriend with stories of his excellent leadership.
"Alright then. Anyone else?" Valka asked gently, not quite sure yet how to act around the teens. Her nephew spoke up first, staring her down with interest.
"How's it feel to know your son is such a dork?" He asked, somehow managing a straight face. The twins's snickers grew into a fit of hysterics, and Astrid bopped him on the head.
Hiccup just rolled his eyes when his mother sent him a questioning look. "Oh, yeah. Definitely feeling the love."
"How'd you learn how to interact so well with Toothless? You've never met a Night Fury before, right?" Fishlegs asked the woman, smiling at the relieved look she shot him. "You were even able to tell how old he was!"
"Some tricks I've learned are universal; they'll work with just about any dragon if you can manage to approach them calmly enough. Maybe someday I'll teach you."
"Mrs Haddock?" Valka turned with surprise as Astrid spoke up tentatively, very unlike the fiery woman she knew back at home. "If you hadn't found Hiccup, would you have ever come back…?" The others stopped, eying Hiccup and his mother. The boy had sucked in a breath, obviously uncomfortable. Valka was not much better off, tapping her seat nervously.
"N-no. I can't say I would've. I had thought Hiccup would be much better off without me, and I wouldn't have seen otherwise if he hadn't shown me firsthand." The older woman searched her son, apologizing with her gaze in a way words couldn't. His own green eyes seemed to offer the forgiveness she sought after, as they soon straightened up and returned to the conversation.
OAstrid sauntered back over to where the young teens were, and took a seat. Hiccup felt his face heat up a bit as he took her in, the lights now on in the room. He hadn't realized he'd been staring until he felt two hands lay down on his shoulder. Looking up he recognized two Elitists from earlier; Kit and Kat, if he wasn't mistaken.
"Ooh, you like her! Don't cha?" Kit trilled, poking his rib and talking just loudly enough where he and the older woman could hear. She pretended not to, off course, wanting to see how far this would go and how uncomfortable he could become.
"Isn't she just stunning?" Kat sighed, batting her eyes before pretending to swoon. Kit caught her just in time, the two snickering as Hiccup's bashful expression was drowned out by his pink cheeks.
"Y-yeah." He admit to them, dropping his gaze to the floor. Finally OAstrid decided to speak up, fighting back a grin.
"I heard that."
Hiccup glared at the two girls laughing on the floor, not meeting OAstrid's eyes. "Oh, for Thor's sake, just get up…" He grumbled in embarrassment.
"Nope, it's kinda nice down here. It's got a nice view of the show." Kat shook her head, Kit nodding sharply in agreement. "Oh, and by the way. Astrid's standing right above you."
Hiccup looked up to see the older version of the girl peering down at him with a mischievous smile and a determined look about her. "Astrid! Hi, hey Astrid. Astrid, hi. Hi, Astrid…" Hiccup wanted to slap himself for stuttering. It had been ages since he'd done that to her.
"Aw, so ickle Hicky-kins does have a crush!" Kit cooed, Kat's laughter so loud that it was amazing none of the others paid her any mind. "Maybe if you play nice she'll give you a nice big smooch!"
"Hi, Hiccup." OAstrid winked at the girls, but otherwise pretended to ignore them.
"Hi…" As opposed to his earlier stuttering, his voice was now uncooperative and seemed to want to allow no noises to come out. OAstrid laughed at his strangled voice, rolling her eyes.
"I haven't done this for a while, but…" she slugged his arm, though it didn't hurt or leave another bruise. "That's for staring…"
She expected his usual protests, and was all prepared to cut him off with a kiss on the cheek. She wasn't expecting him to punch her right back. He was as careful about it as she was, avoiding pain but still drawing her attention.
"That's for...well, this." He gestured to her, making her eyes go wide. "I can barely handle you now, what am I going to do in a few years when you go all goddess on me?" She laughed at his interesting comment, then finally placed her kiss on his cheek.
"And that's for everything else." She grinned, going back to her seat and leaving Hiccup's heart pumping. How he'd managed to hook up with the only girl that had beauty, brains and some great fighting techniques was beside him. All he knew was that somewhere along he'd gotten the whole package and he sure wasn't letting it go.
Kit and Kat winked at the boy, leaving to go over and converse with their leader. The group shared a few more stories, not having many more questions, when another Elitist popped into the room. Lola, as they all remembered, walked straight up to Deiya and smiled softly.
"The next movie has been prepared. I'm still not sure if you should let Valka see it directly, it might be better just to explain to her in a watered-down sort of way. It's a little brutal."
"Well, she might as well get it directly from the source. And, no offense to her-" she shot the woman a sympathetic look, despite the fact that the others weren't paying her the utmost attention. "If she has a problem with it, she'll just have to realize it's on her for not being there. Not that it's all her fault, but you know what I mean." Neither girl held any bitterness towards the woman, however. She was nothing but lovely to them, and she had her reasons for staying away. To show her agreement, Lola nodded. Unfortunately, this made the hood of her cloak around her face fall back ever so slightly. The twins caught sight from their seats with the others, and made a beeline towards the now-nervous Elitist.
"Hmm. Mighty fine cloak you've got there." Ruffnut smirked, stroking her chin and taking a piece of the garment in between her fingers.
"Yeah, it is. Isn't it kinda hot for one, though?" Tuffnut added on, gripping the other side of the cloak despite everyone's protests.
"We'll do you a favor, and help you cool dow-" The twins spoke in unison, pulling off the cloak. They didn't finish, however, as they witnessed a dragon hybrid standing before them.
"Wow." Snotlout's eyes widened, along with the rest of the Vikings from the past. "Hiccup, you should go train her."
"Hardy har har, Snot." Hiccup tried to keep his voice from fluctuating; in all honesty, he was a little uncomfortable. "But really, shouldn't we be getting to the other movie...?"
Lola pulled her cloak back on over her now-blushing dragonesque features. "R-right. Whenever you're ready, Deiya, we can get the movie rolling."
Deiya snapped, and the dragon riders found themselves seated once more. Another snap, and lights darkened. The other three Elitists took this as their cue to return to base, waving as the Vikings prepared. Deiya smiled and saluted, before turning to the crowd of excited Vikings.
"Let's watch ourselves a movie!"
A/N: Sorry you had to wait so long for such an unsatisfying end. Hopefully the sequel will make up for everything. I'm not sure when I'll have time to work on the first chapter, so please stay tuned. If I get another bad case of writer's block for the WTM, I'll try to at least post another story or something. I'm not sure...the Elitists might not be as prominent in the sequels, mostly because (as I stated before) I'm bad at keeping track of who's where, doing what, and how often they've been speaking. If any ERD members would like to be included in a chapter, please state so so I can know to try and squeeze you in. Until next time!
