Eve couldn't believe it. She had dis-honored Nadia's memory by protecting her murderer, and now she had failed in that task. In her anger Eve attacked Elliot, he easily defeated her and pushed her to the ground. Elliot pronounced sentance, in front of everyone. For helping the murderer of one of their own, Eve was forever banished from Elliot's camp. His men kept an eye on the pistol, still in Lily's dead hand. Eve wondered, were they worried she might still try to shoot one of them? Maybe that's what they wanted, an excuse to shoot her. But Eve wouldn't give them that satisfaction. She sat on the gun, if they were going to murder her they would not be able to delude themselves into saying it was self-defense. They walked away, leaving Eve alone, yet again.
After everyone left Eve picked up the gun, then she buried Lily. She apologized for failing on so many levels, and prayed for her eternal soul. Then, Eve contemplated what to do next. It was now April 22nd, 89 days until impact. There was no chance she'd actually get into an Ark, not if the military had really taken over. Eve had chosen the wrong side in that conflict. Eve's gun still had five bullets. Maybe she could hunt for awhile, but she'd still have an icy death to look forward to. Eve just wanted to go home again, before all this started. She knew that was impossible. Even if the asteroid was stopped, the world had lost too much, and they'd all gained too many memories. There was no going back. But maybe, she could see it one last time. Eve decided she would go back to her house in New Jersey. There, in her former bedroom, she would use this gun, and blow her brains out.
