So so sorry this has taken so long! It was my birthday and I'm currently writing reports about each child in my class at the moment= no free time whatsoever. I'll post up the next one when I can.

The party was already heaving when we arrived, and we (Crystal, Jenni and I, as Diamond had stayed home with pregnant Phee) were sticking out like sore thumbs in our superhero attire. I couldn't help but feel like a bit of an idiot, to be honest, as we were surrounded by girls and guys dressed for the 'cocktail party.' Unsurprisingly though, most of the guests were pretty drunk and just cheered when they saw us.
'Drop by my room later, batgirl.' A guy winked as I passed him. I shuddered. The only room I was planning on going to was the one I shared with my fiance.
'Where is she?' I asked Jenni as we all looked around, our identities protected by our masks.
'No idea.' Jenni stood on her tip-toes and shrugged.
'It's manic!' Crystal called out above the noise.
'Well ladies, might as well have a drink.' Jenni winked, grabbing us both.
'But we're here on business!' I shook my head, not wanting to risk her spending anytime with Zed.
'She's not here yet. We'd know if she was. The party would be buzzing with talk about her outfit.'
Jenni was right. All the parties we'd been to, Rose had ended up center of attention and surrounded by men. It was hard to tell if they actually found her attractive or if they were just being drawn in like magnets by her abilities. Crystal and I did as we were told and followed Jenni to the set-up bar in the kitchen. The kitchen islands had been covered in a black cloth and there were some barstaff stood behind them in tuxedos and black dresses.
Jenni passed us each a glass of wine and raised it in a toast. 'To kicking ass.'
'To kicking ass.'
We had been at the party for over an hour when Rose finally decided to show her face. We knew she had arrived because the chatter and singing had quietened down, leaving Rihanna's 'S & M' blasting through the speakers as the crowd parted. Rose strutted through the middle of the crowd, hand on hip, in a black maxi dress with cut out sides and a thigh slit. It reminded me of what had happened when I had been kidnapped, and it made me shudder. She made her way to the bar, and the crowd didn't return to their dancing until they had seen the glass of champagne placed in her hand.
We walked her carefully through the crowd, trying to work out her next move. But before we could, she disappeared into the room nextdoor. Attempting to be subtle, we cautiously followed her; we made sure we kept our distance to avoid suspicion.
'Where is she going?' Crystal called out, as we placed our empty glasses on an end table.
'To find Zed.' Jenni's frown showed just above her mask. 'There were plenty of guys in there to keep her busy. She knows what she wants.'
I think I must have paled then, because my two friends gave my hands a squeeze. My stomach churned and I suddenly felt a little lightheaded. Then I reminded myself why I was there and the feeling turned to anger. I released my hands from my friends and curled my fists into a ball. 'Let's go.'
What's the plan? Jenni's voice asked.
We let her try to get her way. Zed's going to put his walls up. Crystal replied.
And if she attacks?
Then perfect. We have evidence for the cameras.
The what? My eyes widened.
Sky, we have thought this through you know. We have cameras and wires. We need evidence before we can get her locked up. Crystal explained. She turned to face me and half-smiled, before continuing through the crowd.
Rose behind glass. Or bars. As long as they could keep her contained, it sounded amazing. I just hoped that she would give us the evidence we needed. So far, the authorities only had my word for it. Zed didn't count because he'd had a fair bit to drink, and hadn't been in a 'right state of mind.' Jenni suddenly stopped in her tracks and I nearly crashed into her. Zed was with Xav, Yves and Rob, on the other side of the room. They all had a beer in their hand and were joking about. Rose was stalking towards them. My heart quickened.
xx-xx-xx-xx
Zed.
Rose was stalking towards me in a dress that I wished Sky owned. She flicked her long hair over her shoulder and smiled at me. In my mind, I built my wall of steel as quickly as I could. I just hoped that she wouldn't overpower me this time. No way was I losing Sky again, it felt like my whole world had fallen apart the last time; it felt like we were finally back on track again, and she'd even started talking about the wedding a bit. I just hoped that we could get married soon, because I was getting fed up of her not being my wife.
Zed, concentrate. Yves hissed in my mind. You won't be getting married if we don't get this right.
That comment brought me back to reality. I was going to marry Sky. We just had to get rid of Rose and her ability first.
'Hey Zed.' She purred, stroking my arm. She looked around and my brothers and new best friend. 'Hey boys.'
'Rose.' Rob nodded, before taking a sip of his beer.
'Can we go somewhere and talk?' She stroked my bicep with her cat-like nails.
Yes. Xav's voice said. Just incase something needs to be done.
That something being to make her unconscious. There was a syringe in my jacket inside-pocket. I'd worn the suit to Yves' wedding a few years back and it still fit like a glove.
'Sure.' I faked a smile and let her hook her arm through mine as she led the way.
You'd better all be outside if I need you.
Promise. Yves said. I knew he meant it.
Rose led us up the first flight of stairs and into the first empty bedroom we came across. She closed the door behind her. In my mind, I added another layer of steel to my walls.
'Don't suppose you've broken it off with that midget yet, have you?' She ran her fingers from my chest down to my stomach. I held back my growl, despite the fact that the comment had made me angry. I wasn't about to punch a girl.
'No.' I replied, trying not to sound blunt.
'Break ups are hard.' She shrugged. 'We'll get there.' She leant in for a kiss, but I moved away. Then the look she gave me almost made me lose my guard.
It was like she was looking deep into my soul. It was a mixture of anger, concentration and passion. Her eyes brightened as she gave it, and her lips curled into a playful and seductive smile. My head was starting to ache as I felt her trying to knock down the wall inside my mind.
'I love a boy who likes to play.' She purred.
I didn't show any emotion. I blocked everything out, focussing on the wall inside of my mind. She was making some dents in it, I could tell. With every blow, the pain got greater. I felt like I was being whacked round the head by a brick. That was when I realised the bolts in my walls were starting to give away.
'Why are you doing this?!' I called out, unable to stop the words coming from my mouth.
'Because you're with the wrong girl.' She hissed in response.
'No I'm not! She's my soulfinder for fuck's sake!'
'Who cares?! Soulfinder's aren't everything! And I can change that. I can make you see sense. Just let me in, baby.'
'I'm not your damn baby. I'm with Sky. We're getting married. I couldn't love anyone any more than I love her.'
'Shut up!' She hissed again, sounding like a snake.
'Why me, Rose? Why are you so determined to hurt me and to hurt Sky? And our friends?'
'Because that damn bitch has everything I've got! OKAY?! She has parents, she has the good-looking soulfinder, the big family-in-law, the friends, the looks. Everyone loves her and that damn accent. She never had to do anything.'
The pain in my head stopped and I realised she was giving up. Tears were in her eyes; a mixture of anger and pain. Rose was upset.
'I wanted her to feel just like I did. When my parents dumped me in Vancouver and moved to Florida. When my soulfinder died in front of me. Why should she get everything?!'
'She doesn't have everything. Her parents died, Rose. She's been through so much in her life, why put her through more?'
'Shut up. Just shut up.'
My head ached as I realised she was hitting my mind again, this time the blows more powerful. I held my head in pain and winced as she carried on. One by one, I felt the bolts coming unscrewed. I tried to put them back, but it hurt so much. My nose started to bleed. I didn't know she was in. It was like my mind suddenly switched off. There was nothing there. No emotions, just nothing.
'Hey baby.' She leant forwards and kissed me.
'NO!' The door flung open and batgirl walked in. I blinked. Was I dreaming?
'Get your hands off of him, you bitch!'
My eyes widened. I'd never heard batgirl swear on the television, and she sure as hell wasn't British. I held Rose behind me, protectively.
'Zed, you idiot, you should have syringed her when she was pouring her heart out!' Xav cried out, his hand on his forehead.
'You wouldn't do that. Would you, babe?' Rose whispered behind me, in shock.
Zed, please come back to me. Batgirl was staring at me, her eyes watering. Was she in my head.
'Who are you?' I asked her, uncertain.
'Your soulfinder!' Her voice quivered.
xx-xx-xx-xx
Sky.
I felt like my heart was being ripped from my chest. Had he forgotten me? I'd left it too late. Xav and Yves said everything was under control. They said it was okay, that Zed would syringe her. But now...
Jenni squeezed my shoulder.
Before I knew what I was doing, I raced towards Rose. Moving so fast, Zed was unable to catch me as I landed on Rose, knocking her to the ground. She let out a shriek and I felt Zed's familiar hands try to grab me. I grabbed the syringe I had tucked into my thigh-high boots and stabbed it into Rose's neck. She fell unconscious.
Zed let out a whimper and grabbed me, knocking me to the ground.
'What the hell have you done?!'
He grabbed my throat, attempting to strangle me. My life flashed before my eyes and tears rolled down my cheeks. Was my soulfinder going to kill me?
That was when I saw Rob move quickly. He yanked Zed off of me and stabbed him in the neck with another syringe. Lying on the wooden floor of a Greek house, I curled into a ball on my side and sobbed, looking at the unconscious body of the man that had tried to kill me.
I slept in the hotel with Phee that night. The Benedicts had checked into the same one in the town and had adjoining rooms. I'd wanted to be left alone in the room Yves and Phee had offered to give up to me, but Phee and Jenni weren't having any of it. My batgirl costume was hung on the door of the closet, and I was wearing some pyjamas Yves had dropped by after taking unconscious Zed back to our apartment. Xav and Rob were staying with him overnight, keeping him away from me until they were sure he wouldn't try to hurt me. Rose had been handed over to the FBI savant specialist unit, thanks to The Benedicts. They would decide what to do with her after watching the camera footage and listening to the microphone that had been attached to Zed's tie.
'I'm so sorry, Sky.' Phee whispered, brushing my wild blonde curls away from my mascara-stained face. Jenni gave me a sympathetic look from behind her. I didn't say anything. I just looked at them and hugged the pillow closer to me.
That's when I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I held it tightly and winced.
'What is it?' Jenni asked, suddenly more alert. She looked at where my hands were placed. 'Is it your stomach?'
Realisation dawned on me. My period was late. Only a few days, but still. I'd been so caught up in this Rose business that I hadn't even thought about it. And I'd had a glass of wine that night. And I definitely had had some to drink before then. And I had felt sick on and off for weeks.
The pain came again, and suddenly I felt sick.
'Sky, are you...' Phee started, but I ran off to the bathroom before she could finish asking me.
I locked the door behind me and threw up in the toilet. I wretched at the smell and winced again as the pain continued. I looked down at my pyjama bottoms and then I saw what I had been silently praying for; my period.
'Sky.' Phee banged on the door to the bathroom.
'I'm fine. I'm not pregnant.' I called out.
I wasn't sure if I felt disappointed or not. I was too busy looking at my reflection in the shiny bath; the reflection of a girl with a red ring around her neck from when her soulfinder had tried to kill her.
