Charity came to with a bright light above her head. She could hear the steady beep from the machines next to her. It was then that the events of the last few days came back to her. The beeping sped up and she bolted upright. Tony was instantly sitting on the edge of the bed by her and placing his hands on her shoulders.

"AJ? Where's AJ? Is he alright?" She asked.

"He's fine." Tony answered. "The doctors checked him out and he's perfectly fine. Your dad came and picked him up."

Charity let out a sigh of relief. She then looked up at Tony. He had a cut above his left eye which was held shut with butterfly bandages and his right eye was black. "What happened?" She asked.

"The car accident." Tony replied.

"Tony..."

Tony sighed. "Don't worry about it."

"And Smith? What about him?"

"He's not a problem anymore." Tony answered.

Charity leaned forward and threw her arms around Tony. She knew exactly what he had done. "Thank you."

"Hey, I wouldn't be a very good husband if I didn't take care of my wife." Tony replied, kissing the top of her head.

There was a knock on the door then. The doctor was coming in the room. "I am glad to see you're awake, Mrs. DiNozzo." She greeted them. "How are you feeling?"

"A little tired and sore." Charity answered. "Can I go home now? I want to see my son."

"I'd like to keep you overnight for observation. You took quite a blow to the head." The doctor replied.

"I have a month old son. I want to get home to him now." Charity replied.

"Let me just run a couple of more tests and then I'll release you after I get the results…and on the condition you take it easy?"

"Fine." Charity replied.

The doctor then examined Charity and ran a couple of more tests, before releasing her into Tony's care. They arrived at Gibbs' house and parked the car. They walked inside to find Gibbs holding AJ and walking around with him, talking to him in a soothing manner. "Okay, hand over my baby." Charity said.

Gibbs looked up from his grandson to his daughter and smiled. "I'm glad to see you're up and about." He said as he walked over to her and passed AJ over. He kissed her forehead.

Charity smiled at her dad. "Thanks for keeping an eye on him." She said and then turned to look down at her son. She did a quick inspection and saw that he was indeed perfectly fine. He was looking up at her and cooing. She smiled and covered his little face in kisses. She felt relieved to know he was alright. She knew Tony wouldn't lie to her about the health of their son, but she still needed to see it for herself.

"Your old bedroom is set up for the three of you." Gibbs said.

"Thanks." Tony replied. He then wrapped his arm around Charity's waist. "You need some rest."

"And you don't?" She replied.

"I'm planning on coming up with you." Tony said, kissing the top of her head.

"Sleep well, you three." Gibbs said before heading down to his basement.

Tony guided Charity up the stairs, keeping his arm around her waist, afraid she would be unsteady. They were walking into Charity's old bedroom, which was set up with Charity's old bed and a basinet for AJ. There was also a rocking chair set up by the window. Charity walked over to the rocker and sat down, cradling AJ in her arms. She lightly hummed a tune as she rocked her infant son, who was soon falling asleep in her arms.

Charity just sat there a while, rocking and holding her son. She was so afraid to let him go at that moment. "Charity, honey, are you alright?" Tony asked, coming to kneel down in front of her.

"I'm just so afraid that we won't be able to protect AJ and keep him safe." Charity answered. "Smith is the craziest criminal I have ever encountered…and no one has ever frightened me as much as him…but more than anything, I was afraid of losing AJ and you."

"But AJ is perfectly fine. He safe, happy, and loved." Tony assured her.

"When the car crash happened…Smith…he didn't touch AJ did he?" Charity asked.

Tony shook his head. "No."

"So, he really did just want to come after me." Charity muttered.

"Yes, but he really is dead this time." Tony told her. "I promise you, you and AJ will always be safe. I will protect the both of you with my life, because you two are my world."

"I know." Charity replied. "It's just scary how close he came…and what could have happened."

"But it didn't happen and no one is going to get that close again." Tony assured his wife. "Now, why don't you lay AJ down and we'll get in some comfy clothes and curl up in bed? You know he won't be asleep long, we'd better get some sleep while we can."

"Okay." Charity agreed, slowly standing up and walking over to the bassinet to gently lay down their son. Tony stripped down to his boxers and handed Charity a t-shirt.

Once they were comfortable, the pair climbed in bed and Tony instantly pulled Charity into his arms. Charity didn't say a word as she nestled into Tony's embrace. She needed his strong comforting arms right now. This recent event was bringing a lot of things into perspective for Charity and she knew she had some thinking to do, but for the moment, she was just going to lay with her husband and allow him to comfort her.
