CHAPTER THREE: MY IMMORTAL
(Dedicated to hailey-shiro)
Toshiro held on tightly to the hand of his unconscious friend. Silence flowing through room.
This was the fifth night this week that he had come straight to the Fourth Division after completing his daily duties. And the second night he had decided to stay by Momos side for the whole evening.
It had become the pattern that is now his entire life. Work. Train. Then the rest of the time is all dedicated to her.
He didn't mind though. He wouldn't want to be anywhere else than at Momos side. After all, he was the reason that she was even in this situation. If he hadn't figured out that that bastard Aizen was the true enemy fast enough, then his childhood friend wouldn't be in this place.
Then again, maybe if she had stayed in the tenth division barracks behind the kido wall he had set up, this wouldn't had happened either.
'No,' he thought. 'Don't think like that. She was just trying to figure what was really going on.'
And in the end, he failed her...
Toshiro had grown tired of constantly blaming himself, but he felt that her had no other choice.
Momo had been his everything ever since they met as kids. He would spend every waking moment with her, up until she decided to become a soul reaper. Even then though, he wanted to follow her in to a life that could possibly lead to him getting killed.
He never cared about that though. All he wanted was a way to make sure that him and Momo would never have to part ways for good. However, even with all the sacrifices he made, there was still that one person That blocked his way in reaching his ultimate goal.
Souske Aizen. The bastard that put all that distance between Toshiro and Momo.
His childhood friend had become obsessed with that traitor of a man. She had worked herself to bone just to be part of his squad. Then worked even harder just to become his lieutenant. She was dedicated to prove herself to him. Then when she thought she had finally gained some sort of approval from him, it had turned out that he had just been lying to her the entire time.
Momo would have anything and everything for that formal captain. Including pointing her sword at the one person who had always seen her strength. The one friend that had always noticed her in the angelic light that had always surrounded her. The one person who had made her the center of his being.
It hurt Toshiro to know that she had trusted someone else more that she trusted him. After everything they had gone through, years and years of being together. The bond they had and the wonderful, even some not so wonderful, times they had shared together. All for her to just believe another man, that she barely even knew too. All of that in the end.
Toshiro gave a sigh and turned his attention to the moonlit window.
He was so grateful for his friend being alive. More than grateful, he was relieved. He really had to count his lucky stars that Captain Unohana had come on time to not only save his life, but Momos as well.
However, on nights like this; the quite of the evening, watching his best friend drift in and out of life, there were things that would just get into his head. Things that he mostly disagreed with. Things like how Momo was ungrateful for everything that he had done for her, and how she only seemed to take his compassion and love for her for granted.
Things about she would no doubt choose her beloved Captain Aizen over her own choldhood friend. Even how, when she does finally come to and accepts the truth, she will still never see him like he sees her.
Thoughts like this will come and go for the young captain on quite nights like this, but that doesn't mean that he'll ever let them get to him.
Things like this have always bothered him. Ever since he first realized his love for the sweet fifth squad lieutenant. He always knew that there would thoughts like this and more. There was no doubt that it wasn't easy, but that doesn't mean that he'll abandon her.
No matter what life threw his way, Toshiro was always by Momos side. Nothing ever change that. Doubts and bad thought could be damned; he was in love with her.
Toshiro looked back at the sleeping beauty and gently placed a hand on her soft cheek. He gently stroked her face as a small smile came to his face. Taking a small risk, he leaned over and gave her forehead a long and lingering kiss.
He continued to stroke her cheek as he whispered a well kept promise. "I will never leave your side."
And he never did. Through all the pain and the confusion, he still only had eyes for his darling bedwetter.
All done! Sorry it took me forever to finally update. I promise that that habit will be better handled from now on. Until next time my beloved readers!
Ja-Ne! XD
