Hey there folks!
Hope you enjoy the new chapter!
Thanks for reading!
Disclaimer: I don't own KnB :)
Kuroko went straight to the kitchen, quickly throwing together a meal that was big enough for the GOM plus Ogiwara, Kagami, and himself. He sighed, even though there was only eight people eating, considering who was eating...Kuroko had to make enough food for an army.
"Need help, Kuroko?" Ogiwara asked, leaning against the door frame to the kitchen. In half a second, Kuroko was standing in front of him with a list of ingredients.
"Can you go buy these?" Kuroko asked quickly.
"Ah...sure...there's...a lot of things on this list..." Ogiwara deadpanned.
"Kagami-kun, can you go to the store with Ogiwara-kun?" Kuroko asked as he turned his attention to the massive pile of potatoes in the sink.
"Ogiwara's a big boy now, he can go to the store by hi-"
"Would you rather play tag with Nigou?"
Kagami's smirk fell instantly, "Ah,so the store huh? I love the store! I'm all about stores! Let's go to the store Ogiwara! Why are you so slow?!" Kagami yelled as he ran out the door.
"You can be kind of scary sometimes, Kuroko..." Ogiwara mumbled as he left to follow Kagami.
"Why does Kuroko need 10 pounds of ground beef and 10 pounds of chicken breast? Isn't that kind of a lot?" Ogiwara asked.
"Only 10 pounds of each? I can eat that portion by myself...Oh here, that's not a one, that's a seven. That makes more sense"
"Seventy?! Seventy pounds?!" Ogiwara yelled in shock.
"Yeah, I don't think that's enough either. Oh well, Kuroko probably has other dishes. Though if it doesn't have meat I'm probably not going to have any" Kagami shrugged, walking ahead.
"I forgot what a monster you are..." Ogiwara sighed as he struggled to push the cart.
"I take offense to that"
"As you should"
"How would you like it if I called to monster?"
"That'd be great"
"...I don't know how to deal with your personality"
"I appreciate it. This just says a ton of dumplings. That's pretty vague."
"No, I think he literally means for us to buy a ton of dumplings" Kagami shrugged.
"...WHAT?!"
"Ah, I thought a heard a monkey screaming. And look, you have your gorilla with you" Akashi smirked, approaching Ogiwara and Kagami, the rest of the GOM close behind.
"What are you kiddies doing here?" Ogiwara asked, a smirk of his own planted on his lips.
"More importantly, why are people calling me a gorilla today...did you guys plan this?"
"Kuroko invited us to his home" Akashi said, completely ignoring Kagami, "It's polite to bring something to the host's home"
"We decided we'd bring the dessert!" Kise chirped, holding up a bag.
"Popsicles? What a cute thing to bring. I'm sure Kuroko will give you a gold star for that one. Maybe he'll even give you a piece of candy" Ogiwara chuckled.
"Will Kuroko really give me a piece of candy?" Murasakibara asked.
"Be quiet, Atsushi." Akashi growled, "And besides, that's only what Kise is bringing"
"Red bean ice cream" Midorima said holding up a tub.
"I picked donuts" Aomine shrugged.
"Cake~" Murasakibara hummed.
"So in order...something for old people, the lazy desert, and the typical dessert. How appropriate. They fit your personalities"
"I dont even look like a gorilla do I? Is it my forehead?" Kagami mumbled, not paying attention and staring into his reflection in a tin can.
"What about you shorty?"
"Hn, I ordered vanilla milkshakes from that bakery downtown. They'll arrive at Kuroko's in time for dinner."
"Oh did you"
"I did"
"Did you really?"
"I just said yes"
"REALLY?!"
"Are you ill?"
"Well, damn, that's actually pretty good. Smiley face sticker for the young master. Now, come, we have shopping to do"
"Why should we help you" Aomine sneered
"Kuroko asked us to get these things. Do you really want me to tell him how you snubbed us?" Ogiwara smirked.
"Ogiwara sure is crafty" Kise mumbled.
"Besides you should enjoy the time you have left with Kuroko"
"The time we have left?" Akashi raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry what did you say?" Ogiwara smiled as he walked ahead.
"What do you mean the time we have left with Tetsu?" Aomine growled, quickly catching up to Ogiwara.
"Are you speaking? Just hurry and get two heads of cabbage" Ogiwara chuckled.
Kuroko was busy prepping what he had in the kitchen when he heard Nigou let out soft barks. Kuroko went to see what was the matter with the husky and saw that he was sitting in front of the door, gently pawing at it. Kuroko gently urged Nigou away from the door and opened it. He couldn't help but chuckle when he saw Haizaki pacing back and forth and mumbling to himself. Whats more, Haizaki didn't seem to notice that the door had opened.
"Haizaki-kun?" Kuroko asked, feeling very entertained.
"Kuroko! How long have you-..."
"A while" Kuroko smiled, "Would you like to come in?"
"Ah sure...I brought Mayuzumi with me" Haizaki took a couple steps away from the door frame and came back into view, holding a rather embarrassed looking Mayuzumi by the collar.
"Oh, Mayuzumi-kun, what a surprise. It's nice to see you"
"Y-yeah...you too" Mayuzumi mumbled, lowering his head a bit in greeting.
"Why are you acting so shy? You're the one that wanted me to bring you" Haizaki raised an eyebrow at Mayuzumi before passing Kuroko. "Whats to eat?" Haizaki asked as he headed towards the chicken.
"Honestly, I'm not one hundred percent sure. Ah, please come in Mayuzumi-kun"
"T-thanks...woah!" Mayuzumi exclaimed as the husky jumped into his arms
"Ah, that's Nigou. He seems to like you" Kuroko smiled. Mayuzumi felt stunned at Kuroko's smile...it was slight, but it was definitely there. He was filled with a strange feeling of...accomplishment.
"Is that so..." Was all he was able to say as he walked into the apartment.
"Would you like to join us for dinner? Or rather, is there a dish that you particularly like?"
"I like kusaya" Mayuzumi bluttered out before he could stop himself. He felt like everything was moving in slow motion. First, Kuroko's eyes widened ever so slightly then a smile and then...laughter. It erupted and shook Kuroko's small frame. Mayuzumi wondered briefly how anyone could think Kuroko had a low presence... in this moment...Kuroko was all he could see.
"I didn't mean to laugh, Mayuzumi. I apologize. I just wasn't expecting you to say kusaya." Kuroko smiled, gesturing for Mayuzumi to follow him. Mayuzumi couldn't get any words out and silently followed the older phantom. "Unfortunately, I don't think I have any. But, maybe we can have that another time"
"What took you guys?" Haizaki asked, opening random jars and pots.
"We were just chatting, Haizaki-kun. What are you doing?" Kuroko asked raising an eyebrow at the silver haired man.
"I'm hungry" Haizaki shrugged. "I don't see any meat"
"Kagami-kun and Ogiwara-kun are out buying some"
"Meh..." Haizaki sighed and sat on top of the counter and browsed through his phone.
"You can have some chips while you wait" Kuroko opened a cabinet and sighed, seeing that once again, Kagami had put the snacks on the one shelf that was out of his reach. Mayuzumi noticed this and reached from behind Kuroko and pulled down a bag and wordlessly, without looking, tossed it to Haizaki.
"Thanks" Haizaki said, catching the bag, not bothering to look up.
"Thank you, Mayuzumi-kun. Being tall is really handy, huh?" Kuroko smiled scratching Nigou behind the ears. Nigou leaned into the touch, squirming a little in Mayuzumi's arms. Mayuzumi blushed slightly, suddenly noticing the shockingly beautiful blue shade of Kuroko's hair.
"Go play Nigou" Kuroko gently took Nigou out of Mayuzumi's arms, making Mayuzumi flinch at the feel of Kuroko's hands brushing against his.
"I'm taking a nap. I'll use your room, Kuroko" Haizaki yawned, heading towards the bedrooms.
"Please don't eat those chips in my bed, Haizaki-kun" Kuroko sighed. Haizaki grunted in response. After a while of silence, Kuroko turned to Mayuzumi and handed him a knife. "Do you mind chopping those onions for me?" Mayuzumi merely nodded, taking the knife.
"Do you like basketball, Mayuzumi-kun?" Kuroko asked as Mayuzumi began chopping.
"I wouldn't play if I didn't like it" Mayuzumi replied
"I suppose that's true. I was surprised when I saw you play. I didn't know that anyone else could use my style"
"Its not the same style. I have my own" Mayuzumi protested, instantly regretting the snippy tone he used.
"I suppose that's true. You can do more than pass and shot from up close" Kuroko said, completely unaffected by Mayuzumi's tone.
"I know a lot about your basketball. Haizaki makes me watch your old games all the time"
"My, if that isn't embarrassing" Kuroko said in his usual deadpan voice.
"I worked hard to copy your style, then to go beyond it...then to make it my own"
"You certainly are impressive"
"I want to play against you..to beat you"
"We have pick-up basketball on Fridays if you would like to come."
"You're not easily..."
"Easily, what?"
"I don't know. Insulted? Provoked?...Along those lines"
"Were you trying to?"
"No...but most people would be annoyed by now"
"I guess I'm not like most people" Kuroko shrugged.
"Yeah...I'm starting to get that" Mayuzumi smirked.
"I'm not saying this is too much, but I'm starting to think this is too much" Ogiwara sighed as the group walked back to Kuroko's place, carrying giants bags full of groceries.
"Maybe there's just too many people coming" Aomine glared at Ogiwara.
"Maybe. Maybe you should go home" Ogiwara replied.
"Maybe you should leave" Kise huffed, struggling to carry the giant bags.
"Quit your whining, Kise" Kagami sighed
"I'm carrying twice what you're carrying!" Kise yelled
"Well, that sounds like a personal problem if I've ever heard one" Kagami grinned, lifting the significantly smaller bags over his head.
"Akashicchi~ Kagamicchi is bullying me!" Kise cried
"Everyone bullys you" Midorima replied.
"Aw come on..." Kise whined. Kise continued to gripe even as the group arrived at Kuroko's apartment. Kagami hurriedly threw the door open, anxious for Kise to see Kuroko so he would stop his moaning and groaning.
"Kuroko, we brought the good and the brats" Kagami announced the second he stepped into the apartment.
"You don't have to yell." Mayuzumi sighed as he appeared in front of the group.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Aomine growled, dropping his bags and grabbing the silver haired man by the collar.
"What's it to ya?" Mayuzumi smirked.
"Now, now, children" Ogiwara intervened, physically getting between the two.
"I'm going to guess that Haizaki invited you" Akashi's eyes narrowed, "where is he anyway?"
"Sleeping in Kuroko's room" Mayuzumi shrugged, "Kuroko went to go wake him"
"What's he doin' in Kurokocchi's room!?" Kise barked, completely pale and face aghast.
"Sleeping...I just said that...you're not very smart are you, copy cat?"
"Says the guy that copied Kurokocchi's style of basketball" Kise bit back.
"I might have copied it in the beginning, but I have my own style now. It's better. Think of it as Kuroko 2.0" Mayuzumi smirked.
"You wish you were as good as Tetsu" Aomine sneered.
"Show some respect, Mayuzumi" Midorima glared.
"I respect Kuroko plenty. Doesn't mean I'm not better" Mayuzumi shrugged.
"I'll snap you in two pieces" Murasakibara tilted his head to the side, a dark glint shining behind his lazy, purple eyes.
"You have potential" Akashi said, effectively silencing any remark the other GOM were preparing, "I'll give you that much. But you're obviously cocky, undeservedly, seeing as how you lost to us. You can talk all the game you want, but it means nothing if you don't pay up on the court. Honestly, I'm disappointed. Then again, as I said, you do have potential. You should come to Seirin."
A long silence filled the air, when Kise and Aomine turned to their leader in unison, "Wait...WHAT?!" They shouted, each as shocked as the rest of the group.
"You want this guy to come to Kise shrieked"
"Are you questioning me?" Akashi smiled, causing Kise to hide behind Kagami, fiercely and silently shaking his head 'no'.
"You think Haizaki will just let him go to Seirin?" Kagami raised an eyebrow.
"That doesn't really matter" Mayuzumi shrugged, scratching the back of his head in thought.
"Of course it matters. He's your coach." Kagami sighed, "You'd seriously fit right in with the GOM, no respect or concern for their coaches"
"We respect Rika" Aomine protested.
"Haizaki isn't a coach anymore. He quit. He's decided to go back to America...with me" Ogiwara interjected.
"What a shame" Akashi smirked
"Yeah, we'll really miss you" Kise chimed in sarcastically.
"Ah, I'm sure" Ogiwara smiled, "Especially since I asked Kuroko to go with me"
"...YOU WHAT?!"
