So I thought I'd take a risk... please don't hate me for it... I want Sky to face one of her big fears... and it'll link with the whole world finding out about Savants, just give it time and more Zed/Sky to come.

A heatwave came the week after our final exam. I was glad college was over for the summer because I found myself moving in onto the beach. To avoid temptation, Zed and I weren't moving back in together until after the wedding. Until then, I would stay over at the apartment once or twice a week. To make the most of the nice weather, Zed and Rob had got summer jobs at the watersports centre opposite Vancouver Island. The heatwave meant that it was busier than normal, so they were often called into work at the last minute. Having left Hollister after my model shoot, which was still providing me with a good income, I found myself in desperate need of company. I was lucky that Jenni was around too.

I rolled over onto my stomach on my towel, enjoying the feeling of the soft sand on my toes. 'Day three of the heatwave and I'm amazed I've not yet been sunburnt.'

'Don't speak too soon.' Jenni cautioned, mirroring my new position. 'I can't believe how warm it is, this is incredible.'

'Global warming.' I replied with a laugh. 'I hope the weather is still nice like this next Friday.'

'Of course, you're going to your wedding venue for your consultation.' She smiled, adjusting her shades. 'That'll be nice.'

'It will.' I smiled. 'But poor Zed, I've been so mean to him.'

'Are you still refusing to sleep with him until your wedding night?'

'Yes.' I laughed. 'It'll make it even more special though. But I quite like the teasing. You know, walking out of the shower in just a towel... walking around in my bikini.'

'You're so mean Sky!' Jenni swotted me with the sunhat she had abandonned. Her phone started ringing. 'Sorry.' She whispered, answering. 'Hello. Yes... yes I know the one... yes I know it's got loads of views... wait... what? Are you serious?! Oh my god! I have to tell her! I'll speak to you later, bye!'

I widened my eyes and looked at my squealing friend. 'Are you feeling okay?'

'Oh my god, Sky, you're not going to believe this!'

'Believe what...'

'You know you sang at open mic at the weekend...'

'No thanks to you.'

'Oh, but thanks to me. Someone filmed it and put it on youtube. You have like over 400,000 views in just a few days.'

'Oh god.' I groaned, burying my face in my towel.

'But that's not the best part!'

'No?'

'No! Oh my god, Sky, Ed Sheeran, the Ed Sheeran we love so much has commented on the video!'

'You have to be joking.' I replied, sitting up. 'That is the worst joke you've ever played on me, Jen, really.'

'No, Liza from the college band just called me! Hang on, let me try and get some signal.' She held up her phone and tapped on the screen. 'Oh my god, she was right!'

'Give it here!' I snatched the phone off of her and tried to read the screen in the bright sunlight. Sure enough, there was a comment with a blue 'verified' tick next to Ed's name.

Wow this girl is incredible! I'm sure I've seen her before somewhere, but if anyone knows her, please get in touch! I'd love to speak to her about her music. Ed.

'Oh, bugger.' I muttered under my breath.

'What? Isn't that a good thing?'

'Do you even remember what happened last time I went viral in some way... there were those pictures of me and Sam everywhere. It was so embarassing.'

'Sky, you have to contact him, this is big. What could possibly go wrong this time?'

'No,' I shook my head, adjusting my bikini. 'It's not happening.'

But I couldn't escape it. Celebrity News was talking about Ed's tweet, where he had copied in the link to the video. Everywhere was talking about who I could possibly be and where in the world I was. College friends were texting me, wanting to meet up and chat, but I ignored all of them. It was ridiculous. I didn't want to be viral. I just wanted a quiet lead-up to my wedding, where I didn't have to worry about anything.

'Sky, is there anything you'd like to talk to us about?' Sally asked me at dinner, when I was twirling spaghetti around my fork instead of eating it.

'No.' I lied. Sally and Simon glanced at each other.

'Sky, we've seen the news.' Simon said, breaking the silence. 'Why didn't you tell us that you had entered open mic night?'

'Because I didn't.' I frowned. 'Jenni entered me. You know I don't like performing to people.'

'Have you contacted Ed Sheehan? Sheeran? Whatever his name is?'

'No.' I replied. 'And I don't intend to. I just want a normal, quiet life. It'll all blow over, you'll see.'

It didn't. Jenni and I went to the beach two days later, choosing Jericho beach this time in the hope of topping up our tans. Big mistake. The beach was filled with people reading magazines and newspapers with me on the front cover. I cringed, hiding behind my sunglasses and the biggest, floppiest hat I could find.

'Maybe I should have stayed at home.'

'Maybe you should just contact Ed before someone else does.' Jenni sighed, scrolling through the news pages on her phone. 'Oh my god, they've found another video of you.'

'Another one?'

'It's you performing at your recital.'

I pulled my hat over my face. 'Can this all just please blow over? Please?'

'I can't believe she's not turned herself in yet. If Ed Sheeran wanted to get hold of me, he sure as hell would be able to. At any time of the day!' A blonde girl said to her friends as they walked past.

Sensing my discomfort, Jenni stood up. 'How about we get out of here?'

'Where are we going?'

'Well the boys finish early today, don't they? Let's surprise them! Maybe we can get a canoe out of here!'

When we arrived at the watersports centre, it was pretty quiet.

Rob greeted us as we walked through the door. 'Hey girls, what's up?'

'Thought you might like a surprise.' Jen smiled, leaning over the counter and giving him a quick kiss.

'Zed's just out the back, hosing off a kayak.' Rob told me. 'So what brings you girls here?'

'We're hiding out.' Jen explained, supressing a giggle.

'I thought your new head attire would be a good enough disguise, Sky.' Rob grinned.

'Eugh.' I groaned.

'They've found another video, one from the recital.' Jen told her boyfriend, adjusting the straps of the bikini she was wearing underneath her dress. 'Sky's freaking out.'

'I see.' Rob nodded.

Zed walked in, his wetsuit undone down to his hips, revealing his perfectly carved abs. He smiled when he saw me. 'Well hello there. I think that's my girlfriend under the huge glasses and hat, but I can't be sure.'

I relunctantly took off my hat and sunglasses. 'Hey.'

'So this is a nice surprise.'

'They're hiding out.' Rob said, in a stage whisper.

'Oh.' Zed's eyes widened . He walked over to me and pulled me into a hug. I breathed in the smell of sea salt and sighed. 'Are you okay?'

'I just want this all to blow over.' I replied, frustrated. 'If I'd have know that I'd have been filmed then I would never have gone up onto that stage.'

My fiance reached down and placed a soft kiss on my lips. Then my phone rang. Hesitantly, I pulled it out of my bag and I let out a relieved sigh when I saw it was Sally calling me.

'Hey Sky.'

'Hi, are you okay?' I asked. It was unlike either of them to call me in the day. They were usually busy working.

'Well, we've had a call from the neighbours. The press are outside our house. I think that someone must have said who you were.' Her voice was concerned on the other end of the line.

'Oh no.'

'Simon and I are going to go home at normal time, but I'm worried they'll still be there and I want you to be safe. Can you stay at Zed's tonight?'

'Yeah, sure.'

'Take care and call me if you need me. Love you.' The line went dead.

I looked over at my friends. 'And so my identity has been revealed.'

With very few clothes at the apartment, I really hoped I wouldn't have to stay too long. I worried about leaving Sally and Simon in our house, when the press were camped outside. I took a long, cool shower to rinse the sea salt out of my hair and off of my body. I didn't have pyjamas, so I slipped one of Zed's t-shirts over my underwear and headed into the living room. Zed was sat in front of the television, the news on.

'And so the identity of the mystery blonde singer in Vancouver has been revealed as Sky Bright, who is originally from England. Ed Sheeran has been trying to get hold of the young girl to praise her for her wonderful voice, but she has not been available for comment. Our team are currently outside Sky's house, although apparently she is not home.'

I groaned at the video footage of my house, where the curtains and blinds were all drawn. Poor Sally and Simon. This was all my fault.

'Hey.' Zed changed the channel as he saw me walking towards him. 'Are you trying to destroy me?'

'I don't have any pyjamas here.' I replied with a smile, sitting myself down on the sofa beside him.

'I'm kind of glad that you don't.' He pulled me onto his lap and kissed me softly. 'You've always looked good in my clothes.' He looked into my eyes, sensing my sadness. 'Sally and Simon are going to be fine.'

'But how long is this going to go on for?'

'I don't know.' He sighed, kissing me softly. 'But this is nothing compared to what we've been through before. We'll get through it.'

Zed went to work the next day, leaving me alone at the apartment. It was still stupidly hot outside, so I was glad that we had working air conditioning. After calling Phee, I showered and changed into a sundress I had found in my closet. My phone beeped and I looked down, realising I had two missed calls. I was about to dial my voicemail when the apartment buzzer sounded. My heart sank. Had the press found me? I hesitated, uncertain. Then the buzzer stopped. Whoever it was had been let in by someone else. Shit.

Less than a minute later, the doorbell sounded and I knew it was too late. I crept over to the door, as quietly as I could, and I looked through the glass. I checked twice and resisted rubbing my eyes. This was unbelievable. I opened the door and looked at the unexpected guest in front of me.

He ran a hand through his ginger hair. 'Uhm, hey Sky. Your parents said you'd be here.'

'Hi.' I replied, feeling nervous. 'Er, come in.'

Ed smiled at me and walked into the apartment. I slowly closed the door, in disbelief. Jenni was supposed to turn up in an hour. If he was still here, she would freak. 'Take a seat. Would you like a drink of anything? We've got water, lemonade, juice, maybe a beer.'

'A bit early for beer.' He laughed. 'Water is fine.'

I poured him a glass of water and added some ice to try to keep it cool. I sat in the couch opposite Zed's armchair he had sat in. 'So this is totally weird.'

'I wanted to speak to you before the press could.' He explained. His eyes softened. 'I am really sorry for the hassle you've had over the past few days. I didn't want that to happen.'

'I've been through worse.' I laughed, awkwardly.

'I remembered where I'd seen you after the video yesterday. I played at your school ball last month.'

I nodded. 'Yeah, you did.'

'And then there was all that trouble because of the guys picking on the savants, right?'

I nodded, unsure of what to say to that.

'You're one of the girls that was kidnapped, aren't you? By that Troy guy?'

I shuddered. 'Yes.'

'Sorry, I shouldn't pry.' He apologised, his eyes soft. 'Wow, you really didn't need all this hassle I've caused.'

'I just wanted everything to go back to normal.' My voice was small.

'And I completely understand. I just thought you had such amazing talent, Sky, really. Your voice is incredible and those lyrics... you wrote them yourself?'

'Yes.' I replied. 'They're really not that great.'

'If those aren't your 'great' ones then I'd love to hear your others.' The corners of his mouth twitched into a smile.

'You shouldn't have come here.' I found myself saying before I could stop myself. 'I'm not a performer. I hate standing up in front of people and singing. It's terrifying. I didn't even sign up for that open mic. My friend, Jenni set me up. And with everything else that's been going on...'

Ed took a sip of his water and sat forward in the chair. 'I'm a savant.'

'What?' My eyes widened. 'You're kidding right?'

'No.' He shook his head. 'I can see sounds. I know that sounds weird. But when people speak or sing or play an instrument, I can see the sounds. It's such a weird ability.'

I looked at him and his aura and I realised he was telling the truth. 'That must be pretty cool though.'

'I guess it's like watching the Northern Lights and being in a disco all the time.' He laughed. 'What's your ability?'

I bit my lip. 'I can see people's auras. They reflect their moods. It means I can tell if someone's lying.' I decided not to tell him about my more recent ability.

'So you know I'm telling the truth when I say you're a good singer?' He grinned.

'Ha! You've caught me out there.'

'I'm doing a charity show on Saturday night in Toronto. Just say you'll give it a shot. Just this once.'

'You want me to sing with you?'

'Sure, it'll be fun.' He smiled.

My eyes widened. 'Yeah, I don't know if that's going to happen.'

'Tonight, there's a party at my hotel. Will you come?' He looked hopeful. 'You can bring a friend...' He looked at my ring finger, 'or a fiance if you'd like.'

'Okay.' I smiled. 'I'll be there.' At least Jenni would get to meet him and she'd love me forever.

He stood up. 'It was really nice to meet you, Sky. I'll drop by later with a car.' He shook my hand and then Ed Sheeran left my apartment.

I was still wondering if I had imagined the whole thing when Jenni arrived fifteen minutes later. I let her into the flat, feeling in a daze.

'Sky, are you feeling okay? You look a little spaced out.' She closed the door to my apartment and led me to a sofa.

'You are never going to believe the morning I've had.'

'Go on.' She looked at me, completely puzzled.

'Ed Sheeran came here.'

'No!' She gasped. 'You're totally just winding me up!'

'I don't believe it either. But look, there's his glass!' I pointed at the glass on the coffee table.

Jenni picked it up and looked at the lip mark carefully. 'Tell me everything.'

An hour later and we were in the mall, sunglasses covering my eyes, trying to find an outfit suitable for a record label party. I had lost track of how many times Jenni had said 'oh my god'. I'd spoken to Zed and he'd decided that Jenni could be my plus one as she was 'Ed crazy.' I wasn't sure that was a good thing or not.

'We should have looked at Perez before we came out. He always posts pictures from A-list parties.' Jenni whispered as we walked around Macys again. She picked up a dress. 'This is a bit Kardashian. What do you think?'

I shook my head. 'Jen, we need classy but not over the top.' I pulled my t-shirt off of my damp skin. 'And something that isn't going to give us heat stroke.'

Jenni grabbed some black and pink floral tailored trousers and a chiffon camisole top. 'What do you think? With a clutch bag and some heels?' I looked at the outfit. It was ideal. 'Yes, absolutely.'

I looked around the store. Why was it so hard to choose an outfit. I knew I could have worn something I already owned, but that meant going back and facing the press who were still camped outside my house. I had no idea how Ed had even spoken to my parents. Then a skirt caught my eye. It was a turquoise chiffon maxi skirt with a slit up the side. My favourite colour.

'That's gorgeous!' Jenni commented.

'But what would I wear with it?'

Jenni walked away from me and returned with a white lace crop top. 'This. Boho but so cute! You can wear your gladiator heels.'

I smiled. 'Now this is why you're always my favourite shopping partner.'

Zed had allowed us to get ready at the apartment, as that was where we were being picked up from. Rob had come round too and they were going to have a night in with beer and a boxing match. Jenni had said that when they had arrived, it was cooling off outside so I took that as a good sign. We got changed and ready in the bedroom, our new outfits fitting perfectly. I was a little worried about showing off some skin on my waist, but Jenni reassured me. I wore my blonde hair down in its natural curls, my signature look, but I had pulled the front strands back into a waterfall braid. Jenni's hair was pin-straight and with her make-up she almost looked ready for Hollywood. Until she opened her mouth of course.

'I can't believe I'm going to a party with Ed Sheeran!' She squealed.

'And with your best friend!' I added with a wink. 'Seriously, though, you need to calm down. I'm actually wondering about opening a bottle of wine already, just to chill you out a bit.'

We heard the buzzer sound in the other room.

'Sky! Jenni! Your ride is here!'

We grabbed our bags, said goodbye to the men in our lives and headed downstairs. I was pretty sure Jenni was going to pee her pants when we saw the black SUV waiting for us. I elbowed her in the ribs, hoping she would calm down, as the driver got out and walked round the side to open it for us.

'There you are ladies.' He smiled.

We carefully climbed in, and I tried not to flash anything inappropriate. Ed was already sat inside, a smile on his face.

'Hi Sky.' He greeted me. 'And...'

'Jenni.' My friend held out her hand, a huge grin on her face. 'I'm Sky's best friend.'

'Ah, so you're the one who set up the open mic.'

'That's me.' She grinned, as if she was famous.

I pulled my crop top down, nervously.

'Nervous?' Ed asked, his eyes meeting mine.

'Yes. It's an A-list party.'

He shook his head. 'They're all the same. Once you've got your first one out of the way, it's easy. Besides, you both look great.'

'We didn't know what to wear.' Jenni blurted out.

'Well you'll both fit in, no problem.'

I hadn't realised that we were going to arrive on the red carpet. When I saw the flashes out of the window, my heart started having palpitations. I was freaking out. Ed watched me, his eyes nervous. And then Jenni's ability filled me, making me feel calmer. I took a deep breath in and out. His eyes locked with mine and I knew he had recognised it: Jenni was a savant.

'Isn't there a back way?' I asked as the driver got out of the car. I felt calmer, but my thoughts were still the same.

'Hey, it'll be okay. Trust me.'

And despite only knowing him for a few hours, I did. He got out of the car first and the photographers and press went wild, calling his name. He turned to face me and I knew we had to come out next. I carefully stepped out of the car and onto the red carpet, Jenni closely behind me. The press all knew my name. They were calling for me.

'Sky, you look great, what are you wearing?'

'When did Ed find you?'

'Are you here on a date?'

'Can we have a photograph?'

Jenni slipped her arm around me and posed for some photographs.

'Can we get a photo of you with Ed?'

Jenni stepped to the side, shyily, and Ed put his arm around my waist. The flashes went off quick and my eyes were starting to hurt. He guided me inside, Jenni following closely behind us.

'Wow, that was insane!' Jenni gasped, a huge grin on her face.

I blinked, trying to get rid of the blue dots.

'Are you okay?' Ed asked, dropping his arm from my waist. 'You look a little pale.'

'I'm just getting my vision back.' I replied, honestly. 'Other than that I'm fine.'

His look of concern turned into a smile and he led us into the party. The room was filled with posh black and white damask decor, and the drinks being given out by waitors didn't look cheap.

'Isn't that Olly Murs? And Nick Jonas! Oh my god, Nick Jonas!'

Luckily, Ed laughed off Jenni's excitement with me. 'Would you like me to introduce you to him?'

'You'd do that?' She stood in awe, her mouth making a perfect 'o' shape.

'Sure.'

He led Jenni off, leaving me stood with a champagne cocktail.

'Sky Bright.'

I turned in the direction of my name and found myself face to face with a man in a suit. 'Hello.'

'I'm Joseph Owen, co-owner of the Warner Music Label. It's a pleasure to meet you.' He shook my hand firmly. 'Ed's been very excited about finding you and he's informed me that you will be performing with him in Toronto this weekend.'

I nodded, unsure of what else to say.

'We'll meet in the morning and get the contract written up for you. You're very talented, I hope you know that.'

I was saved at that moment by Ed swooping in. He placed his hand on the small of my back. 'We'll catch you later, Joe, I want Sky to meet some people.'

'Thank you.' I whispered as we walked away.

'You looked a bit freaked out. Guess Jenni's stopped focussing on keeping you calm for now.' He laughed.

'Where is she?' I craned my neck to look around the bodies.

'Chatting to Nick.' He winked.

'Oh god, Rob's going to kill me when he finds out I let his girlfriend run off with a Jonas Brother.'

He laughed. 'Well then he shouldn't have let her come out tonight.'

I spotted Jenni and pulled out my phone. 'I know this is totally ridiculous, but I think Jenni and I are both going to need photo evidence that this actually happened.'

'All a bit weird?'

I nodded. 'I found it hard believing you'd actually turned up on my doorstep this morning. I've always been a no one and now there's people calling my name outside.'

'Is that a good thing or a bad thing?'

'I don't know yet. I guess I'll find out when I've got a Wikipedia page.'

'Already there.'

'What?'

'I may have looked earlier. Didn't realise you're also in this season's Hollister campaign.'

I groaned. 'Now that was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.'

'We all make them.' He smiled. 'But I guess it means you're not as much of a no one as you thought.'

I sighed and finished my drink. I looked up and realised some people were watching me. Was this what it was going to be like from now on? I wasn't sure I liked it.
