When we arrived back in Vancouver on the Sunday evening, I made the decision to move back in with Zed. The press had left Sally and Simon alone, thankfully, but I couldn't bare the thought of moving back to my lonely room without my fiance. By Monday afternoon, most of my belongings were back in my closet and it felt like home again. We spent the rest of the afternoon writing a stupid amount of wedding invitations, but luckily we had roped Rob and Jenni in to help us.
'Why did we agree to help you?' Jenni frowned, sticking out her tongue to lick another envelope. 'I'm pretty sure I have a papercut on my tongue.'
'You've only been here ten minutes!' I laughed, writing the names of some guests on an invite in fancy script.
'How many more?'
'Does she always complain this much?' Zed asked Rob as he wrote an address on an envelope. We had a production line going and it was pretty impressive.
'Wait, you're inviting Taylor Swift to your wedding?' Rob's eyebrows shot into the air as he stuck a stamp on an envelope. 'Is this a real address?'
'Great, now my boyfriend is going to leave me for Taylor Swift.' Jenni frowned again.
'Says the girl who nearly left me for Nick Jonas.'
'Oh my god!' I interrupted. 'You guys are insane!'
'My brain hurts.' Zed frowned as he copied another address. 'Can we open a beer or something?'
'No.' Jenni and I chorused.
'Well that's a bit mean, we're not getting anything out of this.' Rob sighed.
'Jenni can pay you back.' I replied, wiggling my eyebrows. 'But seriously, get a move on. We should have sent these out weeks ago.'
'Now you're gracing the papers, you should have just hired someone to do this for you.'
On Tuesday evening, I had a phonecall from Ed to say that he had been asked to fly out for some television interviews in Canada and the US, starting with Steve and Chris, who had actually asked if I was interested in coming along. Naturally, Ed had responsed with a 'yes' and we were booked in for the following week. He was going to fly out over the weekend and finalise my contract with me.
On Wednesday, Jenni and I went to one of the best florists in the city to sort out the flowers for the wedding; this was the last thing on the list that we needed to sort and it made me feel positive.
'Oooh these are pretty!' Jenni squealed, pointing at some flowers. 'Not that I know what they are.'
'I want roses.' I replied with a smile. 'Lot's of white roses.'
'Can I help you?' The lady behind the counter asked, putting down her scissors and smiling.
'Hi, I'm getting married in August and I wanted to sort out flowers.' I explained.
'Do you have any idea what you're after?'
'The colour-scheme is white and light blue.' Jenni said before I could. 'We need a bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets and flowers to decorate the venue.'
'And buttonholes?' The lady asked.
'Yes.'
'Does your wedding have a theme or certain feel to it?'
'Kind of vintage.' I said, uncertain. 'We have birdcages and fairylights.'
'It sounds lovely.' She started pacing around the shop. 'And you want roses?'
I nodded. 'They're my favourite.'
She picked up some white roses and then continued wandering. She picked up some blue hygrangeas and then some babys breath. She walked back to the counter and bound them together in an arrangement. She held them away from her to observe them.
'It's beautiful.' I found myself saying.
The lady smiled. 'Yours will be bigger and more dramatic, I'll add a little something extra.'
'I don't mind.' I replied. 'They're perfect.'
I wasn't expecting to almost walk into a photographer on the way out of the store.
'Sky, what have you been buying in the florist?'
I frowned and grabbed Jenni's arm. 'Let's get out of here.' And then we ran.
'You're going to have to talk to the press sooner or later.' Darcy told me on the phone when I was in the safety of my apartment. 'They have a bunch of questions. My phone has been ringing off the hook.'
'I'd rather wait until my interview with Ed next week.'
'Well have it your way, but I suggest you take up one of these magazine spreads at some point. Then it'll all be done with.'
'I'll talk to Ed this weekend when he flies out.'
'Okay. I'll try and hold anything off until then.'
That led to the 'Big announcement from Ed Sheeran and Sky Bright' headlines the next day in every gossip magazine and tabloid paper. I groaned, inwardly, whilst shopping at the grocery store. And then, to make it all worse, Ed phoned me when I was checking out.
'I'm flying in early. I've seen the papers. What the hell are they talking about?'
'I don't know! Darcy said her phone has been ringing off the hook.'
'Well, it's a bit earlier than I'd have liked to have announced your signing, but I don't want them following you to the grocery store.'
'I'm there now. You don't think...'
'I hope not.' I could hear the irritation in his voice. 'Look, there's a flight leaving here in an hour. I'll see you first thing in the morning.'
'Hey beautiful, everything okay?' Zed asked, appearing at my side with the milk I had forgotten to grab.
'Ed's going to fly out tonight so we can meet tomorrow.'
'Oh.' He replied. 'Guess that means I'll have to make the most of our time together tonight.'
I felt stressed so I took a bubble bath that evening to relieve myself. I'd been naughty and poured myself a glass of wine, so I laid in the tub surrounded by bubbles with my glass. Zed walked in without knocking and my eyes widened.
'I've seen it before.'
'But you can't see anything again until the wedding.'
He sighed. 'I was hoping you would have given up on that by now.'
I smiled. 'Am I just too irresistible?'
'You have no idea. I'd happily just climb in with you.' He sat down on the edge of the bath. 'Are you alright? You've been quiet all day.'
'Do you think Ed's mad at me?'
'You didn't say anything to the papers at all. That was Darcy. If anything, he's mad at her. Is that what's bothering you?'
'That and I'm worried about what happens when Ed announces he's signed me. And there's that talk show next week...'
Zed ran his hand through my hair in a soothing motion. 'You are going to be fine. How about I get the day off work and then I can come to that talk show with you?'
'Would you do that?'
He smiled. 'Of course. I'd do anything for you.'
'Thank you.'
He ducked down and planted a kiss on my lips without falling in the water.
Zed slipped off to work early the next day. I got out of bed at the same time so that we could have breakfast together before he disappeared off. I had a long shower and dressed in a white sundress, tying my hair into a loose bun. The doorbell rang as I finished applying some mascara. I opened it quickly and saw Ed stood there with his suitcase and guitar, looking disheveled.
'Are you moving in?'
He shot me a smile. 'Not quite. I got a taxi from the airport.'
I stepped aside to let him into the apartment. 'Are you mad at me? Because I'd understand if you were.'
'No I'm mad at Darcy.' He frowned. 'I know she wants to make you big, but she didn't need to tell the press about the announcement. Not yet. Can I get changed?'
'Sure and you can have a shower if you-'
'Great. Showtime is in twenty.'
I didn't know that showtime meant we were going to be recording a video for Youtube announcing the record label news and including a performance of 'everything has changed.' It was pretty big stuff and as soon as Ed told me, I panicked. I fixed my hair and make-up, despite being told I looked fine and sat down on the sofa as Ed adjusted the camera.
'Okay so if I do the announcing and then we sing the song? Will that stop you being freaked out?'
'I'm not freaked out.' I lied.
'You look like you've seen a ghost.'
'Oh god.' I groaned. 'Do I look that bad?'
'Sky, you've performed in front of a huge audience and you were filmed for television. Why are you freaked over a youtube video?'
I thought for a moment. 'I guess it means that it's all real.'
'Do you still want this? Because if you've changed your mind now is the time to say.'
'No.' I replied with a half-smile. 'This is what I want. It's just scary.'
'I know.' He squeezed my shoulder, reassuringly. 'Which is why we'll take this one step at a time.' He grabbed his guitar and looked over at me. 'Are you ready?'
I took a deep breath. 'Yes.'
He switched on the camera and sat back beside me on the couch, pulling his guitar over his lap. 'Hi everyone, Ed here and I'm here with Sky Bright who I'm sure you've all heard of by now. As I'm sure you've heard, we have a big announcement to make and we didn't want you waiting any longer. At the start of the year, I set up my own record label called Gingerbread Records. I want to give budding singer songwriters that chance to share their music with the rest of the world, like I have been lucky enough to do.' Ed looked over at me and shot me a smile. 'I'm pleased to announce that the first artist I'll be signing is the beautiful Sky!'
'Hey.' I smiled and gave an awkward wave.
'Now before we go, we'd like to play you a little song which is going to be Sky's first single. Some of you have heard it before, this is 'everything has changed''.
And just like that, it was recorded, uploaded and into cyberspace.

Ed.
After having a sleep for a lot longer than I should have, I woke up and checked my iPad. Logging into Youtube, I could see that the world was going crazy for the big announcement. They loved Sky. And so they should. She was talented, beautiful and kind and, after everything she had been through, she deserved it. She was new and fresh, and she was likeable. She didn't pretend to be something she wasn't, so that separated her from quite a few emerging artists.
My phone buzzed beside me and I groaned when I realised it was 6pm. That meant my chances of sleeping through the night were pretty slim. I looked at the Caller ID. Darcy. She'd had great references from some of my musician friends and I'd been a little disappointed in her hinting to the press. I was hoping she was going to meet my expectations.
'Hello.'
'Hi Ed, it's Darcy.'
'Yeah.' I replied. 'You alright?'
'Yes thanks. I saw the big announcement on Youtube. Didn't realise you were going to announce it so early.'
'We weren't.' I frowned.
'Anyway,' she continued, 'My phone has been ringing off the hook all afternoon. Everyone wants Sky on their talk shows, everyone wants her in their magazines. It's crazy!'
I asked her who was interested and she reeled off loads of names, some I hadn't even heard of.
'Well? What would you like me to do?' She asked.
'We'll take up Cosmo's offer for Monday, but no one else for now. I don't want Sky under too much pressure.'
'Too much pressure? She's the one that signed the contract.'
'That doesn't mean that she needs to be hounded by the press. E-mail me the details when you've spoken to them. Bye.'
I felt agitated. Darcy had a very good track-record when it came to being a publicist. I know she wanted Sky in the limelight, but she didn't need to be thrown in the deep end. I looked down at my iPad, at Sky singing on the screen, realising I felt quite protective of her.

Sky.
'Ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod!'
'And breathe.' I told Jen with a frown.
'You're going to be in Cosmopolitan! I wonder if you'll be the cover girl? Oh wow...'
'Please don't be like that.' I groaned. 'I'm freaked out enough as it is.'
'It's a great opportunity.' She smiled, encouragingly.
Rob and Zed walked back into the room, carrying the boxes from the Chinese takeout. Zed passed me a box and I looked at it, feeling nauseous.
Sky, what's wrong?
I'm just... nervous.
You don't have to do anything you don't want to. Ed will understand. Zed sat down beside me and kissed my forehead.
I want to do it, it'll just be scary.
I'm right by you whenever you want me to be.
Will you come to the tv interview on Tuesday?
Sure.
I gave my fiance a quick peck on the lips.
'Guys! Get a room! Jenni groaned.
I rolled my eyes at her. 'Right, because I've never seen you two making out.' My friend's cheeks turned crimson. 'Exactly.'
Rob lifted his beer bottle in the air. 'To Sky and fame and fortune.'
'To Sky.'

Ed.
The weekend was over far quicker than I would have liked it to have been. Sky and I had met up on Saturday and spent some time in the recording studio, recording 'Everything has Changed.' I wanted to release it as a single as soon as possible, before the hype died down. Luckily, a day was all we had needed to perfect it and it was ready to be mass produced. Sky's interview with Cosmopolitan was at 9am, so I picked her up and we headed to the Vancouver photography studio they had hired out.
'You've hardly said a word, are you nervous?' I reached out and squeezed her shoulder, reassuringly, as we walked into the reception area. She didn't say a word, she just nodded. I wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be fine, but I didn't want to over-step any boundries.
'Hello Ed, great to meet you! And hello Sky.' The receptionist smiled as we reached her counter. 'I'll just show you to the room Cosmopolitan have hired out today.'
We followed her down the hallway into an office space with two plush, white leather sofas. Two ladies were sat on one.
'I'll bring in some refreshments.' The receptionist replied before disappearing.
I smiled at Sky in her pretty blue sundress, which brought out the colour in her eyes, and we sat down oppposite the interviewers after they shook our hands. I leant back in the chair, comfortably. Sky was a little more rigid.
The brunette lady smiled at her. 'Is this your first interview?'
'Yes.' She replied, shyly.
'Don't worry about it. We'll ask you some questions. If you're not happy to answer just say. Then when we're finished, we'll head into the studio for a photoshoot.'
'Okay.' Sky nodded, after shooting me a quick glance. I gave her a reassuring smile.
The blonde interviewer turned on the dictaphone and the questions started.
'Welcome Sky. We're going to start with a few questions about you. First of all, where did you grow up?'
'I'm actually from England. I moved over to America when I was sixteen because my parents got a new job and then we moved up to Vancouver so I could go to college.'
'And what are you studying at college?'
'I'm studying music. I've always loved music, it's a passion of mine.'
'So we can tell.' The brunette smiled. 'Talk us through that video that was posted that started this whole thing off.'
'Well we were out celebrating the end of our freshman year at college. Final exams were all over and my friend Jenni had been sneaky and signed me up for open mic night at some place in the city. I didn't realise she had filmed the whole thing and put it on Youtube. When she owned up to it and said that Ed had commented on it, I was petrified to be honest! I've always tried to keep quiet, especially when it came to singing.'
