Chapter 369
.
Eve thought about when she was a child, her parents took her to a fancy restaurant for lobster. They displayed these lobsters in the restaurant for display. Eve thought they were cute, even began naming them. When Zack and Kendall told Eve what they were suppossed to do with these lobsters, she began crying and they had to take her home. Now, in the besieged capitol, Eve wondered if Keeler had the same idea. Sending children outside the wall with her. Letting the mob see the human faces of those they'd be killing. Eve doubted this would work. They were too desperate, too angry, too irrational not to attack. Keeler hadn't gone over the wall, he was considered too valuabe to risk his life. And perhaps he didn't want to see the faces of those he'd soon have to kill, including children. Mason was planning to set up areas where refugees could get food, even after the invasion. Keeler felt this would provide them with too much incentive to invade. He knew not feeding the crowd would lead to starvation. Keeler seemed relatively okay with this, as long as he didn't have to see children starve to death. Eve wanted to believe she'd be ending the suffering of these people, she had to believe this, to function every day. With this debate, and likely the truce, over with they would come soon, with every intention of killing them all.
