Chapter 377

,

Eve returned to colonel Greer with news of what had happenned.

.

Greer: I'm sorry for your friends.

Eve: I've heard that Ernie may have been harboring desserters. Please tell me we had nothing to do with this.

Greer: You said they were butchered, someone went out of their way to kill them painfully. I might have to execute desserters before this is over, I'd just shoot them in the head. I don't see the point of torturing someone to death.

Eve: I agree. So who do you think would do something like this?

Greer: I've heard rumors from some of Walker's people. They seem to think this, and other things are done by worshippers of the demon Moloch. Moloch was believed to have been an ancient diety largely associated with human sacrifice, particularly the sacrifice of infants. Suppossedly, this worship recently started up again.

Eve: Do you believe them?

Greer: I don't know if it's really going on, I think most of them believe it. I've negotiated a truce with one such group. We're going to work with them to find these particular murderers, and stop them before they do anything like this again.

Eve: I'm all for stopping those freaks, but are we sure we can trust Walker's fanantics?

Greer: I hope so, it might be the best way to maintain the fragile peace we have now. The officer in charge of this unit it an old comrade of mine. I hear one of his people is an old friend of yours, Benson.

Eve: I know him, can't promise he's willing to work with us.

Greer: It's a start.
