Chapter 386
.
Eve went back to Caesar's compound, asked to see the boss. The guards at first refused, until she told them who she was, the butcher of the cathedral. They looked at her tattoos, and brought her inside, their guns always pointed at her. Caesar seemed to be in his forties, wearing sunglasses, likely high. Everyone Eve had worked for, even the bad guys, had always been at least semi-rational. But between the drugs, and eight days until impact, Eve had her doubts about this guy.
.
Caeser: So, you're the one who murdered an entire church full of people single-handedly.
Eve: I'm the only one still standing, but yeah, I shot children, pregnant women, helped rescue ten infants from the Molochites.
Caeser: Your reasons are your own. My main concern is, would you do that for me?
Eve: If I have to. My concern is, can you give me food and water to survive the next week, and drugs to help me get through the days?
Caeser: Yes. The job will likely require killing, will definitely require you to sexually service anyone I tell you to. But on the plus side, you can have sex in air-conditioned rooms.
Eve: Sounds like a fair deal.
Caeser: One more thing. You want drugs, how familiar are you with them?
Eve: Mostly tobacco, I've used marijuanna recently.
Caeser: What about heroin?
Eve: No.
Caeser: I have plenty. In truth, I'd prefer you need me to give it to you on a daily basis. Here's a pill, concentrated form. Take this pill, or walk away.
.
Eve looked at the pill. She didn't want to become a heroin addict, but she might have to in order to complete her mission. And she probably wouldn't have enough time to suffer much withdrawel. She swallowed the pill in front of everyone.
