"Keep your guard up at all times." Natasha mothered as she fixed James' uniform jacket. "And make sure your energy shield is always ready for you to use. And don't forget..."

"Natasha." Steve chuckled. "Relax. He's just going on a trip to help comfort teens."

"In Germany." Natasha reminded. "And we are not allowed to go because Fury wants to see how he handles himself. James, on your way there, go over the language. Remember everything the tutors taught you as well as everything the two of us showed you."

"Mom, I'm fluent in German. You and dad have been teaching me since I was little." James reminded.

"Still, go over it and their customs. You don't want to make a bad impression. You're there to help others your age and you're representing the next generation of heroes." Natasha said.

James lightly smiled as his mother continued to fuss over him and tell him things he should do.

He and his parent's had gotten word from Fury four days ago that James was going to be going on his first mission. It would be in Germany and he would be helping teens around his age get comfortable with the idea that SHIELD was there to help them recover from an attack believed to have been from an enemy of the Avengers.

James was doing his best not to show it but he was very nervous. He'd be across the globe from his parent's, on his first mission and would be the lead of the teenagers. Everyone would be expecting great things from him.

As great as his father's first mission as Captain America and saving over four hundred men from the Hydra prison.

The sixteen year old was just glad that he didn't have to face an entire army and break anyone out of anything. As far as he knew.

"Quinjet to Germany now boarding."

"Oh boy." Natasha lightly sighed. The three began walking in the direction of the loading dock. "Alright. You have your wrist communicator?"

"Got it." James answered holding up his right wrist to show the band before tucking it under his red glove.

"Energy shield?"

"Got it." James held up his left arm to show the shield generator Tony had built for him.

"OK. I have to step back and let you do this." Natasha said. "Just...promise that you'll be careful and remember everything we taught you and everything you trained for."

"I promise, mom." James said.

"OK." the spy said then hugged her son. "Be careful, мой принц. We love you so much."

"Be careful, James. We love you." Steve said as he joined Natasha in hugging their son.

"I love you both." James said hugging his parent's tightly.

"We're loading." the pilot announced to everyone who was going on the mission.

"We'll see you when you get back." Steve said.

"Ok. See you in a few days. I'll call if I can." James replied as he started making his way toward the jet.

"Ok. Be careful." Steve said as he and Natasha stood back. The family waved to each other one last time before the hatch closed.

They then moved back into the hallway and watched through the window as the jet took off and flew away from the helicarrier.

"He'll be alright." Steve said as he put an army around his wife's shoulders. "He's got your fierceness and knows everything we've both learned over the years."

"He's got your dedication to see things through too." Natasha added. "He's got everything it takes for him to get through this mission."

"We're just being parent's." Steve said. "He's our son and this is the first time that he's going on a mission and we couldn't go with him. We're going to worry, be nervous, want to break the rules and follow after him...but we have to let him do this. This is the ultimate test for us. To know that he can handle himself without us there always trying to shelter him from the world."

"You're right." Natasha agreed. "I just...I just didn't think this would happen so soon."

"I didn't think so either." Steve agreed. "He grew up too quickly."

Natasha nodded. Somehow, without her noticing, her little boy was growing into a promising young man.
